- Drayton Manor Theme Park opened over 65 years ago, back in 1949, starting off as a small amusement park. Over the years, we have seen many ride installations including Shockwave, one of two Stand Up rollercoasters in Europe. Want to know more about the History of Drayton Manor? Then this video tells you what rides have been installed and removed from Drayton Manor between 1949 and 2016.

6:34 I remember going on this when I was young, I miss this ride 😢
RockyAli RBLX Get a grip , 2010 isn't old as the 90s loser!
Same! It was my favourite ride.
same
I went to Drayton manor back in 2009 and I never got the chance to ride it. But I was very young back then and we only really stuck to Thomas land which had only opened the previous year.
Same I went on it 1
The buffalo is in this kids tv show called Brum
I Love Brum When I Was A Kid. Thanks Callum. X
Interesting fact about Brum, the car. It was created by Tim Hunkin and Rex Garrod that also in the early 90s create a documentary series called Secret Life Of Machines, some of which are on UA-cam. I recommend watching what you can find. There is a segment about the radio control system on brum the car. :)
Oh Really. Brum The Original Series Was Introduced In 1991 By BBC Studios And Ragdoll Productions Back In The Early 1990's From The 20th Century Long With Rosie And Jim As Seen On ITV In 1990. Thanks English Law Mate. X
Ben 10 ultimate mission rethemed to accelerator this year
It sure has, it will feature in the updated 2017 version coming soon!
dubhippiehollie Wait what!
Theme Park Callum Toby train express closed the big wheel is gone and they renamed the golden nugget ride
MPL Diys Why did they remove the big wheel
Aqua Kitty I have no clue probably because it’s really old
My dad was a good friend of george Bryan, he went to school with him and helped him fix some stuff
Drayton Manor is in Tamworth near Alton towers, Derby
Drayton needs a new coaster.
I agree with you
Because g force closed this year another coaster should replace g force if it gets removed
@@LokiAvivson The closure of G force is screaming for a new coaster, and the fact that I heard that
Smaller coasters were being put in the area where G force was (even though its in the area where Shockwave and Maelstrom reside) is a big let down...
@Finlay Lane which ones
Accelerator buffalo shockwave what's wrong?
DomTron 900 it has gone the whole ride has disappeared and I think it will be something similar
Splash Canyons reputation is dead...
R.I.P. 1993-2017
Such a relaxing ride just because of someone stupid
Someone died on one of the boats
Draytor manor needs more rides
Nice Video Callum!
I've never been to Drayton Manor but I will still watch the Vid :)
Thank you, it's an enjoyable park. I like it!
Brynty Jermy it's in Massachusetts
@@cooljjay4276 no it's In Tamworth in England
Theme Park Callum 2016 The Haunting was refurbished in 2016. James and the Red Balloon was opened in 2017 at Thomas Land. Splash Canyon was closed in 2017, Chairlift and Big Wheel got taken away in 2017 because they were so closed, G-force got closed down in 2018.
They need a amazing coaster to put Drayton on the map maybe a B&M Hyper or Gerstlauer Infinity
I love how ur replying to all people that comment I think your video is very good and hard work has gone into it
Thank you, I really do appreciate that!
Great vid, however missed a whole piece of Draytons history out. Soundstage theatre was added in 2000 that housed the Popeye show for 2 years and then housed several very popular circus shows. There was also a circus big top for several years that housed large scale circus shows featuring international artists. Magical Christmas and the castle of dreams is also worth a mention.
-the infamous splash canyon accident
Really love these videos, this park has a real big history!
I am really glad you enjoy them. It does have some History behind it!
R.I.P. Sombrero 1998-2010
I'm a bit late but a well deserved 1000 subs for you! Congrats mate!
Thank you very much - never too late!
your Historyvideos are so awesome!:)
Thank you, I appreciate that!
Well pirate adventure was closed for maintenance and I have heard it is being moved but I think they will remove it from the park. Pandemonium is closed because they can't find the right part at the moment to get it working again but when they do hopefully it will re open. Stormforce ten is closed for maintenance and a re paint because it hasn't been done up for over ten years! 😱😱 And splash canyon is obviously closed because of the incident that happened with the girl who stood up to change seats whilst the ride was going then fell off and drowned. The ride was completely safe the girl just shouldn't have stood up. I loved the sombreros so much then it got closed down I was so sad. But it's so weird to see some rides I have personally been on and now they have gone. Then I look at the year and think wow that was really a couple of years ago! Shocking😱 Great video 😁
Thank you for the information and for watching!
No problem!
This channel makes me very nostalgic
Great vid Callum as usuall keep up the good work I would request island of adventure history please
Thank you. I am sure I will do this park at some point!
Really good to know, thanks Callum!
You're very welcome Tom, glad you enjoyed!
Brilliant video!
Thank you!
1:02 This Music Is So Funky. I've Loved Disco Dancing Fever. Thanks Mate. X
I'm going on Monday and I'm super excited last time I went was 2016
I love your intro and I also love the video.
Thank you, I appreciate that!
I work for Drayton mannor and it's nice to know the history of the rides I'm working on . Good job :D
Awesome, I am glad you enjoyed. Drayton Manor is a great theme park!
great video keep up the good vids
Thank you. There are plenty more to come!
Drayton Manor NEEDS a launch coaster.
It would be great to see!
+Theme Park Callum mack spinning mega coaster!
+Oliver Pryde that would be cool.
It doesn't need a flying Coaster bearing in mind there is one not too far away
What about a mega-lite or an Launched RMC (compete with SW8)
I genuinely couldn't swear to it but that looks like my dad in the splash canyon ride! I used to go there every year for my birthday. Great video, it brings back lots of memories.
Thank you!
Drayton Manor was my go to theme park in my early years of growing up in the midlands. It was only about 20 minutes or so drive from where I lived in Castle Bromwich.
Living in Devon since 94, in the last 5 years I have revisited the old park with my wife and step son. My step son had never experienced a theme park with half decent rollercoasters. He was use to Devon parks like Crealy and Cornwall’s Flambards, both very very tame and less thrill rides more family park fun.
He loved both visits to Drayton Manor and we now prepare our first trip for the both of us to the UK Coaster Capitol that is Thorpe Park in September.
Drayton Manor is a great place but it really could do with a couple of big, high speed coasters to at least make a noise towards the bigger theme parks in the Uk. Drayton Manor, if I’m right, has enough land to put together two absolute stonking coasters!
Nice video - I seem to remember a Jungle Cruise before Excalibur. It’s a shame the lake there is no longer used for a ride. I can only imagine the trouble they have maintaining the animatronics and such though!
Great vid been waiting for this, Blackpool Pleasure Beach is one I'm looking forward too! Realise it might not be too soon as the history predates 1900😂
Thank you. Yes, the Blackpool History video will take me a long time to make!
+Theme Park Callum so will cedar point
R.I.P. Original Dodgems 1952-1989
Hope fully there's a new rollercoaster with 20+ loops that would be amazing😂😘
Lol I wish.
The Flying Dutchman is closed now. i went to Drayton Manor on saturday and it's all taken to the ground with fencing around it. I loved that ride!😭
yep, I was really sad.
Alanna Greatbanks WTF WHY?!?!?!
it was sonly for maintenance its back up now
Alanna Greatbanks omg really I went at the beginning of May loved t
the flying dutchman is not closed

