Here’s my analysis:
A girl falls for a boy. She feels like she’s in love, like he loves her. She trusts him and gives herself to him, doing things with him she had never felt comfortable doing with anybody else.
When she sees the other couple’s shadows, it’s like she can see that this “dance” is not unique to their relationship, like he could easily have a different partner. Maybe she begins to suspect he will leave her after taking what he wanted.
She walks down a sea of men with hers facing the opposite direction. Perhaps he’s different from the other men that have hurt her...
She realizes at the end he was never that serious about the relationship. He got what he wanted, and he’s into the next fling. It leaves her feeling like she was used, like she was naive, childish for thinking the love was real. It wasn’t. She should’ve known better.
Olivia Hahn that also mirrors the shift from a major-ish key and melody to a more minor and brooding one
Olivia Hahn I saw the other couple more as her saying “wait I want what they have. It seems better than what we have” like the classic judgement and envy of other couples. Either way that means it’s a good video if it starts a discussion. Love it!
damn.. i relate HARD
I feel like this is about Dodie's abusive relationsip when she was young but I really don't know
I kinda saw it as... She saw how good the other couples were together, but he kept distracting her and telling that they're okay. That they're just like the others, they can dance the same way
(There's a part in the dance where he covers her ears, as if he's blocking out everyone else and keeping her focus on him)(ew)
Wow she is so good at no laughy just dancey
Nancy Ebi *shrek song* TUN TUN TUN TUN TUN! TUN TUN TUN TUN TUN! 😂😂😂
Lmao! Awesome comment! 😄❤
I lol'd XDXDXD Oooooh the memories hahah
Best comment, bahahaha! Good times.
I WAS 100% THINKING THIS
That dancer is a fantastic actor, his facial expressions were perfect - especially in the bridge when he looks up at her! It's so perfectly self assured.
I always think this about dodie, her ability to control the expressions on her face is amazing. Even when dancing her control and use of expression is stunning.
He's so gorgeous too 😍
AGREED
At first I thought it was Jack Howard, I was shoked to see him dancing xD
Also that light jaw clench when she turns away from him (bridge)
“there’s a name for boys like you”
damn right there is
it’s chad
SPOT. ON.
This is brilliant 😂 chads are always chavs
my dad's name is Chad 🥺
TEA
totallynotayjay AHHAHAHAHA HONESTLY THOOO
I love how he spins her away and it's up to her to come running back
I wish you could hear the audible gasp that left my mouth when I read that
That is such a cool observation!
My jaw literally dropped
Like actually
90% of his movements are controlling her movements and making her come back to him. It left me shook when I watched/listened a second time.
Miss Katonic oh my ducking god
Saw her live a few weeks ago when she performed this before releasing! She just prefaced it by saying "here's a song about fuckboys"
stxrfish YES LOL
i went to the new york show what about you?
same! was at the show in Philly
i love sloths I was at the new york show too!! she was incredible!!

