I know! The last 3 years with the bulls MJ got his 30 and crushed the opponent by the 3rd quarter. He would've averaged 40 during those years if he stayed in during garbage time
He injured his back in 1985... Won MVP....84 85 86. Broke his right index finger playing baseball in college.... said he never had the same feel for the basketball after that... wrap your mind around that... double Achilles surgery on both feet...came back the next year and still dominated.....🏀🐐..
@@TheRealMindCrime you should watch a couple videos on his playing too. I will look for a couple videos I watched on his playing in the Olympics. One I think is called magic and bird dropping dimes in the Olympics
My top 3 in this order: Jordan, Bird, Kobe. The ONLY reason J put Bird over Kobe is because he would tell his opponent what he was going to do, that they couldn’t stop him, then he’d do it
Fun fact bird also has the second highest score in 3 point contest history until they added 4 extra money balls and two 3 point balls something people don't think about when comparing the scores to older scores in the 3 point contest
@TheRealMindCrime if you do the math and minus points to account for the extra points both curry and Tyrese Haliburtons 31 point rounds = 22 according to Wikipedia which is what birds high score is for a round to be fair there are newer players with rounds that had more than 22 after the Wikipedia math but still that's pretty impressive for a "plumber"
@@TheRealMindCrime he actually stopped because he missed an entire season with double heel surgery. After he missed the chance to defend the crown, he just never entered again. So bird was 3/3 in three point contests. Never defeated. Didn't even take off his warm-up jacket for the last two.
MJ is my all time favorite and, imo, the goat. His sheer will/ determination I simply don't believe can be beaten. Larry Legend is severely underrated. I couldn't argue him being the best all around ever
Larry athleticism so underrated it’s insane. But his impact speaks for itself. Anyone putting Kobe above him (overall; not athletically) is still in their feelings.
It’s understated a rarely mentioned that it’s more difficult to average 40% from 3 when your shooting 2 a game with an incredible usage rate, and some dumb percentage of the threes taken are in clutch time… and he’s the guy the other coaches are making defensive schemes for. Love me some legend if I was 5 years older he would probably be my favorite all time player.
Been watching Arnett for a couple years now. Just discovered your channel recently. Dope to see you react to his work. He does in fact have the best intro haha. You, Arnett, Skap (my favorite shit talker in NBA youtube) and a couple others are keeping sanity alive. Good stuff.
Thank you so much Space! Putting me in the same sentence as those other guys is an honor. I'm the newbie around here still trying to figure it out lol. Thanks Space
Great video my dude! Larry is my all time #2 behind Jordan. Some people think I’m nuts when I say that. But if you care about the COMPLETE game of basketball. The fundamentals and every aspect of the game. The real game… not the flashy nonsense and dunking and cool shoes and who’s dating a kardashian… but the all around ins and outs of the game… Larry should be without question in your top 5. Or you really don’t know what you’re talking about. He should be one of the first players you think of if asked the question “if you were the owner of a team, who in history would you pick to start your team with?” Red Aurbach said Larry Bird…and that man coached Bill Russell who has 11 rings.
Man, I respect it! Its sad his legacy isn't being remembered properly. Was debatjng with a younger friend of mine. He has no idea Bird is a good passer. He just sees highlights of him shooting.
If I got first dibs to pick a team, I'm picking Bird to start with. It's too dangerous to risk the other team getting him. He has the skills to elevate the play of all my subsequent picks. I agree with Red.
Larry Bird is one of the best plays of all time, he is one of the few that yes is one of the true Goats. He played back in a time when the NBA was so full of top players in a far tougher league were defence was still around. He played ball with guys like Magic, MJ, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Charles Barkley, James Worthy, Karl Malone, Hakeem Olajuwon, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and more. These guys were so good, well known, and the NBA was so hot you could ask none NBA fans to name a few players and they would know at least 5 or more. Today with the League colder then its been since the 70s, and getting worse. Go up to a none NBA fan now, ask them to name just three and one cannot be Lebron, most well draw a blank.
