The rapper that you like is Sehun. He's the maknae. The other rapper with the abs is Chanyeol. They have a sub-unit, EXO-SC (S=ehun, C=Chanyeol). You should check them out. They have 2 albums.
What you saw in the "Obsession" MV was that EXO's doppelgangers were actually their alter ego clones and they were using their superpowers, such as Chanyeol with his fire power, Sehun uses his wind power to deflect the arrows, Baekhyun uses his power of light as a saber in the fencing battle, and Suho (the one with red hair) controls water in the room with all the pictures of water, etc. to fight their other selves. You see the planet on fire in the end of the MV because it's supposed to show how the world is coming to an end as EXO (the good guys in all black) and X-EXO (the evil ones in the colorful outfits with crazy hair and makeup) battle for control, etc. (Each of the members are playing 2 different characters -- there are only 6 people in this MV.) X-EXO has been created by the evil Red Force and EXO and X-EXO are fighting each other. EXO are trying to prevent X-EXO from taking over and corrupting humanity and X-EXO are trying to stop EXO from finding the Tree of Life and putting the two halves back together and restoring peace, etc. If you want to understand EXO's MVs then you need to know that EXO debuted in 2012. "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV and it is how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept -- and since then, everything SM does branches off from that storyline. From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one, if not all of them, using their powers. Now you also need to be aware that In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. So to really understand their full origin story you have to watch both the K and the M version of "Mama", because the EXO-K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the EXO-M version focuses on the M members and their powers. However, since then, 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group (short answer to focus on their solo work back in China) but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 members.) However, now -- because they no longer have enough Chinese members -- they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce almost all of their MVs and main songs in both Korean and Mandarin they just now promote all as one big group as EXO with 9 members. However, in the "Obsession" MV there are only 6 members -- Suho, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun -- because 2 of the members -- D.O. and Xiumin -- are on hiatus during this comeback as they serve in the military; and due to the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government, Lay -- their Chinese member -- was unable to participate in activities with the group. So each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years we fans have started to create a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. However, the introduction of "Obsession's" part of the story really threw all of our theories for a loop and it has made us question everything we have ever thought was happening in EXO's storyline. The MV starts out with the red and blue light because it's supposed to represent how EXO are currently battling with X-EXO and the Red Force for control. In EXO's MVs when you see red light or anything that is red, this represents the Red Force, and when you see blue light or anything that is blue, this is thought to represent EXO. Therefore, when you see red and blue in one scene or purple -- red and blue mixed together make purple -- this is showing how the line between the two sides is being blurred and they are fighting each other, etc. Since "Obsession" some think maybe EXO has been trapped somewhere from the very beginning and it has been X-EXO that we have been following all along. But I think it's still even more complex than that. I think at times we have been watching EXO and at times we have been watching X-EXO -- with the release of "Obsession" we have only just discovering that the story hasn't necessarily been showing EXO the whole time. With the new information provided to us through "Obsession," it also makes me question how Lay fits within the X-EXO/EXO storyline. Maybe he is one of the members who has been able to break free or avoid the Red Forces' control. In Lay's solo MV for "Sheep," the Allen Walker relift version, we see everything burning outside as if an apocalypse is happening. Maybe "Sheep" is showing us the planet burning from Lay's viewpoint, like we see the world burning at the end of the "Obsession" MV. Also, I believe that the storyline in "Obsession" is connected to SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV storyline. If you pay attention to what Baekhyun and Kai were wearing in "Obsession," those outfits are very similar to the black outfits that Baekhyun and Kai are wearing in the "Jopping" MV. Kai is even wearing the same backpack parachute in both MVs. Which seems to be SM Entertainment's way of making sure we see the connection between those MVs. So it is thought that, as part of SuperM's storyline, EXO has gathered the best of the best of SM's groups -- EXO, Taemin/SHINee, NCT/WayV -- to help them battle the Red Force and maybe eventually take down X-EXO. Just like the Marvel Avengers come together as individual superheroes with their own storylines to create the Avengers and to fight evil, it is thought that SuperM is coming together to create the ultimate supergroup to help EXO fight the evil and corruption inflicted on humanity by the Red Force. Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L (EXO fans) have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, concert VCRs, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all. And not only are EXO's and SuperM's MVs and storylines connected, but pretty much all of SM's groups have storylines and concepts that connect together, which is designed to become part of one giant graphic novel or movie in the SM Culture Universe. To help you pinpoint the powers being used in EXO's MVs and live performances, here is a list of the members and what their special power is. the reason you didn't really see much of Lay is because he hasn't really been active in EXO since he is a really famous artist in china. There's political problems between Korea ans Chin so SM kinda give him small parts and small appearences in the music videos but not too much. You will definitely see more of him in their older realeases tho

Practically every active idol group has covered this song (and if not Monster, they’ve covered Growl. But they’ve probably covered both), that first chorus with the X formation is like the MOST covered piece of choreography in kpop.

The song is called "Tempo" and the album is named Don't Mess Up My Tempo, so, the tempo keeps speeding up and slowing down. I think the change in tempo is also supposed to mirror the uncertainty and unsteadiness that EXO are feeling within the storyline in the MV. However, if you read the lyrics, you see that the song is talking to a girl and they are telling her, "Don't mess up my tempo." And yes, part of the tempo in the song is created by the squeak of what is thought to be bed springs. However, as with everything EXO does, there are duel meanings depending on how deeply you want to interpret the song and MV. On the surface the song and MV is meant to be enjoyed by the casual watcher and listener like you would any song on the radio, but if you want to delve in deeper and explore EXO's storyline, then there is so much more going on. As an SM Entertainment group, it shouldn't be a surprise that EXO are amazing vocalists -- hence the a capella part in the song. That is just what SM is known for. You can't be an SM artist without having amazing vocals and dance skills. That's just a fact about the type of people SM selects to become part of its company. All of SM's artists were first chosen for their visuals, vocals and/or dance skills, and even the rappers get intense training as vocalists. That is why SM is known as the vocal powerhouse of the industry. And EXO is a perfect example of that. The aesthetic of the "Tempo" MV is centered around the color red because the setting is supposed to be depicting the members under the Red Forces' control. Without going into too much detail -- there is so much going on in EXO's "Tempo" MV that it's hard to grasp it all -- what fan theories think is happening in "Tempo" is it is showing the members of EXO all trapped in separate dimensions. Each of those rooms, could possibly be a different dimension and that is why you see the glitches and why you hear Xiumin and Baekhyun with that computerized voice, because they aren't all in the same place at the same time, so their voices are being distorted as they try to connect between dimensions, etc. They also still could be trapped in different rooms within the maze, like what we saw them in their "Overdose" MV. For several of EXO's MVs we believe they are still trapped within the maze and they are continuously trying to find their way out. The maze seems to affect their connection to their powers and it clouds their minds and dulls their senses, so not only are they fighting the Red Force and X-EXO, but they are also struggling to break free from the fog the Red Force has them in. That's why you see some of the members just lazily sitting around and kind of blankly staring off into space at times. Baekhyun is the one that is singled out in the MV and he is the one standing above everything looking down, so this is one example of where we think that maybe he is the only one who has avoided the Red Force's control and he is observing everything that is going on from the outside. You see Chanyeol being interrogated by Chen with the inkblot test and that is thought to be the members trying to figure out who are the real EXO members and who are the evil X-EXO members created by the Red Force -- or who are the real members and who are the clones. At this point everyone is suspicious of each other and no one can be trusted. As you may have noticed, halfway through the MV Chanyeol's eyes and hair change color, so some think that this is either showing two different versions of Chanyeol who appear in two different time periods or dimensions, or one is Chanyeol the EXO member and one is Chanyeol the X-EXO clone. Often, when you see a character in one of SM's MVs with blue eyes or different eye colors this usually means they are not who they appear to be. The "Chess game" is thought to be supernatural EXO chess, and I don't think it's a game they are playing, but I think maybe it's something they are using to try to decipher a clue or figure out a way out of wherever the Red Force has them trapped at the moment. It's unclear right now what that scene is really telling us, but I have a feeling things will become clearer in the future as more of EXO's storyline is unveiled in future MVs and as SM's SM Culture Universe storyline continues to evolve. You also see Sehun on the motorcycle in this MV, which I now think is connected to the scene where we see him driving a motorcycle in EXO's "Lightsaber" MV and sitting on the motorcycle in their new "Don't Fight the Feeling" MV. In the very last scene, that is Baekhyun with that cube. I am not sure what that means, but I am sure it's foreshadowing something to come in the future with EXO's storyline. EXO's Chinese member, Lay, is in this MV, but you won't see or hear him sing or dance because you watched the Korean version, and at this time, because of the political issues between China and Korea, the Chinese government only gave him permission to appear in the Korean version of "Tempo", but he wasn't allowed to participate in the song. If you want to hear Lay sing you will have to watch the Mandarin version. Nothing in this MV is random or done just because, even the smallest of detail has been planned out to either connect to something to do with EXO's storyline from past MVs or it will become a key part to help explain something in one of their future MVs.