TESSA LISTENS TO DODIE-
*deep breath*
I can die now
I got this song suggestion while watching Crush...what a coincidence
I saw a comment saying: “I love how he pushes her away and she’s always the one to turn back to him.”
But also notice that when she try’s to walk away by herself (when she was looking at the other couple) he went to her. He wanted to control and manipulate her more. He didn’t want her to stray away from him.
It’s so common in abusive relationships and it’s so well done and incredibly subtle.
Subtle *
Im not sure if this was also something to note, but i feel like most of his dance moves put her in the supporting possition, the one not taking as much control over the dance.
Sophia Lee
And him holding her wrists in such a controlling matter. They don’t hold each other like him and the blonde. It’s just him controlling her like a puppeteer
@@bryncronin668 i think that's really just mixing in traditional dancing styles, like the guy typically would lead. but human history has always had a patriarchy sooo makes sense. i think i could have been intentional but not 100% sure
Sophia Lee yeah. I recognized that since my husband described his past relationship with his ex that was abuse.
me : *thinking dodie couldnt get anymore talented*
dodies dance skills : hold my beer
Keira Twomey no more like hold my ukulele
@@jacebeauton7322 lol
no, no. it’s *”hold my head a little higher.”*
bro shes not even doing anything, why you think she hire a professional lmao
@@ellipsis4868 so confused
When dodie turned around and saw him with another girl immediately that’s when it hit me. This is about an abusive relationship and how it’s up to her to run back but we both know he has twisted her enough that she will come back. Many people are in toxic relationships and don’t know it because that is how they were taught to love
I thought it was about f**kboys
Josie M. Yea I saw in concert and before she started singing it she sang ‘she’ and said, “that song was about a girl, and this one is about boys. Particularly, fuckboys :-)”
The song could be about fuckboys but the video could be about an abusive relationship
leafy green foots nah it’s not about abusive relationships. There’s zero depiction of abuse just manipulation. It’s about duck boys she said it herself.
@@crystalbethseizetheday8669 i was confused when i read your comment😂😂 i was like " WHAT THE HECK IS DUCK BOYS?" but then i realized it was just a typo🤣 and yea i agree with you
the beginning is like he’s dancing her on a string,
he never holds her hands, always by the wrist,
every time he pushes her away, he has to trust that she’ll run back to him
At the end when she doesn't/takes too long he finds another girl
How can i like this 1000 times
And also when she goes too far out looking at the other couple, he pulls her back himself, which I took as him trying to isolate her from friends or others so she doesn’t realize something’s wrong
The only time he holds her hands is when he’s trying to control her the most, covering her ears and controlling her movements like a puppet
That last scene captures the feeling so well. Watching him with someone else as you realize he’s doing the same things he did with you, it creates a sense of helplessness and a feeling of being used, and you’re angry more than sad at him and yourself.
Lol am I an art critic now? 😜
this!!!!
When dodie ‘fell’ into the last chorus SO GOOD
The way she still looks happy when the movement shows such sharpness and roughness, like it’s a game, something to be enjoyed, until she stops and realises what’s happening
Maisie I like your interpretation. Something else I noticed is that sometimes (like at 1:36) she leaves him and he also pushes her away. She’s frowning as she’s pushed away, but then she smiles again and goes back to him. It’s as if she got away from him bc she realized something was wrong, but then she fell in love with the idea of him when she got far enough away to forget the bad
I love this comment holy shit
@@gweng7033 i saw a video once that analized modern relationships. and how they are so affected by hollowood movies. you know how in movies there is always a huge conflict, emotions just too strong, and that's how the couple knows for certain that they love each other. In this video they would explain that many people have been too affected by this idea and even if they suffer, get stressed, etc in relationship, they think that's the way. And if its everything too ok, if there is no jealousy, no over control, etc, means they don't really love them. So i interpreted it like that. She suffered while being with him, but once she got a little moment to stop and analyze it (1:36) she smiled, she got happy cause all that stress and chaos means he loves her, so she got back to his arms all happy. she looks like relief. like "oh, he DOES love me!"
It feels flirty, I love dodie's faces its enthralling
@@gweng7033 I love this take! I personally saw it as she doesn’t like the feeling of being pushed away/doesn’t like the relationship she’s in but is addicted to the game of the chase so she keeps going back even though she’s hurting herself by making that choice
When she’s looking at the silhouette of the other couple dancing more gracefully, I love that it’s just a silhouette bc it shows how we only see what they want us to see, and we can’t truly understand what another person/couple is going through unless you are that person/couple. Chances are that couple is having problems too, but what dodie sees is a perfect relationship and she doesn’t understand why hers doesn’t look like that too, even though it’s all just a lie.
Edit: not me having almost 500 likes on this old ass comment I-
Sara Nagel and I love how it’s not just straight white cis couples, it everyone from gay to black to whatever, it shows that everyone has these problems and that even though they look perfect and happy they might not be
im as confused as dory yes that is so true! I didn’t even think about that part, thank you for sharing!
This i saw in another comment, but a little bit after you see the other couple in the shot, except they’re fully visible, and their dance is the same as Dodie’s
this is a painfully accurate representation of abusive relationships. "this is just how we were taught to love" is part of the internal dialogue she goes through, trying to justify why their love is still worth it. the whole setting of the video, pretty much in ruins, represents her mental state. the repetitive move of falling into his arms represents the literal going back to the same person that keeps hurting you over and over again. this is so beautiful and artistic, and the song is brilliant. dodie snapped.
Diamondust finally someone says it. It’s 100% about an abusive relationship. Not about so sad short lived love. You can see it all written across how she uses her face to express how she has to pretend to be happy around him while also being sad when she turns away know she can’t really get away until she does. And when she does, he moves onto another girl and she worry’s about her. Which is why she gets so angry in the last shot
Helicoprion definitely. i think it's made very obvious in the video, hope people get it
Didn't she say it was about fuckboys?
@@lukealger4160 yeah that makes so much more sense tbh
I don't think it's about abusive relationships, but rather about falling in love with a fuckboy who doesn't feel the same about you.
how can dodie pull off literally wearing a potato sack?!
Yeah like what I want to do that
Because she's so adodieable.
Magic
Unlike Dan Howell
Lmao yes
Dodie: i cant dance
Also Dodie: *slays choreography*

