      It really is so much fun all the things that can be done with metallic waxes!

    I haven’t used this wax before, but I do have gilding paint. It’s my first time using this product. Do you know if this finish has an effect on hinge functioning?

    • @OriginallyWorn
      @OriginallyWorn  2 роки тому

      The wax doesn’t affect the function and the paint shouldn’t if you do not put too much on. Thin layers is best then. Or spray paint in thin layers works well too.

    Would you spray a top coat over this?

    • @OriginallyWorn
      @OriginallyWorn  2 роки тому +1

      No, wax is a topcoat in itself. You don't want to layer anything on top of waxes. It won't adhere correctly

    I used on the drawer pulls and I'm wondering do I rubbish cloth after dry? The flat portion of the pull isn't seemless there are some blotchy shades.

    • @OriginallyWorn
      @OriginallyWorn  6 місяців тому

      Yes, you could rub/buff it with a dry cloth after they have cured a few days.

    Good video. I just started using this and it's absolutely amazing for hardware! Couple of questions: 1) After it dries, what is the best method of buffing / leveling the shine? 2) I had a metal frame with a glossy topcoat which the gilding wax doesn't want to grab onto to it - what should I do to solve this - light sanding? Thanks.

      @OriginallyWorn  Рік тому

      Hey! Thank you for your kind words. You could certainly sand, that will give it some tooth.y opinions have changed on this over the years, but now whenever I use want to use a gilding wax I either use a chalk paint and wax first, then or just use a chalk paint. A traditional top coat doesn’t have anything for the wax to soak into it and harden. Something like a frame, it will eventually harden and be fine but if it was something that got touched a lot I wouldn’t recommend

      Thanks for the response! Strange that some hardware items the was seems to easily cover, but longer flat metals that have a coating do likely need a primer coat first. I've tried roughing smooth surfaces first with a moderately coarse texture, but the was still wouldn't grab it. I'll try sandpaper next.

    Do you not buff it when dry?

      You can if you want, but you don’t have to

    Thank you, I tried using this, this morning but no luck but I was using my finger. It was very uneven and when I went over the same spot it would come off. I will try the brush

      Missyka1 M put a layer of Annie Sloan paint first and it will have something to grip/soak into

    Hello I was wondering if you can seal this product, I want to try for my exterior door handles, can you use a polycrylic or lacquer type clear? Thanks so much!

    • @OriginallyWorn
      @OriginallyWorn  Рік тому

      Hello. No, this is a form of wax, therefore it can not have any type of other sealant over top of it plus I would not recommend it for outdoors or a door handle. But I do have a video on how to spray paint door knobs that will give you a lasting finish. I would do that with a silver color.

    Can I use this on melamine furniture? or should I first paint my furniture with some sort of chalk paint??

    • @OriginallyWorn
      @OriginallyWorn  4 роки тому

      You probably could, but it would be hard to make it stick. I would paint with chalk paint first.

    Can you put this on heavy use items like handles?

    • @OriginallyWorn
      @OriginallyWorn  3 роки тому +1

      You can, but you could paint first (with Annie Sloan chalk paint)for better coverage/adhesion.

    Can you use it on handles? Will it rub off over time?

    • @OriginallyWorn
      @OriginallyWorn  6 років тому +1

      +Annie Looysen yes, you can use it on handles. It may rub off over time, but I haven't had that experience yet. Sometimes if I am worried about longevity I put a layer of Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan on first, then the wax. It gives the wax something more to cling to.
