To those living outside of California. Keep this in mind when you look down on us.
    1. Not everyone in California are snowflakes, communist, terrorist or identify as a cat.
    2. California is not just San Francisco, Los Angeles or Sacramento. Not everyone is a city folk. There are country folks and cowboys living here.
    3. California is divided in sections. Northern California, Southern California, the desert, the valley and bum f*ck nowhere. There are differences.
    4. Us in Northern California don't claim San Francisco and Sacramento.
    5. The state is beautiful, the people in Government aren't. Same goes with the people that voted for those idiots.
Lastly, not everyone can just up and leave this state.
It's not that simple for some of us. So instead, we're holding the line. We'd appreciate it if some of y'all support us instead of looking down on us as if we're all the same in this state. There are plenty of good 2A freedom loving folks here. We're just a bit outnumbered when it comes to voting.

You should move to a place like Floriduuhh or Tex-ass. Lousy healthcare, crappy schools, horrible climate, disappearing OBGYN clinics for the women in your life, home insurance problems that make California’s look like a Sunday picnic, lots of drugs, crime and obesity.

I did it. What you need to do it sell almost everything you own, except your most precious items. Take that money and use it to start over. There’s a lot I wish I would’ve gotten rid of instead of dragging it across the country. On top of that, the moving companies are super sketchy. They kept things of mine and they forced me to pay more money for not arriving on time when they left without any notice so I could not get ahead of them. So I had to pay them extra. They’re super shady. Anyway sell everything you can so you don’t need a Moving Company. Rent a U-Haul and get the hell out.
Start looking at areas you’re interested in. Do your due diligence.

Hey you guys, I’m one of the person who used to live in Malibu before the 3018 fire. My insurance was Farmers and I had a renter insurance covering 100k personal property and 100K for getting on with my life in the aftermath.
In mid 2023 I receive a letter of non renewal with no explanations.
In the meantime starting in 2019, they raised my auto insurance instead giving me a break because all the qualifiers: no accidents, no tickets, 2 vehicles and renter insurance. I went to AAA for car insurance and after the first year AAA it went from $1700 roughly for 2 cars to
$2600. This year it jumped to $3400, and AAA also refuse me renters insurance. This is all on purpose! After the devastating fire of 2018 in CA, Malibu was devastated and my friend were given all kind of excuses telling her she couldn’t rebuild. She left CA, like so many. Not only they don’t care if people leave the state, in the contrary they want us out of there. Another land grab?! 🔥
It is not alright to not give people home and renter insurance which includes fire. This gonna have to change!!

Flood insurance on my house at the shore in NJ would be $11,000 if I had a mortgage on it. Trust me the house is not a mansion. It's from the 50s. If I wanted just $50,000 in flood coverage would be $5,000. What a racket. I can put that money away in a savings account just in case something happens to it.

With California already being THE MOST DIFFICULT AND MOST EXPENSIVE STATE to own a home, they make it even more difficult to buy and own a home. As I had mentioned before, UNLESS you're already a home owner OR you're a high income earner, 99% of the renters in California have no choice but to keep renting. And the dream of being a home owner becomes more and more out of touch and unrealistic for most of us. It's almost like what they're doing is entirely intentional to keep the renters keep renting and the "HAVES" make more and more money. Anyone else feel like that? Can you really blame me for feeling and thinking this way?

If property gets so hard to buy for regular people there are plenty of rich corporations or people from other places (countries) who can afford the high costs. The word we never hear anymore is ETHICS. Business ethics is not part of any corporate entity. Money is all that matters. It is the driver of all corruption in our state and federal political class. Weakness should be pointed out as bad. Weak politicians equal easily bribed politicians. They lack moral compass. Vanity & fame & notoriety & greed etc etc. all the things that makes for a bad person, those are the same things ruining the state & the country. It’s also why the country voted for a change! Consider this, PBD: PG&E and the CA State consistently fail to properly manage forests and maintain critical power equipment. Yet, when disasters occur due to their negligence, the insurance companies pass on that financial burden to its customers; the average American homeowner via higher premiums and increased costs. It’s an unjust system-tax payers shouldn’t be carrying this financial burden, PGE should! Secondly, those who play by the rules and strive to do the right thing end up shouldering the largest burden, while others, including those without jobs or here illegally, often receive extensive support using our tax dollars. It’s completely F-in backwards, this creates a system where being responsible, hardworking people feels more like a disadvantage than a benefit. It’s a deeply flawed system that completely undermines a fair and equitable capitalist model. In short; hardworking average Americans trying to live an average life are getting screwed into impoverished situations, living check to check with a good job! Were getting it from all sides.

