    Lovely tree, also really enjoyed the rain on the greenhouse roof. Nothing relaxes me faster than the soft pitter-patter 🙏

    Iam gonna be sincere with you. I like bonsai as to just create not for showmanship. But to the point, I've never thought about bonsai un regards to all sides of the tree. Seen many videos of your talking about it and then it hit me. Why NOT? Inspired!

      Click. Sometimes it takes a bit for that to happen. For me, it took many years of not being able to figure out what was missing in my styling journey. I eventually connected the dots and it just clicked for me too. 🤙

    Like the new camera. Quality looks great, colors pop! Maybe bring the camera down a bit so the top of the tree doesn’t dominate? The shot where you held it up more level with camera was the best. Thank you and keep up the great work

      Thanks for the feedback. I do appreciate it🤙.
      I’ve figured out a couple of things with the camera since this video. One thing is the switch to turn off the fish-eye effect. Mainly I got it to be placed where I wouldn’t normally set up my other camera due to fear of damage. It’ll be fun to use it for weird angles here and there. Most of the videos will have easier to see shots with my original camera through.

    Great looking tree. I like how you are sentimental over some of your trees - im the same with some of my own trees! Thanks for sharing your passion man!

      It’s hard not to get attached to a living thing. It just takes longer to get to know a tree’s personality sometimes.

    Hello from Tampa Florida. If the tree was my tree, I would air layer above the first branch at the curve and make a very interesting little tree and also have the top as another tree. I saw this while you were turning the tree while clipping it. Just an idea. People has different taste. Bonsai is an enjoyable art full of taste an ideas.

      I had also considered that. Every time I block the top visually, the remainder of the tree gets boring real quick. It’s got a unique style that I decided I wanted to continue developing as it is.

    Interested to see how that blueberry is doing. It’s autumn here now but planning to turn one of my blueberries into a bonsai come spring.

      Blueberries can be good for Bonsai. I keep saying I’m going to work with them more, but haven’t made the space for them yet. Good luck with yours.

    ok a few questions. do you have a video of you building your greenhouse.? What do you have (use) on the floor? and ist the greenhouse it sealed for drafts.. as for the hornbeam. What do you have for the soil? is this a classical Conical shape your looking for.. Sorry I know nothing of hornbeams. Does your significant other also enjoy Bonsais? Mine is scared. Since this is my first year and I have 6 pre-Bonsai trees, 2 volunteer Maple trees in pots, 4 Willow branches in pots, I tore apart a set of Nursery Norfolk pine and got them in there own pots to grow so I can make a forest in a couple of years., 3 volunteer trees in the ground. so yeah they let me do my thing .... "For Now" but learning Bonsia has helped me with the "real trees" in our yard. I like the way you talking.. like were catching up. it's like we're friends.. Left a like.

      So many questions. That’s excellent!
      No video of the build. That was well before I even had a camera.
      The floor is gravel (not lava😏).
      Greenhouse is not sealed.
      Hornbeam soil on this is half pine bark and half pumice. All sifted.
      Shape is conical for the moment but is heading towards a more rounded shape.
      My wife isn’t very into bonsai. She likes some to look at and is supportive of my passion.
      I talk like I’m speaking to people who are here to learn and enjoy Bonsai since that is what I’m also here for.
      Glad to have you here🤙

    I LOVE your vids! I always learn so much! Question, my Korean Hornbeam grew lots on last year, when is it a good time to trim back spring or Winter?

    • @BonsaiEcho
      @BonsaiEcho  3 роки тому

      Glad to have you here, Erick! Late fall through mid Winter for hardened off growth. During growing season for new growth.

    Just curious...what would you be spraying for and what do you use for it? Great tree, I agree that it shouldn't be chopped down...has a nice sinuous, elegant look.

      I use neem oil and dish soap mixed with water to spray for aphids. I’m going to do that today when I get home, actually since I saw new aphid activity on my vine maples and I like to stay on top of it.

  • @Robert_McGarry_Poems

    You can get the camera much closer to your center of activity because of the fish eye. Most of the space on the right is empty. Happy experimentations!
    I made a video on my phone, it's not great but shows my beginnings.

      I’m thinking shoulder mount for POV possibly...
      Maybe even wrist mount to show super closeups could be worth a try🤔

    Hey echo do you wire the bottom of the tree in !?

    • @BonsaiEcho
      @BonsaiEcho  4 роки тому

      Yes. I wire the roots to the pot well enough that I can pick up the tree by the trunk. and the pot and soil are lifted with it.

    Do you ever defoliate the whole plant?

    • @BonsaiEcho
      @BonsaiEcho  3 роки тому

      I have done a complete defoliation on this one in years past. In fact, it will likely get one this year.

    You know from my previous comments how highly I think of your work and I don’t mean to have this come across as raining on your parade but I am not a fan of this camera. I find the distortion distracting while I am trying to watch and listen to your narration. I also think the camera lens is distorting your work in general and specifically when the tree gets to the edge of the field of filming. Your first camera did none of this and was part of why your show hooked me from the start. Straight forward and easy to watch.

      I figured out the fisheye switch after I had already uploaded. Made me say to myself “That’s where that dang switch was!” 🤷🏻‍♂️
      This isn’t a replacement camera for my main one. Just a supplementary tool that I’m learning how to get more from. You know me and learning... I learn by doing. As always, your feedback is appreciated and always welcome 🙏🏼.

      Bonsai Echo..... ah, so. Thank you for the clarification. “Learn by doing” was the unofficial motto of where I went to college, Cal Poly, Pomona. It really is the best way.