Yup, Lotto Baekhyun is something else. It's one of the main reason why he's my bias.. Note: You absolutely fall for our rap line, Chanyeol the orange hair in Lotto and our maknae, Sehun the eyebrows. Lucky for you, they form a subunit EXO-SC that have 2 albums..
I loved Lotto the first time I heard it because of the deadpan "lalalala" from Xiumin. Lay was in Lotto, Monster and a small part of Tempo. He was not always with EXO because there was political tension between China and S. Korea that kept him away. Lay is very famous and important in China. He was inactive in the group for a few years, but he was part of their last comeback.
Fan theories believe that "Lotto" is the prequel to "Monster." "Monster" is from EXO's EX'Act album and "Lotto" is from their EX'Act repackaged album, which came out a few weeks after "Monster" in 2016. So, to understand the story in "Lotto" and "Monster" you have to connect the two storylines. How I interpret things is that the story starts in "Lotto" as EXO goes undercover and works to take down the gambling ring, which is thought to probably be run by the Red Force, and now that we know about EXO's clones, from their "Obsession" storyline, maybe even X-EXO are involved. Fun fact: Kai -- EXO-K's main dancer -- isn't dancing in the "Lotto" MV. As you saw, Lay -- EXO-M's main dancer -- and Sehun -- EXO-K's other main dancer -- are the dancers highlighted in "Lotto." Kai was injured during this time and couldn't dance, which is why you see him sitting down in the MV. In live performances at this time, Kai is absent when Lay is part of the performance because he is still recovering. However, when Kai is back performing the song, Lay was absent because he was busy doing solo activities in China. If you watch any live TV network performances of "Lotto" you might also notice that they change the title of the song to "Louder" and the lyrics are changed to use the word louder instead of lotto as well. Gambling is illegal in Korea and it's one of those things that are banned from being talked about in mainstream media. So in order to make the song TV- and radio-friendly they had to change everything to "Louder." I think the two stories in both "Lotto" and "Monster" actually overlap. I think both MVs take place in the same location and around the same time frame, and in each MV you see the members in different moments as they try to destroy everything to do with this gambling ring. You see them breaking everything in both MVs and you see them smash the car in "Lotto," and in "Monster" you see the car has now been set on fire, and they burn the money and other things in "Lotto" as well, etc. At the end of "Lotto" you see the police or FBI have come in and are just starting to take the members into custody, but if you remember in "Monster" it shows all the members have now been arrested. So I see it as the fight starts in "Lotto" and continues in "Monster." At the end of "Monster" all the members were now in custody and Baekhyun rescues them as he releases them from the back of the police van allowing them to escape, etc. The birds you see in the cage are roosters -- cock fighting roosters to be exact -- and they are another form of gambling. And the dogs are probably guard dogs like what criminal enterprises use as part of their security to deter someone from causing trouble or wanting to rob them, etc. The dogs are thought to be part of the Red Forces' security efforts. Don't worry, SM and EXO don't like animal cruelty either, that's the whole point they are trying to make. It's just another form of evil that comes with gambling. Also remember, in the "Obsession" MV we see EXO are the members in all black and X-EXO are the members in the colorful outfits with the crazy makeup and hair. So, if you notice, in "Monster" the members are all in black for part of the MV (In "Monster" we also see EXO in black and red outfits, which we have now started to think is supposed to be X-EXO in those scenes because of the red on their outfits), and in "Lotto" they are pretty much in black or dark neutral colors, so that is why I think the story is being depicted from EXO's point of view. You also may notice that in "Monster," and in parts of "Lotto," Chanyeol has red hair. But at the end of "Lotto" when he is being arrested, he has blond hair. I think this also might mean that the Chanyeol with red hair is his X-EXO clone, while the blond Chanyeol is the good EXO member who is undercover, trying to accomplish his tasks here on Earth and help the girl, etc. So, in "Lotto" and "Monster" I think what we are watching are the EXO members trying to take down X-EXO and the Red Force and stop the evil and corruption that the Red Force is inflicting on the world, which is depicted here as corruption through illegal gambling. We are not really sure what the girl takes from Chanyeol at the end of "Lotto", but it definitely wasn't money. If you pay attention to the lyrics, one of the English lines is, "I don't need no money." That is why they burn the huge stack of cash. Most theories agree that the currency that EXO values the most is flowers. There is an overwhelming use of flowers in many of their MVs, and as you see in "Love Shot," for example, they aren't collecting money but flowers. And in EXO-CBX's "Hey Mama" and "Blooming Day" and in EXO's "Love Me Right", etc. you see them with flowers. My theory is that the girl is somehow connected to EXO's quest to find and protect the Tree of Life and that is why at the end of "Lotto" you see her secretly take something -- which, if you pause the MV and zoom in, you will see looks like a small video tape -- to somehow help them in their quest. The video tape is thought to be the video that D.O. is filming with the camcorder in the middle of "Lotto." It's still unclear at this point how the girl fits in the storyline, but I think, or at least I hope, that in the future we will discover more about her and what significance she has within the story. As mentioned before, some say the "girl" that EXO is always singing about and you sometimes see in their MVs -- like in "Lotto" -- is a manifestation of the heart of the Tree of Life and that is why the members are always rescuing or protecting the girl, etc. And why all their songs are about being in love with a girl or being controlled by the power of the girl, such as in "Overdose" for example. Or how they talk about knowing they are bad news for the girl but they want her anyway and they can't help it, but in the end they know they might destroy her -- as they say in "Monster," etc. etc. When you think of the girl as the heart of the Tree of Life the mystery begins to unfold even more. It's been seveal years since "Lotto" came out and I have seen the MV dozens of times, and each time I watch it I still see something different and am still working to unravel more clues. But "Lotto" and "Monster" are the two EXO MVs that have me the most confused. I'm still struggling to really grasp the full story those MVs are trying to tell. I think part of the reason why I find these two MVs so confusing, is the fact that they depart the most from the linear storyline and the story jumps back and forth between the two MVs so much that it's difficult to put the events in order to really make a clear picture.

