General: - ALWAYS use a cheat death passive (+ potentially follower) - ALWAYS use the "freeze fix" to prevent game crashes as much as possible (see here: ua-cam.com/video/BMcPuRNImCM/v-deo.html) - NEVER use your best items for farming, instead farm with your second best set of equipment unless these are items that are imperfect / easily replaceable - Don't augment anything before you are ready to push unless a) you often play DPS in groups b) you have way too many gems lying around c) you get items you won't replace easily/ever d) you know you will only play one or a few builds the entire season - BEWARE of Dune Dervishes ("spinners", often spawned as minions by Nemesis Bracers) & Sand Dwellers: they can reflect your projectiles and you can oneshot yourself or your teammates. There is NO WAY to survive any of your own projectiles from these guys - ALWAYS pay attention to which monster types are present in your map. Beware of ground effects (e.g. Accursed) or explosions (e.g. Grotesques, Fallen Lunatics) or other dangerous monsters (Noxious Guardians) that can kill you even when you defeat them. Also pay extra attention to elite affixes like Waller (don't get stuck in a corner), Molten (don't run into explosions) and Knockback/Vortex (when you are not immune to crowd control) - ALWAYS use a mobility/immunity skill in your build - Build your character more tanky than usual to avoid proccing / dying, e.g. add more 200-400 more vitality in paragons or replace very greedy offensive choices with defensive ones - If you build is using Stone Gauntlets, beware of its negative effects and make sure to NEVER attack when you have 5 stacks and your crowd-control immunity is missing or else you will be stuck in the animation for multiple seconds +++++++++++++ Activity-specific tips: - For "easy mode" activities like T16 / bounties, make your character extra tanky and take things like Molten Wildebeest if it means no noticeable loss of farming efficiency to increase your chances of surviving a disconnect - When in groups: best case go on voice comm to call out lags / disconnects to your team so they can protect you - For general GR and EXP farming, choose a difficulty that allows you to effortlessly destroy anything. Dead enemies are no threat to you and if you can oneshot everything in sight after you had a cheat death proc, you can stay safe until it's back up - When you proc your cheat death, there is often no need to risk anything and you can return to town to play it safe. Only press forwards if you are very confident in your own ability to clear the run easily and can sharpen your senses to the main sources of danger for the duration - When pushing: rather put in a few more keys to restart a run when it goes downhill and play it safe instead of trying to fight against terribly dangerous monster types and elites +++++++++++++ Class-specific tips: Barb: Band of Might is the single most important damage reduction buff you have. Make sure to always refresh it in time (8sec) and if you can, keep a mobility skill (Leap / Furious Charge) ready. Crus: Akarat's Champion - Prophet is part of pretty much any Crusader build. You can use it to your advantage to heal up right before it expires by dying on purpose, but make sure you learn to play around that mechanic to not have it expire when you are *almost* dead instead. Also, make sure to always include Steed Charge or Iron Skin - Flash in your build. Monk: Dashing Strike or Serenity (or both) should be used on any build to escape danger and tank heavy hits. If you can, always keep at least 1 charge ready on your Dash when you are doing difficult content (such as pushing). DH: Elusive Ring can be included in many DH builds instead of Convention of Elements, which is an easy way to get started and make farming a smooth experience. Also, almost every build uses projectiles, so keep an extra eye on Dune Dervishes and Sand Dwellers. Necro: Blood Rush usually costs a certain amount of life to use, so beware that you don't drop to low to use it for escape. Also, many builds use Trag'Oul's Corroded Fang and apply all curses (including Leech) to enemies, which allows you to instantly heal to full in a large pack of monsters. Instead of panicking, use this to your advantage and attack to heal before running! WD: Spirit Walk has an insanely long cooldown without Grave Injustice procs, which can easily bring you into a dangerous situation when pushing. You have no crowd-control-immunity and a single Vortex or Knockback could mean your end if your Spirit Vessel is already on cooldown. NEVER waste your Spirit Walk when doing difficult content and always keep an eye on elite affixes. Also, many builds use the Sacred Harvester + Lakumba's Ornament + Soul Harvest combo. If you do so, make sure to NEVER drop that buff, especially when fighting against a Rift Guardian. On a single target you will take up to 2 minutes to stack the buff back up to 10 and without it you will be extremely squishy. Wiz: Halo of Karini is usually your most important and simultaneously inconsistent damage reduction buff. Make sure you understand completely how it works and how to keep it up the best, without it you will be squashed like a fly. Also be aware that you have the worst cheat death passive in the game with Unstable Anomaly, which simply gives you an absorb shield that can easily be destroyed in a few hits when your defensive buffs are missing.
