Few comments on the LG Wing:
4:00 The UA-cam app used to work better with the LG Wing, it's the more recent version of the app that doesn't go from full screen back to the regular window size because UA-cam made it so it auto maximizes video when a phone is horizontal, which is why it freaks out (it never used to).
4:17 It's not Google Maps, you're not using the 'LG Keyboard' that comes with the phone, it will go to the bottom screen if the phone is in Wing mode.
5:50 Same thing when using remote desktop with the 'LG Keyboard' you're using the 'Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard' it doesn't know to auto switch to the lower screen.
Also another thing worth covering is that if you connect it to a USB Monitor you can use a full screen interface similar to Samsung's Dex interface (another reason why there's that track pad)
12:30 You're meant to use the on screen volume control by swiping down on the lower screen when the phone is in Wing mode rather than the physical buttons, also if you turn on the Always On Display a double tap on the screen will wake it rather than having to use the power button.

Hey guys, I normally don't comment but I felt I needed to. My daily phone is an LG Wing and I have had NONE of these issues with it.
Especially the the screen issues: I have had mine for 2 years and have no scratches, no bubbles, and no wiggle.
The screen is NOT loose, in fact it's tight and satisfying the way it slides out.
I normally use it vertical but when I need to write an email or send a text I swivel and the smaller screen is perfect for the keyboard menu, it was designed for gboard and it works well.
I use it when I'm watching live streams so I can see the full content and the chat.
The gimble mode has been huge for me as a creator and the cameras are made for the live gimble feature.
This phone was made for hyper nerds, creators, and warranty voiding pirates.
It really gets a bad rap considering how great it is.

LG wing is goated. the phone is amazing. His review almost seems like it came from a hater before he even got the phone and wanted to hate it. I as well used the phone for 2 years. I'd still have it if it wasn't for the fact my toddler got ahold of it and broke the screen. Only reason I didn't get a new one or attempt to fix it is because LG got out of the phone business. If they weren't abandoning cell phones I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. I have the Samsung S23 Ultra now and it feels like a downgrade in every aspect escept for the camera.

All respect for LG but I think the current form factor is still perfect in our time. The real thing that these manuf need to do is to make smaller and slimmer phones again like how Asus do with their phones and that luxury type phone from Xiaomi that is small and realistically designed for a human hand. Phones nowadays are as huge as a TV XD. It makes me cringe whenever I see a 4'11 human hold a giant phone. If I want a to watch on big screens, I have a TV and a dual monitor pc lmao

I was a person who used LG back from the g6 and the OG stylo series and had quite a few of their phones. They weren't always the most up-to-date with their processors and hardware, but their design philosophies and the way that they made phones that were unique was always a really cool thing to me. Before the foldable phones and stuff came along and became the way they are today, they had the LG g8x, which came with a dual-screen accessory that was essentially a case that fit around the body of the phone to add an extra inner screen. It used the USB-C port to power the extra inner display and smaller outer display that could show the time and notification icons when the device was closed. They also had one for the V60, which was the phone that I had, and I believe the last phone they made that was officially sold in the US (correct me if I'm wrong). They essentially made a "folding phone", and to be honest, it was really cool, but finding a use for the accessory was difficult as to me the fact that it wasn't a singular display that folds in the middle kind of made it harder to find uses for it as well.
I think the thing that sent LG under was the fact that they'd throw their whole company at these devices, but because they weren't as popular as the Samsung or Google phones, it was really hard to get the software support needed to really make those phones come to life, which is really a shame. They had their own proprietary apps and whatnot but you could uninstall them and I don't ever really recall them installing your phone with a bunch of bloatware from the bat out of all of my time using them. I think they treated their customers well in their time in the industry, but because they weren't pulling the apple and Samsung marketing stuff they just didn't get as far with the general consumer population and therefore didn't get backed up enough by all of the app developers because realistically with how little people used these niche devices and accessories there wasn't really a reason to put a whole lot of effort into making sure they worked perfectly all the time.
All-in-all, I'm glad you stuck to your word and used it for a month, I personally would've recommended a v60 because at least the dual screen accessory would have been similar to your previous daily driver, but I think showing off the last phone they ever produced to the masses is a really cool thing since they didn't really get a huge spotlight over here in North America.
Quick Edit after the fact: In all of their phones I don't think they ever removed the headphone jack ONCE, despite the fact that a lot of the major players were doing it, and they also really, really cared about the quality of the features they had when it came to their more "basic" phones. I really think the wing was one of the harsher ones because honestly it's just a really difficult form factor to work with. It's really a shame that they had to leave the industry, but I also feel like sometimes they tried too hard to make these new innovations/gimmicks when they could've kept making more of their good, more budget friendly devices with quality headphone jacks, displays and software.

