ronin s work perfectly, also with the 360 infinity loop, with canon 1dxii just need to stabilize it correctly and set you motor with the correct Tuning. using it every single day with my 1 dxii and 35mm f1.4. again just a beast...
JmK Pictures Hey! You’re absolutely right. Was a bit difficult to balance in the beginning, but once you’ve got that sweet spot it works great with the 1dx mkii, even for the 360 infinity loop. Thanks for your feedback :)
It’s preposterously difficult to start out on UA-cam nowadays. Your great content factored with the relatively small number of likes, views, and subscribers shows how incredibly hard it is to get started here in this era.
Thanks for your input. Much appreciated! It sure is hard to start a channel 2018/19, especially when you want to create above average content. But as they say: UA-cam is not a sprint, but a marathon...😉
2 Questions. Can you pan and tilt with the Ronin S and 1DXII and how do you trigger the start/stop button for recording without having to push the REC button on the camera itself?
Hey! You sure can pan and tilt with the 1dxii! There are cables included when you buy the ronin, so you can connect them easily and use the record button on the ronin. Also, if you balance the camera properly you can use the 360 barrel mode, which I failed to do in this video ;)
@@PaulHeimlund That's awesome so you could basically set the camera on a table and use the gimbal to pan/tilt for say a product video shoot or even an interview or B-roll for smoother pans/tilts yeah? Thanks so much for your help!!
Just about to return to video production after a gap of 8 yrs and find your channel informative and entertaining. After watching this review I’ll be purchasing the ronin s post haste. Keep up the good work
Great to hear, man! Good luck on your new adventure! It certainly is easier creating great videos today compared to 8 years ago, and the ronin s will definitely add huge production value to your new videos. Cheers!

have you figured out the 360 roll with your canon 1dx markii?? I have had the same issue where it doesnt seem that the gimbal can handle the weight. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Great video, Thank you!
Hey JAY! Thanks for the compliment! I have been swamped with work, so I haven't had time to fully test out the gimbal. I will try to do some test this week and post another video on how to properly balance the Ronin S with a heavy camera with the 360 roll in mind. Fingers crossed that it will work... Thanks!
@@JustinPunio UPDATE: I had a go this morning and I managed to get the 360 roll with the 1D X Mark ii and a 24-70mm lens! Works like a charm. I will do my best in uploading a quick video asap ;)
Hey Cristian! Yeah, just after making this video I managed to balance the gimbal perfectly. It was just a question to balance it properly. The balancing step I kind of skipped, was pointing the camera towards the ceiling to see where it leaned towards. Once I had this one sorted out the 360 roll worked perfectly. There should be a long video out there on how to balance it. Let me know how it goes :)
Paul Thompson Thanks, Paul! Yeah, this gimbal will handle a 70-200mm lens, all though balancing it is a bit difficult. But once you find that sweet spot it works a charm ;)
Try moving the camera with moving the battery grip (Ronin) itself, don't use the the joystick unless you really have to. You body moves the camera much smoother ;)
Great advice and I completely agree! The joystick is a big tell sign that something "electronic" is helping you out. I still would like to explore interesting movements where the joystick could help me out, but I guess I need a year worth of training before I nail it ;)
How does the gimbal 'detect' which camera model you're using? Do you need a phone App or something?
Attaching the top of the gimbal to the hand-column, the locking lever never seems to fully close. It only closes half way. Why is that?

hello Paul i need help, know i have Ronin RS3 Pro and my camera is 1dx mark ii, what cable i use for recording with button in Ronin? THANKS

What USB cable did you use that allowed you to start and stop the 1DX mark ii using the Ronin record button?
Hey! I use the supplied 5 pin micro usb cable. You simply plug it into the bottom half of the 10 pin connector on the 1D X mark ii.
Hope this helps :)

Did you ever figure out the roll issue? I'm having that issue with mine. I have the 1dx MK II with a 24-70 2.8 canon lens. Looking for some HELP!!!!

Your camera is balanced wrong. Thats why it was so "twitchy"
Hey! Yeah, I know. I have managed to balance it properly and the 360 roll effect and balance in general works beautifully :)
Looking for HELP! I can't seem to get it right
When you balanced it properly to achieve the 360 what we’re your axis at? I’m really struggling!
