HI! got a dual fuel towel rad in the bathroom. When changing from central heating to electric for the summer, is it right that I need to close off the flow side and leave the return side open to allow for expansion? Thanks

We have taken out our radiator completely and cut pipe back into wall as bathroom very small.
Considering electric towel rail instead but no electrics installed.
My partner is curious as to if we even need a rail at all?
We rarely used the old one and the room is extremely small.
Is it a requirement to have a radiator in bathroom and what would not having one at all be a risk of?

V helpful and informative video. Tky
When you make these videos, it is really helpful if you do a quick zoom on each step. eg how you connected your indicator hose to the valve at the bottom. What kind of adaptor??
Try holding the camera on the detail and voicing over, and giving us a good look at each part instead.
    Many thanks. Really helpful!

Great video. Just wondering if I could fit one in an old large radiator that has 2 inch pipes going to and from it. Do you get bigger elements or an adaptor to make the rad hole take the element screw size. I want it to be a stand alone rad.

Where do you get the element? I've been looking and have never seen one for sale - all the links seem to go to people reconditioning and shipping cast iron radiators. Who in their right mind wants to ship a 1000-pound radiator out to be power washed and retrofitted??

Is it necessary / worth while adding inhibitor to a stand alone electric towel rail? Presumably the same stuff you’d use for a central heating system? An 85/15 ratio seems to be suggested online.

Great vid, very helpful in describing the way to connect duel fuel, persuaded me to make the tall rad going in the utility a duel rail now before I install it. As i said helpful vids, saved me a few quid watching how to change the PRV in my boiler. Keep it up, thanks...

Love your vids. Is there any inhibitor you would recommend? All the products I’ve seen in the shops say they are only for radiators with water moving around boiler system rather than ‘leccy. Cheers.

    • @Tweed.Echidna

@@jamesdonovan2423 In the end I used antifreeze (as it can get quite cold in there without it on) which included inhibitor pre-mixed. I then diluted it with water ( I used deionised water that you get for battery refilling). In short, I went down the car aisle rather than the plumbing. All the best.

That is a nice rad. Surely a top man like you will not be able to look at that lock shield just hanging there!
I'm hoping it was for demonstration purposes and you will be offering that beautiful rad the chance to be plumbed in the way it should be, with piping hot water from a lovely boiler, to a lucky subscriber?

Hey, first off, love your channel! Been watching for a while. Now, my question, what size flex do I have to use from a towel rail if I wanted to wire a longer flex into the element? Also, I have boxing in my bathroom which means I could run the flex all the way into the attic where I want to have the fused switch. Does this sound ok to you? (I appreciate you aren't an electrician!)

    Urgent question!!
Great vid, I've got a Burlington Bloomsbury dual fuel Rad waiting to go in the bathroom, except the heating element is weeks away from being delivered. I've seen screwfix sell what seems to be universal elements. Am I right in thinking that so long as it the right size to fit inside the radiator it'll fit..? Plumber is waiting to finish our bathroom and can't until this is done! Would really appreciate a quick answer, thanks!

mcboogerballs88 Well you wouldn't use the one in the vid for a towel rail. I'd say the one in the video would be £500+....

I'm thinking water less coolant would be a better / safer alternative the boiling point is higher and it doesn't expand like water..
Mind it would make it an expensive option instead of £10 worth of inhibitor..