@@leiasart4610 nope, she never actually took lessons or anything like that. but i remember we were all waiting for something like this since that "dancing dodie" video, cause she actually has a natural ability for these styles i think
“Guess I’ll take it. This is just how we were taught to love” - THIS HITS DODIE IM SO IMPRESSED
why are you stuck in a tree?
livia it’s a long story
all you need to know is
im never getting out
good lORD!!! ok, good luck up there
livia it took me so long to understand what trees have to do with the comment
stuck in a tree permanently wait what do you eat in a tree?
idk whether this was intentional or not but i really enjoy the little detail of dodie and the “love interest” never holding hands while they dance. he only holds her by the wrists (especially that bit at the very beginning , it set up a narrative in my head straight away)
really interesting then that he does hold hands with the girl at the end!
@@DucksRock113 I think he actually only grabs her wrists/forearms, just like with Dodie
Priscilla Espiritu
She also grabs him by the wrists though. So it signifies both of them holding onto each other.
@@bfbvouabeorbvoaervure963 agree! I just think that it still speaks to emotional distance, especially since the second verse begins with the line "hold my hand for just a second." Dodie associates hand-holding with true affection, something that he never gives her.
I had to rewatch this whole video to confirm, which I was going to do anyway, but now I have something to look for.
I don't know if it was intentional, but 0:25 looks like she's gonna pretend to do a trust fall, but when she looks back she finds that he's not there ready to catch her. And there is a brief moment of disappointment/reluctance before she allows herself to be swept away again.
I thought that was a neat little detail for the line 'you got my hopes up, and now I'm annoyed'
This comment is so underrated and clever, props to you
I just noticed that in that moment, the guy is looking at himself in the mirror while this happens, probably meaning that he only cares for himself and not dodie
Well said
The end when she sees him with the other girl hurts my heart. She is happy to be free of him but can't enjoy her new-found freedom because she knows she has been replaced. She knows he will hurt and control this new girl in the same way
[Verse 1]
Hold my head a little higher
Can't you tell I love a liar?
I know what I look like to you
I would say it's excessive
Or maybe damn impressive
I'll admit I'm confused

That I'm just a toy
'Til you got my hopes up
And now I'm annoyed
You thought you could charm me
And, damn it, you're right
So watch me fall for every damn stereotype