EXO always delivers, they literally are the definition of a group with "no skip" albums. Their b-sides are incredible. I highly recommend their live performances, like their acoustic melody, "White Noise + Thunder + PLAYBOY + Artificial Love" performance, and "MAMA + Monster + Wolf" performance from their previous concerts. I never understood that either and then they say they’re K-pop fans? How can you even call yourself a K-pop fan when you only know or listen to one group/artist? No, you’re just a fan of someone who happens to be a K-pop artist.. That’s like me saying “Oh, I love Korean food!” but I’ve only had Japchae… there’s so many other dishes out there I haven’t tried or don’t want to try. As you are starting to see, everything SM does is connected to EXO's storyline like one giant graphic novel or mystery movie series. Each new MV or project that is created is like another chapter in SM's SM Culture Universe. And "Monster" is another piece of that story. "Monster" was released in 2016, so there are 9 members in this MV. As the English lines in "Monster" say ... They're "Creeping, Creeping Creeping .... Creeping in your heart babe" "You can call me Monster (because) I'm creeping in your heart babe." "She got me goin' crazy." The song's called "Monster," so the words are about acting like a monster: "Don't be afraid, love is the way ... I'm sorry, you make me sooo craaaazzzy, you know you dooooo." So the floating watch and the car that is on fire in reverse, etc., I think was -- on top of being a metaphor in the story -- also supposed to be the members using their superpowers. And the snake, like a monster, mirrors the beat of the song, which kind of slithers like a snake as a metaphor for the way the guy slithers in and out of the relationship stealing warmth and affection from the girl, but in the end, leaving her cold and alone like a cold-blooded snake, etc. The snake is red, which means that it is also connected to the Red Force.
However, the lyrics of the song have very little to do with the story in the MV. You should look up an English translation of the lyrics. Because the lyrics tell a different story than the story in the MV. In the song the members are talking about a girl and they are telling the girl that "You can call me Monster" because I know I am bad for you and I will ruin you. I know that when we are over that I will have destroyed everything that is good about you, but I don't care because I want you so much that it doesn't matter to me. But the MV is about EXO's origin story and about the fact that they have come to Earth on a mission. Also, the majority of the choreography for "Monster" has to do with the members using their powers, so when/if you watch the dance practice and/or watch a live performance, if you know what you are looking for, you will see that each move is done for a very specific reason. The X they make to represent EXO is only the beginning of the story in their choreography. Every move of the choreography has been designed to be an extension of their story and it uses elements of their dance to represent several of the members using their powers. For example, D.O. has the power of super strength, so during his part in the song and choreography you will see that he waves his hands and the other members are pushed away from him or pulled toward him. When you see Suho in the middle of the group and they have a hold of his arms, he rotates his body around like swirling water because Suho has the power to control water. Xiumin has the power to control snow/ice/frost, so during one part of the choreography you will see that each of the members pause as if frozen as he moves in front of them. Sehun has the power to control wind, so during his parts, you will see the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm. And the part where they are sitting on the ground is supposed to represent a sundial -- EXO gets their power from the eclipse and their powers are affected by planetary and solar phenomenon, so the sundial is meant to represent the passing of time and their connection to the sun. You should also make note that "Lotto" is a prequel to "Monster," so when you watch "Lotto," just keep in mind that what you saw happen in "Monster" is what is taking place after or in conjunction with the events in "Lotto". How "Monster" and "Lotto" tie into EXOs larger storyline is a little open ended, but because "Lotto" is thought to be the prequel to "Monster," I think the story starts out in "Lotto" where the members have somehow infiltrated this big gambling ring and are undercover as they work to uncover a clue or something they need in order to accomplish their tasks here on Earth. I think the underground gambling establishment is run by a gang of bad guys who are probably members of the Red Force. "Lotto" is where we are introduced to a girl who is being held captive. And ultimately, I think what EXO are trying to do is rescue the girl from the Red Force, but they are trying to do it without blowing their cover or being found out. So, that's why you see in "Lotto," and continued in "Monster," the members are fighting against the police because the police have come in to take down the gambling ring and rescue the girl, which is also what EXO are trying to do. However, the members of EXO don't want to be discovered, so they play along as if they are part of the bad guys. EXO are supposed to be going about their tasks here on Earth incognito, and humanity is never supposed to find out that EXO are other-worldly beings, so they are trying to keep a low profile. As we see in the end of "Monster," Baekhyun disguises himself as one of the police and helps the other members escape from the back of the police van before they are taken to jail and/or captured by the Red Force, etc. (However, if you look closely, the members who are in the back of the police van are dressed in red, so the ones who Baekhyun rescued may be X-EXO and not EXO like we originally thought. Although I'm not sure whether at this point Baekhyun realizes these aren't the EXO members. Or maybe Baekhyun is also a member of X-EXO. Just another giant mystery we have yet to solve.) You also see Lay crouched in the middle of what looks like a pile of people -- I'm not sure whether these are the FBI agents, or if these are members of the Red Force -- and I think he is checking to make sure they are OK and possibly trying to use his power of healing to fix things and heal the injured. Because some theories believe that EXO are traveling between time periods and dimensions, I think in "Monster" they also might be showing how some of the members are arriving on scene at different moments in the timeline of events that are taking place in the MV -- the members don't necessarily arrive at the location together -- as explained in their Pathcode teaser videos leading up to their "Call Me Baby" comeback. For instance, in "Monster" you also see Kai standing on or near a giant pile of people as well, and he seems to be standing over them. Some have pointed to this as possibly showing evil X-EXO Kai -- Kai's alter ego clone that was created by the Red Forced and introduced in EXO's "Obsession" MV -- who has done something bad, but I think this may be showing good EXO Kai, who has just shown up at that moment, observing what has taken place. Because Kai has the power of teleportation he is the one that is in charge of bringing the members together and traveling between time and space, so I think he has shown up from a different time or place and is now trying to figure out what has happened, etc. In EXO's "Obsession" MV the members in the bright colored clothing with the crazy makeup and hair are supposed to be X-EXO and the ones in the black or dark colored clothing are supposed to be EXO. So, in the parts where they are dressed in all black in "Monster" I think this is showing EXO, and where you see them in the clothing with red accents, this might by showing X-EXO. At the time when "Monster" was first released, we had no idea about X-EXO's existence, but since "Obsession", we have started to go back and reanalyze some of their older MVs, and it appears that what we thought was always EXO, may have been in fact X-EXO some of the time. As you can see, EXO's story is always evolving and changing, and just when you think you have one part understood, SM introduces a new piece of the story and changes the direction of the narrative. Unfortunately, as you can see, what makes EXO's storyline even more difficult to follow is the fact that nothing is ever in chronological order. So you really have to pay close attention to every detail, to even begin to make connections.

