Being a libero is very nerve racking at first but once you get good at the position, it is very rewarding. Everyone in my team are 6ft+ while I’m 5’7. I’m probably the shortest in the team. Just remember you can be any height as a libero.
Thank you! I’m a libero but the coach hasn’t taught us the rules for switching in and out so this is very helpful. P.S. I’m watching this on my way to a tournament
the last word ... enhance me a lot🥺🥺🥺🥺 i've playing as an libero for an long time but no matter, my team win or loose no one has remind me how useful im am but today u touch my hard 🥺
Thank you! starting volleyball again after a long quartine. Barely practiced, worked out, I’m not too in shape!! But last season I played back row, practiced as libero. 😭 hopefully I’ll get all my skills back!
Hey there, I should clarify that this video is based on the FIVB rules (International VB Federation), the section is "19.3.1.3 He/she may not serve, block or attempt to block." You can find the actual rules in this - link www.fivb.org/EN/Refereeing-Rules/RulesOfTheGame_VB.asp I hope this helps. Cheers and good luck!
you could use team practice to keep your attack skills sharp, try before of after regular practice if you are not allowed during team practice. good luck!
I get that we have to rotate but im confused on where we go and when we go and stuff like that and im so confused because its like one moment im switching with someone, the next im next to someone and then someones behind me??? (Im in 8th grade)
Hang in there, it is confusing at the beginning but if you keep playing you will get it soon. Also check some of the other videos in this channel on rotations, they might help. Good luck!!
This helped me a lot!! I wanna start playing and I’ve always liked the libero position!!! Now I know all the rules, although, for those who have seen Haikyuu, the libero, Nishinoya, serves to the ace, Asahi, and they make a valid point. Is that because he serves from the back?
There's a few times they do that. It depends, he cant cross the 3 meter/ 10ft line to serve/set to Asahi. If he does it has to be an underarm set,. If it wasn't an underarm set then he probably did where he's jumping over the line to set mid air, which they start doing in the later seasons.
Yes, normally a libero will move to zone 5, but it is a matter of strategy, meaning a coach could make changes depending on his attack/defense strategy using the player's abilities. By the book, it makes sense to have the libero defending in that zone and have the back row left hitter move to zone 6 where he/she can have different attack options
I'm watching this because i'm confused that i haven't seen nishinoya serve. I get it now too, why he always switch places with hinata. I feel like i'm so smart, lmao! I'm surprised there are haikyuu viewers here too.
You clarified a lot of my doubts with your clean and clear instructions. Haikyu fans what do think would be the ideal rotation for your Haikyu dream team? Mine is 1. Oikawa, 2. Kageyama 3. Hinata 4. Ushijima 5. Kuroo 6. Tendo with Nishinoya coming in as libero.
So, are they allowed to save the ball with an open palm? My mom (who was in volleyball years upon years ago, and doesn't even know what a libero is) was telling me that you can only save the ball with a closed fist
You can but it must be a clean contact similar to a hit, otherwise your effort will result in a "lift" which is illegal. That is why most players will use a fist instead of open hand. Also a referee might just call it a lift as with an open hand chances are that will be the result.
For international rules the libero cannot serve, in that case a substitution for the middle is recommended (maybe a player who is a good server can come in for the middle)
I've seen liberos attack from the back row. Is that just okay in general, or are there special rules for that too? (I've only ever seen it done with over- and underhand, never with a spike motion, so is that illegal?)
Yes, Liberos cannot attack. An attack is when a player hits a ball over the line of the net height towards the opponent's side. So a libero can hit a ball as long and when he/she touches the ball it is not over the height of the net. But the reffere will have the final say as sometimes it is hard to tell, Liberos would then prefer to bump to ball to the other side if it is the last resource.
Again, these are international rules. A local league may allow something different (although they shouldn't). I've heard that some leagues in the U.S. allow Liberos to serve.
@@RicoCoachV Ah, that clears it up, thanks! I'm still pretty new to volleyball, so I don't know all the terminology yet. So it only counts as an attack if it's above the net, gotcha. That makes sense, then.
Is Libero a must in each rally, according to the FIVB? I haven't read the complete 90 page rules. We are playing friendlies with other companies in my country, and we would like to enforce the FIVB rules as we are getting more and more companies that want to take part in our "tournaments"; therefore, becoming more "official" here in my country.
No. The libero is optional, you can play without a libero. The libero can come in and out as long as a rally has been completed. Coaches use liberos because they are really good defenders and diggers, they normally replace the middle players who generally are tall and have better attacking skills than defending skills. Sounds like you have something fun going with the company. Cheers!
Smh. They are THE defense kings/queens. If there aren’t anyone who has fast reflexes and can’t bump the ball, how will the game keep going?! How will the setter get in contact with the ball?
I'm not sure where he got these rules from but They not all correct. A libero can definitely set the ball in the back row, on standing (no jumping) in the front row. Also a libero can definitely serve. you just have to make sure they only serve for one person in a complete rotation! if the libero serves for your second middle that's he ONLY person she can serve for that game.
Now I understand why nishinoya always switching with hinata

Back row is ok!!
Nishinoya san
A lot of liberos do that nowadays. I think Sergio of Brazil started that trend though.

i think liberos are allowed to serve as long as they're not inside the front area
Liberos can serve in one specific spot.
Liberos cannot serve when their playing in a foreign country,or official matches
I think serving is an attempt at an attack so it isnt allowed is my thought process
Thank you, I want to play libero and I cant seem to find a video hat explains the libero rotations well, this video did it for me. Amazing!
I started volleyball january of 2020 so it’s been one year. I’m playing Libero this season and EXCITEDDDS

Sakura Albert you stand outside of the court waiting until the other middle serves and the rally ends

But in Victoria Garrick's UA-cam channel she mentioned that Libero's can server
Do libero's usually always cover 5? I see a lot of them go to 1 but am told to always go to 5 after the serve.

I've seen liberos serve??
where ?
Usc vs ucla match i've seen their libero serving and that confused me because I'm a libero and I'm not allowed to serve
Liberos are only allowed to serve on special occasions.
wutt
libero only serve if they need to replace a teamate
Libero player here😅

I'm pretty sure Liberos are aloud to serve but they don't just for the safe of the team depends on rotation
