I have. I met him, Common, Umar from Last Poets, and Dead Prez in NY back in 03. I got to sit in on their session and pick their brains. I was 15 at the time. That guy is brilliant. And he was humble. In fact, that was his biggest advice to me: to always be learning and growing and never get top big to get better. I'll never forget it and if I ever get the chance to build with him again in the future I'm gonna soak in all I can.

He even rapped over Neptunes beats before College Dropout came out, shouted him out in songs, rapped on his album, collaborated with the Neptunes on Watch The Throne, performed live at Pharrell's show... He also rocked clothes (BBC/Ice Cream) that Pharrell designed back in the day, and collaborated with the same fashion designers as Pharrell (e.g. Nigo). Kanye even stated that his sound is "part Neptunes". All that shit about hype, fuck hype. It's not a great indicator of artistry. Kanye and Pharrell are both great regardless, and are on the same level.
