- Join me as I fly from Sydney to Bangkok on Thai Airways' Boeing 777-300ER.
Today we're taking TG476, a day flight from Sydney to Bangkok. This route is popular amongst tourists heading to Asia and beyond. It was long operated by a 747, which has unfortunately seen its day and Sydney now gets the 77W for this flight. So let's go gate to gate together, passing through check in, terminal and of course the on board experience on this trip across to Thailand. Let me know your thoughts in the comments and subscribe if you enjoyed the content!

Thank you for the review! Knowing that they had those twin seats was awesome! First time flying on TG’s 777 should be interesting lol
Cheers, thank you for watching! The twin seats are great if you've managed to grab them. Enjoy your flight and if you don't have status, be sure to do internet check in for a shorter line at the airport 👍
I just had a great flight from London to Melbourne. Thoroughly recommend thai
Great review, ive only ever flown Thai once between Phuket and Bangkok, the 777 interior def looks on the older side
Cheers! Yep definitely on the older side, even the Business seat is an older design.
@@LeisureFlyer I think even pre covid Thai had really lost their way with old planes and i suspect struggling with cashflow, it will be interesting to see how the next few years go for them
Haha, I commented on this video 3 months ago, I just realized I flew the same plane that you did! HS-TKZ!
Small world! How as your flight?
@@LeisureFlyer It was pretty nice! The IFE was quite old but every thing else was great! Comfy seat and good service.
I flew on HS-TKZ in 2022 on TG476 from Sydney to Bangkok. Also it was the last delivered Boeing 777-300er for Thai Airways. The plane is a 2015 777-300er.
@@volgrenfanbus1294 The 777 is quite new comparing to other Thai 777 (except their final 3 777s) since the seats were new and it wad a very nice cabin, IFE still the same one tho.
@@Arnystic the 3 777-300er was an ex Jet Airways aircraft which has the rego HS-TTA ,TTB and TTC.
Hey there! I am flying the 777-300ER tonight to Stockholm Arlanda, were there any universal charging ports or tail cameras on the 777? I have flew the A350 and it had those so I wanted to see if there were any 😊
Hm, there's definitely USB but I do not recall any universal ports at my seat, but.. this may have been because of my two seat config in the last row. Looking back at my photos, there were definitely power points in the seats of 3. I don't remember any tail cam either. Enjoy your flight!
@@LeisureFlyer I just landed a few hours ago, there were indeed cameras but they werent working so it was just all black. There were 2 Universal power outlets at the bottom of the seat too!
Did they allow you go over 2kg extra? How heavy was your checked bag. I am sure there were lots of bags at the baggage claim from this flight since it was a 777
My bag was under the limit. I'm not sure how strict Thai are with the weight limits. If you get a nice person at check in, they might just let it through without charging any extra or making you unpack items. I connected on to another flight so I didn't see how many people / bags until my final destination. Thanks for watching!
There's no shame in not often flying long-haul Y. After all, you need to keep airline status topped up to make it more palatable when you *are* flying Y.
Interesting review - those twin seats look like the best option.
For sure! I definitely value my Star Alliance gold status and it has paid off numerous times over the years. If I did this trip (including the return flights and transit time without a lounge in BKK) I'd be a lot less rosy about the experience. Thank you for watching! :)

Yo! Thansk for the video. Is alcohol (beer) complintary in economy?
Yep! I don't recall what was on offer but yes, there are complimentary alcoholic drinks available. Thanks for watching :)
the drunk yobbos will be delighted! @@LeisureFlyer
This might be a stupid question but was the flight extremely loud? I tend do have issues with that, especially on such a long flight.
The 777 is louder than other aircraft like the 787 or A350 that Thai have. A set of noise cancelling headphones makes a massive difference tbh, well worth the investment if you can. Otherwise, even foam ear plugs help while sleeping.
@@LeisureFlyerthe 747-400 before the 777-300er was still loud as well too.
The saddest flight back home
Hi i had a question have u ever had 11 he travling with thai airways and if u had can u tell me how it feels thank you
Have I ever had what sorry?
@@LeisureFlyer im sorry i mean have u ever had 11 hours travelling with thai airways
@@farhadgasimi4509 No sorry, but Sydney to BKK is about 9-10hrs, so not far off. On such a long flight in economy, I think it matters what time of day you fly. This flight was all day time, so not too bad. But if you fly overnight it might be a lot harder to try and get any quality rest.
@@LeisureFlyer ah oki thank you a lot
Was your flight on April 8th?
Close, 9th. Were you around? Or just checking FR24?
@@LeisureFlyer I have footage of that flight taking off from runway 25 but the day before. I though it would’ve been great if you had the footage of your flight ✈️ and add it to your video.
@@flyrules damn so close! That would have been epic though. Were you watching from Shep's?
@@LeisureFlyer yes!
I went on Thai AirAsia X same route
How was it? I imagine it would be very different as a LCC vs "full service" on Thai.
It was the best I also been lot’s of places in Thailand like Phuket, Chiang mai, Udon Thani and Bangkok On Thai AirAsia
🇦🇪🇹🇭
Stuff economy flights over 4 hours,
Depends if it's a day or overnight flight I reckon. 5/6hrs probably my limit usually.
