WADING The BEACH For BARRACUDAS - Inshore Fishing - Trinidad & Tobago, Caribbean
With my new goal of targeting bigger fish, my first mission was to go after Barracudas for the first time ever! Armed with 5 inch hard baits and tubes, I set out on a solo mission wading the shoreline.
It took about 30 mins and over a 100 casts before I finally hooked a fish! Overall, I fished for close to two hours, making hundreds of casts, with only the one success...
Walking back, tired and in a bit of pain, I tied on the tube and that proved to be the difference!

What kind of distance you got with the tube?
I got some decent distance....Maybe 25 to 30 yards max...But I wasn't really try to launch it...It is quite heavy, but very bulky..

Thank you Sir! It was a beautiful one indeed! Good size too eat...But I always prefer to catch and release...Especially my first in a spot! Ciguatera isn't a big problem in our waters....As you go higher up the Caribbean chain it is more prevalent!

It all depends on where and what type of fish...But generally early morning and late evening is when I think is the best!

@@KoSMTT There are a LOT of stingray along that stretch of beach. Have seen them to over 50 / 60lb. Think they are attracted by the fish waste that the fishing boats dump in the shallows. Also had bonefish and tarpon a bit further along ... but oddly, never a snook.

You can use mono or braid, you also need to use a wire leader so they don't cut you off.
Anil Jadoo it was braid to fluoro leader I believe and The hooks on the tube are attached to a wire on the inside
Hey bro...Anytime we use braid, we always use a mono or fluoro leader....Not a big fan of wire. But the Cuda Tubes come with a long length of heavy duty wire...It automatically gives you about a 4 to 5 inch wire leader...

Rod : any length, power rating 2lbs - 6lbs
reel : 500 or 1000
line : 2lbs-6lbs mono @ braid
leader : max 12lbs fluoro
any size that suitable... Good luck and have fun...

But I always take maximum precautions anywhere I go and in anything I do...It was a remote area...But at the same time, the only thing to really fear there is the wildlife and getting an injury...Hence I was being extra careful....Appreciate your sentiments and will always have them in mind!