As with most of EXO's songs and MVs -- such as "Love Shot" -- the song and the story in the MV are two separate things. There are two messages that the story tells in the MV. Yes, the story in the MV is loosely based on the lyrics of the song, but the main point of the MV is mostly to tell another part of EXO's story. There are 8 members in "Love Shot." Lay, their Chinese member, was not able to participate in this MV. Part of EXO's mission is they are constantly fighting against and battling the Red Force for control. The Red Force is thought to be here on Earth inflicting their evil agenda and corrupting humanity and causing all the bad things that are happening in the world such as war, hate and destruction of the environment, etc. While on their quest to locate and protect the Tree of Life, EXO is also tasked with trying to fix everything the Red Force has caused. And because EXO is trying to undo and prevent the Red Force from accomplishing their goals, the Red Force is also trying to take down EXO by capturing them, corrupting them and standing in their way, etc. So each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story. In "Love Shot" I'm not sure why EXO first ended up at the gas/service station or the cinema/movie theater, but the story in this MV is all about how the Red Force is trying to corrupt and control them. For example, supposedly, most fans agree, that Xiumin may have been captured by the Red Force -- or maybe it's his X-EXO clone. If you notice, Xiumin is squaring off with a group of guys with guns, but a few seconds later we see someone with a mask and when the mask is removed you see that it's Xiumin, which seems to show that he may not be who we think he is. And when Chen is sitting in the theater watching the film, you see what fans agree is Suho, as the leader, probably trying to protect the members and prevent Chen from watching the film by covering his eyes. Whatever is being played on the movie screen is thought to probably be the Red Force trying to control EXO. You also see references to the movie screen with Chen being projected on the screen in their "Lucky One" MV and the scene where Suho is running through the forest in their "For Life" MV, etc. These instances seem to be showing times when the Red Force are using the videos to brainwash EXO and to keep them incapacitated so they don't try to fight back or escape, etc. In "Love Shot" one theory is that the members are fighting to discover who has been corrupted by the Red Force and who may not be who they say they are, etc., which I see as a sort of continuation of the story in their "Tempo" MV, which is why you see them being very suspicious pointing their guns -- which are filled with alcohol -- at each other. (Get it? the song is called "Love Shot" so it has a double meaning: Love Shot like a gun and Love Shot like a shot of alcohol. :D) The flowers have two purposes, one is they represent Love and EXO is collecting love, but also the flowers are a big part of EXO's storyline. There has been a flower theme that continues throughout all of EXO's MVs. The flowers are thought to be something that EXO is collecting and trying to get rid of to prevent the Red Force from being able to control people, etc. They often collect the flowers and then burn them, like you see in "Love Shot" and in EXO-CBX's "Hey Mama" MV. Blue roses also have some sort of significance, but I am not sure what yet -- we see EXO with a blue rose in their concert performances of "Lightsaber" and we see Sehun with a blue rose in "Love Shot." Some of what happens in this story is explained by past MVs and other parts will hopefully, be explained as the story continues in future MVs. Money is the root of all evil and people's obsession with material goods and wealth could be one of the ways the Red Force is using to control humanity. Which is why you see EXO trying to take down the gambling ring in their "Monster" and "Lotto" MVs and why they talk about money in EXO-CBX's Japanese song "Ka-Ching," etc. They also burn the giant stack of money in "Monster"/"Lotto." it's not an isolated incident, so it's obviously a significant thing within EXO's storyline. Baekhyun is actually one of the main characters in EXO's storyline so he is often set apart or singled out in EXO's MVs. He is often the one that stands alone or is highlighted in the story. For example, in their "Power" MV Baekhyun has been singled out and is sort of separated from the other members, which seems to suggest maybe Baekhyun is the only member that hasn't been corrupted by the Red Force. So that is thought to be why in "Tempo" and in "Love Shot" we see Baekhyun standing on top of the building looking down on the rest of the members, almost as if he is observing them from another dimension or from another time period. Baekhyun is often the one who is going behind the sense to help EXO. For example, we see him disguised as a member of the police as he rescues the other members from the back of the police van in "Monster," and we see Baekhyun facing off with and confronting Xiumin in "Love Shot." :D And now that we have discovered that the Red Force has created X-EXO, EXO's evil clones, as part of "Obsession's" story, I am also starting to think that maybe in "Love Shot" we aren't just seeing EXO. I think maybe when we see the members dressed in the bright colors -- for example, when they are in their suits -- this might be X-EXO and when we see the scenes were they are in black, this could be EXO. Because in their "Obsession" MV we find out that the members in all black are EXO the good guys, and when we see them in the colorful outfits with the crazy hair and makeup that is their X-EXO alter ego clones. This could also explain why Kai is dressed in a red suit. Although I am sure their stylists put him in red because he looks really good in it, I think SM chose it because it's another hidden message within the storyline. Usually, whenever we see red in EXO's MVs this has something to do with the Red Force, so for a long time I have been wondering why then would they put Kai in a red suit? However, now that we know about the X-EXO members, I am starting to think that when we see the members in their colorful suits and clothing in "Love Shot" this is actually the X-EXO members, so when we see Kai in red this is his alter ego clone, as well as the other members when we see them in suits, etc. I also think maybe the members who are collecting all the flowers in "Love Shot" are really X-EXO, as part of some evil plot, etc. If you look at the members expressions and the outfits they are wearing in the scenes where you see them collecting the flowers, this reminds me a lot of what they looked like in their "Ko Ko Bop" MV. Since "Obsession," theories now think that what the "Ko Ko Bop" MV was showing us was X-EXO right after they were created as they are becoming acclimated to the world and learning how to use their powers, etc. Which would explain why everything in the "Ko Ko Bop" MV is so brightly colored as well. But you should also know that no one really knows for sure what is happening in any of EXO's MVs. There are well known theories and storylines that are accepted within the fandom which we think might explain what is happening in each MV. And there are theories about how each MV is connected and where each falls within their larger storyline, but nothing is set in stone. Fan theories are constantly evolving and changing with every introduction of a new piece of the puzzle.

The only two songs where I feel like there's a proper line distribution is Lucky one and Love Me Right. But yeah, he doesn't get much lines. That used to happen with Sehun too (He does get screen time, contrary to Lay who doesn't get neither), but since the Kokobop era he has been getting more lines. The other member that is often forgotten is Xiumin, which is a total waste of talent because he's an ace and is good at everything. What you saw in the "Obsession" MV was that EXO's doppelgangers were actually their alter ego clones and they were using their superpowers, such as Chanyeol with his fire power, Sehun uses his wind power to deflect the arrows, Baekhyun uses his power of light as a saber in the fencing battle, and Suho (the one with red hair) controls water in the room with all the pictures of water, etc. to fight their other selves. You see the planet on fire in the end of the MV because it's supposed to show how the world is coming to an end as EXO (the good guys in all black) and X-EXO (the evil ones in the colorful outfits with crazy hair and makeup) battle for control, etc. (Each of the members are playing 2 different characters -- there are only 6 people in this MV.)