Like you said Best small forward, his stats were impressive and his 3 point shooting and rebounding and passing. He played defense...Great court vision....looking at great small forwards Larry Bird is above the rest as a whole all around player, he was good, he could get a block, rebound, assist, steal....or knock down a 3point shot which seemed like there was no chance it could go in. As an opponent....He could beat you in many different ways....
Bird easily over LBJ. Bird all around peak was out of this world and to make matter worse he tortured his opponents mentally with his unrivalled trash talks! If LBJ goes against Bird, Bird would destroy LBJ mentally until he cries! My all time starting 5 are Magic at PG, MJ at SG, Bird at SF, Duncan at PF, and Kareem at C.
Agreed! Btw we have the same starting 5 but I alternate kareem and shaq at center. Can never decide lol. Both amazing picks. Bird has the 3 spot on lock down.
@@TheRealMindCrime for center, I am firm with Kareem as he is no.2 on my all time list behind only MJ. Because Kareem is all round better than Shaq and he had the unguard-able skyhook plus shot better FT so you cannot just hack him like hack the Shaq tactic! Back to SF, Bird prime anytime any day over anyone easily!
Magic was an average defender- people overinflate their comments about his defense. He wasn’t lockdown, but like you said, he put in effort. He was a good team defender. (Exceptional at EVERYTHING else except threes) Really good reaction vid- I’m so glad to see people giving Bird his flowers. I grew up as a Lakers fan in Southern California back in the 80s before I eventually moved to Seattle and switched to the Sonics (RIP). Bird REGULARLY ruined my day 😆
Lol. Bird torched every city he passed through. I agree though, Magic's only weakness was the 3 ball but he did hit it when he needed to. Similar to Jordan but Jordan shot it more towards the end.
@@TheRealMindCrime something I think people sleep on with magic is his post up and finishing skills. His hook was lethal, and he was excellent at finishing in the lane. He also was great at the line, so you didn’t want to foul him. The all-around games of magic and bird seem to have become lost in modern discourse.
Larry Bird is the greatest SF in NBA history, I personally have him above LeBron James on my all time list also. (LeBron cemented that after these 2024 playoffs)
Larry was the most complete package, but at the same time let's not forget what team he was playing on, To me MJ is so far ahead of everyone else that we shouldn't even talk about him with this other mortals. My top 1 per position SG: Kobe SF: Larry Legend C: Kareem PF: Duncan (Al though i like Malone better, I do feel Duncan gets it cuz the rings) PG: Magic Order for me in like overall GOATs Kareem, Kobe, Larry, Magic, Duncan. This is my top 5 (as I said I don't count Jordan since he's just God, it's not fair) after this I have russel, wilt, shaq, west, robinson (people always ignore him for some reason), curry, Joker if he wins this year, and in this zone from until like 15-16 I have some weird choices that I loved their game but didn't win as much (Malone, KG, Iverson, Stockton) then comes Lebron and this is not hate at all against Lebron, to me playing 21 years is all he has, it is impressive but he has so many bad things that in good conscience I can't put him higher than this, and in reality if you observe every other player I mentioned before him, those players REALLY earned their spots by playing at 100% always, lebron as soon as he left the Cavs the first time became just a meaningless stat padding machine and dropped any effort from his (at that time) very good play.
