  • Peace Lilies look absolutely stunning in the shops when they are in full bloom but the problem most people find is that when they bring this plant home the flowers die back and they very often don’t return, leading people to throw the plant out. Here's what you can do to get them to re-bloom.

Like my curly spider plant gave pups, but it was giving me flowers all over the stems the pups were on and it looked spectacular. The flowers were only small, but the amount of stems I got and the amount of flowers on each seperate stem was really something else.

I have a peace lily that was at my husband's funeral 21 yrs. ago. I got sick and couldn't take care of my plants and being such a thirsty plant, it nearly died. There was very few leaves left, maybe 3. When I got well, I cleaned it up and started taking care of it and it's gotten to be rather nice looking now in comparison. I had a tiny 2 leaf section I potted by itself and it's just a lovely plant now. The little one blooms. The other one hasn't bloomed yet. I think it's still recovering, but it's getting there.

When my peace lilies crowd the pot, I simply divide them. 3 years ago I had a huge plant that I have been growing for close to 10 years and kept repotting in bigger and bigger pots. Then I took it out, and divided it to about 15 plants. I potted them all in new containers by the size of the plant, and had enough to give to friends. Today, I have 7 beautiful plants, and I will divide the biggest one again this spring. What a joy!

Sure enough it's just put up a lovely flower, so thank you very much for the tips. I think in the future I''ll still mostly keep them in a shadier spot, because I find it easier to get the watering right, and I like the darker leaf colour, but a few weeks for them in the sun is definitely in my future routine .😃

I live in south Georgia US. I have a Peace Lily that one of my best friends gave to me. My back yard is covered with tall oak trees shading almost all the area with patches of sunlight coming through, I have the lily on the back porch. Now here in the south the summers are hot and humid. The lily LOVES it. It blooms twice a year, but the flower starts off white then turns green while outside. When I bring it the flower turns white again. Only time I bring it in is during the winter or if we have bad weather such as hurricanes or tornados. I've had this lily for 9 years now.

I have to buy distilled water for the prima donna or the leaves brown (my neighborhood has lots of mineral deposits) while more expensive plants are just fine with tap. However it is a useful canary in the mine bc when I see it start to droop I know to check my other high water need plants.

@deansnipah1392 they only time mine will wilt is if it's bone dry. Make sure to give it plenty of water especially in this heat. I have to water mine twice a day now. I don't keep it in direct sun for long either. I move my containers to the shade. I get a cross breeze and it can beat the plant up pretty good so I move them when needed. I accidentally left them out in the winter and there was ice all over them. I cut them back to the ground watered them good and they bounced back, but I'm in Texas so winter for us is not as severe. One of the most important things is good potting soil. I swear by Miracle Grow potting soil. They also make a version for plants and trees that I use for anything I put in the ground. Have you repotted your plant to a bigger container yet? Sorry this is so long. Lol 😆

Thank you so very much for this video. I live in Ontario Canada where the winters are severe however I have probably purchased at least eight Peace lilies and I do have a green thumb. I even won the Trillium award for having a beautiful garden 10 years in a row which is an award given out by the Royal botanical Gardens here in Canada. I’ve never had any luck with peace lilies. They’ve all died. I have bought special soil special water metres to know when they are to be watered…I have kept them in a room that has light but not direct light as I know that it will burn the leaves. I bring it home from the store and it looks absolutely gorgeous. Within 3 months months maximum my beautiful peace lily has all but died as I’ve had to cut away all the leaves that have died along with it. Thank you so very much once again. Kindest regards Susan

Thanks Susan. That’s got me stumped because they are usually pretty unfussy apart from the flowering bit. I wonder what it is in your house they don’t like 🤔

@@SheffieldMadePlants thank you so much for your response. I didn’t think you’d even acknowledge it or at least I wasn’t expecting it. “Thank you “That shows me what kind of person you are so I’m going to subscribe to your channel. I’ve tried everything that you mentioned. I do have a house that faces the southwest. I have so many Palladian windows so the house generally gets a lot of sun but I have put the plant it in different rooms and they all die. I never put the plant in direct sunlight ever.I do however make sure that it’s not in direct sunlight and I try my hardest not to overwater it. I went to a horticultural store and they suggested a specific type of earth. The one that you were speaking about, that drains quickly. I know it’s so important for this plant to be able to take the water in and then have I have holes in the bottom of the pot so that the water can come out.. I’ve spent a small fortune on water meters, so that I don’t overwater it or underwater it but again they all die. Oddly enough, I have had neighbours that have gone away on holidays that have asked me to take care of their plants. If they have a peace Lily, their peace lily tends to thrive.???They are expensive in Canada ..35.00 for a small peace Lilly. I honestly don’t know what to do anymore. All of my other plants including succulents do so well. Many people say that the plants in my house are on steroids but not the peace Lily. Thank you once again for your feedback and consider me a new subscriber. Thank you so much and have a wonderful day, Susan from Ontario Canada.

