Hello friends!
Welcome to the kickoff of a HUGE new diamond painting project! Today we're kitting up 197 colors - yep, one hundred ninety seven! I recently unboxed this rainbow beauty, "Outside the Sweet Shop," a new kit release from Diamond Art Studio UK and artist Helkoryo, and your response was AMAZING. I wanted to kit it up right away, and also bring you along for the ride as I talk through my approach to working on a project at such a large scale. I hope this bit of a tutorial is helpful!
This kit is pending restock as of the time of this filming. It sold out exponentially more quickly than this small shop was anticipating! Be sure to follow the shop on social media to stay up-to-date with restock dates and new releases.

I kit up large paintings by dmc. It’s a whole lot easier. When working on the painting I have no problems searching for the symbols as it becomes muscle memory after a short space of time. It also helps in kittting down afterwards. If you haven’t tried give it a go and let me know what you think. I find it saves all the stress as to deciding what symbols go in what group etc. I’m a firm believer of K.I.S.S 😂 and I tell myself this often, Keep It Simple Stupid 😊
Hey I have 2 questions. When you're done with a painting, do you just peel off all the labels and empty the containers? And what do you do with the leftover gems?
@@marysbeauty2714 Most people will kit down. Just search on UA-cam for kitting down videos they will hell you see what other people do. I have boxes which are sectioned off and I decant the containers into their labelled bags and keep them for those diamond paintings that have run out but the best thing is to get a cross stitch pattern and do a cross stitch conversion with the spares. That is great fun. Everybody has their own way of what they do with the leftovers.
197 colours, wow!! I just bought one with 77 colours and I'm terrified of it so I can't imagine tackling a kit that large. I tend to do one colour at a time so I think I'd drive myself nuts, lol.
Hi Katie! I love that you showed us your process. Cannot wait to see your progress on this one. The colors in that canvas are GORGEOUS
Loved your kit up! I would love to see the high color painting worked on during one of your WIP n chats. I'd love to see some of it come of it together.
This canvas is amazing!
Wow! I LOVE LOVE ❤❤ those kinds of challenges! That is going to be so pretty!
Richard
That canvas is beautiful I was intrigued the first time you showed it. I can’t wait to see more progress! Love your nails as always
Oh, I went back to your channel and found a video from October 2022 that showed diamond sealing. Thanks so much.
Thank you so very much for sharing the kitting up of this kit !! I am going to change how I kit up by arraigning by color instead of symbol. And yes!! I may watch this again just for ASMR LOL. It was so calming to watch the process and the end product. I have a hard enough time with what you would consider a smaller than snack size. I could not even imagine trying to tackle this project. BUT!! I am so excited to share your journey with you!! ❤❤
So excited to see you work on this project! I would love to see check in videos as you work on this. Maybe even an updated tutorial for how you work on large kits? Best of luck with this!
I think sorting it by color is a good idea. If you need a blue you will know exactly where to look & have a smaller area to search for the symbol. Thanks for sharing with us!
Hi Katie…..I can’t wait to see your progress on this huge canvas. Big projects intimidate me by the sheer size!
Thank you for sharing, Katie! Those colors look so pretty organized like that! I am very curious to see how it works out for you. Can't wait for an update! Hope you have a great weekend!
Katie, I can’t imagine how you put these together! But you make sense. I’m on my first diamond painting. It’s of a gnome with daisies. I’m so glad I found your channel! The biggest aggravating problem is that the round diamonds always end up upside down. I use my jewel picker to place the diamonds. So tedious, but I just do a few squares that I have taped off with washi.
do you know that you need to shake your tray with the diamonds? That will line them up, and they should turn right side up. Katie does have a beginners video with a lot of great suggestions.
Love hearing you problem solve and think through the process. I was very interested to see the flexibility of the EW containers. The color strategy seems like a good one. I'll be interested to see how or if it evolves.
You have such a joyful sound when you talk about your channel, the diamond paintings you are working on, your tutorials, etc. your joy is contagious. Right now I’m working my way through your videos. I find I don’t want to miss anything you have to teach. Even though I consider myself to be a newcomer (I think I’ve done a max of 10-15 paintings) I find that I want to do more and more after watching your videos. There are other diamond painters you would recommend I watching I would appreciate the info. I find that I have tendency to click on too many. Channels. KEEP UP YOUR GOOD WORK AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU.💅
I actually use both container systems and I kit up the same ways as you depending on the canvas I'm working on. Sometimes I organize by color and sometimes by symbols. I intend to order this kit when it comes back in stock so I know to get some more Elizabeth Ward's. I can't wait!!!! Great video and thanks so much! This is gonna be a huge help to me!!!
Hi Katie!!
I love kitting up diamond paintings
Love those EW containers. I am aspiring to do a large piece like this or possibly a x-stitch conversion. Enjoyed watching your process 💖💎
I always sort mine in the tube case by dmc color. This way I can always use the same bottles. If I run out or need more of that color, I open iPad new bag and dump it it. I use a different volot tound sticker on top for tube's I have multiple of. I keep the doubles of the tube color in a separate case which use first. Makes switching pictures a quick and easy process.