I remember my mom used to take me as a kid. I used to love the tea cups, dragon rollercoaster, big slide, buffalo rollercoaster, snake train, and the Jungle Cruise ride! Also what was the New Orleans boat ride?
We need a big coaster like the ones at Thorpe Park
Like your channel

Could you please make a history video of funland at hayling island? There have been quite a few removals and additions. Please can you make it?
Please
I am sure I could eventually!
Cool
I think Pirates Adventure will re-open. When I was there last, about April, it just said closed for maintenance so it doesn't seem like they want to close it. As for a new coaster? I don't believe we will.
I love Drayton Manor as it's my local theme park, but I just don't think they really care too much about teens and adults. They could do with replacing the Buffalo coaster with a Maurer Söhne spinning coaster. One like Spinball Whizzer would be great.
I think it will reopen as well, it is a big ride after all. a spinning coaster would be lovely or just any rollercoaster replacement to the Buffalo would be nice to see!
I agree; whilst the Buffalo is a nice ride for the kids, they have the whole of Thomas Land to satisfy them. For us coaster enthusiasts, we only have Shockwave, G-Force and Ben 10 (which is a kid's ride, yes, but a bloody good one!).
A nice coaster to replace the Buffalo is just what's needed for some friendly competition with Alton Towers. Even if Drayton Manor will probably never have as many thrill coasters as the Towers.
I absolutely agree!
Theme Park Callum I doubt it will reopen.. it’s been closed for 3 years and it’s now been confirmed it isn’t reopening.
It's good to see a history video on my local park, got some new stuff I didn't know, I'm going tomorrow :D
Thank you for the kind comment. I hope you have a great time!
Theme Park Callum No problem, I think the removal of all those kiddie rides in the 90s was really interesting
Cool from mood springs

it's rumoured that the buffalo coaster will be replaced by a coaster of some kind
That would be nice!