Agreed. I have Bird as my greatest SF all time easily. Magic at point. MJ at sg. Maybe duncan at pf and shaq at center. Shaq isn't the greatest center all time to me but looking at this team he would dominate with these other guys lol
Whenever I watch on tv or UA-cam goat debate mj or lj it makes me mad and even on these debate someone says what about Kobe and that's good but why stop there. I wish someone in these debates ask the pro lebron to say when and how lebron passed magic, bill Russell Shaq, Kobe , Bird, Dr j, Kareem, Duncan, or Hakeem or wilt. Justify each reason. They are all so focused on mj that they will not anything to justify all of them because they would contradict themselves the whole time... I agree with you Bird is the best but my second and personal favorite is Dr. J so lebron at 3 can't be the goat
😂. far better athlete than you give him credit for... but he had a 9 yr career... so being top 6 is amazing.., but his last 3 yrs where he could barely move bec6of his back.. that's when he proved actually how great he was... still 20 9 and 7 barely. mobile... show me anyone ever do that... it made his greatness even greater
Agreed. He could never jump high or run too fast but he made up for it in a lot of different ways. His brain was working faster than everyone else so he just got it done. That back injury was sad man. He still produced but it was hard to see him laying down on the hardwood whenever he wasn't in the game.
If I had to pick a SF for fantasy to rack up stats for me no matter what team he goes to and winning doesnt matter I may go lebron If I'm a GM picking a player to help MY team win and not run off somewhere else or get me fired I'm picking bird 100%
He actually hurt his back on the off season in 1985. He had double Achilles surgery after his last 3 point contest. He did re injure his back and had back surgery in 1991 then came back and played. You got to watch 4 crazy stories that makes Larry Bird the toughest NBA player. Great video Bird is above Lebron. Lebron is great and he athleticism and longevity over bird, but bird is the more complete player.
He had a congenital issue with his back as well, his spinal canal was too narrow. His intense, physical style of play like throwing himself on the floor after loose balls, etc didn't help his back either.
I got Bird #3 all time, behind Jordan and Kareem. Magic and Kobe won more chips, but Bird did something no one has ever did. He came in and IMMEDIATELY turned his negative win team into a positive win team. And then turned that exact same team into all-stars. The only common denominator is him.
Agreed! Truly...Bird is one of if not the greatest team leader of all time. As a rookie he came in and set the tone and everyone followed him to the promised land.
When Lebron came into the league everyone immediately said he would destroy Magic and Bird because Lebron was ridiculously strong and Bron would destroy Bird and Magic. I never understood that. So your completely ignoring the fact that Bird and Magic won 8 titles combined. And before Lebron even had 1 every one had him ahead of those guys now see its phony push from the league to make Lebron the face of the NBA
Agreed. He was already called King and chosen one at this point. The whole thing just wasn't natural with him. Like we were expected to just love him because the media said so before he ever won anything.
For us lucky enough to actually watch his career know and I’m saying it’s fair to say he’s a top 3 no brainer. Those youngsters watching now are seeing a small glimpse of his greatness
Jumping high is just one part of athleticism, well the most visible other than speed but bird had above average height and agility can't forget stamina I'll say he's a great athlete. Chime in if missing other aspects of athleticism
Looking at the GOATs PG - Magic Johnson SG - Michael Jordan SF - Larry Bird PF - Tim Duncan C - 5 way tie (Bill Russel/Wilt Chamberlain/Kareem Abdul Jabbar/Hakeem Olijawon/Shaquille O'Neal)
@@TheRealMindCrime absolutely. If I were turning that into a starting 5, I'm not sure play wise who would be the best choice but attitude/mentality wise I think Hakeem Olijawon would be the best choice.
I think these guys like Jokic and Luka are making younger fans realize just how good Bird really was. Personally, I think he was a better athlete than he gets credit for, but his IQ and his skills were possibly the best of that era. He had the same mentality that MJ had. He was obsessed with winning.
Yup! That will to win and smarts is deadly in basketball. He couldn't jump high or run too fast but it didn't matter. He was in the right place doing the right things cuz he was smarter than everyone and willing to put his body through hell to win. I'd build a franchise around him any day. Any era.
Lukas game is so one dimensional where Larry Legend could and did kill you in so many different ways , and most of all , he wasn't ball dominant as well as loving to get his teammates into the game where it's just this year where Luka started to differ to his teammates. All he is is step back threes and drives to the lane and kick outs. Highly overrated imo.
