I used to own a 2010 civic si and I loved the shifter. And my brother basically told me you need to go Porsche to get something comparable. Honda makes a damn smooth manual.
We've come a long way since I learned to drive stick on a used '85 Honda Civic with 90,000 miles on it in 1994...4-speed, 72hp, temperamental carbureted engine that needed just the right amount of revs to not stall, synchro not quite working properly on the first couple gears. Trial by fire is what that was 😂
You don't even have to use the brake hold feature. The car has hill start assist, which will hold the brakes automatically for you for 3 seconds when you release the brake pedal, if the clutch pedal is down and you're on a hill.
You need the "Hill Hold" button because they got rid of the ESSENTIAL *hand* brake! You hold the car with the *hand* brake so it won't roll while you engage the clutch! Yes you can just be skilled and quick, and usually that's good enough, but without a hand brake the car WILL roll back at least somewhat. Just one more reason that even Honda is cheaping out and making cars worse in important ways.
@@Dimensiom In Japan they have a famous "egg" test where you put an egg on the ground tucked against the rear tire on a hill and you have to move the car forward without breaking the egg. You wouldn't pass. With a hand brake, you learn how to use it, it becomes second-nature, and it's a useful skill to have. But also a hand brake is so important for control in snow and ice conditions you have no idea what you're giving up just in terms of control if you've not learned to use one. I know most people never do and if you're okay with being the lowest common denominator, as they say, you probably won't miss it.
Had a stick shift Ranger, Civic, Bronco, Frontier, and a Camaro. They’re a blast when you don’t have to commute across stop and go city traffic every day, which I did my fair share of 🫠
Brake hold will hold the car until you engage the clutch and start moving. Si also has hill assist mode which holds the car for 3 seconds before it rolls back.
I have bigger feet and I'm usually in work boots, so I end up rolling my foot to the right to blip the throttle if that would work for you.@@TheAeasy19
You need a better maintenance interval. I can say that with confidence because my family has 3 civics with these 1.5 turbo engines. One of them have 144,000 miles on it. No blown head gaskets and that's with oil dilution mixed in. Also, I was the one who mentioned these engine issues to my family. No problems from these vehicles!
It's not that bad. There isn't much power at the top of the relatively low redline, but it's got a lot more torque at the low end which makes daily passing maneuvers easy.
@@bcskellyI’ve got a ‘25 Si and the 1.5T is pretty good, just needs a Hondata or KTune to boost it up a little. I traded a ‘13 Si Coupe. I kinda miss the K24Z7 motor because it’s NA
I stayed with a manual so less friends and family would think of borrowing my car
Intriguing. 😂
It's also a great theft deterrent!
Mood lol
I’ve driven lots of manuals and literally Hondas are on par with Porsche they are buttery smooth and a delight to drive
I have an S2K and a 991, and I approve this message.

@@hussguy1990 Your brother is a wise man. BMWs USED to be comparable, but now it's just Honda or Porsche (or GMA T.50 I'm told)
I have the 24 sport touring with the 6 speed and I absolutely love it. 🔥

Had a 08 si loved it. Little maintenance, always knew it was gonna start and parts were everywhere. Made 237 whp
I feel like this might be the last Si. I have had about 4 different Si models over the years and I feel like I should get one again before it’s over.

So fun to drive
This is the most rational new car you can get if you want to have fun with 3 pedals

I have driven manual transmission cars since 2005 and I have never used a handbrake when coming off of a stop on a hill.

Waiting for motorweek to post another korean car so i can watch
allentoyokawa get mad 😋
Any long term owners of a previous SI 1.5T here? Are they reliable? What are the common problems?
Honda needs to redesigned a better motor for those civics. My 99 d16 isn’t going anywhere
B16 ,if yours is si
i've reached jedi status at driving a manual and i will never turn off auto rev match
Fail to see how an electronic parking brake mitigates worry over rolling back as opposed to a much simpler pull up handle brake.
Debating this rn or the 24 gti since the prices are down as inventory sells out
I si what you did there at the end 😂
Just got same car same color put a full exhaust on boy its a nasty sedan
Been driving manual for 20 years no one uses heel toe to just drive relax. Don't be initial d ing on the road
I have my brake hold off, and the car brake hold by itself on a steep hill. Anybody’s Si does this?
Brake hold will hold the car until you engage the clutch and start moving. Si also has hill assist mode which holds the car for 3 seconds before it rolls back.
@ ahh its hill assist mode. Ty
I been driving a manual for 10 years i still dont know what a heal toe is.
Downshifting. Right foot toes hitting the brake and then using your right foot heel to blip the throttle to raise rpm’s for lower gear.
@thatstheone23 so your right foot is facing inward ? I'll have to try it.
@@TheAeasy19 yessir. It’s for racing and kind of a pain to do.

Move your hands around more.
Unfortunately an obsolete skill for a bygone era.
If only it came with k engine vs the crappy L15
well, at least the manual is still here, for now.
No, not without port injection, let alone turbo charged!

Do you really think first time buyers are motivated to ‘save the manuals’?!
Except for that awful 1.5T 👎

The assist crap is useful I guess but kinda lame to not just go through the difficulty of learning a stick without a bunch of aides
Dont learn to drive a manual in a brand new car!
Bad... you don't need these and learning with them is bad
that joke was just bad, I laughed too hard at it. but it bad
Oil dilution issues…
Better get that Non turbo CVT
To be fair, no one is interested in doing their part to save the manuals if they’ve never owned one before… 😂
A poor man’s GTi 😂