You are amazing. The biggest dpi have right now is 40x85 and I'm loving it. I'm also thinking about buying the Elizabeth ward containers too.
And I thought my 76 colors were a lot this is amazing!
I was so excited to see this! I can’t wait to see your progress. While I liked the other high color kits you did, this one perks my interest and I almost think it’d be a fabulous winter project that I could dive into during the blah months!
This was so satisfying to watch❤. I was stressed about my 74 color beach scene, now i know what to do. If i have the courage to get this 197 color canvas, i will know what to do as well.
OOooOooo SO satisfying watching you kit up! Love seeing the rainbow 🌈
Great video. The colours look so incredibly beautiful arranged in the trays. I don't think I would be able to do a large painting this way but am curious to see how you make out. I arranged my DPDL painting by symbols and it worked out fine for me . After just 2 sittings diamond painting, my muscle memory kicked in and I knew exactly what tray to go to for the next symbol. I too used Elizabeth Ward trays. Would love to see future videos and updates on your progress on this one.
Hey Katie! Thank you for sharing this video. One day, I want to do a kit with over 100 colors. So excited to see your progress!
Hello! Enjoyed watching you kit this project. The colors are absolutely beautiful!!! I will definitely watch your wip n chat and see how this works out for you!! Take care! 😊
Hi Katie, I am impressed with your organizational skills. I would do this backwards and probably regret it. I would work a sections and pour the drills out of the bag onto the tray and when I was done, I would put the drills in a container.
That's a LOT of colors. It would be too overwhelming for me. The Elizabeth Ward trays were the practical choice. I'm on the fence about getting one but it's on my wish list.
Great kitting up methods for sure. I have a large kit coming and watching you kit up makes it easier. I ordered Elizabeth ward containers because of you. Thank you for your videos and chats.
Ty for sharing Katie. I’ll be anxious to hear the updates. I’m curious to even know logistically how you manage your space and placing all the tray holders, canvas and accessories to make them accessible yet not covering the canvas. I’d love to see a picture of that set-up.
I love the way you organized the colors. So many beautiful beight colors cant wait to see you work on this. ❤Thanks for sharing❤
Girl, I don’t know how you do it! This is going to be an amazing project and I can’t wait to see how you do with it!
This is amazing. So many colours.
I am glad you kitted this up this way also! You sold me on the Elizabeth Ward system also. I am dying to see your Josephine Walls videos next. Glad you are feeling better too Katie! ❤
I agree @Katie, I LOVE the Elizabeth Ward storage as well! Works the best for me. And I go in numerical order, it’s only way to OCD nature to make sense for me. Good luck! I hope this works out well for you!
I would love to try a kit like this. I would need way more storage than what I have, which is a single suitcase-style storage system like the one you showed. Mine only has the bottom section. I also don't have much space to work with. At the moment, I have a 17.7" x 24.1" canvas that I am working on and have it taped (carefully!) to a large board so that it won't slide around the (small) table while I'm working on it. 44,000 drills and I am about 1 month in, and halfway. Now, I received a huge custom kit for Christmas that has 115,000 drills. I am still a beginner. I *do* want to tackle it but am unsure how to start since I don't have a work area large enough. The canvas, I am unsure of the measurements, is massive. Easily four times the size of the one I have now. Any tips for how I can work on that one when I don't have much room to work? I basically have something the size of half a round table to work with.
I have learnt so much about kitting up thank you
Ooh, I do like a time-lapse video, thank you! 🤗 I'd like to see you section this one off, tbh, if it's not too late 😊👍🏼
Hi Katie, I kit-up either number, symbol, alphabet. Most the time I go numbers. Like one, two , three, etc. Turns out the DMC codes are also in order. This time to kit-up Café Terrance at Night, I will be using Craft Mates. I will either like this method, or I will have an anxiety and panic attack reach 8.5 on the Richtee scale.
I purchased from AMAZON PRIME three Elizabeth Ward containers. They were a bit on the expensive side. I ordered another one from Ali Express for half the price.
Love the demonstration video.
Hi katie x thank you so much for this how to video. I have this kit and had already decided i was using this storage system. I will be putting them in DMC order as that is the bedt way for me. I think im going to start on 1st of January so will kit up between Christmas and New Year. I have had static really bad in the kit im working on at the moment but only on a few colours but one they were like jumping beans lol still are. Not many of them but boy they are like the nauty bunch lol drier sheets i think there is 5 squares now 😂. Again Thank You Katie x ellie x
Organizing by symbol is the best for me. I don’t have to think so hard because I have my categories memorized. Makes for fast location of any symbol. I have completed 3 max colors so far. Can’t wait to see how this one turns out.
