I was super excited when I saw this video pop up on my feed! Thank you so much for showcasing the game, I love to see you insert your personal brand of narrative and natural instinct to tweak and change the rules, that is why I always assume people will do with my games so it's awesome to see it done and realize the game still holds. I did realize that combat gets a bit long and boring, and that's why I added new, optional combat rules in the expansion, Egrastea Reborn.
For your random difficulties, I notice there are 7 levels, with normal in the middle. You could roll 2d4, and assign the numbers 2-8 to each difficulty level (5 would be normal). This would create a natural bell curve, with normal being the most likely and 2 and 8 being the least. Just an idea. You could even define some areas, islands, etc. as generally easier or harder locations, which have a +/- modifier to the random difficulty numbers.
Thanks for sharing your take on Broken Shores. I've been playing it some lately myself. I really enjoy it. I especially like that magic is so dangerous and unpredictable. Alex just released a supplement 'EGRASTEA REBORN' that has some optional combat rules. I have the supplement but haven't had a chance to sit down with it yet. For me, the very ambitious hex grid represents how much the world is just ocean. And I've not yet come anywhere near filling up the sheet. Survival is hard :)

Alex is such a creative force, and a kind individual as well!
Thank you so much!
Picked this one up based on this review. Thank you!

She was “hanging out” with herself 😂😂. This is great, I need to try it with Pirate Borg….
I wonder if it could be used with Pirate Borg.
D100-based systems are superior, and that's a fact 😆
