In this tutorial you'll learn how easily import variable products from CSV or XML files into WooCommerce. Importing variations to WooCommerce from CSV or XML files is a complex process, but WP All Import takes much of the pain away.
When using WP All Import, your file can have almost any format - the only thing you need is something that is common for all variations that allows WP All Import to link all the variations together into a single variable product. You can use any element names if you are importing variable products from an XML file to WooCommerce, and you can use any column names in an Excel/CSV file if you are importing your variations from a CSV or Excel file to WooCommerce. This is a big advantage over the WooCommerce Product CSV Import Suite, which requires variable products to be stored in a very specific format.
WooCommerce variable product imports from CSV or XML files has never been easier than now, and when using the WooCommerce add-on for WP All Import you also get all the power of WP All Import such as the ability to easily update your imports later, merge stock levels from a different file in, schedule the import on a cron job to always keep your site up to date, and much more.

A good product but nothing happened since i bought it first time in 2012 so a suggestion to be more compatible with export from other systems would be to be able to map variable products. I have an export where Sizes are S,M,L,XL;PRICE;STOCK all made as simple product i have tried to import as variable product but still created as simple product because WP-ALL import cant figure out that the SIZE:STOCK has to be seperated in two columns when it's not in the import file. And no i can't just change the file it it's 20000 products and also has to be translated in the process. So a simple solution would be to be able to map it into two different columns in the import process.
And thats just one example that would be simple to solve but probably many others where it could be helpfull.
Hey janus, I've come across the same problem I have a t shirt for example with the sizes as you say and I've made it a variable how do I go about fixing this as I am yet to even work on this . I have the plug in when making the variables it just goes back to simple product when I have listed all attributes aka sizes. Is there something I have to do on the csv for it to be recognised? How have you overcome this issue? Kind regards

The CSV feed we’ve received has both simple and also variation items. Variations are formatted as below;
parent/child
parent-child
parent-child-child
parent-child-child-child

Would you happen to still have these example import files? I'm struggling to import a product that has multiple variations. For example, I have products that have a color variation but another variation that need to be available 2 times for one color. In other words I have a yes/no selection that I need to import as a variation and give it pricing. When I do this using all import it will only import yes or no but not both. I need each color variation to also be linked to the yes/no attribute for pricing.

This video is not showing true variations. All the plugin is doing in this video is creating loads of 'Simple Products' not variations? How do I get this plugin to create VAriations within the product??? Why don't you show us that in this video?

Is it possible to use variations based on attributes with different prices in the import? when I select "link all variations" the variation tab disappears and then when I import no prices populate over.

I have toys with different colors but each toy product has their own title and its own sku- the only thing that changes is that the title xml file has the color added to the title. Its difficult to put the same toy product with different colors, how do I fix this would.

Images don't work on mine.
Each variation in the import file has just one image.
It uploads to the media manager, but doesn't actually get set to the variation. It doesn't get set to the featured image of the parent either for that matter.
If I turn on the "add variation image to gallery" option, then the gallery gets filled with the images, but they don't get attached to the actual variation.
In my case, the CSV uses the "variations use the same title, no parent" style.

Can we set-up a few products on the site and then export the file as template to edit it offline and import later as shown here? That would be great help to manage inventory.

I have a product with 2 colors and 4 sizes, but no matter how I upload it, it fails. It is obviously a variant product, but after uploading, it always turns into many simple products. What is the reason? Can anyone help me? I want to help demonstrate remotely

What happens when your csv file has one image per variation? Yours seems to have multiple images for all the variations on file, but mine has one image per variation. And each variable image I drag into the relevant section turns into the same image across the board. I hope that made sense and can you help?

Not sure why the plugin has only those options to import a variable product. My variations don't have SKUs. How do I import it then?

You know real life is not that simple - variations color - two or three kinds of sizes - mispelling and or translations for colors name etc. there is still lot's of work in that plugin.

Yes. Any products that don't have variations included in your file will automatically be imported as simple products.

also, when selecting catogories and with child categories, is the title of the category case sensitive from excel to wordpress? it seems like its creating new categories and not putting them into the existing ones.. thanks!!!!

Not really helpful. Most people I think will have sizes and colours listed in the one product as a column say Sizes, and the Size contents for the product will be say 8,9,10,11
We would not have a different product code for every different size of the same product.
