    I've left my pool up all year and had to drain and clean as you did but I promise if you take it down and clean at the end of summer it is so much better. Its ready to put up and fill with water instantly and I think it will make your pool last longer.

    Pool owner for years... just sharing a few money savings tips. Bleach for shocking and it’s cheaper. Just look up the amount for how many gallons your pool is. Also water softener salt (it’s a lot cheaper then pool salt.) but it’s the same thing. 😀

  • @TechMan1900
    @TechMan1900 4 роки тому +3

    To avoid burning your liner out with the powdered shock, try mixing it into a five gallon bucket with some warm water first. That way it is already dissolved before it even enters the pool.

    Hey just found your channel. Great videos! We just got a 16ft XTR frame. We just filled it for the first time and it looks like it’s just a tick over 2 inches off. Your previous videos look like you had a much bigger unlevel difference. 4inches?? Since that was 2018 I’m assuming everything held up ok. No damage or danger? Any tips to deal with the unlevel pool for the season? Appreciate it!!

    • @HappyFarmsLa
      @HappyFarmsLa  4 роки тому +2

      Thank you! Yes year one we were off about 4” the following year we made it worse somehow. The legs sunk pretty bad and we were off more like 6”. It held up but it was not ideal. We finally did it this year but as I warn in this video our legs still sank a bit because we used small wood for the leg supports! But we are level this year. Most recent is the how to vacuum and backwash filter. Ask any ?’s I’ll try to help.

      Hi, we just set our 14 foot pool up for the first time and it was 2.5" off. We used a jack and wood to lift the legs on the low side and placed wood under each leg that was off. We are now about an inch off. It was very easy to do. There are videos on UA-cam that can show you how to do it.

  • @jeanpierreremond2565

    Good job Dani, it looks a lot better this season. Yes a bigger pad always is good idea because the weight of the water put a lot of pressure on each leg.

    Summer is near. I put our pool up almost 2 weeks ago..That pool is HUGE. WOW I'd be so intimitaded. We had a 15 foot and now a 12 foot pool. And I'm actually able to properly balance my chemicals lol :). Hey you can try vinegar to get the staining off. Or using calcium in your pool. We upgraded our pump and i just stuck the hoses that came with the pool twisted them down in there and I have no leaks which will work until I can get the proper connections

    Hi I think I have a silly question but have the same setup and every time I’m use the test strip it says no free chlorine? Is that normal ? I have total chlorine but no free ? Also what test strips do u use ? And your pool looks great !!! Thanks in advance.

    • @HappyFarmsLa
      @HappyFarmsLa  4 роки тому +1

      I don't use strips but instead the dropper. From what I know, "free chlorine" is the active chlorine. After the sun hits the water it will zap the active chlorine out. So you need to get more "free chlorine" in. With the salt pool, I get new chlorine every night when I run the filter, so I don't worry like I did when I was dumping bleach in. Hope that helps. All the pool experts out there can be intimidating. Good luck and thanks for watching my video.

      Oh, thank you, I am not perfect in my videos but learning as I go. We have used an extension cord for 3 years. It is not reccomended but it works fine! Just buy a good outdoor one! Or even one that can be “grounded”. But ours is basic and no issues. Thanks for watching !

    @joshhaas2410 4 роки тому

    Sorry if I missed this in your video but why are you adding chlorine if you have a saltwater system? I’m getting ready to set ours up for the first time and have never maintained a pool but plan to setup the sand filter and salt water system from the start.

    • @HappyFarmsLa
      @HappyFarmsLa  4 роки тому

      It was recommended but I bet you don’t have to! When I add the chlorine I run it on free pump- not the salt to chlorine conversion. Do some research and see what you read :) also if needed you can “shock”your pool by adding chlorine to help keep it algae free. I did that once last season when we had a lot of hot hot sunny days and the pump was struggling to get the chlorine real high.