X-EXO has been created by the evil Red Force and EXO and X-EXO are fighting each other. EXO are trying to prevent X-EXO from taking over and corrupting humanity and X-EXO are trying to stop EXO from finding the Tree of Life and putting the two halves back together and restoring peace, etc.
If you want to understand EXO's MVs then you need to know that EXO debuted in 2012. "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV and it is how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept -- and since then, everything SM does branches off from that storyline. From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one, if not all of them, using their powers.
Now you also need to be aware that In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. So to really understand their full origin story you have to watch both the K and the M version of "Mama", because the EXO-K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the EXO-M version focuses on the M members and their powers.
However, since then, 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group (short answer to focus on their solo work back in China) but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 members.) However, now -- because they no longer have enough Chinese members -- they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce almost all of their MVs and main songs in both Korean and Mandarin they just now promote all as one big group as EXO with 9 members. However, in the "Obsession" MV there are only 6 members -- Suho, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun -- because 2 of the members -- D.O. and Xiumin -- are on hiatus during this comeback as they serve in the military; and due to the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government, Lay -- their Chinese member -- was unable to participate in activities with the group.
So each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years we fans have started to create a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. However, the introduction of "Obsession's" part of the story really threw all of our theories for a loop and it has made us question everything we have ever thought was happening in EXO's storyline.
The MV starts out with the red and blue light because it's supposed to represent how EXO are currently battling with X-EXO and the Red Force for control. In EXO's MVs when you see red light or anything that is red, this represents the Red Force, and when you see blue light or anything that is blue, this is thought to represent EXO. Therefore, when you see red and blue in one scene or purple -- red and blue mixed together make purple -- this is showing how the line between the two sides is being blurred and they are fighting each other, etc.
Since "Obsession" some think maybe EXO has been trapped somewhere from the very beginning and it has been X-EXO that we have been following all along. But I think it's still even more complex than that. I think at times we have been watching EXO and at times we have been watching X-EXO -- with the release of "Obsession" we have only just discovering that the story hasn't necessarily been showing EXO the whole time.
With the new information provided to us through "Obsession," it also makes me question how Lay fits within the X-EXO/EXO storyline. Maybe he is one of the members who has been able to break free or avoid the Red Forces' control. In Lay's solo MV for "Sheep," the Allen Walker relift version, we see everything burning outside as if an apocalypse is happening. Maybe "Sheep" is showing us the planet burning from Lay's viewpoint, like we see the world burning at the end of the "Obsession" MV.
Also, I believe that the storyline in "Obsession" is connected to SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV storyline. If you pay attention to what Baekhyun and Kai were wearing in "Obsession," those outfits are very similar to the black outfits that Baekhyun and Kai are wearing in the "Jopping" MV. Kai is even wearing the same backpack parachute in both MVs. Which seems to be SM Entertainment's way of making sure we see the connection between those MVs. So it is thought that, as part of SuperM's storyline, EXO has gathered the best of the best of SM's groups -- EXO, Taemin/SHINee, NCT/WayV -- to help them battle the Red Force and maybe eventually take down X-EXO. Just like the Marvel Avengers come together as individual superheroes with their own storylines to create the Avengers and to fight evil, it is thought that SuperM is coming together to create the ultimate supergroup to help EXO fight the evil and corruption inflicted on humanity by the Red Force.
Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L (EXO fans) have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, concert VCRs, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all. And not only are EXO's and SuperM's MVs and storylines connected, but pretty much all of SM's groups have storylines and concepts that connect together, which is designed to become part of one giant graphic novel or movie in the SM Culture Universe.
To help you pinpoint the powers being used in EXO's MVs and live performances, here is a list of the members and what their special power is.
EXO-K
💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeon) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. That's why as the leader of EXO, his stage name is Suho.)
💡Baekhyun is a main vocalist and his superpower is the ability to control light
🔥Chanyeol is the main rapper and lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control fire and his spirit animal is the phoenix.
🌏D.O. (Do KyungSoo) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control earth (dirt) which gives him strength/force

So so so so so much to see and react to. Even the teasers we get hold information that may help us figure out the storyline. Even their very first teasers. the reason you didn't really see much of Lay is because he hasn't really been active in EXO since he is a really famous artist in china. There's political problems between Korea ans Chin so SM kinda give him small parts and small appearences in the music videos but not too much. Girl out here leaving Monster for last. Monster is like THE most iconic choreography in the industry. Practically every active idol group has covered this song (and if not Monster, they’ve covered Growl. But they’ve probably covered both), that first chorus with the X formation is like the MOST covered piece of choreography in kpop.
My absolute favorite group...i hope you watch more of their songs..they are great live! They have some insanely sexy live performances! The two rappers are Chenyeol and Sehun (the mackne)
The song is called "Tempo" and the album is named Don't Mess Up My Tempo, so, the tempo keeps speeding up and slowing down. I think the change in tempo is also supposed to mirror the uncertainty and unsteadiness that EXO are feeling within the storyline in the MV.
However, if you read the lyrics, you see that the song is talking to a girl and they are telling her, "Don't mess up my tempo." And yes, part of the tempo in the song is created by the squeak of what is thought to be bed springs. However, as with everything EXO does, there are duel meanings depending on how deeply you want to interpret the song and MV. On the surface the song and MV is meant to be enjoyed by the casual watcher and listener like you would any song on the radio, but if you want to delve in deeper and explore EXO's storyline, then there is so much more going on.
As an SM Entertainment group, it shouldn't be a surprise that EXO are amazing vocalists -- hence the a capella part in the song. That is just what SM is known for. You can't be an SM artist without having amazing vocals and dance skills. That's just a fact about the type of people SM selects to become part of its company. All of SM's artists were first chosen for their visuals, vocals and/or dance skills, and even the rappers get intense training as vocalists. That is why SM is known as the vocal powerhouse of the industry. And EXO is a perfect example of that.
The aesthetic of the "Tempo" MV is centered around the color red because the setting is supposed to be depicting the members under the Red Forces' control. Without going into too much detail -- there is so much going on in EXO's "Tempo" MV that it's hard to grasp it all -- what fan theories think is happening in "Tempo" is it is showing the members of EXO all trapped in separate dimensions. Each of those rooms, could possibly be a different dimension and that is why you see the glitches and why you hear Xiumin and Baekhyun with that computerized voice, because they aren't all in the same place at the same time, so their voices are being distorted as they try to connect between dimensions, etc.
They also still could be trapped in different rooms within the maze, like what we saw them in their "Overdose" MV. For several of EXO's MVs we believe they are still trapped within the maze and they are continuously trying to find their way out. The maze seems to affect their connection to their powers and it clouds their minds and dulls their senses, so not only are they fighting the Red Force and X-EXO, but they are also struggling to break free from the fog the Red Force has them in. That's why you see some of the members just lazily sitting around and kind of blankly staring off into space at times.
Baekhyun is the one that is singled out in the MV and he is the one standing above everything looking down, so this is one example of where we think that maybe he is the only one who has avoided the Red Force's control and he is observing everything that is going on from the outside.
