Unbelievable! There is actually good turnover in this overloaded wash. Goes to show that even these older HE washers are better than the current crop that they are pushing out now. Impressed.
mike miller Cabrios are trash! I just moved from an apartment with one to one with an old direct drive whirlpool. The cabrio does not even come close to cleaning as good.
This is one of my favourite USA top loaders of all time now thanks to its brilliant agitation! Also i think this is the best EVER washer you have ever tested at your shop!
Rinse sequences: - First rinse is a spin/spray flush (the pump is draining the entire time) from the fresh water spray flume at the left rear 21:43 to 23:34. - Second rinse is agitated, fill from the fresh water flume 25:48 to 27:44. - Third rinse is agitated, fill 29:32 to 31:02, a few seconds through the detergent dispenser then the fresh water spray. - Fourth rinse is agitated, fill from 32:38 to 34:55 a few seconds through the detergent dispenser then the fresh water spray. Then after the water level sensor triggers, softener flush 34:55 to 35:00 (water flow is 30 seconds on, 15 seconds off, 15 seconds on). - Fifth rinse is a spin spray 41:35 to 42:05. - Sixth rinse is a spin spray 42:53 to 43:18. This occurs *ONLY* when Warm rinse (Warm/Warm) temp is selected. All the other rinses are COLD even when Warm rinse is selected.
@@italia01139 Whirlpool did that for years, with sprays in the final spin, even many as four sprays in the final spin on some of the original belt-drive models.
Wash fill is through the detergent dispenser from pressing Start (including the short speed-up period) to 3:09. Watch the water flow rate, ATC switches it several times between warm (faster flow) and hot (slower flow). A load this large and dirty should have two Tide pods.
I think it does better on an over loaded load than a under loaded.. The was with 3 rags omg it was just tickling them ha... Always look forward to your videos keep them coming 👍☺️ Martin (UK)
Thanks for your videos! I used to swear by Whirlpool appliances but after the last washer/dryer set and refrigerator lasting only 8 years, I will not buy Whirlpool appliances. The coupler on the washer was replaced three times and the clutch went out. Compressor on the refrigerator went out. The dryer is still going strong at my mother in laws house. Replaced the refrigerator with a Samsung and now have and LG front load washer/dryer. I miss the old 70's-80's Whirlpool washer and that distinctive sound!
That’s odd the coupler was replaced multiple times and the spin clutch replaced for an 8-year old machine. You sure the washer hasn’t been constantly overloaded?
umajunkcollector It's belt-drive. Flat ribbed belt. Spin is 800 RPM. The pump has a separate, direct-drive, reversing motor and operates throughout the entire cycle except for a few seconds when switching between recirculate and drain, and during some of the fill periods.
Curious question, on these huge loads why do you only use one Tide Pod? To show how we the machine will preform? I get them saying use 3 would be over kill, but I would at least use 2 if them. Wondering if it is to show machine performance or just a personal thing and you dont like using a lot of detergent. Thanks man!!
Luis Alvarez There are some molded ribs in the tub sump that are intended to catch some debris as the water flows through. It's not very effective, some lint tends to collect at the recirculation port.
I at least give Whirlpool credit for doing something different. The Maytag Neptune top loader was another to me anyway impractical idea. The two best washer types are traditional tried and true top loaders and the front loaders. You want HE ? Get a front loader. Inherently efficient just by it's design. Actually I am glad these are not being produced anymore. I liked the catalyst washers much better and wish Whirlpool had stuck with them.
The whirlpool direct drives reminded me of the GE's that replaced the filter-flo that replaced them. The only other thing that whirlpool reminded me of was the gear oil smell during operation. That's the only thing that the direct drives reminded me of the GE filter-flo.@@patcola7335
Looks like overloading a Calypso is a bad idea 😂 nothing really got cleaned, just shaken to death lol. looks like you better not go any bigger than the bath towel video.

umajunkcollector it seems like no company makes decent Appliances now. Super expensive and junk
I'll keep my 2018 speed queen over a 2018 cabrio any day.
mike miller I had a cabrio. The spin bearings died after 5 years and out it went.
theres not much turnover at all
mike miller Cabrios are trash! I just moved from an apartment with one to one with an old direct drive whirlpool. The cabrio does not even come close to cleaning as good.
seems like its an inspired version of those Frigidaire bouncing agitator washers from the 50s.
or it could an inspired on apex

I wish they would bring these back
Me too!!!!! I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
i have one in mint condition calypso still washing strong
With upgraded refinements.
If a Frigidaire Unimatic and the ABC O Matic were to have a baby, this would be it.
I love the wash action especially on the heavy duty cycle.
Thank you I love this at least the towels are getting wet

for heavy duty. first rinse is agitated filled from fresh water area. 2nd rinse is a spin/spray flush. the the rest follows
Kind of dump to rinse after the fabric softener

Thanks for the description. How is the drive system set up?

@@umajunkcollector This machine was Durable crap. This machine had big rust probems. and pump problems
What's the difference between heavy duty and normal?
There’s actually decent turnover in this Calypso, and it’s overloaded.
I’m actually surprised.

Thanks man 👍
the first generation of impeller washer
Seems like a real washer OC house can't balance
Amazing video Lorne furniture do you have fav washing machine. I love whirlpool calyspo

Eugene, what's your report / analysis /opinion of how the machine performed on this load?
im surprised the recirculated water is managing to get through all the clothes back to the sump
Why don't they keep this design? I mean, this design is better than the modern top load crap they have today!
It’s an he version of a vintage Frigidaire jet cone.
More like a vintage Kelvinator.
What's the spin speed on this? It looks better than traditional toploaders

I don't like this washer at all. It seems like an over complicated mechanical nightmare. I wonder how reliable they were??
Can you test the other model with an agitator when you will find it thanks!

Does the water get refillterd and then go back in the bucket and does it again?
JaArRyi FleshBlood it recirculates the water from the drum up to the water spout , i dont think it gets filtered tho
Luis Alvarez but if the water get filtered , it would be a good machine

Could you do a one item test in this washer please? To see how it handles a unbalanced load.
Washing-freak videos believe it or not its hard for this washer to become unbalanced lol it was built strong
Does it really clean the clothes? I don't believe in this washing system.
What year is this washing machine from, do you know?
Will there be a review on this machine?

Anyone ever post a video of these machines with extra water?
I’d buy a Calypso before I’d buy a Cabrio.
It looks like a Bendex washer from the 50's,that the tub shook to clean the clothes. It was junk, just like this washer

I didn’t know HE washers existed back then
uff a long time ago
Calypso is not a vintage washer, To be vintage it has to be over 35 yrs. old. This is what us Tech call the New Piece of Crap Design.
Literally the only comment criticizing this machine
@@agarcia4271gaming Sorry but the TRUE Hurts, What i said i a FACT

I think this was a waste to build.
