Small correction, EXO WILL ALWAYS BE OT12 TO TRUE EXOLs but in our hearts will always be OT11 (Two former members TAO and LUHAN) but EXO REMAINS NINE (ninth member #LAYZHANG) IS STILL PART OF EXO.

@@keilinilu-po6610 I didn't see the letter "a" but still most people can get a bit confused (like me) if you don't add "10 out of 10" and that's understandable. I've been an EXO-L since their pre-debut and I may not remember every detail from that time since it been almost a decade now as well as a Kpop stan since 2007 but I knew of Kpop existence since 2004.
EXO is literally one of the biggest boy groups out there (probably the biggest after Bts rn,even tho they on military hiatus) few years back they were the biggest thing kpop ever made

Despite being the VOCAL KINGS of Kpop, EXO is not promoted outside Asia and since the start of group hiatus in 2019, due to military enlistment, the agency barely give them promotions even in South Korea.
Also, EXO's biggest fanbase is in China, the world's biggest entertainment market where EXO MV views are billions. And this is one of the reasons why the agency is gatekeeping EXO. Hence, not as popular as others in the West.

*EXO is LEGENDARY* even before the other Kpop groups that are "viral" today that you might know... EXO debuted in 2012, and they hold the record of "The Fastest Sold-out Concert in the World" since their concert tickets were sold-out in *0.2 second* and I mean, zero point two second, with about 1 million people trying to buy the tickets at the same time. *They're amazing live performers!* And they're in the Guinness Book of Records for the awards that they have on their shelves. *EXO is still very much active!* But, since the members are currently taking turns on finishing their military enlistment duty, EXO isn't doing much activities as a group in the last couple of years, though they still released an album last year in 2021, as a gift to their fans, but they didn't even promote that album! But, make no mistake, *all EXO members who aren't in the military are always very active in the entertainment industry with their solo careers!* That's the thing about EXO, they're already legendary since around their debut time, and all members are all-round artists, so they're not only busy with group activities anymore. EXO as a group is already so established, they don't need to go "viral"! And all EXO members are established artists too, and they have successful solo careers in the 3 big industries: Music, Acting (Movies, TV, and Musical Theatre), and Fashion/Beauty. EXO members aren't just kpop idols, they are *true artists!* But, yeah...they might seem on hiatus right now bcuz of the military duty, but they actually will release an album this year to celebrate their 10th Debut Anniversary! And the members are all actually pretty busy. The leader, Suho, will release an album on April 4th, Kai just released his 2nd EP back in November and he just became an ambassador for YSL Beauty, the youngest member, Sehun, just had a movie being released a couple of months ago that you can watch on Netflix now called "The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure", D.O have finished shooting 2 new movies, 1 will be released soon, and he's about to shoot a TV series soon, and Xiumin has been in the Korean adaptation of a Broadway Musical "Hadestown", which just won *Best Musical* (if I'm not mistaken). And 3 members are currently in the military. So, *EXO are very much active* , though as a group, they're not doing much activities for now. But, let's just wait for their new album this year, it's gonna be awesome! And btw, EXO has one of the top 3 most loyal fans in the world, even in their "hiatus", they're still being one of the top 3 kpop groups that's got tweeted the most! So, maybe you hadn't heard much about EXO, but just fyi, *EXO are LEGENDS!* ;)

I'm an EXO fan since Growl and saw many good opportunities that SM rejected. It's so upset.
I genuinely believe SM did not promote EXO in the west because of control. SM has some of the most talented artists on their label with top tier songwriters and producers and they IMO mismanage their blessings left and right. They knew EXO was worthy of international fame but didn't want to potentially lose control of the power they had over their artists, and potentially lose them after their contracts would have been up. It makes zero business sense to have a group like EXO and not promote them to the whole planet. Companies like Big Hit (BTS - "Hitman" Bang PD knew what he had and acted accordingly) Starship (Monsta X) and even JYP (Stray Kids) has learned that you can make a lot of money if you promote internationally.

EXO have been on hiatus since 2019 as they take turns enlisting. So far, only 2 youngest members left yet to enlist. For the duration, they do solo projects, such as special group albums (those that have yet to enlist or have completed), acting, solo albums, musical theatre, modelling, variety shows, etc. Out of 9 members, 6 already have successful solo albums. One of the main vocalists, Baekhyun, is the highest-selling solo artist in Korea. And their only Chinese member, Lay (Zhang Yixing), is one of the top 5 celebs in China, and his digital sales is massive. EXO are vocal kings of kpop so their songs are vocal-centric. Hope you will react to their live concert performance soon. They're even better live. They will be having a live online/offline fan event on 9 April 2022. Ticket sales start on 24 March. Since 3 are in the military and 1 in China, the fan event will only have 5 members. They will also perform a few songs.

