- Choo Choo Cha Boogie performed at the Kessler Theater in Oak Cliff, TX in the summer of 2014, featuring a "Battle of the Brass" with 92 yr. old Billy Briggs, Eddie Rivers, Dave Alexander and Jay Roberts.
Spectacular version! This song always puts a smile on my face.
Choo Choo Cha Boogie is a swing tune that employs a backbeat. That’s exactly why it’s a transitional tune between swing and rock n roll.
Brilliant! Gotta love the Straight, no chaser interjection. Outstanding indeed...
Love Asleep at the Wheel! This is the best version of this song!
Take me right back to the track, Mack! Woo woo
I was in a major state of depression....but these guys have dragged me out!!!....thanks....
That was the coolest thing
I've ever heard
YEEHAAAH!!! Billy still kicks some ass!!! His boys on the brass are pretty hot too. Thanks Ray. Best Wishes.
That was magnificent. I'm off to practice now...
This is awesome!
That was awesome !
My favorite all time asleep at the wheel
Great band.
Well, a fella dressed ike a cowboy, playing excellent jazz trumpet on a rhythm & blues classic. I'm mightily confused now, lol...
Fantastic!
Excellent! OK band actually sounds like a train!
A great Tune from Louis Jordan.
And a good time was had by ALL!
Fantastico
To quote John Astin [ Gomez Adams ] from Nite Court , " I'm feeling much better now . "
Not to mention the balls, brass, you have to have to play this in public, stand up there in front of all those people...
That "Battle of the Brass" was fought with exactly one brass instrument, the trumpet. The other instruments are tenor saxophones, which are not brass, but woodwinds.
picky picky!
And even stranger, they are made of brass!
Must not have had Jim Finney on sound ya can tell because it's off. Nobody could mix a board like him 😉
Who is the young lady playing the violin?
Her name is Katie Shore. Excellent player and singer too.
What the hell is the drummer doing? He ain't swingin'.
Looks like a pretty neat Texas shuffle with his left hand...
The original version was from the legendary precursor to Rock and Roll Louis Jordan great cover