You can't help it
This is just how we were taught to love
Oh, there's a name for boys like you
And yet I feel lucky to hear all your lines
I hate that they shake me up every time
[Verse 2]
Hold my hand for just a second
See you soon, what do we reckon?
Maybe I'm not just a friend
But we're so close, I thought we'd kiss
Turns out you're just good at this
But how 'bout you do it again?
[Pre-Chorus]

facts
How is it that no one is talking about the line, “You thought you could charm me and damn it, you’re right.”??? Nothing is worse than when people are so manipulative and KNOW what they can do and do it anyway, intentionally. And nothing makes you feel more stupid then when you know what someone is like and what their intentions are and you end up falling anyway. And who is left hurt? You. And the other person doesn’t even have the decency to feel bad because they have already moved on to the next victim.
Dodie, you are a goddess of music. Nowadays, anyone can sing a pretty song with the proper production. But only a true artist has the lyrics to propel them. I am truly obsessed ❤️
Imagine all the laughing Dodie did while dancing to this...yes it makes me happy too :)

Something i noticed near the end where alot of groups were dancing was that 'main guy'+dodie/girl's dance was fast and out of breath, and they wouldn't be able to do that dance for a long period of time, but everyone else's dance was slow, and they would be able to do the same dance for a long time.
(idk maybe that was obvious lol)
Also Dodie your music is amazing and you are an amazing human!!! Keep doing the things you love most!

tHANK YOU
you’re a godsend
"Guess I'll take it" feels so... Idk, it feels like a "well! Someone's paying attention!" And a pressure to feel grateful that someone noticed you, if you want the attention or not. And if its that you do want attention, sometimes you'll take what you can get, or you feel this is what you deserve even if you know its shitty. (Ik this isnt really clear but yall its 4:43 am, best not to expect much sense at all)
Victoria Thompson +
funny i was looking for this thanks
notice at like 2:40 when Dodie is grasping and reaching out she's SMILING. i feel like that perfectly wraps up a toxic relationship i had. because you don't see it as toxic, and you think you want the relationship even though its toxic. beautiful.
Dodie: 'I'm kinda annoyed that dancing came with the job'
also dodie: makes this music video
my favorite detail in the choreography is probably when dodie's partner grips her by the wrists, not by the hands, as if to portray the controlling nature of her relationship (or at least the lack of care in it)
hermit crab also it’s more about lust, the imagery of your wrists held down, carnal. He doesn’t hold her hands, because that’s more a sign of genuine emotion. A guy who will work his game, you’ll sleep together, but he’s never gonna hold your hand and you’ll never be in an actual relationship like you’re hoping
I actually saw that and thought it was weird but then now it makes sense
In the very beginning it seems that he is pulling her by a thread and controlling her its 😘👌
'you can't help it this is just how we were taught to love' is suuuuuch an interesting line its like she's exploring the idea that this is how society has constructed the way we love and be intimate with one another
Ece Wilde more than society it's usually the relationship you have with your parents that shapes the way you go on choosing and loving a significant other
Sofia Broli oh yeh i didn’t even think about that, i was looking at it from the perspective of like the ‘ideal’ relationship and typical gender roles eg the guy saying sweet things to dodie which then i’m guessing from the video dodie sees is not a unique experience because everyone is doing the same, even the guy with a different girl.
Ever read 1984?
the choreography in this song is SO GOOD-is there literally anything dodie can’t do perfectly

I love all the little details she puts into this, especially right at the beginning. while he is blurred, it looks like he's blowing a kiss towards another.
Alyssa Martinez oh wow true!
i love the detail in the choreography where all of the other dances are much more fluid and are clearly spurned by both partners (if that makes sense) while her dance with the boy is led and moved almost entirely by him
I love how at the end, the other couples are dancing a much slower/fluid version of the high-energy dance the other girl and dodie's guy are doing. I feel like it shows his relationships are super intense and fast-paced whereas other couples take their time and are much more calm. A masterpiece!!!!!
I like how also at that part she looks slightly out of control and he looks like he's being very forceful while leading the dance.