You see Chanyeol being interrogated by Chen with the inkblot test and that is thought to be the members trying to figure out who are the real EXO members and who are the evil X-EXO members created by the Red Force -- or who are the real members and who are the clones. At this point everyone is suspicious of each other and no one can be trusted.
As you may have noticed, halfway through the MV Chanyeol's eyes and hair change color, so some think that this is either showing two different versions of Chanyeol who appear in two different time periods or dimensions, or one is Chanyeol the EXO member and one is Chanyeol the X-EXO clone. Often, when you see a character in one of SM's MVs with blue eyes or different eye colors this usually means they are not who they appear to be.
The "Chess game" is thought to be supernatural EXO chess, and I don't think it's a game they are playing, but I think maybe it's something they are using to try to decipher a clue or figure out a way out of wherever the Red Force has them trapped at the moment. It's unclear right now what that scene is really telling us, but I have a feeling things will become clearer in the future as more of EXO's storyline is unveiled in future MVs and as SM's SM Culture Universe storyline continues to evolve.
You also see Sehun on the motorcycle in this MV, which I now think is connected to the scene where we see him driving a motorcycle in EXO's "Lightsaber" MV and sitting on the motorcycle in their new "Don't Fight the Feeling" MV.
In the very last scene, that is Baekhyun with that cube. I am not sure what that means, but I am sure it's foreshadowing something to come in the future with EXO's storyline.
EXO's Chinese member, Lay, is in this MV, but you won't see or hear him sing or dance because you watched the Korean version, and at this time, because of the political issues between China and Korea, the Chinese government only gave him permission to appear in the Korean version of "Tempo", but he wasn't allowed to participate in the song. If you want to hear Lay sing you will have to watch the Mandarin version.
Nothing in this MV is random or done just because, even the smallest of detail has been planned out to either connect to something to do with EXO's storyline from past MVs or it will become a key part to help explain something in one of their future MVs.

I loved Lotto the first time I heard it because of the deadpan "lalalala" from Xiumin.
Lay was in Lotto, Monster and a small part of Tempo. He was not always with EXO because there was political tension between China and S. Korea that kept him away. Lay is very famous and important in China. He was inactive in the group for a few years, but he was part of their last comeback.
Xiumin's Lalala is the best, and i wanna hear more people talking about it ♡

Fan theories believe that "Lotto" is the prequel to "Monster." "Monster" is from EXO's EX'Act album and "Lotto" is from their EX'Act repackaged album, which came out a few weeks after "Monster" in 2016. So, to understand the story in "Lotto" and "Monster" you have to connect the two storylines. How I interpret things is that the story starts in "Lotto" as EXO goes undercover and works to take down the gambling ring, which is thought to probably be run by the Red Force, and now that we know about EXO's clones, from their "Obsession" storyline, maybe even X-EXO are involved.
Fun fact: Kai -- EXO-K's main dancer -- isn't dancing in the "Lotto" MV. As you saw, Lay -- EXO-M's main dancer -- and Sehun -- EXO-K's other main dancer -- are the dancers highlighted in "Lotto." Kai was injured during this time and couldn't dance, which is why you see him sitting down in the MV.
In live performances at this time, Kai is absent when Lay is part of the performance because he is still recovering. However, when Kai is back performing the song, Lay was absent because he was busy doing solo activities in China.
If you watch any live TV network performances of "Lotto" you might also notice that they change the title of the song to "Louder" and the lyrics are changed to use the word louder instead of lotto as well. Gambling is illegal in Korea and it's one of those things that are banned from being talked about in mainstream media. So in order to make the song TV- and radio-friendly they had to change everything to "Louder."
I think the two stories in both "Lotto" and "Monster" actually overlap. I think both MVs take place in the same location and around the same time frame, and in each MV you see the members in different moments as they try to destroy everything to do with this gambling ring. You see them breaking everything in both MVs and you see them smash the car in "Lotto," and in "Monster" you see the car has now been set on fire, and they burn the money and other things in "Lotto" as well, etc.
At the end of "Lotto" you see the police or FBI have come in and are just starting to take the members into custody, but if you remember in "Monster" it shows all the members have now been arrested. So I see it as the fight starts in "Lotto" and continues in "Monster." At the end of "Monster" all the members were now in custody and Baekhyun rescues them as he releases them from the back of the police van allowing them to escape, etc.
The birds you see in the cage are roosters -- cock fighting roosters to be exact -- and they are another form of gambling. And the dogs are probably guard dogs like what criminal enterprises use as part of their security to deter someone from causing trouble or wanting to rob them, etc. The dogs are thought to be part of the Red Forces' security efforts. Don't worry, SM and EXO don't like animal cruelty either, that's the whole point they are trying to make. It's just another form of evil that comes with gambling.
Also remember, in the "Obsession" MV we see EXO are the members in all black and X-EXO are the members in the colorful outfits with the crazy makeup and hair. So, if you notice, in "Monster" the members are all in black for part of the MV (In "Monster" we also see EXO in black and red outfits, which we have now started to think is supposed to be X-EXO in those scenes because of the red on their outfits), and in "Lotto" they are pretty much in black or dark neutral colors, so that is why I think the story is being depicted from EXO's point of view.
You also may notice that in "Monster," and in parts of "Lotto," Chanyeol has red hair. But at the end of "Lotto" when he is being arrested, he has blond hair. I think this also might mean that the Chanyeol with red hair is his X-EXO clone, while the blond Chanyeol is the good EXO member who is undercover, trying to accomplish his tasks here on Earth and help the girl, etc.
So, in "Lotto" and "Monster" I think what we are watching are the EXO members trying to take down X-EXO and the Red Force and stop the evil and corruption that the Red Force is inflicting on the world, which is depicted here as corruption through illegal gambling.
We are not really sure what the girl takes from Chanyeol at the end of "Lotto", but it definitely wasn't money. If you pay attention to the lyrics, one of the English lines is, "I don't need no money." That is why they burn the huge stack of cash. Most theories agree that the currency that EXO values the most is flowers. There is an overwhelming use of flowers in many of their MVs, and as you see in "Love Shot," for example, they aren't collecting money but flowers. And in EXO-CBX's "Hey Mama" and "Blooming Day" and in EXO's "Love Me Right", etc. you see them with flowers.
My theory is that the girl is somehow connected to EXO's quest to find and protect the Tree of Life and that is why at the end of "Lotto" you see her secretly take something -- which, if you pause the MV and zoom in, you will see looks like a small video tape -- to somehow help them in their quest. The video tape is thought to be the video that D.O. is filming with the camcorder in the middle of "Lotto." It's still unclear at this point how the girl fits in the storyline, but I think, or at least I hope, that in the future we will discover more about her and what significance she has within the story.
As mentioned before, some say the "girl" that EXO is always singing about and you sometimes see in their MVs -- like in "Lotto" -- is a manifestation of the heart of the Tree of Life and that is why the members are always rescuing or protecting the girl, etc. And why all their songs are about being in love with a girl or being controlled by the power of the girl, such as in "Overdose" for example. Or how they talk about knowing they are bad news for the girl but they want her anyway and they can't help it, but in the end they know they might destroy her -- as they say in "Monster," etc. etc. When you think of the girl as the heart of the Tree of Life the mystery begins to unfold even more.
