Jericho and Benoit were just coming in as Bulldog was on his way out. But yeah, he would have paired better with those guys since they could go in the ring more than the guys Bulldog was paired with.

Unfortunately a combination of his demons and that horrendous back injury he suffered in WCW he was never the same and probably shouldn't have been wrestling. You could tell the lights were on but there was nobody home. Tragic end to a tragic run. RIP Bulldog.
I think Bulldog's big push in early 90's raised fans expectations too high. Remember seeing him returning to wwf in '94 and that run wasn't too great either. What was disapointing for me back then, was his look. Gone were the iconic dreads. Still he had some good moments and title wins post 1992 but ultimately his drug issues and injuries kept him from being in his prime. Overall a great and legendary wrestler that everyone remembers who witnesses the golden age of wrestling.
Davey Boy Smith is one of a kind. I grew up on Harts VS Bulldogs Superstars Sat Morn. I did not miss a ppv from 87 to 97. Every one of us will die. Only one man put Bret Hart down for 3 at Wembley. Rest Bulldog, we will see you again one day.
You can see how Bulldog took bumps later in the run and the clear hesitancy he had due to the pain he had. I dont remember him being around in early 2000, thought he was gone in 99 :o
I think Bulldog was hired partly because of Owen. But I think they really thought they were getting the Bulldog who left in 97 and were unaware of how injured he was. I've never seen a wrestler so visibly in pain. I remember being very disappointed in 99 when he came out in jeams to butt rock. I was happy he was in his old gear and thought he might get a world title, since by 99 it seemed like everyone got a chance and that problem got worse in 24 years. Notably this is the end of D'Lo Brown as a player. Val Venis was in a weird limbo thru 98 and 99, he acts like a heel but is cheeered. Late 99 they try to move him to the main event and s full heel, but the problem persists snd gets the European belt as a consolation prize. The Eddy match was good enough, but the WWF got what they needed. Whoch os typical for how they deal with tragegy.
I liked the bump in the corner he'd do. And no one can deliver a vertical suplex like he did. But he was well and truly past his prime at this point. Kinda sad to watch, to be honest, considering how good he was in his 80's heyday...
I assume Crash was able to win the Hardcore Title in the last match because he'd implemented the 24/7 rule by that point; it stated that as long as a referee was present, the title had to be defended at any point.
Sure 10:50 Test with that elbow drop off the top of the cage was impressive but Rikishi doing a "Samoan" Splash on Val Venus from the middle of the top of the cage was maybe the most impressive. I just wish I could remember what PPV it was so it'd be easier to find, he hit it so perfect and it was facing the hard cam and I think it was for the European or IC title at the time. Matter of fact I'm going to make that the next thing I watch when this is over. 😄👍
@@fumpr84 thanks. Although it turned out all I had to type "Rikishi spla" and "Rikishi splash off cage" auto suggested. It was like the 2nd video that popped up. 😄👍
Early 90's trapzilla Bulldog with the braids looked like a billion dollars and he was a really good wrestler. If it wasn't for the steroid scandal he'd have probably had a long main event career in the WWF. But when he came back in the jeans and the short hair and with noticeably smaller build it wasn't anywhere close to what it was. You can see in his walks to the ring that he wasn't up for this run at all.
The Mean street possee is what killed his European title run, because even though he was not good anymore, his opponents were selling everything he did like the legend he was.
I'll always remember this run with the British Bulldog for winning the hardcore title against the Big Bossman and for his run with the European title and his feuds with Val Vennis and D'Lo Brown.
I remember when he came back and all I could think was this is just some generic washed up 80s wrestler on too much steroids looking like a hot dog and wearing jeans for some reason. He really felt out of place for the attitude era

I loved Davey Boy it was so hard to see him like that. I had no idea as a kid what was happening but he was never the same after he cut his hair
Barry Windham used the Superplex all the time... from the second rope, even. I love when basic moves like that end a match. It's realistic
You can see how Bulldog took bumps later in the run and the clear hesitancy he had due to the pain he had. I dont remember him being around in early 2000, thought he was gone in 99 :o
He was gone 5 months into 2000, but it's a wonder how he made it into the video game WWF No Mercy when that game released way later that year.
@@vgf64-27I loved playing as Bulldog in No Mercy. His powerhouse moveset was fun in that game.
Throughout his final WWE run, it seems like the bulldog's skin just got redder and redder.
Was quite a hotdog
He actually red in WCW too. In his promo with Alex Wright. He was totally bloated and his chubby cheek was red.

I think that's a side effect of roids
"Where's my title shot?!"
bulldog got me into wrestling with his jacked body, the cornrows and his press slam ☘☘
Great video
Lol at Dutty Wine playing in the background
1:21 loool, he looks like a real-life bulldog pinning Boss Man like that. 😂😂
This run was just BIZARRE.
Enjoyed that thanks - for the upload
Your commentary is gold
Bulldog in jeans was awesome! With such a large roster, it was good to see him face many different opponents then.
I liked the bump in the corner he'd do. And no one can deliver a vertical suplex like he did. But he was well and truly past his prime at this point. Kinda sad to watch, to be honest, considering how good he was in his 80's heyday...
Just how crack cocaine was the final run of the British Bulldog?
Since the WCW war games trap door witch broke his back,he never was the same again.
I assume Crash was able to win the Hardcore Title in the last match because he'd implemented the 24/7 rule by that point; it stated that as long as a referee was present, the title had to be defended at any point.
Bulldog was still jacked af
4 matches in and idk if he a heel or a face 😂
@@briannovak7651He was face when he won hardcore belt and gave belt to al snow , then went heel after that wasn't it ?
it's sad hearing he passed away at 39, when I'm 39 this year. He was so young and still had a lot to give to the business.
Remember...not only is British Bulldog gonna win, wether he wants to or not...hes also bizarre
Lol love it 😊
Me and my cousins still yell that every now and then
@@MightMouse2174 lol
@MightMouse2174 yeah, wrestling has given us a bunch of those over the years. ITS ME AUSTIN! is my daily driver
I saw British Bulldog at an indy show just days before he died. RIP Bulldog.
Loved the British Bulldog with Jeans ....
Sure 10:50
Test with that elbow drop off the top of the cage was impressive but Rikishi doing a "Samoan" Splash on Val Venus from the middle of the top of the cage was maybe the most impressive. I just wish I could remember what PPV it was so it'd be easier to find, he hit it so perfect and it was facing the hard cam and I think it was for the European or IC title at the time.
Matter of fact I'm going to make that the next thing I watch when this is over.
😄👍
Fully Loaded 2000.
@@fumpr84 thanks. Although it turned out all I had to type "Rikishi spla" and "Rikishi splash off cage" auto suggested. It was like the 2nd video that popped up.
😄👍

This run looked really fun in this video…
Shane McMahon had 28 matches in WWE since his return in 2016. Any chance of a Ring of the Hawk video on that?
Early 90's trapzilla Bulldog with the braids looked like a billion dollars and he was a really good wrestler. If it wasn't for the steroid scandal he'd have probably had a long main event career in the WWF. But when he came back in the jeans and the short hair and with noticeably smaller build it wasn't anywhere close to what it was. You can see in his walks to the ring that he wasn't up for this run at all.
It must have been fun for Mick to wrestle Bulldog in the WWF considering his early tag match against the Bulldogs where Mick got injured.
That press slam was awesome though, not sure I've seen a better one actually!
I remember when he came back and all I could think was this is just some generic washed up 80s wrestler on too much steroids looking like a hot dog and wearing jeans for some reason. He really felt out of place for the attitude era
Bulldog looked like a retired military vet, who wondered off the street
