we have to thank eric clapton , for bringing us the music of the GREAT & Legandary Robert Johnson , i got the "complete recordings" and everytime i listen to "sweet home chicago" or "red hot " its running cold down my back , and my hairs are standing up , Johnsons Delta Blues style is so GENIUS ! THANK YOU ERIC "!!
This version is on the DVD that comes with "Me and Mr. Johnson". It is really fantastic how Clapton handles everything. A loud mention to Chris Stainton on the piano, he is really great and a quiet guy who's been around for many yearsand is just like the good wines!!
@torivas this is from the sessions for robert j cd + dvd. the dvd bonus is great with live sessions like this plus clapton talking about robert johnson.
@torivas this is from a DVD called 'Sessions for Robert J' It's all video of clapton and his band in the studio playing RJ music, along with Clapton in some old hotels recording, and some good interviews. VERY GOOD. I reccommend it.
You have to buy the CD & DVD box set "Sessions for Robert J" from which this video is taken. Amazingly, I believe there is no audio recording available of this song performed by Mr Clapton. This is my favourite Robert Jonhson cover by Clapton. IT IS GOOD!!!
@LINKMASTERX It's on itunes from the album 'Me and Mr. Johnson'. You can buy it as a single track off there for $1.29. He also plays it on the Crossroads 2004 album if you can find that.
@torivas The song is recorded on the SET DVD / CD "Sessions for Robert Johnson", only on the DVD. The recording here is part of it. PS: My best DVD ever !!
@Harlehz i think its just a gibson but i don't know which one... i'm sure it's not a gretsch, gretsch belongs to Fender so they won't create a guitar with gibson... strange but cool guitar
Hi, Aldair! 👋🏾 Robert Johnson is considered by most to be the Father of the Delta Blues, and I completely agree. I'm not a musician, but a lifelong Blues fan/Nerd, and I would place him as the most influential contributor to this style/genre of Blues. I don't disagree with OMalleyBot however; this song is performed in Ragtime style by Eric, but he absolutely kept the integrity of the original recording like no one else ever could have!! 😀 🥰

Chris was on great form with EC at the Royal Albert Hall last week.

The RHCP version leaves Robert Johnson rolling in his grave.......Clapton did it justice!
I believe this line up is the perfect blues band ever was, and will be,,,
Eric Clapton they Best play guitar great cover ..
I am the biggest peppers fan you will ever meet. but this blows their version right out the water
Im imagining some big musical dancing scene with clapton on top of an ice cream truck singing this and kids getting icecream and dancing lol
Amazing Billy Preston Organ
WooHoo! Love it!
Awesome! Boys are jammin.
jajajaja voy a escucharlo mil veces porque me encanta el ritmo que tiene este tema :D y ademas no aguante de ir darle duro al piano ♪♫♪♫♪♫

EXCELENTE ERIC Y ROBERT!!!
Way WAY better than the version released on the album
On the DVD it comes a few minutes before this, as they warm up for this one! Cheers
@torivas This album is Me and Mr. Johson...
Eric playing the songs of one and only Robert Johson
@reanemusic It's a Gibson Gretsch. Not quite sure what model but it looks like a Chet Atkin's hollow body one.
It's a mid 50s Byrdland, one of the really early ones with Alinco Vs, pre PAF humbuckers....very very rare!
@LINKMASTERX It's on itunes from the album 'Me and Mr. Johnson'. You can buy it as a single track off there for $1.29. He also plays it on the Crossroads 2004 album if you can find that.
Billy!!
1:09 - 1:28
billy preston is monster
Now I'm fiending for candy... red, hot cinnamon-flavoured Hot Tamales, that is!
awesome
and gadd laying it down so sweet
@torivas its "Sessions for Robert Johnson" ;)
that's definitly best .
That guitar player is Doyle Bramhall II from Austin, TX, -- Lefty upsidedown
Billy’s playing on this is better than the version Eric put on the album. Amazing.
2 August 2023
absolutely amazing...
Tune! X
@torivas "sessions for robert J"
missing alot if you do not see the whole DVD
@bkmege you are correct it is a Gibson Byrdland
@bkmege i think it's a Gibson L-5 from the 70s or something . I could be wrong though.
this version is fuckin' terrific
R.h.c.p. Rulez!!!.
I eat some tamales in some sundays.
Tamal with bread and coffee hmmm!!! yummy yummy!!!!
I can hear the words in this one.
@wootoodoo It looks like a Gibson L-5 rather than an ES-175.
simplemente digno de robert johnson ,homenajeado por el gran eric clapton
...a rare gem...
@torivas The song is recorded on the SET DVD / CD "Sessions for Robert Johnson", only on the DVD. The recording here is part of it.
PS: My best DVD ever !!
@mxb95
The guitar is a Gibson Byrdland.
Clapton is still God...
@9drew1 No, it isn't, but it's quiet similar to it. The slide guitar is acoustic on CD and the organ is replaced by a harp.
nice sóng..wonder about the feeling
@torivas its a track off "me and mr. johnson"
@Harlehz its the same song but not this specific performance, im looking for this seesion with Doyle's (short but so sweet) electric slide solo
chili peppers thought they had this until Clapton stepped up.
@iamthesenate08 Some people will never like covers. I personally think Clapton did a brilliant job with this song.
@torivas ME & MR. JOHNSON....ITS BEEN OUT A FEW YEARS
❤🔝❤
genial!!!!!!
@lawchihei Yes, his name is Doyle Bramhall II.
@torivas PS2: On this DVD you can see Billy Preston, a few months before he's gonnaway from us....
Yes, that's Billy Preston on the organ, per the liner notes.
Bellissima cover....bravo Eric
I'm eating a tamale right now
@Harlehz i think its just a gibson but i don't know which one... i'm sure it's not a gretsch, gretsch belongs to Fender so they won't create a guitar with gibson...
strange but cool guitar
Johnson ---> Clapton ----> Red Hot Chili Peppers - Three miracles in one song...
Thanx
white room
man, I love youtube
how much for one?
@torivas Session for Robert J. Jhonson I recon! Not sure though!
Its funny to hear this after the red hot chili peppers version :)
And Billy is the one who plays the piano!
Clapton, great guitar player, vocalist and all around great musician....I hate talneted people.
@DarioCoates yeah that`s him
@torivas EC album there red hot "me and mr johnson
YES
I was waiting for him to yell "ERIC" and start soloing....
WHY IS IT THAT AN MP3 OF JUST THIS SONG DOESNT EXIST!!!! IF THERE IS PLZ POST LINK!
Yup it's a Byrdland from the 50s, you can tell by the Alnico Vs
see you in Poland - 07.06.2013
is that Doyhall Bramham II on slide?
Steve Gadd--he's a gas!
Unless your question is rethoric, I would say that more people knows Clapton than R. Johnson.
what genre would this be considered?
I'd say ragtime blues

How has this got more views than the Robert Johnson version?
I Might think it's a Gibson Byrdland?
Is that billy preston on the organ?
STEVE GADDS THE DRUMMER, HE'S FUCKING AWESOME!!!!