It’s because of today’s GOAT conversation that I can no longer participate in it. Today’s GOAT conversation slights and disrespects the legends and stars of the past who paved the way. You just can’t do that. Jonny’s channel helped me appreciate and the legends of the past as well as lifting today’s stars.
I have Bird over in Goat and position greatness. For context, I truly don’t put someone on the list until they’ve retired and their resume is complete. For reasons like LeBron, 8 years in I had him super high based on projections of how I thought things would unfold. I assumed he would be easy top 5 barring injuries. Time has exposed his weaknesses some of which I expected him to strengthen. I wrote out a top 10 to humor a LeBron fan, and had Bird in a 3-7 range as those spots are very tight. I guessed then that LeBron might be my #10 but that would also be a tightly contested area of a list for me.
We have identical starting 5 except eith this lineup i usually go with shaq at 5 because I wanna see magic feeding shaq oops and i got to watch MJ and shaq a few all star gsmes together in the east and it was something special. Hakeem very well might be the best center ever though.
Missing that fourth at the buzzer was so sad. In the air (from three?) half the players & coaches said, "shit not again," the other half said "oh yeah." Then, bounce.
@@davep8221 You watch the replays, and it looks good from release to the point it banged off the back of the basket. I honestly think that if the ball had caught the rim at just a slightly different point in its rotation, it would have bounced down instead of up.
Bird should be in most people's top five. Here's the list of all-time greats who named Bird top five: LeBron James Michael Jordan Kobe Bryant Magic Johnson Kareem Abdul Jabbar Bill Russell Wilt Chamberlain Hakeem Olajuwon Isaiah Thomas Scottie Pippen If they named him in the top 5 ever list, then it should be settled
Along with scoring, defense is the one place Bird lags well behind Jordan, who was a 9X First Team All-Defensive team and a Defensive Player of the Year.
@TheRealMindCrime _As I understand it,_ defense is about preventing the opposing team from scoring. Offense is about scoring more than them. *Opposing teams scored **_less_** when Bird was on the court.* 1v1 Defense affects the one player that is being guarded by a player. Team defense affects the entire opposing team, not just one opponent. DWS (Defensive Win Share) statistics compute the effect that an individual player has on the opposing team's ability to score while he was on the court. Bird *led the league 4 seasons.* In Top 10 in each of his first 8 seasons. [1980-1987] Second place twice. (1st, 1st, 2nd, 5th, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 6th) ☘️ Larry Legend (1987 - 1990 seasons Olajuwon led the league)
Defensively I have him lower than Kobe but I could be off on that. I have Kobe just a hair under Jordan. I have Bird over Pippen. Arnett made a good movie, and another great reaction!
larry was a great team d... je wasnt a dominant shut down guy... but his defensive effectiveness was great.. 4 time leader in defensive win shares.. his defensive rebounds blocks and steals meant he had a greater effect defensively than most
who doesn't consider him an all time REBOUNDER?//. certainly not me.. you honestly dont know a lot about Bird... but i get it.. but bird was the best passer.. best rebounder scorer. shooter... and was a great blocker
He really was. If i remember correctly i think he averaged 10 rpg for his career. He was the total package. Long game. Mid range. Post. Drive. Him and magic were rhe best 2 passers in the game. Great defender. Hustled and put his body at risk for the ball. And was the most clutch player ive ever seen. Bird will always have a lock at SF in my top 5 all time team.
Larry Bird was a good, good player and at times when it counted, he was great. But there have been many players just as good and just as essential throughout the history of the NBA. Bird was one of many good players during his era but those players are ignored. I personally think Wilt is the greatest as he set all his records and there are still many unbroken! He did in 12 years what other players have still to match after 20 years career.!