Like at the beginning his touch with her is gentle and kind of guiding and she's happy, but the the end he's just grabbing her and jostling her around. Then when she turns back to see him dancing with the other girl, they're both smiling, but his touch still looks forceful with her. Like he grabs her arm close to her elbow and pulls her, rather than holding her hand.
It makes you wonder if he was always that way with the protagonist and she was just too infatuated too see it at the beginning, but is able to see it when looking in from the outside at the end.
I love how before the final chorus it goes silent, and then everything comes back with more force than before. It feels like an ocean wave. It makes you tumble over yourself like a ragdoll. You have no control.
“No use getting angry at the way that you're wired” - Guiltless = “You can’t help it, this is how we were taught to love”- Boys like you

It’s still a mystery to me how Dodie isn’t more recognised
actual talent is confusing, and harder to report on?
Shes on her way. I remember watching her in 2015 and knowing one day she'd make it. I'd say shes come a long way
espix right? But I guess it’s nice to have a smaller more tight nit community so that each of us can connect with her better/ more interactions than if she were as huge as other pop stars :)
She's on trending
She definitely is recognised but not in a traditional musician way, if that makes sense.
This is my opinion on this video: an abusive relationship looks like any other relationship to any other person. She showed interest, then stood and only then did he take interest. It tested the waters, seeing if he could control her... She seemed too stiff and turned away but then she got his attention and became his puppet. For that moment, it was just her that got his attention so he could do whatever he wanted. He used similar movement to everyone else so it appeared normal, so he appeared to be normal to her, to others, but it was a lot more aggressive and a lot more controlling. She stopped and looked in the mirror, seeing someone else that had a good relationship and began to wonder why hers didn't look that way before he pulled her back in. And she forgot because he made her feel wanted for that moment. The mentally abusive and manipulative relationships that I've been in have looked like that. They have moments of feeling great; attention that was needed but it was only when they wanted it. He pushed her away to hide what he was doing next which could have been days, weeks or even months before she turned around, thinking she was still wanted, and saw he was doing the same dance with someone else. Its soul crushing because the next person will eventually get played like that too. That's just my take because of my own experiences. Hers could be completely different and that's cool. All the takes on this video is really awesome. Each person has their own interpretation of it, that's just mine
I can’t be the only one that really wants her shirt, right?
I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to find it on Amazon. I didn't find it, and I was pissed.

This is soooo GOOD!! The song is so addictive and the amount of detail gone into the choreography is amazing! I love the story portrayed here and how toxic relationships can be. Don’t mind me, just gonna do a little analysis haha ;) note: when I say Dodie, I mean the character she plays in the mv :)
I like to think the line “this is just how we were taught to love” is highlighted throughout the whole video, where everyone is doing the dancing the same moves suggesting that the way they learned love was very artificial. The fact that Dodie began fighting against this way of loving is represented by her trying to change the dance near the end of the video. As soon as she changes her rhythm and style, she is cast away for another, conveying that the relationship was not real. Another line that I like to think is represented through the dance is “gotta remember that I’m just a toy”. The fact that the man flipped Dodie and is taking much of the initiative shows that he is playing with Dodie’s feelings.
The facial expressions are another thing altogether, showing Dodie’s confusion on the validity of their relationship and yet enjoying the struggle, as shown when she smiles whenever she is pushed away. Despite her worries, she is happy to come back and even when she is finally released of this toxic relationship, she can’t help but feel lonely.
Sorry for the long comment ‘:) hope this makes sense. Long story short, it is a FANTASTIC VIDEO AND I LOVE IT ❤️😂

Seriously. I started following her like just before she started getting really professional. I hardly remember a time when she was just quirky little Dodie who nobody knows about. But I know she really came from nothing. It must feel so incredibly victorious to be this beautifully self-made.

