    I dont know how this games has not gotten more attention. It is so streamlined and complete within 60 pages. It is clear and the selection of information is great. Having the rules and the GM/Solo rules within that page limit is super convenient.

    This is incredibly meaty little book, what a gem! It's tables cover everything you need in D66 format (my favorite), so organized, simple and tasteful! It deserves way more praise than it gets! Thank you for your review, I pick it up because of it!

    I like books that have rules / mechanisms for downtown.

      It would be awesome if you do a review on this game/engine!

    I bought this book a few weeks ago and am loving it so far. The game system is simple but robust, and having all those random tables in the same book makes it so easy to use.

    I'm new to the OSR, but FORGE feels like the perfect option for groups and soloists wanting a free, streamlined, well-designed system.

    Into the Cess & Citadel and Into the Wyrd & Wild are soooooo good! Must haves for every fantasy game.

    Colour me intrigued - never played solo and going to pick up a copy and give it a go - seems like it would make it easy to get into

      Enjoy! I have tons of content on my channel about how to play solo (even tho there is not one “right” way to do so)!

    Another good look at a cool book! so much in here, seems a one stop tool kit. really appreciate the example creature section

    Thanks for the review. Looks like a nice ruleset. I'll probably pick it up soon. And thanks for calling out the smaller font in the booklet version. My old eyes will probably prefer the hardback. 😊

      Glad you enjoyed the vid. Yes, if you are concerned about your older eyes (I have those too!), spring for the bigger book. Even that font isn’t huge, tho I found it fine. To the creator’s credit, he’s including tons of material & probably wanted to minimize page count due to manufacturing costs.
      But the smaller book looks to have been a design shrunk down rather than a new font reset so it is a bit tight.

      I have multiple books of these same rules & Scarlet Heroes seems more solo focused than this one (if you want to run one or 2 PCs). The tables look like they could be useful but SH has that as well. Redundant for me but may be interesting for others.

    I got the pdfs for this game not too long ago and started reading through them. Didn't strike me as particularly innovative, but is a nice, easy system for solo. Especially if you have experience with any OSR rule set. You can almost play right out of the box if you know OSR.

      I may skip FORGE since it seemed to look like it came out during the ogl debacle and tried to appeal to people during said debacle. For me who got burnt out from trying different rpgs due to drama, i cant help but feel the ttrpg market got a bit more saturated than it was a few years ago and at this point I cant help but feel recommendations are done out of spite against wotc rather than genuine interest.

      @@rpgchroniclerI can’t speak to the designer’s motivations in creating this of course & I have no interest in whether or not anyone buys it but on my end the wotc scandal never entered my mind when thinking about this until I read your comment just now. I only recommend material that I think can be of interest to my viewers for what it offers and no other reason. I present a lot of similar things because everyone likes something different and yes you are correct that there’s a lot out there now (too much?). Thanks for watching and commenting.

      @@rpgchronicler Hi there. I just wanted to reassure you that capitalising on the wotc scandal never even crossed my mind - I have been playing my own versions of d&d for years, both in a group and solo. I started work on FORGE middle of last year and it just so happened to coalesce into a finished product when it did recently. I hadn't intended on releasing it to a wider audience until I was convinced to do so by friends and family. I love playing solo and am dedicated to making it easy for others to do so too.

      @@GeekGamers01 i was commenting to the original poster of the comment, but im well aware thankfully you make videos on games/supplements you feel are worth making regardless of whats happening in the industry so no worries.
      I may agree there maaaay be a bit too much, too much to a point where i dont blame folks for sticking to more of the mainstream systems like 5e or pf2e due to choice paralysis.

    Hey Deborah! I haven’t posted in a while but I came across the Mythic DM app. Have you had a look at it yet? I started to purchase it but stopped myself and thought that you probably had thoughts about it already and may have a video for it. I didn’t know it was a thing. Looks interesting.
    Anyway, all the best.
    Back to the shadows 😊

      Hey there. Good to hear from you. I’ve never really used Mythic so haven’t looked at the app. Didn’t know there was one even. As I don’t like apps when gaming I’m unlikely to download it so therefore unlikely to form an opinion. :)

    Wait, you teased us with a game you played using FORGE, Cess & Citadel, and Adventrue Realms but there's no gameplay? That's what I wanted to see. You did do a feature video for Cess & Citadel. It was posted on 11/28/2023.

    Hi, do you think running a full party solo would be necessary for this or could you do one character?

    • @GeekGamers01
      @GeekGamers01  Рік тому +2

      If you are willing to buff up a character or adjust enemy stats you could run one. I ran two in my sample sessions and it was fine.

    The only player race available is human?

    • @GeekGamers01
      @GeekGamers01  Рік тому +2

      Player races are not specified with different stats but the assumptions in the name listing is that you could be a human, halfling, gnome, elf, dwarf, giants, and others. It is open-ended as to how you would adjust stats for the various races, but you easily could.