Not only did Bird sit out that potential quad double, KC Jones and Dan Shaughnessy begged him to go back in for the fourth. He waved them off saying he did enough damage and he can get a quad double whenever he wants. Personal stats didnt motivate him, only winning mattered. Thats why, for me, aside from him being the best all around Basketball player hes also the best role model for young kids. Which is exactly the opposite of Lebron James. Best small forward for sure. Even Jordan while being asked whos better between Bird and Lebron said "Larry is far better than any small forward to ever play the game"
I'm so sick of these know-it-all new age guys looking at numbers to determine a "weakness". How can something be a weakness if a team can't exploit it? MJ 's 3pt shooting was not a "weakness". He was so prolific scoring that it didn't matter whether or not he could shoot from the logo. He was going to give you 30+ on 50% shooting regardless. Was it also a weakness that Shaq couldn't shoot threes??
Exactly. Thats how we end up with dumb teams like the suns where literally everyone does the same thing because they are all 3 point specialists with no defense or post game skills. The 80s and 90s were eras of specialists
@@jammiebooker6489 I’m not picking Wilt either. I’m picking Bird. You’re right that “Stats” isn’t the whole story on how good a player was. Bird did not chase “Stats” BUT the “Stats” did chase Him. To Me Bird Had & Has The Best IQ BB & Mix In His Skills. Yea He Was & Still The Best All Around Player.
There is no comparison. LeBron can not match Bird in any way. Just imagine what Bird would do if LeBron charged him, like he does to everyone else. He would never let LeBron forget. While wearing Chucks to boot.
Yeah. And by the late 80s it really started to get bad at least from what we could see during the games. I'm really glad he got to play on the dream team before hanging up his hat. Bird was and still is awesome.
People give a not to Bird's Basketball IQ, but what he was is just a fundamentally sound player. Nobody had better fundamentals. He comes from an age where there was a proper way to play basketball. He knew it and so did everyone he played with and against. Bird wasn't a game changer. What he is recognized for being is playing the game with fundamental skills at the highest level. He was peak for those striding to be a complete player. He's also put a dagger in heart if the game was on the line and he wanted the ball in those situations. Where Bird fails to get attention from newer NBA fans is that you need to watch complete games, not just highlight reels. Bird dominated games and wore you out. If you made a mistake, Bird would make you pay for it. If you didn't box out, he'd box you out and get your rebound. If you didn't guard him, he'd just shoot the ball and it would go in. If you double teamed him, he'd find the open man. He'd figure out your weakness and know how to play against you. And I'm not just talking about the man he was guarding, he'd figure out everyone on the court. This is basketball, you can't really stop the opposing team from scoring. The game is designed to create mismatches. But if you play fundamentally great, the number of mismatches will favor you. And nobody was better at this than Bird. He won 3 consecutive MVPs and nobody argued that he didn't deserve them. It was simple, watch a game with Bird playing in them and ask yourself who played the best. And for 3 seasons, the answer for every one of those games was Bird. If you watch Bird's highlight reels, it's not about athleticism, it's about find the opposing teams weakness. Given he didn't have any weaknesses, his play it was just hard to stop him. You couldn't just fundamentally beat him. And over an entire game his team would just score when your wouldn't.
You know Im putting Bird over Bron. Isnt it interesting how they have comparable careers, yet compare their bodies lol. And bird wasnt playing nearly as long, and he wasnt chasing stats. I love that contest he won in his warmups
How in the world is LBJ considered an all around player? He can't dribble, can't shoot, can't pass, can't lead, is terrible in the clutch, doesn't play defense,...
Larry Bird was a better basketball player then LeBron James. Pound for pound. He was better then Magic. However, I have magic in front of Bird because he had a better career
Agreed. Magic is the best PG of all time for me and Bird is the best SF all time. Gimme mj at sg, duncan at pf, and take your pick at center between shaq and dream and no one is beating this team lol.