Drayton Manor in 1986-1987: Exists
Kiddie Rides: It's free Real estate
I know it's not very popular but could you maybe do one on M&Ds in Scotland?
I was there in 2009 18 years old 11 years ago when Thomas land was open that was the year I went on Sombrero and Black Revolver twice before the year it was shut down. Shame but it was a waltzer in the dark ride and many people got motion sickness or had other issues like scared of the dark or lights and fits which did not make the experience fun at all. But I hope a new coaster comes to the park next year.
R.I.P. Log Flume 1981-1998
It was a fun classic theme park with a various number of attractions and rides. It had everything from a classic carousel, haunted house, roller-coaster. The best chicken and curly fries I think I ever ate. Now it's turned into some frightening adult man-baby's toy train fetish paradise for paedos.
2021: Pandemonium closes
2022: a viking area opens
2022: Apocalypse closes
Dont know where youve made half of these dates up from? I used to work there. The vintage cars were there in 1979 for example. I know I used to operate them.
Yea exactly-Also I was waiting for him to mention the Dark Ride-The Crypt which had been there since the 70's and closed after the 2001 season
THATS THE SAME AS THE HAUNTING@@mikekaraoke
@@singinglift409 Ummmm no, that was a Dark Ride but a madhouse!
Where as The Crypt was: a Tracked Dark Ride and totally different theme as well.
Awesome frome A J
0:17 who loves the intro song
I've been on pandemonium ,apocalypse ,storm force 10 and troublesome trucks and lots of ones I went when I was 9 I am now 11
Itd be nice for an update now we in 2022!! What rides have been and gone again 😕 I loved going cos me and my family used to take our touring caravan under the big cedar trees 🌳 it was like being in America to us as kids in the forest and walking distance to the rides. The teacups reanamed to drunken baralls
In 2009 a discover Thomas exhibit opened featuring props from the original Thomas show. Of course they have to treat them like toys though. ONE OF THEM WAS STOLEN, AND ANOTHER WENT MISSING!!
They've started dismantling Flying Dutchman I went there today. G force was also closed
Flying Dutchman thankfully is not dismantled, they just did work to it, and yeah sadly G force is closed.
I'm going to Drayton Manor end of June. Never been before. What's it like Callum mate?
It's a park I really enjoy with a great selection of different rides. Not the best park in the country, but it is very good!
R.I.P. Giant Slide 1986-2002
I've been calling for a Floorless conversion of Shockwave to help contemplate some kind of investment but I do think that a new coaster should be in the pipelines. Now G Force is closed, I say replace it with a new Gravity Group Woodie or a Vekoma Suspended Thrill Coaster concept
shockwave is an intamin, not B&M.
I think you missed out the ice age theatre by the flying dutchman
The mansion was lived in by Sir Robrt Peel who eventually became priminister. I think there were 7 Robert Peel's, the fourth one loved fast women and gambling he spent all the money and the house went into disrepare so got demolished. The Snake train was brilliant fun. I remember a curly haired man used to drive a small but very fast tractor with a couple of carts attached to the back around a small course, in and out the trees, it was real fun. No Health and safety back then, you just held on for dear life. Good times 💞
Uhh what about their new themed areas Adventure Cove, Vikings and Thomas Land's newest ride, James and the Red Balloon??
I think Drayton manor needs something like icon a mack coaster or a gerstlaur infinite coaster
I really want to go to the UK
I remember g force I loved it and hated it at the same time and I’m looking forward to Drayton manor’s future
Shock wave, Poberelo express and Terrace's driving school are closed for maintenance

I’m sure the pirate adventure ride didn’t close in 2007. I’d say 2014? I remember going on it with my friends!
it actually closed in late summer 2015, So a very long time ago now-They need to bring it back

It's a night rope adventure course called vertigo, I have a season pass and I go every weekend! It's so exciting!!!
*high*
LivTheOreoYT lucky. I live like 4 hours from Drayton manor but when I go it's really good
Shockwave doesn’t sound very safe to be a rollercoaster because you’re supposed to be sat down not stood up