Honestly, while I also enjoyed LG’s phones, as someone that sold phones for many years, they just did horribly in the market (even with LG giving VERY generous incentives for selling their phones). I’m willing to bet they only covered R&D on most of the phones they released at best. Yeah, they definitely had their passionate fans, justifiably so, but there just weren’t enough for them to keep going. I mean why keep struggling to recoup costs when you are a market leader in other markets?

It's a beast NOW I'd say(given the low price you can get it for today). But it's specs were pretty standard for high end phones when it was released, and those other phones were getting 90HZ+ screens as well. The S20FE for example had the same specs pretty much, and a 120HZ screen and the v60 had a lower res screen than the V50. Still, it had that sweet dac, was pretty durable(except for the USB C being iffy for some people) and a decent battery. The camera software improved over time. It had that gimmicky second screen, some people liked that.

It's drop-proof and waterproof. Comes with a headphone jack and microSD slot. It's modern in performance and features. Has 5-Year of support. Is actually built to be repairable. And has a stupidly long battery life, which can easily be doubled or tripled in a matter of seconds by hotswapping thanks to it's User Removable Battery.
In my opinion, it is much better than the Fairphone 5. That won't age too well, making it's 7-Year support basically a moot point, unlike the Samsung.

I've owned an LG wing for almost 3 years now (got mine on March '21) and I haven't had HALF the issues described on this video.
No scratches or dust on the second screen. No scratches on the shell of the phone. I did crack my front screen but the phone had a serious fall and I'm surprised it even works after that fall, let alone survive with only a few cracks on the corner of the screen.
The front screen didn't get loose at all. AT ALL! 3 years (and a HARD fall) and I tried to see if I could feel any "looseness", as Linus said on the video, and it had zero.
The software is cool once you get used to it, I did have issues on the first days but now I use other phones and I feel "cramped", I'm so used of the extra screen space whenever I need it, it's feels weird not to have it.
And I never use Android auto from the Wing. Not that I don't like it, it's just that if you mount your phone correctly on the dash, it's functionality is waaaaaay much better than what Android Auto provides. Just connect the phone via Bluetooth so you can hear audio from the car's speakers and you can use the phone to listen to music, navigate AND use it as a dashcam all at the same time. DO THAT with Android Auto (or any other phone for that matter).
Also, the wow factor when you show the swivel to any "tech geek" and see their eyes widen... Absolutely precious.
All in all, the LG Wing is a decent phone. Of course it's not a flagship but it's way better than chat Linus makes it to be. And, honestly, Linus's critiques lately... More miss than hits... Thought this guy knew his stuff. Guess he cares more about clicks and likes now than actually reviewing products.

My favourite phone of all time is the LG G8. Still my daily driver. It was part of LGs "promised upgrades" set of phones AFTER the announced foreclosure. Truly great device today!
A bit smaller than the V60, but has a beautiful QHD P-OLED display, Hi-fi Quad DAC (Producing the BEST audio quality and experience with a good pair of headphones), a 3.5 headphone jack, and Micro SD card support up to 2TB of external storage.
I personally feel that phones are now regressing in some areas, removing features that were genuinely appreciated by many.
I can't find any device that I can confidently say will replace the experience that I've gotten with my G8. Sony comes close with the 3.5mm headphone Jack and SD card support, but their flagship price is more than I'm willing to pay and they lack Quad Dacs.
The Pixel 8 Pro seems interesting with the recent Pixel updates that were dropped a few days ago.

I'm running a Fp4 in the northern US on U.S. Mobile. Its not too bad, but to get the most out of it you have to flash alternate firmware and be all about the FOSS lifestyle. I went with lineage, and have no issues outside of worse battery after the last update (tho its still better than any phone I've had). You sacrifice a bit of performance and camera quality compared to other flagship phones, but thats not exactly FP's goal, and meets my expectations for a more ethical device.
One issue is a phantom input bug that occasionally spazs the screen when I'm grasping the bottom right corner; really annoying, but I just avoid that corner now. One thing I hate is the lack of headphone port. I feel the company was disingenuous in there reasons for removing it, confirmed with their less eco friendly Bluetooth earbuds/phones. Also, its a bit of a pain to unroot the phone for each Lineage update, but thats more of a nitpick.
Overall love it, and recommend for someone who wants a more ethical phone. Just don't expect it to be what its not.