@@animalsareourangels93 I used to live in Toronto. My apartment got very warm during the winter and the air was very dry. I remember the dryness, because everything had so much static electricity. That's the only thing I can think of. But then you said your neighbor didn't have the same problem. So that doesn't really account for your difficulty. I'm in BC now and I'm struggling with my Peace Lilly. I think it might be due to lack of bright light. Anyway, good luck.

Hi. I have several pots of peace lilies in my garden but they are outdoors under my bamboo grove. They are not in direct sunlight and they flower enough. I think its because they like our weather here in the tropics more. I don't use hormones and I don't fertilize them frequently. They bloom though during march to August more because that's our summer and rainy season. Maybe it depends on the region. Not using magic too 😊.

My peace lilies are thriving on neglect with occasional watering and some slow release fertiliser pellets once a year. I’ve had 2 peace lily plants in my bathroom near a large opaque windows (bright indirect light in the afternoons). I’ve had them for 10+ years. One of them I’ve had for closer to 18 years. My largest plant has just started to flower again (as we head into winter in a cold temperate Australian climate.) My bathroom will definitely get to temperatures that are lower than 10 degrees over night and we get summer temperatures that are in the mid 30s.

I have one sitting in a shower that is not used regularly and it does very well. It gets Seasol every now and then but no rule to when I do this. It is at least 4 times larger that the lily outside. Fills the whole shower cubicle and yes it does flower well. The window is on the south side of the house with an opaque window.

Have always been very lucky wit peace lily plants, have 03 now one of which has 05 flowers about to pop out any day now, more than usual that. 02 are in a south facing room, my 'office' so I grabbed the tape measure to check how far away from the window they were as per your advice, they are within the correct range🙂either side of the window. Other is in a north facing room but still gets plenty of flowers, not as many as other 02. I live further north in England than you (Sheffield?) so not great heat and light.
They do however, sometimes get brown tips and have no idea why, will have to look at more of your other vieos.

I have almost gotten my peace lily to bloom. I gave me a few smallish, not very white flowers once or twice in about a year and half of owning it. Now I will have to be more careful with temperature. My best indirect light spot is in between two exterior doors, unfortunately, every time someone comes or goes, it lets the draft hit those plants that are right there. That's where I've had it for some time, but I think I can arrange it to be about two meters from an east facing window this spring.

Mine bloom all the time. I put them near a window where they get about 2 hours of direct sunlight. They're much happier there & grow like crazy. I soak banana peels in the water I give them. The only downside is the flowers put off a ton of white pollen that gets everywhere so I'm always having to wipe off the leaves. It looks like someone sprinkled baby powder on them.

Hmm, I have two peace lily's in two locations. I have one small one on my western window cill which gets 8 hours of direct afternoon light in the summer and that's only bloomed twice for me this year, and I have a slightly larger one on my old TV just a bit away and that's only given me 1 flower, and even then it still has yet to open. And I'm pretty sure all of them turned green within the first week of having them, so uh...?
They are split off of a plant that died from root rot, so maybe they're still recovering but it does make me a little sad. Before the root rot, the entire plant was on my window cill and it gave me a lot of blooms even though it did originally burn. So I dunno, maybe it is just the root rot.

I got a peace Lilly from my local Walmart it was in horrible state. Rotted roots, and sun burned leaves. I brought it home and cut all the burned parts off. Took away all the rotted roots and put her in a gorgeous pot with fresh soil. She is finally big and pretty but not I need food for her. I wasn't aware of that. I'm not worried about her having tons of flowers. I just want her healthy and happy. My plants are my baby's.

chopping up banana peel is a great tip ( but what about banana peel tea ) put banana peel in a glass jar, top it up with water.. let it soak for 2 days.. and drain the jar, throw the peel over the fence in your neighbours garden, use the "tea" in a 50/50 with rainwater to feed your Peace lily's. ( or other plants ) 😇