It's been seveal years since "Lotto" came out and I have seen the MV dozens of times, and each time I watch it I still see something different and am still working to unravel more clues. But "Lotto" and "Monster" are the two EXO MVs that have me the most confused. I'm still struggling to really grasp the full story those MVs are trying to tell. I think part of the reason why I find these two MVs so confusing, is the fact that they depart the most from the linear storyline and the story jumps back and forth between the two MVs so much that it's difficult to put the events in order to really make a clear picture.

As you are starting to see, everything SM does is connected to EXO's storyline like one giant graphic novel or mystery movie series. Each new MV or project that is created is like another chapter in SM's SM Culture Universe. And "Monster" is another piece of that story.
"Monster" was released in 2016, so there are 9 members in this MV.
As the English lines in "Monster" say ... They're "Creeping, Creeping Creeping .... Creeping in your heart babe" "You can call me Monster (because) I'm creeping in your heart babe." "She got me goin' crazy." The song's called "Monster," so the words are about acting like a monster: "Don't be afraid, love is the way ... I'm sorry, you make me sooo craaaazzzy, you know you dooooo."
So the floating watch and the car that is on fire in reverse, etc., I think was -- on top of being a metaphor in the story -- also supposed to be the members using their superpowers. And the snake, like a monster, mirrors the beat of the song, which kind of slithers like a snake as a metaphor for the way the guy slithers in and out of the relationship stealing warmth and affection from the girl, but in the end, leaving her cold and alone like a cold-blooded snake, etc. The snake is red, which means that it is also connected to the Red Force.
However, the lyrics of the song have very little to do with the story in the MV. You should look up an English translation of the lyrics. Because the lyrics tell a different story than the story in the MV. In the song the members are talking about a girl and they are telling the girl that "You can call me Monster" because I know I am bad for you and I will ruin you. I know that when we are over that I will have destroyed everything that is good about you, but I don't care because I want you so much that it doesn't matter to me. But the MV is about EXO's origin story and about the fact that they have come to Earth on a mission.
Also, the majority of the choreography for "Monster" has to do with the members using their powers, so when/if you watch the dance practice and/or watch a live performance, if you know what you are looking for, you will see that each move is done for a very specific reason.
The X they make to represent EXO is only the beginning of the story in their choreography. Every move of the choreography has been designed to be an extension of their story and it uses elements of their dance to represent several of the members using their powers. For example, D.O. has the power of super strength, so during his part in the song and choreography you will see that he waves his hands and the other members are pushed away from him or pulled toward him. When you see Suho in the middle of the group and they have a hold of his arms, he rotates his body around like swirling water because Suho has the power to control water. Xiumin has the power to control snow/ice/frost, so during one part of the choreography you will see that each of the members pause as if frozen as he moves in front of them. Sehun has the power to control wind, so during his parts, you will see the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm. And the part where they are sitting on the ground is supposed to represent a sundial -- EXO gets their power from the eclipse and their powers are affected by planetary and solar phenomenon, so the sundial is meant to represent the passing of time and their connection to the sun.
You should also make note that "Lotto" is a prequel to "Monster," so when you watch "Lotto," just keep in mind that what you saw happen in "Monster" is what is taking place after or in conjunction with the events in "Lotto".
How "Monster" and "Lotto" tie into EXOs larger storyline is a little open ended, but because "Lotto" is thought to be the prequel to "Monster," I think the story starts out in "Lotto" where the members have somehow infiltrated this big gambling ring and are undercover as they work to uncover a clue or something they need in order to accomplish their tasks here on Earth. I think the underground gambling establishment is run by a gang of bad guys who are probably members of the Red Force.
"Lotto" is where we are introduced to a girl who is being held captive. And ultimately, I think what EXO are trying to do is rescue the girl from the Red Force, but they are trying to do it without blowing their cover or being found out. So, that's why you see in "Lotto," and continued in "Monster," the members are fighting against the police because the police have come in to take down the gambling ring and rescue the girl, which is also what EXO are trying to do. However, the members of EXO don't want to be discovered, so they play along as if they are part of the bad guys. EXO are supposed to be going about their tasks here on Earth incognito, and humanity is never supposed to find out that EXO are other-worldly beings, so they are trying to keep a low profile.
As we see in the end of "Monster," Baekhyun disguises himself as one of the police and helps the other members escape from the back of the police van before they are taken to jail and/or captured by the Red Force, etc. (However, if you look closely, the members who are in the back of the police van are dressed in red, so the ones who Baekhyun rescued may be X-EXO and not EXO like we originally thought. Although I'm not sure whether at this point Baekhyun realizes these aren't the EXO members. Or maybe Baekhyun is also a member of X-EXO. Just another giant mystery we have yet to solve.)
You also see Lay crouched in the middle of what looks like a pile of people -- I'm not sure whether these are the FBI agents, or if these are members of the Red Force -- and I think he is checking to make sure they are OK and possibly trying to use his power of healing to fix things and heal the injured.
Because some theories believe that EXO are traveling between time periods and dimensions, I think in "Monster" they also might be showing how some of the members are arriving on scene at different moments in the timeline of events that are taking place in the MV -- the members don't necessarily arrive at the location together -- as explained in their Pathcode teaser videos leading up to their "Call Me Baby" comeback. For instance, in "Monster" you also see Kai standing on or near a giant pile of people as well, and he seems to be standing over them. Some have pointed to this as possibly showing evil X-EXO Kai -- Kai's alter ego clone that was created by the Red Forced and introduced in EXO's "Obsession" MV -- who has done something bad, but I think this may be showing good EXO Kai, who has just shown up at that moment, observing what has taken place. Because Kai has the power of teleportation he is the one that is in charge of bringing the members together and traveling between time and space, so I think he has shown up from a different time or place and is now trying to figure out what has happened, etc.
In EXO's "Obsession" MV the members in the bright colored clothing with the crazy makeup and hair are supposed to be X-EXO and the ones in the black or dark colored clothing are supposed to be EXO. So, in the parts where they are dressed in all black in "Monster" I think this is showing EXO, and where you see them in the clothing with red accents, this might by showing X-EXO. At the time when "Monster" was first released, we had no idea about X-EXO's existence, but since "Obsession", we have started to go back and reanalyze some of their older MVs, and it appears that what we thought was always EXO, may have been in fact X-EXO some of the time.
As you can see, EXO's story is always evolving and changing, and just when you think you have one part understood, SM introduces a new piece of the story and changes the direction of the narrative.
Unfortunately, as you can see, what makes EXO's storyline even more difficult to follow is the fact that nothing is ever in chronological order. So you really have to pay close attention to every detail, to even begin to make connections.

My fave group
As with most of EXO's songs and MVs -- such as "Love Shot" -- the song and the story in the MV are two separate things. There are two messages that the story tells in the MV. Yes, the story in the MV is loosely based on the lyrics of the song, but the main point of the MV is mostly to tell another part of EXO's story.
There are 8 members in "Love Shot." Lay, their Chinese member, was not able to participate in this MV.
