This is probably the best looking game I've ever seen. Also one of the best I've ever played and I loved part one and the DLC so much. I had a lot of issues with the platforming at first but I got used to it and I like to climbing a lot.
I literally hate the climbing haha, I've lost count of the amount of times Aloy has either fallen, jumped the wrong way or just completely missed where I clearly want her to go. For such a modern game, the movement is clunky af
@@davemerritt5949It's the only complaint I have about the game. The number of times Aloy wouldn't climb up a rock face, despite the Focus highlighting that she can, was beyond frustrating. The other really annoying thing about climbing is that Aloy doesn't always jump up/across a gap. Again, moving fractionally away & then back to the same spot again, Aloy will jump up/across, no problem.
Another good setting was to show the collectable materials on screen always instead of having to scan every 5 seconds to find some materials on the ground
I agree this is a great game and a good follow-up to Zero Dawn. I love the customization and the different skill sets which can define different ways of playing. I don’t mind the animations at all - they are part of the amazing world. And while it’s cool to ride a machine, I would rather walk or run now and then, to see the world that has been prepared. Games like this - Oblivion, Skyrim, even the Fallout series - are full of wonder and ways to explore. I rejoice in that in all its various details.
one thing i literally just found out was that you can transmog outfits! i had no idea and love being able to wear lower level armor that i like the look of with high level stats
Except for those stupid fireclaws…. Good grief I’m so sick of only fighting Apex models of those…. They have an absurd amount of health and trying not to damage their giant sac can be tricky in such a long fight.
@@antylucka Oh that’s not necessary. Ever since gyro aim became a thing, I purposely crank up the difficulty so I feel like I earn every step of progress. Reading my comment after a few months, what I recall is the Apex versions spawn ridiculously more than the regular ones. And the regular ones are really a cinch to pop. I just don’t know why the Apex ones had such a higher spawn rate… they definitely didn’t just spawn at night for me. Maybe it was the difficulty.
Late to the party but will add some anyway: Have jobs for all weapon/pouch upgrades. Means you can occasionally find yourself near one on the map and highlights when merchants are selling stuff you need for an upgrade. Don't complete quests sequentially. Some jump you around between the main venues, just pick up the bits you need to do for a handful of quests when you end up at those sites.
I don't craft them, I buy them. But like you, sometimes I'm too far from a camp, especially when exploring a new area. Sometimes, machines are too close to the camp to save. I've even gotten stuck inside walls twice and the only way out was by a travel pack.
Some tips Stuff that I’d thought I’d bring up is that I think the Nora thunder warrior is a lot more effective. I just prefer range fighting over melee, especially for machines. You can also customize the difficulty. Which you can change the damage taken from easy to very hard. And change enemy health the same way. I usually play normal damage and very hard health just cause I like when fights are longer. Jumping while aiming also very slightly will slow down time, it’s not as helpful as it was in the first game but hey it’s still there.
I discovered you can also make it so loot shows up automatically and you don't have to constantly scan. like how it is in zero dawn. I think it's in the HUD settings iirc
You can also invert R3 so that long press is area scan and quick press is the zoomed in one. Makes scanning machines mid fight much easier and quicker.

