We, as AA parents, have got to do better. My sons (or anyone else at my home) were never allowed to watch Jerry Soringer, Maury, any housewives show, bad girls, or any show in which buffoonery, violence, and indiscriminate sex was the norm. Nor shows with freeloading and chronically unemployed AA males. I didn't want my sons to think it was acceptable to be an adult male and unemployed unless you were a stay-at-home dad. No matter how much anyone complained, only G-rated rap, including when it was adults only.
My sons are by no means saints, but they are gainfully employed, faithful to the woman in their life with no kids. They're both in their 30s, and to this very day, their friends pull their sagging pants up as soon as they see me and don't curse in front of me.
My parents were from the South, and my mom didn't play. I still cross my ankles when seated on a couch or chair.

I’m familiar with the school district. It serves predominantly AA, Hispanics and poor whites. As a whole the education is sub par, and many schools are unaccredited. They don’t care about those kids. That rapper is from the school district. It’s as good as it gets.
I seriously doubt this decision was left up to young teachers. Schools won’t even let the veteran teachers have a real say in anything, so why would young teachers be allowed that? 😂 What I do think it probably resulted from is the higher ups knowing that their students are familiar with her and probably thought she could get them hype about school.
