    Do you have any issues with eye strain with this monitor? I ended up returning my MAG 271QPX today. It makes me sad because it was the most beautiful monitor I've ever used. Amazing colors, black levels, motion clarity, refresh rate and responsiveness. But anytime I would use the monitor for more that half an hour, my eyes would start to get so unbelievably fatigued. Been using the monitor nearly every day for about a month and the eye strain just kept getting worse and worse, and it's felt like the eye strain has been hurting my vision even outside of using the monitor. Unlike any sort of eye strain that I've experienced before. I switched back to my LG-GP850 IPS monitor today, and I can instantly tell that the eye strain issues aren't there. I was just curious if you had any opinion / input about this.

      That's a bummer, and I am sorry to hear that. I did notice a little eye strain, which is why I decided to decrease the brightness in sdr mode and also in gaming settings. I chalk it up to me getting old. I'm 47, and my eyes are definitely more sensitive than they used to be. I wish I included this in my video because I am sure there are many people in this situation than i might expect. Maybe people will see this comment and can be better informed of this possibility. Perhaps I'll do a follow-up video and cover this topic. At the end of the day, I think you did the right thing. If it bothered you that much, you are better off with the LG. Thanks for watching, and I appreciate the support. Cheers!

      Seen user's of gen 3 panels (32"4k240, 27"qhd360) had eyestrain, but not on gen 1 qd-oled (34"qhd175).
      Maybe it has something to do with coating, because PWM behaviour is the same between all of them.

    • @Slyclientthetechdad
      @Slyclientthetechdad  4 місяці тому

      @4ikibrikivdamk3 I'll have to keep my eye on that. Just finished a long session. Not sure if it was from this post but my eyes definitely feel a bit he tired. Not sure if it is more than normal, but something to think about. I have a first gen qd oled. I may do a test to see if there is a difference.

      @@Slyclientthetechdad i had eyestrain even from normal IPS monitor, so before blaming monitor, is better to optimise lighting conditions.
      Eyes don't like bright monitor, and complete darkness behind it, eyes don't like high contrast in dark room. So optimise lighting conditions in room to make back of the screen same brightness as monitor.
      PWM - interestingly it shows itself the most in dimmer brightness level - meaning higher the brightness, less PWM, less eyestrain.

    Worried about burn-in? Make the desktop taskbar auto-hide, set your wallpaper to be a dark animated screensaver-type background using programs like "wallpaper engine" (On steam) or "lively wallpaper" (in microsoft store), and set your PC to turn off the display after 20-30 minutes of inactivity.
    Should help ya feel a bit safer to own an oled. :)

    Great video dude. I've got this monitor right now and I love it though I do prefer the 4K 32-inch model because I'm a ggraphics snob when it comes to gaming 🤣 And don't worry about the video quality, I'm also starting out in UA-cam with my iPhone and so I know the struggle. But you're already doing so much better than me so keep going

      Hey thanks for watching. Does you can fefinitly hook an asus rog ally up to this monitor. You will need a docking station to do so to connect the Ally via usbc to the dock. From the dock you can connect an hdmi cable to the monitor. That's really all you need. JSAUX makes some really good ones designed to work with the Ally. You should check them out their website

    Having said that, nice video! First time seeing one, very enjoyable, gotta show love to us old timers lol.
    I've been thinking about getting this MSI, current set up I'm using an LG 27' OLEd 240hz and an Alienware curved oled 32 inch 240hz, but a 27inch 360hz for sweaty FPS shooters sounds delicious tho lol. Ugh.

    What makes this the best 27 inch 1440p QD-OLED monitor money can buy, compared to the other brands? The Gigabyte, Asus, Alienware, LG variants?

    • @Slyclientthetechdad
      @Slyclientthetechdad  3 місяці тому

      They all use a similar screen. However, the thing that separates this one is the KVM switch, 90W power supply ports for charging your laptop or phone while the monitor is turned on. But I think the biggest separation is HDMI 2.1 ports. It supports full hdmi 2.1 capabilities for conne ting an Xbox and ps5 at full bandwidth. Many of the others you mentioned do not have these things.

      Hey, thanks for watching. Yes, I do that all the time. When I do it, it looks so good on this display, and the immersion is fantastic in single-player games. Sure, we all know 4k is more detailed in the structure of the picture, but this Qled Panel definitely makes up for it. It just pops off the screen. If someone were on a budget and couldn't buy a 4k model, this MSI is no slouch.

      I appreciate the response.. I have a 4k MSI IPS monitor but want to upgrade to a qd oled but also was thinking about a 1440p which I know would be amazing for competitive but was concerned on whether or not it would be a perfect balance for the best of both worlds for single player games too.. BTW did u have it upscaled to 4k in this particular video?

      @@504Trey Oh no problem at all man. I can chat about this stuff all day. LoL this video was filmed in 4k but all the gaming was set in game to 2560 x 1440. Still looks great right? That's why I've been blown away. In my opinion, I think this is definitly an option for you especially since you already have a 4k display, which I'm sure is still great. You could get a QD-OLED, enjoy all the benefits of the Oled experience, then, if you're like me, upgrade the 4k in a couple years. LoL However, if you can't wait, you can always go right for one of the 4k QD Oleds I don't think you need to. To be honest, I use it everyday, and the only time I think about it is either when I get question about it, or a friend brings it up. QD Oled no matter what the resolution is sick!!! Plus, not sure what system you are running it on but it's much easier to drive depending on your video card or console

      I have a 4080 Super so gaming at 1440p native would be great when I'm playing competitive shooter games to take as much advantage of those 360 hz as possible & then when I play single player campaign story games I would plan to upscale it to 4k & downsampled to 1440p.. I may give that a shot.. U gave me the most feedback than I could get from any other channel so I can make my decision.. I know the bigger the channels are the harder it is to give a response to everybody though but some channels have less subs than u & still don't answer people lol.. What’s the reason you choose the msi over the Alienware oled 360hz?

    • @Slyclientthetechdad
      @Slyclientthetechdad  3 місяці тому

      The deciding factor was this monitor full bandwith hdmi 2.1 ports. Unfortunately, through my research, the Alienware model does not. It's advertised that way, but some other reviewers have done testing that proves it is not. I also liked that it had a KVM switch. Being able to use the monitor with multiple devices by just hitting one setting was huge for me. Are you planning on buying one? Both panels are basically the same. Just a few features that vary differently. You can't go wrong either way.

      Thanks for chiming in. The Tech is definitely still in the early stages. If you are someone who prefers a prefers finished complete tech, I wouldn't get OLED. Although there are ways and best practices to minimize issue, burn in can still happen. I've owned them long enough to feel confident that it won't happen to me based in use case. But for someone like you who most likely would prefer it not be an issue, I would avoid it. You will just drive yourself crazy worrying about it all the time. I have heard the same but I find it not to be be very noticeable. When playing story driven games I could care less. Competitive games are a different story. I have been playing a lot of Xdefinant and can't notice it there either. I don't have proper equipment to test it but to the naked eye, I don't see it as an issue. Keep in mind that there could be new firmware updates to this monitor as well. On of the biggest benifits it has over the MAG version. If there are issues, they could very well be resolved in future updates.