If you are lucky enough to have your homeowner's policy renewed in most cases the increase is much higher than the year before. I spoke to a gentleman whose premium went up 100% from the year before. I also spoke with a retired older lady who is on a fixed income and her homeowners went up an additional $40 a month which cuts into her budget for her grocery's. While you make a valid point, let me give a little perspective from a survivors standpoint...Paradise 2018. 40k+ individuals from several communities, destroyed by wildfire sparked by faulty pg&e equip in a small mtn community, fueled by high winds (common in the canyons here that time of year), undergrowth no longer mngd by cdf (since the 80's. thanks to feinstein & cronies who can't move their arses from the bay or their noses from doners hinnies) & a poor or nonexistent ems, descending on a small college town. Fast forward to post bankruptcy (pg&e) where survivors were declared creditors rather than victims (to reduce pg&e liability) screw #1. When the dust settled & decision reached; municipalities, hospital & INSURANCE COMPANIES were reimbursed FIRST (before survivors, who by the way, are STILL waiting for measly crumbs 5yrs later!) screw #2. Some insurance companies refused claims claiming insolvency, some only paid partial claims, some honored their contracts. ALL OF THEM were reimbursed their loss from the Trust setup for survivors! screw #3. Now those same companies charge outrageous premiums (if, they will ensure you all) or have decided to remove their services entirely from the state. EVEN IF you had been a customer for several DECADES that had never filed a claim & never had a late pymt. screw #4. As you can imagine, we don't give 2 shakes about the "poor insurance companies".
Honestly, if folks were smart, they'd post their own bonds to insure their assets and tell the others to stuff it. Governance in Cali has gone to the hogs & they're all gluttons. BTW, my family has resided here for over a century & a half

Our insurance went from about $1200 per year for fire and homeowners to $4500 per year. My neighbor has a new house and his went up to $10,000 per year. We will probably be forced to move out of state next year when my husband retires because we just won't be able to afford to live here anymore even though our house is almost paid off. We can't afford to pay a 4 figure rent or else we would just sell our house now and rent.

Not that I really agree with anything California has in policy, if they don’t require ins providers to write coverage and home owners are “required” to have ins coverage due to mortgage or hazard zone requirements, then what is a person supposed to do? If they can’t get ins then the home just never sells again and is abandoned? It’s getting difficult in Houston due to flood zones. I know ppl in FL facing similar issues. But at some point between earthquake, fire, flood, hurricane, tornado, etc…. There will be more “high risk” areas that just aren’t provided an option?
Again I’m asking because I don’t understand the solution here….

Insurance is becoming a rip off. It never covers you in your time of need, but you need to make the payments. Any insurance, expect your claim to be denied and you need to get a lawyer and fight for it. Due to inflation, don't expect interest rates to fall too much. The only flexibility on housing that can be adjusted is price of the home, so I expect a bloodbath in housing prices in the next 2 years. All the other expenses I expect to keep creeping up with true inflation rate, which is probably 7% expecting to go up, not the one that's reported.

We had a huge wildfire due to PG&E negligence where we lost 40 homes. Most of the residents have lost their insurance and are now paying a ridiculous amount using the CA fair plan and a wraparound policy. Insurance companies are dropping all insurances and we have very expensive homes !
State Farm has dropped so many homes!
Our forests need better maintenance. We have extended the brush clearance from our properties from 100 ft to in my case 500 ft!

There is something else going on. My son's insurance company declined to renew his policy claiming he is in a wild fire area, Yes, it is a hilly community, but just surrounded by grass, NO trees for 100 miles in any direction and is not remote and highly accessible and defendable on all sides. My daughter had a hard time finding coverage for her home for the same reason. But her house sits in the San Joaquin Valley on flat ground, in the middle of agriculture property.

Why is my liability insurance insanely high when the other person, whose car is most certainly worth more and is forced to pay full coverage if it's still being financed insurance will also pay out? The cost of Insurnace (homeowners, P&C, health insurance) is increasing faster than inflation and almost double the wage growth rate.
We didn’t even hit our deductible last year for health insurance and we just got an announcement our premiums are going up 30% this year and our already high deductible is going up another $7,000!! How is this legal?!?
It’s become absurd and the Insurnace industry is attacking the middle class with government protection for all of it.

Happy New Year. The premiums for my condo went from $65,000 a year with Faremers to $875,000 a year on ‘the Market’. The condo is considered commercial property so it exceeds the value for the California’s Fair Plan. Also wheee I live are a lot of eucalyptus trees. The green spaces with the trees can’t be properly maintained because the maintenance (trimming trees, clearing brush, etc per fire code) violates CA endangered species and environmental acts. So, yeah I am financially screwed. The HOA cost is now annually more than my mortgage with the special assessments.
