Hey great video!! You seem knowledgeable of these small engines. I'm having trouble getting spark on a 125 semi auto. Just wondering if you know what values a stator should read.
You'd have to check a service manual for resistance values. I usually do cranking tests with the harness disconnected as shown in this link. The vid is a 139QMB, but I'm doing it the same for the pit bikes. ua-cam.com/video/q9-mr7BXIho/v-deo.html
I have a 2010 Gio beast. 200cc. When replacing the stator (thanks for the help) I noticed there was oil in this area. Is this normal for these types of engines?
Is it possible to run a wire from the stator to a rectifier then to a small light bar to add a headlight to a syx moto 50cc pull start dirt bike? If not would happen to know what aftermarket stator i would need to make that set up work? Thanks
I don't know that bike, but just googling a pic looks like it's a small two-stroke. Some of those just have a magneto to make spark and nothing for charging. They're often more of the offroad market, where lights and accessories are not required and there is no provision for them. It may be easier to get a good battery to power a light and just recharge it after use. A friend of mine uses SLA batteries like power supplies use and has no charging on a street scooter. He can ride for hours before swapping out a battery when running low watt LEDs and a water pump.
Best video I've seen. But I (and others) could not get those 2 m6 bolts out of the pick up mounting. Tried impact drill, hand impact tool, chisel and soaking for days, not moving. Wish videos would cover worst case scenarios instead of when things are easy-peasy. Screw extractor won't work if they are so tight, drilling them out with left hand drill bit? Will the holes be destroyed cause it is aluminum? Bloody hell what a pain.
what if the bolt to remove the magneto is beyond stripped and you can't get to the stator? the bolt on mine is shredded and I can not get the magnet off dont know what to do. even if I get it off the threads on the stem will never allow me to put a new bolt on. am I screwed?
So you have the flywheel that covers the stator. Are you saying the threads where a puller goes are stripped so you can't pull the flywheel or the nut is stripped and you can't get a socket to hold to take it off and the threads on the crank are bad too?
@@49ccscoot I got the black plastic cover off fine then the 4 screws to take the white plastic fan off fine. the next step is that bolt you need to take off with impact wrench is stripped so bad the impact couldn't even get it off. I tried lubricant, I tried to chisel it off, I bought a bolt removal kit that couldn't do it either. and in all this I think its so shredded that its not even a bolt/nut anymore and the threaded crank stem threads arent looking to good now that even if I managed to get that bolt off in pieces I dont think another bolt/nut will be able to go on it now. so I cant even get that magneto off to get to the stator to change that out. was that a better description? I have another engine from another scooter I was just gonna use but this one that I screwed up was the newer one of the two which is what sucks. thoughts? or ideas? if you understood what I wrote.
@@s.f.morris7331 I gotcha. That's a tough one. Try heat, if you haven't already. Sounds like you'd probably need to try heat and another method to grab the bolt now. Look up heating a nut to remove or something like that on UA-cam. If the threads are damaged, you may be able to rethread to a smaller size and use a new matching nut. I have ground the diameter enough to work with a different thread size/pitch before on scoot cranks. Don't worry about metric or standard in that case, just find whatever is a good fit. Don't take it down too small either, because you want it to be able to handle the force on the flywheel nut. If all else fails, you can probably get a small 1/8" or so carbide burr in there to cut through the nut. Prob won't be a fast process, but could possibly be done carefully and not damage the flywheel or crank.
I'm having serious trouble finind out what engine I have. None seem to match. Is there a way to identify it? It's a Chinese one on a buggy. Seems pretty old. Flywheel doesn't have a pickup raised bit on it.
Hey didnt you have a link to this wiring kit ? I've watched alot of videos but mine the stator didn't come with any connections just the wires on the end? What do I do
I usually use sites like Corsa-Technic if I need connectors. They carry a lot of stuff. You may just have to browse to find a match. You could swap out the connector(s) on the bike and use whatever style of connector you like.
It may or may not. If the pickup is not attached to the stator in an assembly, then how you move the stator relative to the pickup may have some effect. I've never had trouble with it just doing replacements or moving pickups to change timing a little, but a friend doing something custom found that when they move too much in relation to each other it can cause some sort of phase issues. Try to replicate however the original was and otherwise you'll need to look at other components. You can check for power coming from the exciter coil and pickup coil to make sure each is at least putting out power/signal.
@@49ccscoot oh okay so I definitely need to replace it. I did some more research and just thought it was for the electric start only. Thanks for the help

If it's a four-stroke like the one's shown in this vid, that shouldn't be from a change in mixture. In a two-stroke, the air/fuel mixture goes through the crankcase so a bad seal can do that. In a four-stroke, you're just sealing in oil and crankcase pressure so spraying something on it should not affect it that way. If anything that could possibly suck in some of that spray is close enough, maybe that's why?