1 big tip for any new players in 2023. Play story till you get a choice between 3 mission for finding poseidon and demether. Play these 2 to get the equipment for diving and the metal plants and after this you can explore away. These are high lvl mission but not that hard tbh. You don't even need to finish the poseidon mission for the diving mask.
The most important setting to turn on for me personally was the gyro aiming. It might take a bit to get used to but it's a game changer when trying to shot individual components. Also, since they patched it in: turning of the pick up animation is great.
It’s the only reason right now I’m playing this on the PS5. This is the most fun I’ve ever had in a game. Hard mode, gyro aiming, turn aim assist off. I can shoot birds out of the air and hit crazy long range shots, like picking off the restraining bolts from behemoths holding their giant drum. All done without any aim assist. Unfortunately, looks like this may be the last AAA game for awhile that has it on the PS5. I’ll probably get a Nexus Xim and play fps games on the Xbox from then on. Ironic the system with the best gyro will also be the only system you can’t use the gyro for most games. Just pathetic, Sony.
@@Creshex8 why do you think this will be the last one for a while? And isn't it more an issue of developers not implementing a feature? Sony screws up a lot but besides their own titles it's not on them to implement gyro aiming. 😅
@@VladTaltos01 Sony wouldn’t even support their own Move. It was supported for Infamous 2 and Killzone 2. But in the next killzone and Infamous… gone! Sony has had gyro since the PlayStation 3. And they keep putting gyros in their controllers. You think they really have no part in the lack of gyro support? It was their idea to make it part of their controllers, do you really think it wasn’t their job to encourage developers to use it or try it? Nintendo has a constantly growing gyro library. I had so much fun playing Overwatch on Switch, I’d love to play it on a more powerful system… but nothing… a gyro game where the implementation work HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE on a certain game can’t have it implemented on a different and more powerful system. Incredible and pathetic. I follow gyro news very frequently, and Forbidden West is still one of the only big AAA games with gyro. They implemented it in a grotesque manner on RE 8, where one stick is disabled, and makes the game nearly unplayable. THAT has still not even been fixed. I hope I’m wrong, I really thought Forbidden West was going to open up the floodgates for many more gyro games, but at this point, I can only hope I’m wrong about my gut feeling that it may be the last title for a long while.
Some good tips. I'm finishing Zero Dawn. I feel like it's always night. You can't see anything. It gets annoying. Glad to see they give you options in the sequel.
There's also a quick pickup option in the settings, so you don't have to wait while picking up berries and other resources. Instead it is done instantly, which makes it soo much better
Here’s a little trick I learned when level 50 you have 700 health so consume a large health potion that will over heal you to 1138 health (I think) then consume a local stew that will increase your health even more then put the shield valor surge on then you’ll have just over 1600 health
Is there a way to stop the second promp for you to hit Triangle again to "Take All," after using Triangle the first time? I like to punch who ever the fuck came up with this system, just let me take all the first time.
Oh... to get the parts you want to drop off monsters there is an easier way. If you know what monster drops it, once you spot one turn the game difficulty down to Story Mode and when you kill it (very, very easily I must say) and then loot it you get every single thing it drops which you would normaly have to shoot off. Then turn the difficulty back up if you so please.
@@Lexterrific Well you don't do it constanstly but just if you don't have any luck getting the item you need for that upgrade you really want to get. :p
You didn’t have to craft a bunch of fast travel packs in HZD either. Early on merchants sell an unlimited fast travel pack for like 50 shards. I’ve made more fast travel packs in this game than I EVER did in HZD. I probably made like 10 in HZD
I’ve been playing this game since it’s been released and I agree with so much stuff, even working through villages with my weapon, I don’t like. But learnt so much, thanks 🙏

If on PS5, the gyroaiming option really allows for quicker and more precise aiming! Took me a little bit of practice to get used to it, and you can adjust the sensitivity, wether its pitch or yaw or both etc etc - but it really helps alot!
Whenever it's allowed, calling your aggressive-set acid clawstrider to distract, kill and tank enemies during battles helps throughout the game once you get its override! It becomes a nice helper so repair it often, it's really potent robotery!
I got the 1st new console I could find when the current gen came out and that was an XSX but always intended to get PS5 but I’ve only just finally bought one. I can see why everyone loves this game. Very beautiful and well made. But even though it’s generally subjective I sort of can’t believe the voice of Eloy. Eloi? Our protagonist. She is 50% breath! “HHHHHH I’ll have to find another way up HHHHHHHH” “HHHHHHHHH it’s going to be difficult HHHH but I don’t have a choice HHHHHHHH” It’s kind of terrible and I can’t believe not many people had any problem with it! Spectacularly not good IMO. But anyway it hasn’t stopped me from playing so I needed this video and appreciate your clarity and precision in your presentation. Nice work👍
I create jobs (without activating) for all the weapons & pouches I want to upgrade. That way when you are at various vendors, the items you need are automatically marked in their inventory. You don't have to try and remember, did I need a rollerback hammer tail or fireclaw sac webbing?