"always so close that we kissed. Turns out they were just good pizza" lmao the auto-generated subtitles.
to me, this song & mv represent the normalisation of toxic and exhausting relationships. leading to people feeling hurt, but watching the cycle continue with the next one.
dodie, having experienced poor relationships in the past, is cautious and self-aware. she has such low self-esteem, that the charm jordan shows is almost like a drug. when you've been belittled so much, a sweet-talking partner teaches you to be dependant on them. mainly through manipulation, you are told you are nothing without them, that no one will find you attractive as THEY do. you feed off that validation, and continuously come back, until one day they aren't there to greet you anymore.
throughout the song, dodie glances over at other dancers. on the first watch through i saw this as jealousy or envy. but after a few repeats, i instead thought of it as a comparison. with people posting their relationships on social media, it opens up for a lot of unhealthy comparisons from those watching. "their movements are perfect, why aren't mine like that?" causing self-doubt. of course, she is still enthralled with jordan, but her movements weren't as soft as the silhouetted dancers. of course, they were shadows, because the light would expose them for having problems as well.
the bridge, with the accompaniment of the green/turquoise lighting, tells me that dodie has attempted to ground herself. you can see that she is almost alone, until she meets up with jordan once more, and the cycle starts again.
"they tell me, "don't go there. we know you love a nightmare. there's more than a crush here. why aim to be crushed here?""
these words are so quiet, and soft. and are then drowned out as dodie talks to jordan, and expresses her guilt for loving the way he makes her feel even with the cliches.
and then, dodie falls, being caught and lifted up by jordan. however, jordan holds her by her head, covering her ears. "don't listen to them/they don't know you like i do/ i really do love you."
dodie and jordan go off "script," dancing more passionately than the people around them. she's swept off her feet, and now she truly DOES feel different than the other girls. so when she's spun out, she smiles harder than she has every other time. only to find that when she turns around, he's doing the same dance with another. the addition of "guess i'll take it," is even more heartbreaking here.
Good analysis but imo it's just about falling for a fuckboy. She's much more into the relationship than he is. "There's more than a crush here, don't wait to be crushed here" is the line that reveals it the most i think. She's falling for a guy who she knows is a fuckboy and doesn't want love but just sex and will move on to another girl without caring. ---> "I'm just a toy"
"You thought you could charm me and damn it you're right" -> fuckboy
" Watch me fall for every damn stereotype" -> fuckboy again
"There's a name for boys like you" -> fuckboy.
Also when she talks about the lines that "shake me up everytime". She's talking about the flirting, and that typical angel attitude of fuckboys.
@@strrb8578 well obvi it's about fuckboys, the fact that fuckboys are so prevalent also contribute to exhausting relationships !

Her movements are much softer and often brought on by him, while his is much more aggressive, strict, and hinge on controlling the people around him.
I love the detail in this!
In the scene at the end with all the couples, everyone else is very calm and loving with their partners
It's a neat example of how intense, unhealthy, and toxic their relationship is
holy shit dodes, that was amazing. you’re so good at this, your facial expressions throughout the whole video made the emotion so layered and real, I’m in absolute awe. also, the editing on this is spot on, that fall at the end, ugh. you’re a freaking pop star!

Lyrics:
Boys Like You - dodie:
[Verse 1]
Hold my head a little higher
Can't you tell I love a liar?
I know what I look like to you
I would say it's successive
Or maybe damn impressive
I'll admit I'm confused
[Pre-Chorus]
I've gotta remember
That I'm just a toy
'Til you got my hopes up
And now I'm annoyed
You thought you could charm me
And, damn it, you're right
So watch me fall for every damn stereotype
[Chorus]
You can't help it
This is just how we were taught to love
Oh, there's a name for boys like you
And yet I feel lucky to hear all your lines
I hate that they shake me up every time
[Verse 2]
Hold my hand for just a second
See you soon, what do we reckon?
Maybe I'm not just a friend
But we're so close, I thought we'd kiss
Turns out you're just good at this
But how 'bout you do it again?
[Pre-Chorus]
Oh no, I gotta remember
That I'm just a toy
'Til you got my hopes up
And now I'm annoyed
You thought you could charm me
And, damn it, you're right
So watch me fall for every damn stereotype

the moment when she turns at the and and sees other girl with him is, so heartbreaking. Really touching and beautiful video.
in the bridge, theres a part that sounds like sick of losing soulmates "what the hell would i be?" at around 2:20 and i don't know if that was intentional or not but its really pretty either way 💛
also this looks similar to the human setting