Love this content Wudi! As a player dedicated to HC for a few seasons, I agree with every word you say here. Although I would add another 2 tips: do not underestimate bounty runs. Mobs are less dense at times and it can get quite dangerous when it happens and you can’t maintain your defense buff up. One of the few times I died not to DC was in a bounty run. I was able to clear GR80+ when I died in a T13 bounty(before T16 was a thing). And when farming GR. Do it at a level where one one shot everything(except guardian which should die in 3 secs) this tip protected me from a couple DCs.
Oh boy you reminded me of one typical public bounty run of mine in HC. TLDR: In the end, I was the only one left/survived. Bounties struggle is real xD
One other thing you might want to state: always keep a spare set of follower gear, so that once you level back to 70 you'll have everything you need (nems, flavour of time, avarice, etc) you can immediately pick up where you left off. Also, typically I level a second set of spare primary gems once my first gems are up high enough. Later these gens can be used to augment when you want to push.
Another tip, save a Legacy of Dreams (LoD) so if you die you can level up even easier. Save mats for at least one hellfire amulet and ring since they can be used at lvl1 and the ring gives extra xp. If you find a low level leoric helm save it too in case, again, you need to make a new character. If you are pushing GR and the rift guardian is really strong, its a good idea to try to be near the door to another lvl since it doesnt follow you and you can regain your strengh. Also be careful if you are running from it at the same lvl since it can teleport at you with no warning. If you use unity make extra sure you didnt swap follower or its charm because a follower not immortal will kill you when it takes damage (easy to ignore, almost got me killed once, took me some time to realise why i was extra squishy)
@@fletchers1378 any time as soon as you have the follower item with immortality it's just a 50% dmg reduction when u got 2 unity + immortal follower item
Yo @wudijo , these videos are why your awesome man! Been playing forever and HC is the way to go to enjoy the game. As frustrating as a death can be, the excitement in game is unmatched. THANKS FOR BEING AWESOME!
Played HC a lot (for me its a lot) already, never had a problem, never really died, even the server crashed when i was in the middle of 2 elites pushing highscore (it disconnected me automatically). This season the game crashed on me when i had a one handed ethereal with the hungering arrows passive when leveling up to 70, and that damned monster that drops poison when dead killed me when i was being super careful after i activated my second cheat death, i wasnt even close to it, total bs.
I can confirm that the freeze bug still persist. It happens to me on a few occasions this season already, both on Wizard with Firebird and Monk with Inna. You can lower your sound quality to lower the chance of triggering the bug, but THIS IS NOT A 100% FIX, just some work around if you don't want to play with no sound.
I know this is off-meta but couldn't you equip the right elemental immunity amulet to survive your own reflected projectiles? Probably not worth the slot but food for thought.
So let me get this straight : don’t use your best gear unless you’re pushing. Isn’t that the most likely scenario where one would die ? If you’re farming or whatever use your “less” good gear, which when farming you’re usually placing where at a safe level where you won’t really die
Save you best gear for pushing. If you know what you are doing and wait for 60 secs after proc, 9/10 deaths in HC is from disconnect. And because most of the time one spend is on farming, don’t farm with best gears.
wudijo there are also those sand golem monsters which are can oneshot u too nearly, when they are with those shwirling sand ring around them, just happenend last season on a dude, he got one shooted as sup barb from them i said CARE those shwirling sand ring, he meant nana all good
You have sanddwellers in the text description, spinners can be timed if you are good but sanddwellers are so hard to see the reflect band go up on, they are very deceptive.
I dont agree with waiting on augs, you want to aug early like 100-110 for early dmg/toughness increase, even more so on a farming spec. Problem with saving your best gear is if its a group spec, likely the season is dead when you have the chance to use it (incase you dont have a huge community with dedicated players to group with you) and then you sit with a char you wont push with anyway. So often its more fun to actually get use of your best gear early, instead of it just hogging your stash space, yes you can rip but if you cry about that dont play hc. If you proc you want to know, what procced you? ie still in danger or was it something out of the blue, ie not paying attention or play too fast for your ability ...
Both work depending on the player. I always keep back ups and wear my best pieces while slowly augmenting them but I play HC the whole season. If I was doing it like wudi did it for 2 seasons, I would probably do it his way and wait till the end while playing a sup to help others.
A few more tips every "real" HC players know. 1. If you proc'd, run away like a rabbit. 2. Have 2-nd gear in chest. 3. Pray game not crush, otherwise see rule №2 4. Have two independant internet providers running in same time, or rule №2