I myself am an EXO-L Mama, consider the boys like little brothers, and have raised my kids to interpret my mood based on the EXO song they're hearing on Spotify. Ask at your own risk kind of thing. Also, each EXO member has his own diversity of talent. As a group, they're unquestionably the best. As individuals, equally so. That's what makes them great. Either way, listeners are blessed. The main vocal line: DO, King of R&B, best runs in KPop. Baekhyun, Genius Idol, with a vocal range he's still perfecting, Chen, EXOL pride and joy. If you want to understand his talent listen to Uprising, then Beautiful Goodbye, then his collab with Onestar May We Bye for just a taste. Then we have Kai -- Idol's Idol. So beautiful to watch, it's inspiring. Chanyeol and Sehun... Best Rap Line in the business. Both distinct, but excellent. Lay is his own genre in and of himself and constantly redefines the scope of his artistry. Unstoppable China Sheep! Our Healing Unicorn. Xiumin, as the oldest is the foundation of the group; He goes where he's needed and does what needs doing. The brightest smile in music. Then lastly, SUHO, our Guardian Leader. And all of them successful in their solo ventures: Collabs, production, choreography, writing, acting (stage and film), modeling, of course, music, and the list goes on and on. Just wanted to add in case someone forgot to mention: Although EXO are currently on hiatus until they're all done enlisting in the military, they are still a group. They're a 9 member group even though tensions between South Korea and China have made things iffy for Lay (the immensely talented member from China) being able to promote or perform consistently with EXO since like 2017, he was able to be included on their 2021 EP 'Don't Fight The Feeling' and was featured briefly in the video for that song (even though his parts had to be filmed and added from China). Ok so as you dig into the other songs dated 2015 back to 2012, you'll notice that there are 12 and then 10 members. EXO when they debuted started off as two groups. So complicated I know lmao So the two groups were EXO-K which stood for EXO Korean which featured only 6 Korean members (Suho, Baekhyun, Chanyeol, D.O, Kai and Sehun) the second group were called EXO-M which stood for EXO Mandarin (Chinese) and featured 4 Chinese members (Lay, Kris, Luhan and Tao) and 2 Korean members (Xiumin ***sounds like Shoomin *** and Chen) who also sang in Mandarin. Long story but eventually they combined both groups so that's why for instance depending on how far back you plan to go with the EXO videos, some videos will have 6 members in some videos having two versions of the same song (Korean and Mandarin) and some videos will have all 12 members once both groups were finally combined to make one group. In 2014 Kris and Luhan decided to leave which left them with 10 members. If you watch the 'Call Me Baby' video you'll see the final time where those 10 are in a video because a third Chinese member Tao left shortly after the filming of that video in 2015. After that EXO became a 9 member group. Then as I mentioned tensions between SK and China arose and Lay went back to China to focus as a solo artist where he's insanely successful. I hope you watch his Honey and Lit videos because he's ridiculously talented. That goes for all of the members in EXO. I have never seen a group that's this deep in talent. No joke. So I mention that because that's why you'll see them as 8 members in some other videos and live performances if you watch those which I hope you do because they're incredible live.
In 2019 is when it was time for members to start enlisting in the military. Xiumin as the oldest went first followed by D.O who is not one of the oldest but decided to enlist for his own reasons so that's why in the Obsession music video there are only 6 of them in that video and on that album titled Obsession. In 2021 they came out with the Don't Fight The Feeling video and mini album and that came out after Xiumin and D.O were finished serving and Suho and Chen had enlisted so that's why in that video and EP you will see 7 members (remember I mentioned Lay makes brief appearances in the video but is featured on all the songs on that album. Chanyeol and Baekhyun were the next to enlist while Chen is discharged in April. Suho was discharged in February of this year. After that there's still Kai and Sehun to enlist and then they're finished. I think EXO are dropping an album this year. Unfortunately all of them won't be back together as a complete group until possibly 2024 or 2025 depending when Kai and Sehun enlist and get discharged.
No idea what Lay's future plans are since his contract is up in April I think but he loves his EXO members a lot and has remained very loyal to them and the EXO fans but the problem is with SM entertainment and the way they treat EXO and the fans so IDK if Lay will still want to be signed with them or not. Idk how that will all work but if he doesn't resign with SM, I would not blame him because they're really pretty shitty to my boys and don't seem to remember or appreciate all that EXO has achieved and done to help that company become as successful as they've been. Anyway, not trying to bring any drama, just wanted to explain (the long way apparently lmao) why the videos will have different amount of members