    Great video. Do you empty the sand from your filter ever season? Or just leave it ready to go when you hook it back to the pool?

    • @HappyFarmsLa
      @HappyFarmsLa  4 роки тому +1

      I did not empty the sand. It is supposed to be good for 5 years. However, this year we are going to take it all apart and probably clean out the sand to start over next year. (new pool) (this one just broke) (see latest video) This giant filter took 100 lbs of sand and still needed more. Thanks for watching happy swimming.

    Great videos, I’ve watched them all trying to get ours setup. The instructions are lacking in my opinion so these have been helpful. Just to clarify, you dump in the salt after filling, move it around to help dissolve if you can, then run the pump and the chlorine generator. Do I need to run the pump for awhile before doing the salt? And have you ever used stabilizer, supposed to help trap more chlorine in your pool, just curious on your thoughts, thanks!

    • @HappyFarmsLa
      @HappyFarmsLa  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you Courtney. Ha I try! I run my pump overnight before putting salt in (free pump) FP on the pump settings. ( don’t have to) Then I added salt
      dissolve well and ran the chlorine converter (at night) no I don’t use any other stuff :) minimalist but it has been fine. The pool is going to be zapped of chlorine during this sunny day so just run your filter for 7 to 8 hours a night and that should put the chlorine levels right back where you need them for the morning and keep it nice and clean I’ll try to answer any questions you have best of luck

    Hello, we are new Intex pool owners and I'm wondering how long I should run the pump. We have a 14'x42" pool, and are using the pump that came with the pool this year. I know we will need to invest in a stronger pump next year, but we wanted to see if we would like and use it first. Thanks.

    • @HappyFarmsLa
      @HappyFarmsLa  4 роки тому +1

      I would run it all night. Change filter often or take it out and spray it off to clean it. We used the tiny filter the first year and our pool eventually went green. Ours is bigger though and we live in a very hot place. Keep it as clean as possible with scooping out organic matter that falls in. A sand filter is amazing and salt is where it’s at I promise! But I understand completely, good luck keep me posted! ~ Dani

    Hey There! I'm purchasing an intex pool when they go back in stock (14 or 15 x 42), I was wondering If you only use the filter at night and how often you run it. Also, does it have to stay plugged in even when not in use? Some of this info may be in the manual but as I said I haven't been able to purchase mine yet. Great channel btw! These videos will be super helpful for when I put mine up :)

    • @HappyFarmsLa
      @HappyFarmsLa  4 роки тому

      Hello, awesome I will always try to help! I run mine from about 7pm and for 6-8 hours depending on how hot and sunny it has been. It has a timer. Yes I only run it at night. Since it is a salt to chlorine converter pump it is making chlorine and the sun will just zap the chlorine right out during the day. You can unplug it when not in use. I am always sure to unplug it during a storm in case there is a power surge and it could burn up the connector or something. I never run it in a storm. I highly recommend a sand filter like this one (smaller for you) If you use the small regular filter you will have algae growth very quickly. :) Thanks for liking the video and channel.

      I would recommend using cement pavers there a dollar each at Lowe’s if you can get those otherwise use wider and strong wood and I believe this pool has 21 poles.

      Ok great!! You did an amazing job by the way. Also once I fill the water do I really need to put much chemicals in it. I have some chlorine tablets so far and that's it. How will I REALLY know if the pool is ready to swim in.

    • @HappyFarmsLa
      @HappyFarmsLa  4 роки тому

      @@thewhitefamily5293 Get the dropper test for chemical testing, must better than the strips. HONESTLY I only worry about the chlorine. I will probably get hate mail for that haha. You want your chlorine levels to stay at the right place so you don't get algae. If you have a salt pool with a chlorine converter pump, you just run that at night. Otherwise you add the chlorine and dusk and run the filter overnight. SUN takes your chlorine, so it will deplete during the day. I really like the salt to chlorine converter A LOT. no algae this past season.
