    It's my favorite beer. Tried all others, and this seems to do the job. Very clean, smooth and refreshing. It makes the effects better than other beers. I could drink this beer every day 🍺

    If we can compare beers to cars, it's what I would call a nice daily driver. Nothing fancy, but she's reliable and will get you there 😂 Love PBR.

      That's a great comparison! This is a nice everyday drinker. It's going to get the job done and always be consistent, but it's never going to be the best beer. That said, beers like this have their place and time, and I appreciate that. Thanks for the comment, Brod!

      Yup. Lots O Memories with this brew .
      Bud too.
      We beer drinkers are suckers for nostalgia, and classic cardboard coasters.
      And antique name brand can openers.
      Time for a platter of cheese and crackers, bread and butter chips, Beer Nuts and a few PBR's.

      No doubt, Drifterman! The nostalgic beers for me are Genny Cream Ale and Rolling Rock, as those are two beers I had quite a few times back in the day. Genny Cream Ale is still my go-to cheaper beer nowadays. Always a time and place for it, haha! Thanks for the comment, man!
      Cheers!

    You cannot beat the price point on this. Haha. When I’m eating out and this is on tap I always get it. This just brings back memories of my youth when my stepdad and grandfather pounded this stuff when we went camping. Thanks for reviewing this. Cheers Bro!

      No doubt, Jay. if this is on tap, I'm selecting it over most mainstream American Adjunct Lagers. Just tastes better to me. Not sure it'd 100% make my top-five, but it'd be fun to try and figure out, haha! Thanks, buddy!
      Cheers!

    As for American adjunct lagers it’s Narragansett, Miller High Life, PBR, then Coors Banquet for me!

      That is a great list! I think I'd add Hamm's if I get get it regularly, for sure.

    My older brothers go to beer, one of the first I ever enjoyed after stealing several of his haha. He would get very pissed. Now whenever I see him I get him a 12 pack of PBR. I'm sort of a beer snob now but it holds a special place in my heart above all other cheap American Lagers.

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  Рік тому +1

      LOL! As a cheap crusher, I would've been upset if my younger brother stole some of mine, haha! It's awesome you're into craft beer, but much like you, beers like this still have a time and place. This is definitely one of my favorite cheap lagers, for sure. Thanks for the comment, man!
      Cheers!

    I love PBR! Great value for the money! I’m not saying it’s the best beer in the world but it definitely does the job when I’m wanting to save some money. $6 a 6 pack for the big cans if if buying at Walgreens or Walmart! Good value!

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  Рік тому

      Totally agree, Cole. There's a time and place for every beer, and PBR is one of those cheap crushers that is damn good for what it is. I have about five or six beers I'd throw in that category, and PBR is definitely in there.
      Cheers, man!

    I like Pabst Blue Ribbon, and it is a strong seller, in Louisiana. I think it's one of best AALs, with Schlitz being the very best one.

    • @averagejoe716

      We don't get Schlitz here, so I can't speak on that, but this is definitely in my top-seven, and maybe even top-five.

    It has to be ice cold. Grew up on this stuff in the late 70s-80s.

      I don't prefer my beers ice cold, but I can't disagree with you that this would go down nicely being right out of the fridge. Definitely a refreshing beer!

      Thanks, Josh! Yeah, I think it'd be absolutely fantastic if I could gather my top-ten favorite American Adjunct Lagers and do a blind taste test to figure out what I like. It'd take a lot of effort, but it might be something I do down the line. Could be fun!
      Cheers, dude!

    Had a beer review guide many many years ago of a guy who tried over a thousand beers worldwide, he rated PBR a "good cheese and cracker beer" at about 2.8 out of 5. But his rating for American adjunct lagers was highest at 3.1 I believe for Strohs.
    Used to drink Strohs fairly often. The 30 packs were inexpensive. But was disappointed when they discontinued the fire brewing process. Don't know now if it tastes like what it did in the '90s or the '80s.
    Hard to say. Had it a couple years ago for the first time in many years and I don't think it was as good. I surely miss Olympia too.