You can. I’ll triple notch, then switch to my sharpshooter bow for some massive stealth damage, and be able to swap back to the triple notched shot as I’m getting rushed
Fun fact when doing the arena challenges just trun your games difficulty to story mode and you'll fly through all the challenges within 20 mins. Still get the same amount of rewards and medals. Plus if u really want to get the trophy for completing them on harder difficulty you can always replay them. Easier and faster way to get the best gear in game without having to needlessly grind.
Quick swap just changed my game! I was trying to swap from my trip caster caster to regular bow, which was previously equipped but keeped equipping the bomb thrower. Super frustrating in a animal machine life or death situation.
As a long time DOOM Eternal player, that quick swap feature saved my life countless times. It should’ve been on by default and tutorialized. I’m baffled that it’s off by default.
I was already ignoring them. After I finished the main story I finally visited the arena. Turns out the weapons you can get with medals really aren't really any better than what I already have.
Good tips! I wish I could’ve predicted the pacing better. I finished the main storyline way to fast. I had so much left to do that I thought the Singlarity quest was a halfway point and it was extremely disappointing when I realized the game was over. I still had a Couldrine to unlock, hadn’t even opened the Arena, didn’t do any hunting lodges, and only a couple malee pit challenges. I haven’t even unlocked all the Tallnecks. Idk, I loved the game but wish they would have made more side quests/milestones part of the main story path so you can’t finish with half the game unplayed. I’ll probably do more quests but it’s not the same once you finish.
in fairness, they give you a recommended level indicator for each mission, story or side. I can't speak for FW as i'm yet to finish it, but for ZD that definitely ensured I finished every side quest before the main storyline, as I could see when I was progressing the story too quickly relative to the recommended levels of my side quests
I just got into this game on ps plus never played the first one and honestly i downloaded the game a couple months back and played about 25 min or so and deleted the game it didn't really suck me in and i noticed it on there again the other day and i figured screw it I'll play for a couple hours and if i still don't like it I'll give up on it and about 50 min to an hour in i was hooked it really starts slow but if you get through that the game so far is a gem I'm only about 3 hours in or so but the taking off the pick up animations was a game changer for me. I did turn on the climbable highlight but i don't think that one is a must but the animations one for pick ups is huge and i 100% recomend this game to anyone who hasn't yet played it, it's free on ps plus not sure if i would've bought it at the store or not but for free this is a must play if you own a ps5
In response to the comment by dusbus2384, there is also an auto pickup option since the burning shores came out. If you don’t have the burning shores, I believe it will still work. It doesn’t add items to your stash though, just if you have room in the inventory

Very nice video. This game is amazing. I am surprised to see many negative comments. I think this game is better than HZD in every aspect except the story which is good but not as good as the original. However, I still think this is an awesome game and a must play.
Gyro aiming makes it 5 times better. I’ve never ever had so much fun with a game, and 70% of that reason is due to having a gyro. No aim assist, total immersion and complete satisfaction from knowing every shot hit was done entirely from my own skills.

I have to wonder if they patched in this update after this video was made but- you can 100% reset all of your skill points for all categories at no cost to you. It's just tedious to have to reassign them all every time you do it.
Also during the arena section just turn the difficulty to story(very easy) and quickly go through it to get the best weapons. It wouldn’t be terrible but they charge you for each attempt and I think that’s bullshit
I wish I knew how easy the final boss was if you chase the ultimate weapons. One of the best games ever, but the ending was lackluster with the best weapons.
Hunt animals for blue and purple parts. Blue parts sell for 50 and purple for 150. If you want hunting locations: most beaches have almost endless and fast spawning of pelicans, lobsters, crabs, and gulls. Desert regions have tons of vultures. The other really annoying thing about climbing is that Aloy doesn't always jump up/across a gap. Again, moving fractionally away & then back to the same spot again, Aloy will jump up/across, no problem.
1 year later but I'm playing it right now and geez... amazing scenario

This is one of those games you can take it all in like Ghosts of Tsushima.
one thing i literally just found out was that you can transmog outfits! i had no idea and love being able to wear lower level armor that i like the look of with high level stats
I like to change the setting that allows longer focus( slows time when pressing L3) to help get a more accurate shots.
If God Of War comes out this year, Forbidden West is going to be a HARD game to beat for GOTY.
💯
Elden ring is going to right up there too

