Great tutorial, Daniel! I think you you left out the part that we also need to learn how to fix our drones and the use of Betaflight. Great work on getting this info out for all of us (new pilots)
Starting with the Betafpv Pavo 20 .. I've been flying drones for 8 years, but the world of FPV is totally another crazy thing. Thanks for this tips bro! Regards from Mexico 🇲🇽🌮
I have to agree with everything said in this vid. Especially number 1!!! Went from one analog drone to 11 drones pretty fast!! And digital is very expensive but in my opinion worth it. Get out there and fly!!!
Love the effort put into the video mate! I am 3 months into creating content and I know is hard! Awesome awesome work and great tips! I wish I knew these 8 months back when I just started. You 've a new sub! Keep it coming man!
Appreciate that Curly 🙌 It definitely is difficult! I found planning and scripting this video made it WAYYY better. Also being ruthlessly introspective and always seeking to improve. Good luck with your journey!
Really liking your style of filmmaking! It’s like you’ve followed my only rule, which is that ‘art has no rules’! Keep it up, great content. Perfect length as well!
Nice summary. One I would add is fpv is so immersive that in the beginning I lost spatial awareness of where I was in relation to the drone. In other words, I sent it to the other side of a mountain from where I was standing. I'm glad I started with the dji fpv as it triggered the RTH function and I didn't lose it. Now I'm always aware but it took me a few times to remember.
Same here. I picked up an Avata 2 for testing, and I’m finding I’m having spatial issues again. The goggles 3 cut light leak so we’ll that I’m getting sucked in lol
That’s definitely a good way to start! Only negative is you can’t really bring the goggles and controller to your next drone. Or at least you’ll probably want higher quality ones for your next drone
@@DanielJohnFPV Very true! Goggles were a bit to be desired so I attached them to the remote. I do have to say durability was and is insane with that little EMAXX.
Thanks Thomas! Long range is great - just understand that it is something you have to work up to. You have to race karts before you can race in F1 lol.
@@DanielJohnFPV I’m not complaining, just a real number. Only because I send it daily. Here’s the real lesson, don’t drink and fly. I’m stuck in angle mode till I have three beers, then it’s acro fly under parked cars. Liquid courage but I’ve got another 10 k for the next crashes
Flew fixed wing for years, picked up fpv a couple years back, never touched a sim. I'm not a freestyle super star but I can fly to the point that makes me happy, and I'm 55. But with the cost of things in this economy a sim is probably a good start.
Would it be a good idea to start off with a drone like the Tiny Hawk 2/3 Freestyle, maybe a cinewhoop like the Meteor 75, or should I just go all in with a 5” freestyle?
Some positives and negatives there. First off, I've never flown them so take that into consideration. I've heard that all of those drones are a blast to fly, but sometimes tinywhoops can actually be HARDER to fly than a 5". You are less likely to damage stuff and the drone itself because they weigh less, but tiny whoops also ship with analog VTXs. If you want to eventually get into HD VTXs, then HD goggles will be a big expense down the line. You may be able to use the same controller though which would be helpful. I know that isn't the most helpful lol. Ask yourself: will you want to get a 5" eventually? Because if so, it may be "cheaper" to just rip the bandaid off now.
Personally I like the DJI sphere of products, but they are definitely pricey. I've heard some good things about other systems, but I also hear a lot about random bugs that pop up. I'd love to give Walksnail or HD Zero a try, but I'm not curious enough to drop a ton of money on a new ecosystem.
TIP I would go back and tell my past self, -> DVR is recording the OSD Install a GPS and make sure your DVR is recording the OSD. BF's GPS rescue has come a long way in that past couple years, but on the chance that the battery runs out before the drone is able to make it home, or something else goes wrong, having the last known GPS coordinates, might save you a drone.
@@style_tex that depends. O3 is as good as gp9 but still gp9 has slightly better details. For socialmedia its ok but commercial unfortunately not, like lack of 25/50fps. Hi5🖐
Number one tip. Buy what You can afford and spares and batts and just go fly on an open field with medium grass for softening the crashes. The more you fly in real life scenarios the more your brain will learn. Challenge yourself. Do racing or some simple course. Gaps. Chase some driftcars. Do some bando. Have fun. Know the law. Good video Daniel 🚀 Cheers 🖐
One thing I didn't hear..If you intend on flying with others there are difficulties that dji can cause when flying with other systems. I flew analog for years , now fly HDZero and have given up trying with the local dji folks all on 50mbps and/or flying the "A" channel ...🙄

Well tbh you dont really need a Gopro anymore for cinematic. If you buy the o3 airunit you basically have a 2 in 1 System.

^ this. The sim is nice, but there’s no teacher like the real world.
Acro for exterior, angle for interior.
Or don’t be bad/add crash recovery
After flying fpv for nearly a year using the tx16s, holding a ps4 controller just feels wrong
😂 I bet. I tried thumbing a smaller controller the other day and it felt so awkward
What backpack do you use ?
I use the PGYTech OneMo. Bought it used from a friend - it's okay.

Do I need a ham license to fly FPV in America.
Nope. You will need a Part 107 certification if you want to make money from flying, but no license is needed to fly as a hobbyist.
