I recently inherited my dads 2003 Lesabre Custom which he bought new. It’s been a garage Queen all it’s life and only has 54k on it! I never really paid much attention to the car when he owned it, but after driving it a while, “I get it”. Like you say... super smooth (floats down the road) very quiet, and quite predictable to drive (brakes and steering). Anyone can hop right into one of these and feel comfortable immediately. I also hear that they have a bullet proof engine and trans. 👍

Dude, so right. I had a 2001 LeSabre and it was so damn smooth and fun to drive. Felt like driving a yacht. Not for those who love sporty handling but comfort, this thing floats

Left turn signal going fast means you have a bulb out. Check your blinkers.
I have my Grandma's 00' Lesabre Limited that she bought new in 99'. 140k Miles, I wanted to get rid of it for the longest time but I've gained a serious affection for the car recently. The 3800 series engine is rock solid. Just replaced the peeling dash with a new riveted one out of a junker, and am about to do the intake manifold gasket. I plan to keep her for at least another 60k miles.

    • @timo3683
      @timo3683 2 роки тому +1

You got photos of what you did to the dash? The major flaw to our car smh.

    • @mynamehappy
      @mynamehappy 2 роки тому +1

@@timo3683 I wish I'd taken pictures of the process. The peeling dash is an extremely common problem with our generation of Lesabre. I'm honestly surprised GM didn't get sued over it, but I guess the problem took long enough to manifest that it was a moot point by then. As far as I can tell the problem comes from exposure to the sun, my car has spent its entire life parked outside in the Florida heat and by the time I replaced the dash it had gotten BAD. The entire passenger side was peeled up and shrunk on all 3 sides. The only way to fix it is to replace it, because the pad shrinks as it peels making it impossible to fit back into the original configuration. What you need to do is keep an eye on your local junkyards for cars with a good dash. LKQ is great because they usually post pictures of their inventory online and you can tell looking straight a the windshield how bad the dash has gotten. I took me about 3-4 months of constantly watching the inventory of the yards in my state to find a dash that was in good shape and that matched my interior color. Had to drive from Tampa to Orlando to get it too.
After I pulled it I took a pop rivet tool and riveted the entire top of the pad down to the plastic base to hopefully avoid the problem manifesting for the rest of the life of the car.
Check out this video, the guy rambles and bullshits quite a bit but its basically the same process I used for mine.

@@mynamehappy Just bought a 2003 Limited. Looks like it was garage kept, now it will be out in the sun. I bought a sunscreen as I live in SC and it's hot. Do you think that will be enough to keep the dash ok?

@@joanallen5253 A windshield sun screen is definitely a good idea if you're going to be parking it outside.

1Had the 2000 limited and that car was a great highway cruiser with decent gas mileage, and quality parts are dirt cheap at Rockauto. Awesome car. When I purchased it in 2014 for $500, it had 125K and needed 4 tires, the twighlight sensor, intake plenum gasket with update, cat, OX 2 sensors, one climate control gear, both rear air shocks, rad cap and a headliner fix. Total parts $710 with shipping.
After a total of 15 hours work, that thing ran and rode like a dream and the ABS was amazing in the rain or snow. I lived in rural NC, so cruising at 80mph was the norm. Drove it trouble free until I sold it in 2019 for $2,600. I'm looking to get another, perhaps a 2004 or 5.

BTW, that check charge light is the voltage sensing wire. Really easy and cheap to fix. 20 minutes and $1 for the 5 foot sensing common wire coming off the alternator to the ECU inside the airbox.

I had a 2005 Buick Lesabre Custom with the 3.8L. It was the best car. I ever owned. I wish I would never have sold it when it hit 200,000 miles. It got 27-28 mpg. The only money I ever stuck into it was at 175,000 miles the blower motor in the cab went out ($110) and the cord for the engine block heater went bad ($30).

Where can I get some chrome fender flares like this? I bought an 02 LeSabre Limited and it had a lot of rust (live in Minnesota) but the inside was perfect. The last 4 months I have put around $1500 or so into it and it's in great shape. Got all the rust off and painted it matching the original color light bronzomist. Did the rear struts and kept the air ride with some new KYB struts and just yesterday did the front with the Monroe quick struts. Found out my away bar link was broken and replaced that while doing the struts. Ordered a custom intake specifically for the LeSabre after I got a new cat converter and muffler. Has a nice growl to it now but nothing too loud. Definitely made the acceleration more sensitive and gained some power but nothing crazy. Just ordered the 99 Riviera chrome rims that also fits the LeSabre. 16 x 6.5 chrome 7 spoke. I have been ordering on eBay and finally found the last rim I needed for a complete set so I should have those on by the weekend. But the last thing I want to do is the tinted windows and fender flares. Sorry for the long message but thought maybe someone would be interested in the Buick family to my specific custom jobs... I'm also looking for a new center console like the park ave ultra woodgrain center console. But I would probably to have that built just for the lesabre. Anyway if you could let me know of a good place for the fender flares I would appreciate it. Thank you!

00-05 Lesabres are bullet proof. You can easily get 300K-400K out of them! I have one as well as an Audi A6, but I have a long commute so the Lesabre is my main work horse.

Ive owned not 1, not 2, but 3 Buicks with these Bulletproof Engines!!!
    1st - 09 Buick Lacrosse CXL
    2nd - 08 Buick Lacrosse CX
    And Now,
    03 Buick Lesabre Custom
They really are The Best car you can buy now adays
    For around 4Gs and Under
    Best!! ❤
    And They Glide Everywhere!!!
    These are literally
    Couches with a V6!!!
And i prefer the older Buicks
    For the Engines (Mainly)
    But also because
The wide G bodys they have!!!
    These damn things are Tanks,!!!
I dont like the new buicks because the engines suck compared to the 3800s. And because the new buicks are smaller/compact.
They really are worth every dollar!!! ❤
    And Its Paid for!!!
To bad the Lesabre ended in 2005, but i got 1
And mines officially is an antique!
20 years old and only 100,000 OD
YALL BETTER HURRY, THESE ARE HOT CAKES AGAIN!!!
