Man, your informative videos keep coming and coming with great ideas for saving time and money. Usually these would be trade secrets, but your belief that the average person needs to know this stuff makes you a philanthropist in my eyes. I appreciate your thorough narrative. You seem to always answer any question that may come to my mind and this never leaves me hanging. Thanks for taking the time out of your life to help us average folks.

    Great advice!
What "hurts" the wiring when cleaning an engine bay is when people use high-pressure water washers. They force water into the electrical connections and sooner or later you will have problems.

This actually works great! My engine looks new again and smells much better! I just had to replace my radiator since the passenger side of it blew out and when that happened it covered most of my engine in antifreeze and it was stinking big time when you would drive it. Yesterday I sprayed the engine down like this. I only did one pass not two, but I used shop towels to wipe it down and used a reverse shop vac to hit the rest of the areas I couldn't reach. I found out there are barcodes on the cam covers that I didn't know were there! =) I am totally going to use this method from now on. My 2005 Ford Explorer engine looks amazing! Thanks Sweet Project Cars! =)

Also been using this for many years on many cars. I will use an engine cleaner first on a hot/warm engine, then gently hose off and allow to dry. Then tire shine everywhere you can reach with the stuff. Instead of compressed air, I've always used a leaf blower, then go for a drive to get the stink out from under the hood and the cabin air filter picks up odor until it's all dried off. And NO it does not become a dust magnet.

SPC did an earlier version of this and used the Turtle Wax brand which is cheaper. I sprayed, let sit for five minutes and sprayed again and then used a leaf blower on high since I don't have a compressed air gun. I'm not rich like SPC! Lol. I then wiped off any residual and it looked great. I got two complete engine cleanings with one can.

I tried this today. WOW... it really is just that fast and just that simple! I have always "washed" my engine bay twice a year, but it's so hard to get all the little nooks and crannies and this leaves such a shinny/finished look when done. The spray product followed by the air hose works great for those. I also used it to clean the underside of the hood (suggestion... do that part first so any gunk/debris does not fall on your just cleaned engine) and it looks great too.
I will next try it on my Weather Tech floor mats to give them a shinny clean look.
This should also work good to clean and shine my lawn mower and snow blower at the end of the season

Been doing this for many years. Works Great! Most people is like "why do you clean your engine? its under the hood and no body sees it anyway".... well I see it when I open the hood, and I know how dirty it is even when the hoods closed :-)
Besides, doing this on a regular basis every few months or so, and using a good protectant like Meguiars, it protects all your hoses, belts, and all the plastic bits, and keeps them from getting brittle. It also keeps the engine looking nice, if you ever want to sell the vehicle.
Thanks for the tip about using an air nozzle... don't know why i never thought of that before, guess just always used to using rags to clean everything, which is still needed if you want to clean it as much as possible. But the air nozzle trick would be great for all the cracks and crevices and areas you can't reach.

Probably my favorite you tube channel. Thanks so much for sharing all that you do. One question: does the tire shine affect the underhood decals and labels in a negative way? I've gotten cars back from a detailed and the labels become blurry from what ever they use, and then later on become unreadable.

Will have to give this a try. I normally detail the engine compartment with a foam dispensing spray bottle and a solution of Dawn dish detergent and water, then rinse off with the hose. Works well on grease and no worries on any engine parts. Does not leave the shine however and I usually spray down with another product for that, once dry of course. Will save a step. Thanks for the post.

What's about if I carefully steam clean with minimum moisture setting after the foam?

I love the foam and I believe if I use it as a prep stage and follow-up with my steamer I will for sure deliver a real professional job. See I do dealership work; I am afraid that if I just use the foam without rinsing it off with the steam, I may get a negative reaction from my dealers. What do you think?

Hello King no need to cover this product is not water-based we’ve done it hundreds of times on hundred customers vehicles and it comes out perfect every time and FYI you have more water come through your radiator driving at 60 miles an hour in a hard rain that covers your engine with water including the battery and alternator they are built to stand against that so this is 100 times safer have a great night will see you Friday

The long term problem is dirt and grime will stick to the plastics, I had seen it turn plastics and rubber brown too. That is only the areas that get super hot and/or exposed to direct sunlight all day. You just have to clean it up and do it again, it does last for quite a while too though

Congrats on your successes and "DOING THIS FOR YEARS!" This isn't something new and products do vary. My comment wasn't meant to be negative, it was meant to tell what I have seen and experienced, just like your video. I too have been doing this for years and keep my wife's car clean by doing this exact thing. My truck and my buddies car had the plastics change color and the dirt and grime stuck to the plastics, we also go wheeling and are up in the dirt quite often...no big deal, it didn't ruin anything!