Something I noticed when rewatching this is at 1:57 the way that he pulls her hands away from his face when she touches him. I might be looking too much into it but it feels a lot like her trying to be intimate with him and him just wanting the control and to be the one touching her rather than the other way around. Just a neat little detail in the choreography
for me i interpret this song as the short lived happiness when you know a relationship/fling wont last because its meaningless to the other person but it feels like the pain will be lesser than the happiness you get from it in the moment. when you reason with yourself you know that it's a bad idea (oh no, I gotta remember
that I'm just a toy,') and that you're just a spur of the moment fling but you can't help up making up excuses and reasons to do it ('[he] can't help it, this is just how we were taught to love.') the whole idea that she's just a 'toy' adds to the image of his self importance as far as feelings are concerned. she's just a passing thought and someone to emotionally play with and when he's done with her she'll be discarded.
then in the bridge we hear the internal monologue of reason appear again stronger, 'why aim to be crushed here?'. the play on words surrounding crush is so clever as it references the dual meaning and the two polar opposite aspects of liking someone- fanciful and crushing. in the video she is seen walking against the crowd which might symbolise ignoring advice given to her and what she feels is right to do what she wants to do. the green lighting makes me think of guilt that she's feeling going against what she knows will be best for her in the long run and being reckless. at the end of the bridge we see dodie quite literally fall into her old ways of being swept off her feet by someone she knows doesn't have the capability to love her.
i dont know whether ive just completely projected my shit times onto the song so feel free to give me any other interpretations because i find it really interesting the different interpretations people get from the same pieces of music
ellen God I love analysis
I was thinking this was kind of about the cliché-ness of love or something? The way that everyone was dancing the exact same way and the same time and then at the end when he finds a new girl to dance with shows how some people do the same lines and gestures in relationships all to get a person to swoon over them when in reality it's not that special.
When the lyrics "And yet I feel lucky to hear all your lines,I hate that they shake me up every time" I feel like it reminds me of people who always have a certain "line" or trick to get with people as if they're copying some actor's or book's character and that they would say it to another person?
I really liked your interpretation of the monologue, insíghtful
Can I just say thank you for sharing that..
i definitely agree, except during the bridge, i thought it more signified grounding yourself. trying to listen to the people who tell you that you're in a dangerous relationship. the greenish lighting is more refreshing, tranquil and calm, rather than guilty or envious. the people around her have stopped moving, and it's very quiet.
she meets with jordan, and then moves away, showing she thinks "they" are right. until she falls, and jordan goes all out to make her feel special, only to do the same dance with another girl.
To quote my show: "and it's a song about f*ckboys"

I love how at 1:36, when he shoves her away and she runs back to him, is mirrored at the end except instead of waiting for her he's already with another girl
I like how where the choreography first starts it's just like how everyone else in the background is doing but it slowly becomes more aggressive and controlled without anyone noticing
I love that it sounds softly sorrowful, but also has a dark feeling mixed in

I was just about to comment this lol
The choreograph is honestly well thought out. One of my favorite parts is at 2:34 we can see dodie and her partner dancing rather quickly compared to the couples that are dancing in the background. For me at least it resembles how quickly we can get into a relationship and enjoy every second of it until one of the partner decided they’ve gotten bored and just decides on their own to move on, and to do the same dance with a different partner.
I love that part at 2:41, when it looks like she is trying to scape, scream for help, but he doensn't let her go. Sure I don't love that fact, but, yes, the way it is represented in the dance.
2:33 that scene change made my heart skip
I’m absolutely loving the direction dodie’s music has been going in recently! her songs have always been incredible but you can really tell how much she’s coming into her sound‼️🥰
i love how this song starts in a more upbeat almost "endearing" way, then the drums kick in and it gets more and more looming lol love u dodie
