Neupert has come a long way since the old Revival days. I remember well the wars in the '60s and '70s between the Revival and Historical styles of harpsichord making. So glad we won!
@@hacmmgi6074 The conflict was between so-called "Revival" instruments that were based on piano construction and "Historical" instruments that were near-copies of antique harpsichords. The Revival instruments did not look, act, or sound like antique harpsichords, yet it took several years before the Historical style prevailed. Neupert is one of several makers that produced Revival instruments for many years, but now makes harpsichords in the Historical style.
I wonder how popular the Goldberg variations were in Bach's time? It seems like the recent popularity is due to Glenn Gould's interpretation. However, I love this performance - so many of the runs and decorations feel so right with the harpsichord
Huge bravo! Wonderful rendition, touchy, joyful, bright! Thank you, Natalia Solotych! You restored the glory of harpsichord, for a while in shadow and oblivion.
Vielen herzlichen Dank!
Superb. Such a beautiful execution of these timeless masterpieces - and she handles both the intricate and slower passages in such a fine and delicate manner. Thank You
The expressive power of the sound architecture breaks with any form of transcription of the real to attach itself to the expression of an serene universe. Colors and rhythm of these compositions are a language that gives life to exaltation
Alway wonderful to hear Bach's music on the instrument it was intended for and performed so beautifully. The mud these harpsichord pieces make on a modern piano is painful for me to listen to. The harmonies on the harpsichord are just fabulous in frequency perfection; I am sure Bach would have wanted his music played on this instrument.
Eternal Music does not only need the past, the ancient era, in which it was written, it is "Music forever" because it was "launched" into eternity and, in a certain sense, it does not even belong to the composer who wrote it. Bach's music is as alive to us today as it was in the 18th century, otherwise we wouldn't be playing it. Our time today gives us the privilege of being able to play these works of art out of past eras which would probably disgust us very much in other respects if we lived them concretely and meticulously. / ... I prefer to live today, get to know Bach and all the rest of the wonders of Art that History has granted us and grants us. Because all the past, known well or badly (we can't be sure), is in today.
I love BWV 988, though I never understood the hype surrounding Glenn Gould's interpretations of it. Personally I find his constant humming to be extremely annoying. Besides I think harpsichord is a greatly undervalued instrument for the 988. I have a version by Ottavio Dantone which is my favourite of all interpretations I've heard. Sadly I can't find it here on YT, and I suspect it will be taken down if I do upload it.
this is not a video, this is a mockery; the ads are in the middle of the play; if there is no way of doing without ads, could you at least place them in a more human way? dislike and channel ignored

Beautifully played. The tempo, rhythm, slight pauses are just perfect. Thanks for sharing
Gracias

¿O es un clave ?
Clavicémbalo, clavecin, cembalo, harpsichord.

Agree. as when Bach was composing whether on an instrument or on paper the sound he would have heard was that of a harpsichord.
They were actually meant to be played on the sackbut
Ha ha ha.
Wunderbares Spiel☺️
great!!! i really like this interpretation and moive,, and wait 16~
Thank you very much! The second part will com up soon.
Do Brasil. Linda demais a música do grande compositor barroco J.S.Bach

Exquisite exciting commercials occasionally interrupted by the sublime.
Muchas gracias

Bach on the harpsichord...not so bad :)
Musicians like her, like very few others were gifted not only with the love of music, but with God-given gift of very special brain

Is this a lute harpsichord?
This is NEUPERT-harpsichord, model "Hemsch" in french style:
2 manuals, 3 registers (8' 8" 4), lute 8"
what is that for a building? looks like a former church?
Yes, that was a church. Today it is a concert hall.
Which church is this?
Johanniskapelle Bamberg
@@bambergbaroque9457 oh merci. Très bien. Nice recording.

way too fast. cool for cell phone culture. but when people lived in 1720, there was a much slower and more patient understanding of life
thankfully we got scholar thomas schwarz to teach us all about tempo 🙏

Don't be bamboozled by this Goldberg Variations stuff. It's predictable. It became trendy for the wrong reasons.
Whether one has the competence to judge which reasons are wrong or right - that is the question here. :)
Well, that's certainly a vague bit of cynical, hipster trollery on your part. Best wishes from Vermont 🍁

WIth exception of Glen Gould.
I think "never talk......" is a bit too far up himself. I enjoy the music for itself, not to analyse it to bits. That's for musicologists.