Something they don’t tell you is apex machines spawn at night so time skips are helpful for farming spec parts as well
Except for those stupid fireclaws…. Good grief I’m so sick of only fighting Apex models of those…. They have an absurd amount of health and trying not to damage their giant sac can be tricky in such a long fight.
@@Creshex8 I know this is 4 months old, but I recommend turning on the Story difficulty when you're farming those guys for parts
You can knock multiple arrows into multiple bows before a battle, to have a big amount of burst at the beginning of a fight.
This is especially useful for quickly getting an elemental effect onto an enemy.
Late to the party but will add some anyway:
Have jobs for all weapon/pouch upgrades. Means you can occasionally find yourself near one on the map and highlights when merchants are selling stuff you need for an upgrade.
Don't complete quests sequentially. Some jump you around between the main venues, just pick up the bits you need to do for a handful of quests when you end up at those sites.
Thanks for much for the tips bro! I just started the game.

L1 and R2 combo for charging your weapon is crazy good! Thanks a lot
Hands down the best tips and tricks video for this game I have come across. Others were fine.. but I actually got something from yours.
I still craft fast travel packs because after certain story moments, you CAN be stuck far from a camp fire
Good tips thanxs man!
The Perk Points are a good tip. I wasn't sure if there was a cap or not. Thanks!
@@jaybreezy1616 I switched my settings so both of these are active, and now it feels like I am really am playing a continuation of the first game, with better things going on. Thank you both for the information
I only watched the first 3 minutes and this video is already far more useful then any other "helpful tips and tricks" video I have seen for this game!!
For climbing annotations I felt the opposite was true, by the time I was a few hours in I could pretty much tell what was climable just by looking at it. Climable surfaces still look slightly different to non climable this time around.
I noticed there is a light film of yellow lichen on most if not all rock surfaces where you can climb.
Yep, it’s something you have to focus onto to be able to tell. Amazing game man GOTY contender AGAIN
This and Elden ring are the best for this year without a doubt
What I love about both Horizon games is you can climb on pretty much anything by just jumping on Ledges.
@@nashscheber2362 was a deadly combo after having played the last game all maxed out with the shield weaver armor and then starting this not being able to take the risky falls💀
Just started Forbidden West, and this is a great starter video. Thank you!
Dude you ROCK! Thanks for these awesome spoiler free tips. Seriously!
If you want to get the platina trophy there is 1 big problem. You need to scan like 43 monsters in the game and there is 1 you can miss....the specter. You don't need a scan for the end boss but if you (like me) played every mission and the end boss but you need a specter your screwed in your first playtrough.I started a new game + and played the main story for 2 hrs untill you encounter the first specters in the game. This was my way to go fir my platina throphy ;-) and something i wish u new from the start. You can scan every monster in your end game but make sure you scan the Specters before you defeat the end boss.
What does Gyro aiming do
Damn, I REALLY wish I knew that energizing trick earlier on. So much free damage I’ve missed…
Just started my second playthrough and I didn't know half of this, thank you!
Nice tips. I was wondering what the best bow was and the option to take off your headgear was a gem 👌🏻
here's a good one for some
Accessibility > Auto Sprint on Foot / Mount
No more clicking the L3 button to sprint.
Some good tips. I'm finishing Zero Dawn. I feel like it's always night. You can't see anything. It gets annoying. Glad to see they give you options in the sequel.
Better to play at night because Apex machines always spawn at night and it's also easier to scan for rebels at their bases.
Thank you! This helped a lot!!! ❤
There's also a quick pickup option in the settings, so you don't have to wait while picking up berries and other resources. Instead it is done instantly, which makes it soo much better
Oy, learning this tip only _after_ recently finishing the game... 😔
You can put the game on custom, put it on hard and select auto loot, then no matter what you always get loot.
Quick tip: gathering is everything. I am lvl 35 and I just realised that my biggest problem is lack of arrows.
The way you say "metals" is the cutest thing ever 🖤🤭

That's not fun at all what the fuck lol

@@Lexterrific Well you don't do it constanstly but just if you don't have any luck getting the item you need for that upgrade you really want to get. :p