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  2 роки тому +1

      I actually chuckled at the guide's scoring system, as I'm somewhat similar. I don't think I've given an American Adjunct Lager over a 3.75/5, but I rate beers to my personal preference and not to style. I always try to stress that a 3.75/5 for me is probably a 4.75/5 for someone who loves the style. It's just not a style I love, but there's nothing wrong with that.
      What I really enjoy about AALs are the regional offerings that so many areas have. We've never seen Olympia here in Buffalo, NY, but we have Genesee Cream Ale, which is a staple in Western New York. I always say there's a time and place for every single beer, and it still holds true for me to this day. Nothing wrong with a cheaper, low-abv lager. There are too many snobs out there that don't get that. I say drink what you like, and let everyone else do the same.
      I appreciate the comments, dude.
      Cheers!

      It's just called Genesee Honey Brown now, and it was the first beer I reviewed when I brought back the channel in October. They most definitely still make it, just got rid of the Dundee brand, as far as I know.

      Yeah, I tend to pour a little less aggressive, as a whole, because I mostly drink craft, and the carbonation can be a bit much, haha! I always forget with beers like this, it's typically dialed-in, so I can usually go a bit harder.

    Top five AALs : Grain Belt Premium, Hamm’s, Miller High Life, Coors Banquet, and Old Milwaukee. (Honorable mentions to PBR, Old Style, Leininkugels). Always a treat if I can find these on draft. I really enjoy the history and regionalism of these types of beers. Prost!🍻

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  2 роки тому

      I've never had Grain Belt, but heard good things. That's a pretty good top-five overall. Never been a huge Old Milwaukee fan, but it's been years since I've had it, so maybe it's another one I need to revisit. We don't get Grain Belt, Old Style or Leinenkugel's in my area, but those would be fun to try down the line. I agree about the history and regionalism, for sure.
      Cheers, Dan!

    Cool story, about your macro tasting. Not that i like paying postage, but i pictured sending you a box of light lagers(Whodunit's), USA Macro/Craft, Euro Macro/Craft ect..ect..But now that i know, you can pick Pabst, from the line up, i dont care anymore, cool....if i lived next door to you would have had 3 cases, of Whodunit reviews...held at gunpoint, to get them done faster.

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  2 роки тому

      I think a blind taste testing of AALs, in general, would be fun to watch ... and not so much to drink, haha! Well, I'm glad that I don't live next door to you. I'd appreciate the free beer, but only at my own pace, LOL!
      Cheers!

    It’s funny how out of your top 5 American Macros 4 out of 5 are brewed by MillerCoors (high life, PBR, Coors banquet, and hamms) and none of them are brewed by Anhueser Busch. Miller knows how to brew fantastic beer, while Anhueser Busch sucks at beer making….all they know how to do is make consistently flavorless beer.

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  11 місяців тому +1

      I never thought about that, but my preference definitely leans MillerCoors. I've never been a fan of Budweiser or Bud Light, in general. Interesting thought, for sure. Thanks for the comment!

      @@averagejoe716 TY! Yeah its a point of pride for me being from San Antonio myself. With the latest budweiser controversy i found the need to research which beers are brewed where and by whom. In researching Pabst i discovered that they are head quartered in my home town. The Lone Star brewery is there and pabst set up shop there at that brewery when they bought the brand.
      A little FYI...the lone star brewery was once the Pearl Brewery. Its a now defunct brand but my family used to drink it proudly at gatherings

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  Рік тому +1

      It's truly amazing how many regional beers are throughout the US. The history of a lot of the breweries are deep, as well. Never even knew that Lone Star was original Pearl. Cool stuff!

  • @ReigningOnYourParade
    @ReigningOnYourParade 2 роки тому +1

    Pabst is number one, for me. I can drink, Genny Cream Ale, MGD (although havent had for mega years), and MHL is drinkable, but way to much corn. Way to much macro slime in like all Bud, and Coors products. It makes me want to spit...must be all the poison.

    • @ReigningOnYourParade
      @ReigningOnYourParade 2 роки тому +1

      And Hamms as well, even though i liked the extra sweet malt, it was poison. And the AI erased, my comment on your recent Hamms review, i believe...Cheers

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  2 роки тому

      Yeah, Pabst would be up there along with Genny Cream Ale and Miller High Life. Hamm's is up there, too. I think a true top-five would be hard for me to figure out. The UA-cam AI deletes all kinds of comments that I can read the preview, but then it deletes 'em. No idea why. Wish I had the ability to look at them myself and deem them worthy or not. Oh, well.
      Cheers!
