    I've bought the MT Atom Helmet (in Chile), and have tried it for three days. At the store I bought it, they told me that Mt Helmets is related to Axxis Helmets (or viceversa), and Axxis has been in my country for about 10 years, and are decent at a mid budget price also. Refering to my opinion during these 3 days using the helmet, and in relation to its price (USD $170)...it feels pretty good. I use a XL size, and had trouble finding one that fitted my head and felt comftorable. Its snug, but not too tight. Has good paddings also. Ridding with it on, i feel that it does get a bit hot inside, and the chin ventilation is not that effective - I've had to rise the visor 1 knoch a couple of times (it has about 4 knoches before oppening it totally). One thing that came included with my helmet is a photocromatic pinlock, which is appreciated - but havent tried it on yet. One downfall is the system thay have to put on and take off for the visor - It sucks! Very hard to handle, and I had to struggle for about 30 mins....I was afraid I'd break it, and didnt enjoy that at all. The helmet feels pretty good, well made, and secure in protecting. It has various designs that are very attractive also. At that price, it is very competitive and should do well. It has both DOT and ECE Certification, printed on the helmet - not a sticker, and they are approved by our Ministry of Transportation also, which is very strict......The store had the ATOM 2 also, which is supposed to have a couple of other features, and the last Euro Certification, but was out of my budget.

      Muchas gracias! Thank you for the excellent comment. Yes, the visor replacement system sucks! I haven't touched it since I put on the dark smoke visor. I also agree, the chin vent is pretty lacking. As far as heat, I find it depends on what and how you ride. If you're on a bike with a big ol windscreen and very upright, it'll be super hot because it needs airflow. If you're a bit more leaned forward with less wind protection, lots more air flows through. Ride safe!

    Hi again, Do you have any experience-opinion with helmet-intercoms?...I havent had any, and am thinking on buying a couple (not expensive though, probably chinese)..looking at brands: Ejeas, and similar at a $40 range. Considering that I ussually travel with 1 or 2 freinds - each in their Bike, my doubts are, is it worth having a helmet-intercom? or is it one of those gadgets that you never use, and are a hassle connecting while riding?....Thanks in advance.

      I have the Sena 50C, but I don't use it for intercom. I use it for audio and recording video. Being able to communicate with your riding group can be beneficial as long as it's not a distraction and you can still ride safely. The biggest hassle is updating these headset with a computer. Some work well, others are a major pain.

      @@motoarkyne Thanks for answering. Yeah I've heard that updating is a bit of a hassle in many intercom brands. I have a couple of freinds that have Cardo, but its out of my budget. Sena is in the top brands also, so they must be really good. I think I'm going for a Ejeas Q8, which has mesh tecnology and seems to be a pretty complete product - hope it can pair with cardo (crossing my fingers).

    I've had mine now for a couple of weeks and just got the chance to try it at a higher speed (120km/hr)....and don't get me wrong, but over 90 km/hr...it starts to whistle inside with the top vent open and "its loud"....now shutting the top vent its a bit better. I'm not an expert in helmets, but I remember the last helmet i had about 7 years ago (Axxis - a bit more expensive model, aprox. $240), and it was alot more silent at even 150 km/hr. The Mtt Atom seems to be a good helmet, well protected having all Certifications, and pretty comftorable considering I tried alot and they were too tight - at this price range. Now, if I'd turn back time, maybe I would spend a few more $$ and check some other alternatives. In my case I like to go on small trips (2-4 hrs away), and I think the noise may get anoying on highways. Im going to see if putting a bit of mesh inside where the vent is may reduce the noise, and maintaning some air, and if so, that would fix the problem.

      I personally always wear ear plugs when I ride, so you could try that and maybe it'll help reduce the whistling. Then again, I also rarely ride very fast with this helmet. My i10 is my go fast helmet.

      @@motoarkyne I'll try with earplugs - but I'm adding and intercom. I'veread that some intercom users use earplugs and dont have any problem.

    What do you think now? I am looking at this and the atom 2. Im a medium as well i think.

      Sounds like it's time for a follow up video ;). Sooooo, I've been using it quite a while now, mostly for teaching, and for the requirements I had, it's performed well for the price. I use the flip up/down mechanism quite a lot when I wear it, and I had concerns about it lasting long, but it's held up thus far. Seals will in the rain, and I do ride in the heavy rain. I've dropped it a few times and it hasn't cracked. Let me know which one you decide upon!

    Difference between this and Storm SV?

    • @motoarkyne
      @motoarkyne  7 місяців тому

      I have not personally used the Storm SV, but based on the photos and videos I've looked at, it seems to be a more budget option compared to the Atom SV. But I wonder if it's market specific, or discontinued because it's not on the MT Helmets website.

    There's a reason why these items ship out with an "Instruction Manual" You're supposed to read it, before you fiddle with things.😓😁

    is it an intermediate oval fit?!!

    • @motoarkyne
      @motoarkyne  11 місяців тому +2

      I would say it is an intermediate oval, with a slight bias to long oval, just because I feel some pressure on my sides, especially with the front closed. But still pretty plush for a budget helmet. I appreciate the question!!!

    Whats it like when riding (wind noise)

    • @motoarkyne
      @motoarkyne  Рік тому +1

      It's loud. Not sure if all modular helmets are the same, but this is much louder that my full face helmet, which I think is also loud. However, it depends what and how you're riding. If you're more upright, like on a cruiser, it's not nearly as bad as when you're tilted forward, like on a sport bike, where it produces a whistling noise. But! it IS really comfortable. For the price, and for my purpose, it's tolerable.