EXO is my very first and only favorite
band in the entire K-POP industry.
To say that in EXO someone is better and someone is worse is simply IMPOSSIBLE because absolutely every participant is unrealistically talented, this is literally an IDEAL GROUP. Every EXO group and solo album is on a completely different level to this day, even after 10 years of career. I am absolutely not afraid to say that EXO is a real K-POP, now there are countless groups in the fourth generation, but they absolutely do not stand out in any way, trying to focus more and more on the West and POP music, thereby becoming monotonous and disposable. EXO is the only band in the entire K-POP industry, by the way, to this day where literally every member sings amazingly, including rappers and dancers. Minute popularity does not determine the talent and legendarity of the artist, because even after 10 years of his career, EXO songs are literally sung by the whole of Asia, because EXO is the real K-POP. I will never stop admiring this amazing band, even if 40 years pass, let a billion more bands like bts be released, they will never surpass EXO because their music is timeless, this is what defines the legendary artist.

It would be AMAZING if you did more EXO, a lot of us would love that. It is so nice that you guys like them. Fun fact EXO are reffered to (by other idol groups as well as the multi-fans) as The Vocal Kings Of Kpop thanks to their powerful live vocals. Their main vocal line is an absolute powerhouse (normaly there is one crazy vocalist per group max two but exo has three of them Chen, Baekhyun and D.O.). Plus ALL of them can sing, even the rappers are great vocalists.
Anyways if you liked EXO, it is worth checking out more of them, I have a feeling their songs will be your style. And do not worry, the EXO-Ls (fandom name) will come watch the vids (like crows spotting a shiny, we see - we want - we go for it - weeee~😃✨.......😂).

I can't lie. EXO are legends even during hiatus. Insanely talented with versatility and top tieer music, vocals and performance. Kai is my bias too. He alone is a whole new story.
EXO delivers any genre in music you place before them. Their talents knows no bounds, singers/rappers, instrumentalists, composers, lyricists, dancers, actors, models. Given their vocal ability, all 9, they are crowned The Vocal Kings. They can stand together as a group and also as soloists. They feed me my R&B/Soul better than the West, 90's music. Watch EXO - Call Me Baby, produced by Teddy Riley. Due to the producers they use they have their own styling, it can't be duplicated or replicated... you can try though. They have the best Discography I've heard in ages, not just in Kpop, in Music, Period. SM Entertainment their label doesn't invest in promotions. EXO doesn't find you, you find EXO.

EXO is Kpop royalty. You can’t find a Kpop group who’s made consistently good music like exo. Everyone’s got skips, but exo’s skips are in single digits. They have back to back no skip albums. And the vocals. Their vocals take you to heaven. An insanely talented group, I have to give it to them

Just reading through the comments...I am so proud of my EXO boys!! And equally proud of my fellow EXO-L's. Eri power is very strong, don't be confused. And EXO is still very much relevant and vital, even when on hiatus. Any group that can move 1M physical copies of a "special" album that wasn't promoted AT ALL, is pretty powerful in my book. Their music is top tier, and they really are quite versatile, and are a group that takes risks, but pulls them off.