Hi Katie thanks for all the tips! My sister gave me my first diamond Painting...she had no idea what she was starting...I am obsessed...I love it. Can you post a video of you actually working on this canvas on time lapse....and regular time too. Can't wait to hear more. All good wishes for your project!
I have used the method of sorting by color with a couple of my bigger kits and it has worked well for my brain. Knowing what area of colors I need to find instead of looking through a mass of colors for one symbol.
The colors are so beautiful
Hi Katie! Thanks for sharing your kitting up on this DP with us! I will soon be kitting up a new DAC kit I purchased with 73 colors, and I might have to try the organize by color method, like you did. Wish me luck! LOL
Have a great day! 😊
I love seeing the process and knowing even you start and change things up when needed. I have so much static in the kit I’m working and and didn’t even know this trick! LIFE SAVER! 💚
This a beautiful painting ❤
Doing research on this project and it looks like an overwhelming amount of work.
It's definitely a lot of work, and not necessarily for everyone! I hope that if it's something you do decide to take on, that some of my suggestions help it feel less overwhelming! 💛
Katie, I love you so much and what you do is incredible. I LOVE how they're color-coded, it's so aesthetically pleasing! this canvas is going to look amazing!
I think this particular kitting up would be my personal hell tho. haha. Thank you for showing us this.
Beautiful!
Good decision to shift! Plus you can see the colors in the EW containers easier than the suitcase version.
Ez valami gyönyörű!
EW to the rescue.. I would love to complete one like this after I finish nursing school. I just started DAC voyager amd love it. 💎💎❤
Hi Katie,
First, I love your channel 👍🏻.
I’m new to Diamond Painting and I’m still working on my first one. I love this craft and so glad I picked it up.
I’m still getting my grips around the process so when I attempt to eventually do a larger painting I’ll be able to handle it better.
I really love those Elizabeth drill containers. I do have a question for you:
What do most people do with their drill containers once their project is done? Do the stickers peel off? Or are the symbols and color #’s universal? It would seem wasteful and expensive to have a kit(s) that can only be used for one diamond painting. I hope I’m explaining this properly.
I hope to hear from you soon. You have a lot of DP knowledge to share 😊.
Paul
🌴☀️🌴
Hi Katie, I hope sorting by colours will work for you, it does for me no matter how many there are. And don't look your kitted up trays great this way? 😊 I have my Diamond Painting Deutschland round drills in the little suitcases, as they always have the same symbol for the same DMC. I replaced the small containers with extra bigger ones. Works well if you keep the thinner foam sheet in the lower part and only lift out the thicker one. Still takes 4 suitcases to fit them all.
I usually kit up by color and enjoy it. There's only a few exceptions where it doesn't work for me (e.g. my current canvas where a blue square might actually be a gray drill or where a gray square might be brown drill). Will be curious to see if it works for you on this one!
Hope it’s ok to jump on comments! 😁 The background colour is as close to the drill colour as possible, so using that to identify the colour tone required will work for this kit 💜
@@diamondartstudioukltd Yes absolutely! Great to hear! Definitely better than the one I'm currently working on, which is a brand I wouldn't necessarily recommend 😅
Holy cow that thing is so big! How long do you think it will take you to complete?
When you first started in my head I thought hmm I wondered why she didn't pick Elizabeth Ward. That's exactly how I would have kitted it up and organized by color. I think you'll find you made the right decision in the end. 😊
Ill be doing this with my JWall in January. Ive actually thought to split the process up into a few days just to keep my brain from frying LOL
I have always organized by colour, in my mind it's the only thing that makes sense.
Me who works from baggies 👀🤣
Resin drills are more prone to static also. ⚾️
Hi, I was wondering where you bought those square containers with the white case from? 😊
I am just starting out on my journey with Diamond Painting. I have a question on storage of unused diamonds after u finish a project. Do you keep them in a different container if your main container is the active container for project you are currently working on? Also, are the numbers, symbols & colors universal to all kits from different manufacturers?
Do you ever use diamond painting sealer?
Where is the suitcase from to kit up? It has a silky smooth inside. I like that.
Have you made a video how you got on with this set
Do you wear Zox bands? My housemate and I collected them for a few years.
Katie, How easy is it to remove the stickers?
Can i ask what brand Dryer sheet you are using? I have never had any luck with dryer sheets. Ive tried 2 different brands.
Can you still get the little suitcase?? If so where to find it?
How do you work on a larger painting, like this, with limited space? I'm so afraid to work on larger kits because I have limited space.
can u only get that in the uk???
Katie, is the shipping reasonable to purchase from this company?
💜💖💛💚🩵😍
i like slow video please and Thank you next time 😊
🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈
What is washi?
It's a little bit like masking or painters tape, but prettier. It's a decorative tape that you can use on paper and other surfaces and you can remove it without damaging the paper/other surfaces. People use it in diamond painting for labels and marking sections, among other things :)
i dont like the time lapse sorry
