A superstar could never go into a crowd like that in today's world....People today don't have the same respect, he would be mugged with adoration up to and probably including clutching, grabbing with force and not letting him back on stage.

If you would watch Elvis and the Black Community you would stop questioning whatever crap you have been fed about him. He grew up in a ghetto; hung out with the black community and sang in their choirs etc...........and took the type of music now that was his affilition and popularized it....................

As far as Elvis Presley and rhythm and blues music, Elvis grew up in Tupelo Mississippi and in Memphis. He grew up very poor. He hung around the poor neighborhoods, black people and black street artists, who were predominantly rhythm and blues singers from which he got his music influence. Rhythm and blues and Gospel. This has been documented many times. His popularity arose from singing rhythm and blues music and some black artist did not appreciate it at the time because he was referred to as a white person who sounded like a black person, and that he recorded their music but that’s where his love and influence was. During that time it brought out a lot more white people who hated him as well. He was often called “white trash”! He overcame a lot including being tagged a racist which was absurd.
The racist issue has been debunked many times over as it was something that was started many years ago by some jealous white journalist (I am caucasian) who writing an article in competition with Ebony magazine. That journalist said Elvis was racist because he read that the Dorsey brothers, who started that rumor, because they did not like it when Elvis was on their show and didn’t like the swing music they were adding to his live performance of Heartbreak Hotel, on their show. It pissed them off so they tried to destroy him by saying he was racist. What I have loved about this issue is that many black people have come to Elvis side and defended him.
Please see and react to Elvis and the black community, part one and part two.

I am a grandmother I remember Elvis quite well actually back in the day there was no problem with Elvis and the black community he actually was a part of the black community he was raised in the ghetto and went to church with black people I think there were a few that were jealous because they felt they might have been a better artist than him and because he was white she got Fame easier but as far as himself personal he was a very lovable person to everyone

It was rare for Elvis to do this because he would normally get mobbed. I saw a video where he barely made it back onstage. In his younger years he had his clothes ripped off and was even hospitalized. When he was at home, however, he would often go to the gate, sign autographs and talk with the fans. He always appreciated and loved his fans as much as they loved him.

This was actually done just for the TTWII movie in a couple of shows. Another one was a midnight show (which you've seen) wher the crowd was much wilder and it was really hard to get through it.

I remember Irish TV showed an interview with Elvis. He relayed a story about some of the dumb films he had to make, he said he asked for a gospel choir to do the backing track. They said “ you’re on a motorbike where is the choir supposed to be, he replied “ same place as the orchestra “ 😂😂😂 always very funny

There is so much that can be said about this video clip and your comments. As you said, this is long before COVID and also 10 years before John Lennon was murdered by a fan. The first time Elvis did this (jumped off the stage and started walking amongst the fans) it was totally spontaneous and his body guards didn’t know he was going to do it. You can imagine their reaction when he did that. They got near him fairly quickly to make sure he did what he wanted but kept him safe. The bottom line was that he loved his fans and we loved him.

He worked so hard, so hard. That's a big WHY when he already had it all. He made absolute sure his mama never had a need when she was alive tho she appeared not to need anymore. He showered her, but till the end of his life he had to work work work. He was someone's cash cow I don't want to mention, you can research it if your interested. But he had such talent. Gifted voice.

He kissed his back-up singers, too. He loved those ladies and he demanded his girls receive the same treatment did. Same with the men vocal group. He came in for rehersal one time and had a wig on and the group knew something was up. He dumped a huge bag of silver dollars all over the floor and everyone got on the floor and started grabbing them.

Reading a book about Elvis' early days: "Last train to Memphis." In 1957 Elvis made a guest appearance (not a performance) at Ellis Auditorium in Memphis for a Goodwill fund to help needy African American children. The women and girls in the crowd, all African American, went crazy for Elvis much like the women in the video. Color didn't matter. Some black writers covering the event did resent the adulation Elvis got while performers such as BB King were ignored, so maybe that's where some of the resentment sprang from.

I have a feeling from one of the official documentaries by his friends and family, that a certain Ms Houston mum was one of the backing singers, and look at The Osmonds live in recent years they talk about Elvis, as their mothers were very similar and the Osmond Mother became close to Elvis, as they shared the same outlook on religion, and other things, and some say that Elvis copied the Black music of the time, but he was way ahead of his time, he hated people being treated differently, again there are official documentaries, which I only ever watch on anyone, otherwise fact and fiction blend and that's where rumours come from

He was always respectful of other artists and he always asked to cover their song. If he covered a song he always gave a portion of the profits to the original owner or singer of the song. Dolly Parton wanted him to do her song "I will always love you", no it's not Whitney Houston's song, but the reason Elivs didn't cover the song is because Dolly wanted to reserve all rights to the song. Actually I think Elvis wouldn't have cared but the deal was handled by his manager Colonal Tom Parker. Side note Whitney Houston's mother was one of Elvis' back up singers. Whitney knew Elvis when she was a child.

If you listen to the black artist and entertainers of the time - there is no hate. The hate came later with haters and those that either didn't know anything about Elvis or who just wanted to cry wolf. To bad untrue stories have been passed down and folks don't do their own research. Anther great that had trouble with an improper image is Sammy Davis Jr. Thee best entertainer ever!

I felt bad for him in his last days, because he was in a lot of pain and he turned to pills. Pills ended up killing him! Putting that on the side, Elvis was kind, loving and very generous. All the memories of my friend are tucked safe in my heart forever. i saw him a few weeks before he passed we had a short conversation which i will never share again because people are so nasty and comment hurtful heart breaking things they do not know me but they still can't keep their mouths closed about things they know nothing about. He always did this in his shows. He loved his fans. The issue was he sang black music, but he said they had soul. It opened the doors for all black entertainers. Since he saw others as only his brother and sister, he couldn't understand why they wouldn't play their music. He was first to admit he was influenced by the black sound and he made certain everyone knew.

You have a great outlook on life I can tell! I like your perspective. He is the King.... Elvis the Pelvis was one of his nicknames. They use to ban him from performing they had such narrow minded people that didn't appreciate entertaining. Thanks for doing this, I'm a fan.

The deal with the rhythm & blues is that a lot of black singers think Elvis stole the r& b from them. But he didn't. He grew up in the sticks in Tupelo, Miss. beside them in the poor section. He was influenced by them because he grew up with blacks and whites together. He is not prejudiced at all. He doesn't see black or white just people. Also he is the best singer, entertainer that ever lived.

Thanks for doing the research! This song was from his 1st movie of the same name! His voice only improved and his range improved over the years. It would be nice if you could review that version also!