You didn’t have to craft a bunch of fast travel packs in HZD either. Early on merchants sell an unlimited fast travel pack for like 50 shards. I’ve made more fast travel packs in this game than I EVER did in HZD. I probably made like 10 in HZD
Same. That golden fast travel pack was the first thing I really did in HZD.
I was really hoping for an unlimited fast travel item in the sequel too...
I’ve been playing this game since it’s been released and I agree with so much stuff, even working through villages with my weapon, I don’t like. But learnt so much, thanks 🙏
At 6:50 when you talk about item drops, if you change your difficulty to custom and turn on easy-loot you can get the parts while keeping other difficulty settings higher
Started playing this game a week ago and It wanted to be able to put my weapons away and I could not find a way to do it. I guess it's a pet peeve mine too.
Great vid. Thanks.
Started this game about a week ago , I'm not too far into the story , and it's my first time playing this type of games where you craft things collect items and such , and I feel like such a noob having hard time understanding it lol
If you press circle as you are zipping up to a grapple point, you will launch into the air as soon as you reach it, a la Arkham Knight
You can also just hit the dodge roll button after holding R2 to keep charging your spear quickly, no need to change your settings

If on PS5, the gyroaiming option really allows for quicker and more precise aiming! Took me a little bit of practice to get used to it, and you can adjust the sensitivity, wether its pitch or yaw or both etc etc - but it really helps alot!

@@jespermelin1266 ah nice - I wasn’t sure! :)
Turn off aim assist too. The all your kills will be completely due to your own skill.
I wish the clawstrider ran faster, when mounted.

Another setting for people who want to play on max difficulty and just kill the machines and not have the parts break. Turn on "Easy Loot."
Could you tell us where to find this setting?
@@justinc.242 You can change difficulty to custom in settings then you can adjust damaga taken and given to very hard so it is as challenging as very hard and there is also easy loot option
@Justin C. You have to change the difficulty to custom, and it'll be there
At least you'll be prepared for Burning Shores. I'm hoping the level cap goes to 60 like in Frozen Wilds, honestly there wasn't much I needed to know before hand. I learn as I go in Open World games, but those Ancient Ruins best to look up the walkthroughs they get tricky.
Great video. Gonna have to use that mount cruise control 👍🏾
The first game you could notch 3 arrows then change weapons and keep them set for your next fight just started this game not sure if you can yet

Great video mate. New sub!
As a long time DOOM Eternal player, that quick swap feature saved my life countless times. It should’ve been on by default and tutorialized. I’m baffled that it’s off by default.
1. Don’t bother with the melee pits. They are frustrating deceptive and pointless.
2. Don’t bother with the gauntlet runs. See above.
legendary gear though
Thank you very much. I miss most of your tips but as i am only after Latopolis, i don’t have to start over to use all that
I just got into this game on ps plus never played the first one and honestly i downloaded the game a couple months back and played about 25 min or so and deleted the game it didn't really suck me in and i noticed it on there again the other day and i figured screw it I'll play for a couple hours and if i still don't like it I'll give up on it and about 50 min to an hour in i was hooked it really starts slow but if you get through that the game so far is a gem I'm only about 3 hours in or so but the taking off the pick up animations was a game changer for me.
I recommend turning pickup animations off so you can grab and go
You can customize your button layout although there are parts of the game it can interfere with .. you can just switch lay out to default complete the part then switch back to coustome lay out

Congrats man, you explain very well, tks for sharing
Also during the arena section just turn the difficulty to story(very easy) and quickly go through it to get the best weapons. It wouldn’t be terrible but they charge you for each attempt and I think that’s bullshit
I wish I knew how easy the final boss was if you chase the ultimate weapons. One of the best games ever, but the ending was lackluster with the best weapons.
My biggest problem is inventory. I need shards like there's no tomorrow.
Hunt animals for blue and purple parts. Blue parts sell for 50 and purple for 150.
If you want hunting locations: most beaches have almost endless and fast spawning of pelicans, lobsters, crabs, and gulls.
Desert regions have tons of vultures. There is this crater in the desert where you find a slitherfang. Kill the slitherfang and hunt in that crater. The place has more vultures and peccaries than you have ammo.
Start killing machines