I actually have an LG Wing that I won for free at the beginning of the year. I've been dailying it ever since. It has some interesting quirks with the software, including the fact that I can't get to my app drawer if I unlock the phone from the AOD instead of pressing the power button first. And yeah, lots of apps don't work on the second screen. But I actually love to use the swivel mode for UA-cam just as a comfortable way to one-hand the phone and still watch in full screen. I've also discovered that it's kinda fun to use in swivel mode with the large screen vertical and holding the small screen off to the side, if you want to double app with something like Instagram reels.
Unfortunately my phone is carrier locked and I am stuck back on A10. But maybe that's a good thing because I haven't experienced almost any of these issues in the video. I have to say, maybe it's not the best phone, but it's just got a really nice overall feel, and the cool factor is off the charts (at least in my eyes.) Should've had the LG V60 with the extra screen as a option. Killer phone still being used today. Also, double tap to wake was an LG first. Heck, i still use my LG V40 and a pair of Peerless Audio Status Between Pro ear buds which uses the aptX codec and has basically the best sound through BT 5.2. And yes Lenny, the V40 is nicer than the Joke 9.
I just opened a brand new LG V60 and just like all the V-series, they can push a pair of 600Ω Sennheiser HD800's which is due to the 2Vrms 3.5mm headphone jack with ESS SABRE's 32bit qDAC to clean up the audio. Especially FLAC files and mvk. for video. Also, the USB-c to HDMI comes in handy. I could go on and on about the right LG phone. Like i said before. The LG V40 is still serving me well. With some Status audio with the V-series is a match made in heaven. The V-series supports all audio and video codecs. Plus LG's stock music app is the best period. It changes color depending on the album of the artist so no 2 artists ambient background look the same. These phones also have MLT-STD 810G/H, so they can take a drop or hit. Plus the cold has no effect on V-series phones. My Note 20 Ultra 5 kept bootlooping in -15°c weather. How ironic....lmao.
I pulled out the V40 and had no issues. GPS accuracy is immaculate. Just check out the V40's (or all V-series) GPS test on GSMarena

Yeah Linus complained about the power button but didn't turn on the always on display option to double tap to wake, also they didn't use the LG Keyboard that automatically knows which screen to use for the keyboard, Linus was using the Microsoft SwiftKey keyboard, which is why it kept appearing on the top screen regardless of the Wing's mode.

The LG Wing was actually such a fantastic phone. I loved it. I wish there were more innovative devices like it. Especially from someone who actually would have taken care of the software for it. I used the hell out of the inner display for so many things. It kept me super productive all of the time. Texting while watching videos, maps and music while driving, coordinating pokemon go raids on discord while playing the game back when I still played that trash, and so much more.
Ngl, a lot of the hardware issues I never personally had. I got mine near launch as well. So it's very unusual that you had so many issues. The inner display dust scratches are easily combated by a screen protector. The screen rippling I don't see on my old 2 year daily driver Wing. The wobbling I honestly enjoyed because it was a great fidget sound even though its super bad for the hardware lol. The mono speaker and volume button locations were bad. The Wing had a better finger print scanner than the Samsung Folds for me. I could put in any finger print at any angle on the Wing. The Fold 4 I have to be prefectly oriented and situated on that little bar. Even a micrometer off kilter and it locks to the pass code fully. I prefer the Fold overall. But I wish someone more competent would have made the Wing. I got tons of questions about the Wing and told how cool it was all the time. The Fold, everyone knows and they are basically a slab of glass phone with extra style. I love my Fold, but the Wing had more wow factor.

I bought a LG V10 when they first came out, and absolutely loved that phone. The little top screen was actually useful, you could easily change the battery, and the back of the phone was grippy and allowed the phone to stay where you put it - unlike today's phones where you look at them funny and the slide off whatever they are on and break unless you have a case. I retired the V10 after a couple years when I bought a Samsung Note8 - and gave the V10 to a coworker with a new battery. He used it for another 3-4 years before it finally died. I currently have a Pixel 7 which I do like, but I think my favorite phone to date was that V10.
