  • A short montage of just a handful of the days out in the fields and moors of the UK in pursuit of the wild rabbit. Here in the UK the rabbit inflicts over 150 million pounds worth of damage each year and as such requires managing. Ferreting uses no toxins or poisons and every rabbit harvested is utilised for food. Wild rabbit is one of the most nutritious of wild game meat with have in our country. Love this video and watching Tawny working is brilliant, such a game dog I love the tumbles and rolls while going for the catch.

Those dogs are incredibly fast! And the ferret flushes the bunnies out amazingly well!

Great video. The dun coloured lurcher is an amazing catch dog, are you ever worried about injuries? Thats some pretty rough ground you work on occasion , they must be the best worked lurchers around.

Having a job to do is one thing; taking pleasure from it means you are a waste of life.

All these rabbits went for human consumption, food.

@@ferretWhitehead Fair enough but I still strongly suspect that sustenance is not the primary motivation but rather fun and/or profit. You know, some people give their time to care for animals, others like to kill them. I'm grateful not to be in the latter category.

I understand how you feel and completey agree as you are entitled to have a valid opinion based on the facts. Everyone at some point just has to agree to disagree.

@@ferretWhitehead I'm aware my initial post was somewhat proactive of course. It was an interesting turn of phrase for you to say that you understand how I feel. The point is that I understand how the animals might feel! : ) It's the doing of these things for pleasure that I find hard to accept.

@@anthonyat2401 a removal of a pest that causes millions of pounds of damage a year? He does so in a safer humane and ethical manner. Go read one of his books and pass judgement then, to me this man is one the reasons I got into ferreting and love my passion.
