I see a lot of us have this same problem! I have an 89 Skylark with the same motor...Thought it was probably the pump but changed the relay and the oil pressure switch first. Then I found your video and BAM!!! God Bless You, kind Sir!!!
Thanks I just figured out that my back middle fuel injector is doing the same thing on my 1990 Buick Skylark. I'll try cleaning all my injectors tomorrow.
Yup, same problem on my 91 Cutlass Ciera. The culprit injector was the only one not an original Multec. Wide range amonst them when I OHM tested them. So I bought a set of used ones. I'm glad I don't need a crankshaft sensor.
I would like to thank in person to who made this video. I just experienced the same problem in my 89 Buick, I spent a week in the shop having 2 mechanics working on it not having a clue of why it was not staying on This video made the mechanic crazy. Thanks a lot !!
Hi , i have a 91 Buuck LeSabre Custom with V-6/231/3800 eng. Been having a issue lately where the engine might run good for a few mins, and either sputter and cut off or just cut straight off. Sometimes, if i pat the gas peddle i can keep engine running, and sometimes when i press gas peddle, it seems like it isn't getting any gas like maybe bad fuel pump. Do you think i have a bad fuel injector, or maybe more than 1 injector bad?
I had 3 bad injectors. that was the easy part. I took off the throttle position sensor but a little piece of the screw is still in a hole. Any ideas how to get the screw out? The space is so tight above the thermostat housing
Have you ever had an issue with theese cars where you put your foot all the way down and the brakes don't work, cause I drove home tonight in 1st with no brakes what could be the issue?
Check for fluid, if theres no fluid in the reservoir you got a leak in one of the lines, its not sectioned off from front to back so itll lose all fluid, I would think even with some fluid still there they would work
Just follow the upper radiator hose from the radiator to the thermostat housing (where the hose mounts to the engine) the thermostat is in there. It is a difficult job. I had to have a good mechanic friend help me change it. It was harder than the injectors, which I did myself.
@@ericacherney3132 The guy that helped me kinda said the same thing. Mine is an 89 Skylark. He was able to do it, but said GM made it harder than it needed to be.
I have this engine in my 92 buick century. So 4 out of 6 injectors are bad. What all comes off before I can get to the injectors? Will I have to go as far as removing the upper intake? I would love to see a video on that.
@@me7700 thanks. I think I have it on changing the injectors. The problem has been there a long time so should I change anything else related while I'm in there?
@@jludtxs I can't think of anything that should be changed at the same time. You won't be taking much apart. Just popping out injectors and replacing them. That way you'll know if injectors where the cause of the problem.
@@me7700 well, the engine sounds much better with new injectors but still a problem. I am only able to drive a couple miles and the temp light comes on and the car stalls. The fan is working. the overflow water isn't boiling. Maybe I should change the thermostat but what about the temp sensor? I'm not sure where it is yet
@@me7700 Darn it, I changed the coolant temp sensor and same problem with shutting off. I think the thermostat is bad- when I was filling the radiator back up, at the point when the thermostat should open leaving more room to add more fluid, it bubbled out of the radiator. The problem I'm having is getting access to the thermostat. It looks like the only way in is by taking off part of the exhaust. I can't get the bolts to budge after a week of spraying them with wd40. I broke my socket trying to loosen the bolts on the exhaust. Is there a better way or will I have to cut off the bolts?
that's a shortage fuel injector I have the same car the ECM is tripping relays and shutting system off replace those fuel injectors or at least that one and you'll notice it quits doing it immediately
Ok my dad has a 87 century T-type 92 regal GS and both of them were doing that and it turned out to be the crankshaft position sensor, thanks for replying to my comment, have a great day
I think it's more of an electrical problem (high resistance) and it causes problems with the other injectors because they are on the same circuit. Batch Fired

You're 100% correct. I ended up replacing them all.
Been hunting down this same problem for months. Just did this exactly and found the bad fuel injector.

Wish I would have watched this before I changed the pump, thanks for the vid.

Thanks a lot !!
yes!! thank you! was about to pull the tank and replace the fuel pump, but tried this and it started up with the left front injector unplugged.
Awesome vid, this is happening to me and my buick. i will be checking these first thing. TYSVM
I'm glad you posted this video...I have a 1991 buick century mines did the same thing one bad injector...
Which Cylinder Was It.
Good looking bro had the same issue unplugged one injector and bam got a start plug it bak in and died !! Thanks!!
Just saved my day thanks for the video
Thanks this is great information
Looks like my 92 olds cutlass ciera. Just a few things look little different under the hood
Oldsmobile is under the tree of GM cars as well so they basically are the same car with minor visual differences
Wow I have same issue! If it will quit raining I will go out side and check injectors. Previous owner change everything.
How did you get to the injectors

We’re is the Pcv valve for this car man
Fuel pressure regulator vacuum line leaking fuel into intake?

On this car injector replacement was very easy. No intake removal. It's been awhile but I do remember it was a very simple procedure.

What is it ? The fuel injector?
yes one bad injector but it also makes the other 5 not fire properly. Best to replace them all.
Good catch.....
Will that fix it by putting a new one in or is it wiring problem
On my vehicle it was just a bad injector and there was no problem with the wiring.
Your channel says me I call you Saint Me

Can you make a video showing where the crankshaft position censor is located?
The car belonged to a friend and I don't have it available to make another video.

Crankshaft position sensor
It turned out to be a bad fuel injector. I had already replaced the crank position sensor.

you should have just replace that faulty fuel injector instead of replacing everything else first you would have saved a lot of money.