If MJ is Goat 1A, Larry is definitely Goat 1B.. And where is the love for Stockton.?? He only had a 13th draft pick to work with in a stacked Western conference his entire career, and is 9-12 against Magic who is 6'9 and had the most stacked team in history in a weaker Western conference
@@TheRealMindCrimeI'd pick Hakeem over Shaq in a heartbeat, Shaq was a horrendous free throw shooter, and Shaq got lazy at times out on the court, imo, he should have averaged 15 boards a game for his career at his size and his game is effective within 6 to 8 feet of the rim, any further out he's pork fried, Hakeem all day everyday even on Sunday Bro, much respect to your channe 18:05 l
Larry Bird was better than LeBron James, and Larry Bird knew when it was time to hang it up rather than stat padding and trying to be the GOAT by playing forever. LeBron might play till he's 60 in his stat padding attempt 😁 But he's already just 6 shots shy of most missed shots, he's 3rd in most missed 3s, and 5th in most missed free throws plus he has by far more turnovers than anybody else 🤣😂🤣 Larry Bird is a legend, LeBron....Not so much, 😁
100% Bird even said recently that when Len Bias was drafted he was prepared to play a few more years then hang it up. "The team will be in good hands" he had a very non selfish mentality to rhe game and i respect him for that.
Larry Legend was the man, one of the three deadliest players who ever played, endless bag, assasson mentality, and greatest trash talker... he 3rd in my alltime greats list... as for greatest small fowards... Larry Legend easy
@@TheRealMindCrime Oh yes, and when you hear stories about him by other players who played against him or with him, cut from same cloth as 2 dudes who were killers like him, dude is down 20 and with broken kneecap and returns to play 4th quarter and wins... that sums up Larry Bird
Larry Bird indeed top 5 all time in my book but I dont think he has a case for Goat. At all. The rings are the most important thing! 4^ you got a case if your stats align to some degree given the context of your career. Take bron for example. He has 4 BUT no case for goat due to the context of his career and how he won! Larry bird is definitely better than bron.
I might get some crap for this haha but Bron is above Bird on my list. Im a white guy from the south larry bird is our basketball north star 😂 but no for me Bron has surpassed him
I respect that. Most people don't respect bird and magic and its stupid. They passed the torch to mj. Nba wouldn't be so big without MJ but before him Bird and Magic paved the way.
😂😂😂. lost me at DURANT LOL... no boards no passing no defense,,, WTF... obviously all around bird jordan and james are up there... i simply cant say lebron is a sf.... he is more magic type pg.. he didn't play the sf post like bird or play off ball... cant possibly call lebron and bird same position
Oh KD ain't on my list lol. But i know for some younger viewers that might be their favorite. Or lebron. But Bird is my all time greatest SF of all time. Hands down. Not a contest. He played rhe position the right way. Bron and KD play it like a guard. I'm not a fan.
@@TheRealMindCrime well, in the thumbnail of his new video he has "Where should Lebron go now" like it's a given he's gonna flee the team he tore down (which for Lebron it is a given), but he should be held accountable for his actions, and to me this feels like normalizing it
Your information is all wrong Larry Bird only has 3 Rings 💍💍💍. Plus he Broke his Back in 85 not in 91 he played the last 8 Years in Pain. Plus they're more but I'm not autocorrect but your all over the place without even seeing the Board...
Larry turns a 29 win team to a 61 win team in a stacked conference in his rookie season, while Lebron runs away from a 60 win team to team up with 2 top 10 players in a weak conference... Lebron is the son of Baby Bird Jokic.. Do you want me to keep spelling out to you why Jokic's father owns LeBalco??
"He's in my top six." Like it matters what you think. You are clearly too young to have actually seen him play. Your just a carnival barker trying to get attention.
"We don't consider him a great rebounder." Speak for yourself. You clearly have no clue. I consider him a great rebounder because he was. I've seen the man play live. He is the greatest ever.
I watched him play. He averaged 10 a game for his career. I mean the general public these days only remember him as a shooter. They have no idea that he was actually to total package. Inside, mid, outside game, tough, rebounds, team D, blocks steals and one of the best passers I've ever seen. Add on highest level bball iq and you got larry legend. At my work place there are lots of dudes in their 20s. They only know him from shooting highlights. They have no idea.