Part of EXO's mission is they are constantly fighting against and battling the Red Force for control. The Red Force is thought to be here on Earth inflicting their evil agenda and corrupting humanity and causing all the bad things that are happening in the world such as war, hate and destruction of the environment, etc. While on their quest to locate and protect the Tree of Life, EXO is also tasked with trying to fix everything the Red Force has caused. And because EXO is trying to undo and prevent the Red Force from accomplishing their goals, the Red Force is also trying to take down EXO by capturing them, corrupting them and standing in their way, etc.
So each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story.
In "Love Shot" I'm not sure why EXO first ended up at the gas/service station or the cinema/movie theater, but the story in this MV is all about how the Red Force is trying to corrupt and control them. For example, supposedly, most fans agree, that Xiumin may have been captured by the Red Force -- or maybe it's his X-EXO clone. If you notice, Xiumin is squaring off with a group of guys with guns, but a few seconds later we see someone with a mask and when the mask is removed you see that it's Xiumin, which seems to show that he may not be who we think he is.
And when Chen is sitting in the theater watching the film, you see what fans agree is Suho, as the leader, probably trying to protect the members and prevent Chen from watching the film by covering his eyes. Whatever is being played on the movie screen is thought to probably be the Red Force trying to control EXO.
You also see references to the movie screen with Chen being projected on the screen in their "Lucky One" MV and the scene where Suho is running through the forest in their "For Life" MV, etc. These instances seem to be showing times when the Red Force are using the videos to brainwash EXO and to keep them incapacitated so they don't try to fight back or escape, etc.
In "Love Shot" one theory is that the members are fighting to discover who has been corrupted by the Red Force and who may not be who they say they are, etc., which I see as a sort of continuation of the story in their "Tempo" MV, which is why you see them being very suspicious pointing their guns -- which are filled with alcohol -- at each other. (Get it? the song is called "Love Shot" so it has a double meaning: Love Shot like a gun and Love Shot like a shot of alcohol. :D)
The flowers have two purposes, one is they represent Love and EXO is collecting love, but also the flowers are a big part of EXO's storyline. There has been a flower theme that continues throughout all of EXO's MVs. The flowers are thought to be something that EXO is collecting and trying to get rid of to prevent the Red Force from being able to control people, etc. They often collect the flowers and then burn them, like you see in "Love Shot" and in EXO-CBX's "Hey Mama" MV. Blue roses also have some sort of significance, but I am not sure what yet -- we see EXO with a blue rose in their concert performances of "Lightsaber" and we see Sehun with a blue rose in "Love Shot." Some of what happens in this story is explained by past MVs and other parts will hopefully, be explained as the story continues in future MVs.
Money is the root of all evil and people's obsession with material goods and wealth could be one of the ways the Red Force is using to control humanity. Which is why you see EXO trying to take down the gambling ring in their "Monster" and "Lotto" MVs and why they talk about money in EXO-CBX's Japanese song "Ka-Ching," etc. They also burn the giant stack of money in "Monster"/"Lotto." it's not an isolated incident, so it's obviously a significant thing within EXO's storyline.
Baekhyun is actually one of the main characters in EXO's storyline so he is often set apart or singled out in EXO's MVs. He is often the one that stands alone or is highlighted in the story. For example, in their "Power" MV Baekhyun has been singled out and is sort of separated from the other members, which seems to suggest maybe Baekhyun is the only member that hasn't been corrupted by the Red Force. So that is thought to be why in "Tempo" and in "Love Shot" we see Baekhyun standing on top of the building looking down on the rest of the members, almost as if he is observing them from another dimension or from another time period. Baekhyun is often the one who is going behind the sense to help EXO. For example, we see him disguised as a member of the police as he rescues the other members from the back of the police van in "Monster," and we see Baekhyun facing off with and confronting Xiumin in "Love Shot." :D
And now that we have discovered that the Red Force has created X-EXO, EXO's evil clones, as part of "Obsession's" story, I am also starting to think that maybe in "Love Shot" we aren't just seeing EXO. I think maybe when we see the members dressed in the bright colors -- for example, when they are in their suits -- this might be X-EXO and when we see the scenes were they are in black, this could be EXO. Because in their "Obsession" MV we find out that the members in all black are EXO the good guys, and when we see them in the colorful outfits with the crazy hair and makeup that is their X-EXO alter ego clones.
This could also explain why Kai is dressed in a red suit. Although I am sure their stylists put him in red because he looks really good in it, I think SM chose it because it's another hidden message within the storyline. Usually, whenever we see red in EXO's MVs this has something to do with the Red Force, so for a long time I have been wondering why then would they put Kai in a red suit? However, now that we know about the X-EXO members, I am starting to think that when we see the members in their colorful suits and clothing in "Love Shot" this is actually the X-EXO members, so when we see Kai in red this is his alter ego clone, as well as the other members when we see them in suits, etc.
I also think maybe the members who are collecting all the flowers in "Love Shot" are really X-EXO, as part of some evil plot, etc. If you look at the members expressions and the outfits they are wearing in the scenes where you see them collecting the flowers, this reminds me a lot of what they looked like in their "Ko Ko Bop" MV. Since "Obsession," theories now think that what the "Ko Ko Bop" MV was showing us was X-EXO right after they were created as they are becoming acclimated to the world and learning how to use their powers, etc. Which would explain why everything in the "Ko Ko Bop" MV is so brightly colored as well.
But you should also know that no one really knows for sure what is happening in any of EXO's MVs. There are well known theories and storylines that are accepted within the fandom which we think might explain what is happening in each MV. And there are theories about how each MV is connected and where each falls within their larger storyline, but nothing is set in stone. Fan theories are constantly evolving and changing with every introduction of a new piece of the puzzle.

To say that in EXO someone is better and someone is worse is simply IMPOSSIBLE because absolutely every participant is unrealistically talented, this is literally an IDEAL GROUP. Every EXO group and solo album is on a completely different level to this day, even after 10 years of career. I am absolutely not afraid to say that EXO is a real K-POP, now there are countless groups in the fourth generation, but they absolutely do not stand out in any way, trying to focus more and more on the West and POP music, thereby becoming monotonous and disposable. EXO is the only band in the entire K-POP industry, by the way, to this day where literally every member sings amazingly, including rappers and dancers. Minute popularity does not determine the talent and legendarity of the artist, because even after 10 years of his career, EXO songs are literally sung by the whole of Asia, because EXO is the real K-POP. I will never stop admiring this amazing band, even if 40 years pass, let a billion more bands like bts be released, they will never surpass EXO because their music is timeless, this is what defines the legendary artist.

LOVE YOUR REACTION OMG. AND 41:58 yes, unfortunately Lay doesn't get much screentime or lines when he's in exo, but in his solo stuff he delivers. The only two songs where I feel like there's a proper line distribution is Lucky one and Love Me Right. But yeah, he doesn't get much lines. That used to happen with Sehun too (He does get screen time, contrary to Lay who doesn't get neither), but since the Kokobop era he has been getting more lines. The other member that is often forgotten is Xiumin, which is a total waste of talent because he's an ace and is good at everything. I think that their best distributed song (screentime and lines wise) is Love Me Right which is why that's my fave era
