The drive in to work is stress free
Everything about this area is stress free. No traffic to worry about. Wide open space. Beautiful towns. Nice rivers. Nice people. Cheap laundmatt in St. Hilaire with good Wifi.
We order from several suppliers at work, Digikey is one of the best out there. I've been very interested to see the behind-the-scenes footage of the operation. They seem like a really class act. I'm glad you are liking it! All the best to you.

I worked for an industrial controls company that designed and build systems in house and Digi Key was one of our main suppliers. I have soldered and installed a ton of that stuff. Now full time RVers, I would love to do this job.

I work second shift. During training we were told no phones, cameras in the Bays. I am surprised they let you film.
We could not film. DigiKey film team done all the recording.
This is interesting this came up on my suggested videos today. My son and I are visiting Grand Forks, ND. A few days ago we drove over to Thief River Falls and saw Digi-Key. I've been keeping this place in the back of my mind for later. My son is not quite 18 so I can't bring him with me (I think Digi-key doesn't hire those under 18) if I worked there. Maybe once he is old enough we can look at this again. Thanks for the great video and information.

They still haven't moved into the new building. I am going through the training right now.

This info is 3 years old. Digikey is no longer worth the time. $16/h and no overtime. The new ownership is screwing its employees.

It's been awhile since you commented this so I'm wondering if you did gate guarding now? We are doing it now. It's a very easy gig. Just long hours and I miss spending more time with my kids. Hoping to do digikey next so we can both get 2 days off a week and work 9 hours a day instead of 12.

Waive in a van with a dog…and the motels don’t accept dogs…at least that it what we are told.

@@christinebailey9935 sounds good. Right now we are fox in to start in Sept in Seattle at Amazon for the season. But if that doesn’t work out or after we finish, I will re contact the company that hires for then and see if that hotel is on their list for paid places.

ExpressPros pays up to $75/day from what I am told. If a pet friendly hotel charges beyond that, it is your responsibility to pay the difference.

Just arrived in Thief River Falls and cant wait to start work tomorrow. TY for the tip guys. We drove 1600 miles from Las Vegas and we made it safely but my poor truck didn't. The engine blew half way here :( and we had to abandon her in Wyoming. Anyone know if there is any kind of shuttle to Digi-key (its a long cold walk at night)?
So sorry to hear about your truck. We are definitely familiar with breakdowns! I’m sure someone on your shift will be more than happy to give you a ride. Be sure to make friends with the other Digi-Kampers. Are you in an RV park, hotel, or house?
@@NoAcresHomestead We are in the close RV park so the walk is not too bad (1.4 miles). Just started the second week of training after that I will be on the 9pm-5:30am am shift. TY again for the great content.

Just contacted Jeremiah at Express Employment about next year, are you hearing there will be some openings? I really want to do this next summer. Everything I've been able to see about this opportunity looks like it's perfect for me.
Last we heard (spoke with Alyssa about 2 weeks ago) they are going to be hiring for next summer. I’m sure there won’t be as many positions as this year because migration should be complete by then.
Is the picking process still that manual in 2024? Seems very labor intensive, feel bad ordering a single 20c part lol
So glad this came up in my suggested videos. This looks like exactly what I need for a while. My obstacle is I have to get my camper to the dealership for some repairs. Its still under warranty. So I need housing. I have 2 small older dogs. Suddenly (heart attack) widowed little over a year ago & left with some debts I want to get paid off. Do they have any housing options that might work for me until I can back into my camper?

They were relaxing the requirements at the time of this video. However, we have been told they are once again requiring them to be worn.

I will take to the road full time in an estimated 4 years and I am saving every penny as I speak because I am Dirt poor! however I do have that goal! With that said watching this inspirational video gives me 2 concerns and that is based on the fact that this job is such a good opportunity for work camping lifestyle! if it pays so well and offers so much to the individual I am just concerned with my lack of qualifications and only experience doing manual labor I'm wondering if A I am underqualified for digikey and b If this job will no longer be easily available by the time I get on the road in 4 years only being accessible to the return work campers that have seniority?
The only qualifications you need are a good work ethic and the ability to be on your feet all day. They train you for the job itself. Not sure how long this will be a workamping offering, but hopefully it will be around for quite some time!

Great video friends! We were wondering how close the campground is to the warehouse. And How soon can we apply for next year? What months are available for work campers to work? For example, do they only hire work campers during the summer? We would want to work there for three months. Is that an acceptable timeframe?
Campground is across the street. Express put me up in a Quality Inn which is 1/2 mile from Digikey.

So this is warehouse work but you stay in your rv? My idea of work camping is working at the actual campground. 2 totally different thing.

You don’t have to be vaxxed or wear a mask. They pay for hotel or camping spot.
I worked there for a little while, didn’t like it at all. It wasn’t terrible but the monotony and purposelessness of the job was absolutely soul sucking to me. Some people can work an uninspiring job like that I suppose but not I.

Monday through Friday. There are 3 shifts. We worked 5 am to 1:30 pm. Our pay for first shift was $18/hr. 2nd and 3rd shift get $20/hr. RV fhu site is included.

Hello to both. Hope all is well. This question is not about you current job. I been watching your videos on J%G. Security did both of you no longer do the gate guard jobs. Was there a conflict. I been reading comments of Facebook I think trolls
We haven’t done any guard jobs in a while. Not because of any conflict, we just want to see other parts of the country.
How hard is this job on your feet? I'm one year removed from spending three decades working on the hard floors of grocery stores and my feet still hurt. I'm pretty sure I can handle the workload as a temporary job for three or four months, but my feet may have another opinion...
You have the option of placing aftermarket or specialized insoles in your shoes.
Is the test difficult to get hired?
How does this fit with workamping; Is there RV site available and such?
The temp serivice pays for a room at a local motel/hotel if you dont have a camper
How is the rv park?
Is DigiKey hiring part time workcampers or only full time?
It takes part time just to be trained.
Are families allowed to camp along with workers?
If both parents are employed, they can work opposite shifts so someone is always with the minor children.

What is the minimum amount of time that you can sign up for?
The training process is about 5 weeks, so I’m sure they want people who can commit to 3-5 months. I would suggest contacting Express Pros for a more definite answer on this one though.

We discussed this information in other videos. We don’t repeat the same info over and over again. Watch the first video we did about this job. You will find all the answers to these questions. To repeat this information in every video would just be a waste of our time.

At the time, they we not required if you were vaccinated. We are both vaccinated. I have heard that shortly after we left they went back to mandatory for everyone.

At the time we were there, no. But things change fast.
They are not requiring that as of April. I’m starting on Monday. Masks are optional also!

I would NEVER work for a company that requires you to wear a useless mask....
Digi-key is one of the worst companies that you can work for you are a number there
I’d be concerned with people not masking properly.