Hi guys.. EXO is one of the biggest Kpop groups and they are Vocal Kings. They are not your typical Kpop group coz they mostly do R&B,old school type of music ,but they actually have a songs in all kind of genres,that's how versatile these R&B kings are. If you enjoy 80's and 90's R&B ,then EXO won't disappoint you. Our fanbase is huge,but because of fanwars between EXO-L'S (our fandom name) and Army ,we tend to not watch BTS reactions, so that's why you couldn't find us in ur comments. And i don't mean to disrespect any group or artist,but it is what it is...
What you saw in the "Obsession" MV was that EXO's doppelgangers were actually their alter ego clones and they were using their superpowers, such as Chanyeol with his fire power, Sehun uses his wind power to deflect the arrows, Baekhyun uses his power of light as a saber in the fencing battle, and Suho (the one with red hair) controls water in the room with all the pictures of water, etc. to fight their other selves. You see the planet on fire in the end of the MV because it's supposed to show how the world is coming to an end as EXO (the good guys in all black) and X-EXO (the evil ones in the colorful outfits with crazy hair and makeup) battle for control, etc. (Each of the members are playing 2 different characters -- there are only 6 people in this MV.)
X-EXO has been created by the evil Red Force and EXO and X-EXO are fighting each other. EXO are trying to prevent X-EXO from taking over and corrupting humanity and X-EXO are trying to stop EXO from finding the Tree of Life and putting the two halves back together and restoring peace, etc.
To truly understand EXO you need to understand that EXO debuted in 2012. "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV and it is how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept -- and since then, everything SM does branches off from that storyline. From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one, if not all of them, using their powers.
Now you also need to know that In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. So to really understand their full origin story you have to watch both the K and the M version of "Mama", because the EXO-K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the EXO-M version focuses on the M members and their powers.
However, since then, 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group (short answer to focus on their solo work back in China) but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 members.) However, now -- because they no longer have enough Chinese members -- they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce almost all of their MVs and main songs in both Korean and Mandarin they just now promote all as one big group EXO with 9 members. However, in the "Obsession" MV there are only 6 members -- Suho, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun -- because 2 of the members -- D.O. and Xiumin -- are on hiatus during this comeback as they serve in the military; and due to the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government, Lay -- their Chinese member -- was unable to participate in activities with the group.
So each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years we fans have started to create a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. However, the introduction of "Obsession's" part of the story really threw all of our theories for a loop and it has made us question everything we have ever thought was happening in EXO's storyline.
The MV starts out with the red and blue light because it's supposed to represent how EXO are currently battling with X-EXO and the Red Force for control. In EXO's MVs when you see red light or anything that is red, this represents the Red Force, and when you see blue light or anything that is blue, this is thought to represent EXO. Therefore, when you see red and blue in one scene or purple -- red and blue mixed together make purple -- this is showing how the line between the two sides is being blurred and they are fighting each other, etc.
Since "Obsession" some think maybe EXO has been trapped somewhere from the very beginning and it has been X-EXO that we have been following all along. But I think it's still even more complex than that. I think at times we have been watching EXO and at times we have been watching X-EXO -- with the release of "Obsession" we have only just discovering that the story hasn't necessarily been showing EXO the whole time.
With the new information provided to us through "Obsession," it also makes me question how Lay fits within the X-EXO/EXO storyline. Maybe he is one of the members who has been able to break free or avoid the Red Forces' control. In Lay's solo MV for "Sheep," the Allen Walker relift version, we see everything burning outside as if an apocalypse is happening. Maybe "Sheep" is showing us the planet burning from Lay's viewpoint, like we see the world burning at the end of the "Obsession" MV.
Also, I believe that the storyline in "Obsession" is connected to SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV storyline. If you pay attention to what Baekhyun and Kai were wearing in "Obsession," those outfits are very similar to the black outfits that Baekhyun and Kai are wearing in the "Jopping" MV. Kai is even wearing the same backpack parachute in both MVs. Which seems to be SM Entertainment's way of making sure we see the connection between those MVs. So it is thought that, as part of SuperM's storyline, EXO has gathered the best of the best of SM's groups -- EXO, Taemin/SHINee, NCT/WayV -- to help them battle the Red Force and maybe eventually take down X-EXO. Just like the Marvel Avengers come together as individual superheroes with their own storylines to create the Avengers and to fight evil, it is thought that SuperM is coming together to create the ultimate supergroup to help EXO fight the evil and corruption inflicted on humanity by the Red Force.
Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L (EXO fans) have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, concert VCRs, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all. And not only are EXO's and SuperM's MVs and storylines connected, but pretty much all of SM's groups have storylines and concepts that connect together, which is designed to become part of one giant graphic novel or movie in the SM Culture Universe.
To help you pinpoint the powers being used in EXO's MVs and live performances, here is a list of the members and what their special power is.
EXO-K
💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeon) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. That's why as the leader of EXO, his stage name is Suho.)
💡Baekhyun is a main vocalist and his superpower is the ability to control light
🔥Chanyeol is the main rapper and lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control fire and his spirit animal is the phoenix.
🌏D.O. (Do KyungSoo) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control earth (dirt) which gives him strength/force
☄Kai (Kim JongIn) is a main dancer, lead vocalist and sub-rapper and his power is teleportation (Kai means opening as in a door or gateway, so his stage name is meant to symbolize his role in the group.)
🌪Sehun is the youngest member of the group and he is a lead rapper, lead dancer and a vocalist -- his power is the ability to control wind
EXO-M
❄Xiumin (Kim MinSeok) is the oldest member of the group and he is a lead vocalist and lead rapper and his power is the ability to control snow/ice (frost)
🦄 Lay (Zhang Yixing) is the Chinese member of the group, he is a main dancer, lead vocalist and rapper -- his power is the ability to heal anything.
🌩 Chen (Kim JongDae) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control thunder/lightning/electricity
(As you can see, Xiumin and Chen were given stage names that sounded more Chinese so they would fit in better in EXO-M because they are the Korean members of the Chinese group)
The Chinese members who are no longer part of the group, but are still an important part of EXO's storyline:
🐉 Kris was the leader of EXO-M he was a main rapper and vocalist -- his power was the ability to fly and his spirit animal was a dragon (Kris left the group in April 2014.)
💭 Luhan was a main vocalist and his power was telekinesis (The ability to control things with his mind) (Luhan left the group in October 2014.)
⏰Tao (Z.Tao) was a lead rapper and vocalist and the martial artist of the group, so he did the flips and stunts in the group's routines. His power was the ability to control time (Tao ended activities with EXO in August 2015.)
