It has been a long road for you David to get this engine back together, and I'm sure a few headaches along the way, I'm happy to see it finished, and look forward to the first run, nice work.
Like new, great engine! I recently acquired a OS FS90 completely locked up, it must of sat for 20 or so years and old caster was like gorilla glue. I am going through it and finding the motor has extremely low time and no rust. Your videos on the 90 have been a excellent guide for me on this, especially on dealing with the reverse cam/gear screw, the followers were of course frozen as well, but cleaned up very nicely. Thanks!
Looks perfect. Where did you purchased the new crankshaft? I have got a NIB FS 48 Surpass which i want to use on a plane next season. Unfortunaly it has the old style crankshaft and i dont want to loose it just after a few runs. Greetings from germany Sebastian
Some eBay vendor out of Hong Kong. As long as your crank pun is solid you have nothing to worry about. The early hollow crank pin shafts are the ones breaking. OS fixed this issue almost immediately many, many years ago.
No i got one with the hollow crank. Just like the two you have got. Seems to be one of the early 48s. I will have a look in ebay and try to find a solid one.
It is no where near twice the cost of a new engine. NIB samples sell for about $175 now. That is about what I have in this engine. I have several folks ready to buy this now too.

Well I have run it, and it runs as nice as it looks. A bit later I will make that video public.
You make it look easy Dave. Looking forward to see the break in video.
I watched 6m : 15s of this video. Reminds me at the FS48 I rebuild. Another great engine back in action.

Perfect background music.
Wait to see the test....
does anyone know if this engine originally has a cylinder head gasket (sealing ring)?

@@dmrcflyr2 That was tongue in cheek. :)
Well you should know that simple text doesn't translate 'tongue in cheek', emotions, or humor very well.