Bird passes have a higher degree of difficulty than people realize
For sure. He has that special ability to be a few seconds ahead of everyone else. Its rare.

A very understated thing is how often the old greats sat out in blowout games. Imagine if bird or MJ were making shots in garbage time?

Fun fact bird also has the second highest score in 3 point contest history until they added 4 extra money balls and two 3 point balls something people don't think about when comparing the scores to older scores in the 3 point contest
I didn't knkw that! Bird is a legend though cuz he stopped doing the 3 point contest so other people could win lol.
For sure. I still have him as my all time greatest SF. Lebron is the only one who contested that spot for a bit but now its no comparison.
Larry athleticism so underrated it’s insane. But his impact speaks for itself.
Anyone putting Kobe above him (overall; not athletically) is still in their feelings.
All time 5 that you cannot beat:
Hakeem
Mchale
Bird
Jordan
Magic
It’s understated a rarely mentioned that it’s more difficult to average 40% from 3 when your shooting 2 a game with an incredible usage rate, and some dumb percentage of the threes taken are in clutch time… and he’s the guy the other coaches are making defensive schemes for. Love me some legend if I was 5 years older he would probably be my favorite all time player.
Yes! Most don't understand that. Its like being 90% from free throws but you only get 2 shot per game. Thats hard to do when not in rhythm
Bird had Swag. Not only in his passing but in everything he did.
Even his trash talking had swag lol
Bird above Lekaren by 10 spots minimum
I got him beat by 8 spots lol.
Seriously. Just on clutch play alone. Lebron isn’t even close to having the mental toughness and ice in his veins that Larry had/has.
“Lekaren” hahaha
This is very true! Everyone knew magic, bird, and MJ at least. No non fans can name a single nba player these days lol
@@TheRealMindCrime Thanks for the Reply,
Bird without a doubt. If my life was on the line I would have larry shoot for it over any player ever.
Me too. Without hesitation. Clutchest player of all time
Like you said Best small forward, his stats were impressive and his 3 point shooting and rebounding and passing.
Oh yeah. Still to this day i have never seen a better small forward. Ever. He's got the 3 spot locked in any of my all time greats starting 5.
There’s bird and Jordan, and everyone else.
Wonder how long it will take UA-cam to catch up to this fact.
(Exceptional at EVERYTHING else except threes)
Really good reaction vid- I’m so glad to see people giving Bird his flowers.
Nice. I already had him above Bron but the past few years just adds an extra nail in the coffin.
The Legend #33 The GOAT
Larry Legend
Bird is 10 Times the Player LeBronze ever was.
Johnny Arnett really does have the best intro. That edit when the bell rings as jordan dribbles is 💴
I love his intro so much lol. I could watch thay on a loop
Bird is a better shooter and far more clutch than LeBron.
Heck, i think birds the most clutch of all time.
MJ, Bird, Magic, Kobe, Hakeem
Respect
Larry was the most complete package, but at the same time let's not forget what team he was playing on, To me MJ is so far ahead of everyone else that we shouldn't even talk about him with this other mortals.
My top 1 per position
SG: Kobe
SF: Larry Legend
C: Kareem
PF: Duncan (Al though i like Malone better, I do feel Duncan gets it cuz the rings)
PG: Magic
Order for me in like overall GOATs Kareem, Kobe, Larry, Magic, Duncan.
Yeah, I’ve Larry Legend around 5 or 6 all time, he’s the greatest SF ever😤
Hell yeah man. He's so underrated now. I have still never seen another SF come close
If I had to pick a SF for fantasy to rack up stats for me no matter what team he goes to and winning doesnt matter I may go lebron
If I'm a GM picking a player to help MY team win and not run off somewhere else or get me fired I'm picking bird 100%
I'm with you. I'm always thinking whats best for the team so I'm bird all day lol
@@TheRealMindCrime exactly I play for keeps
Larry Bird efsanesi 🔥 (efsanesi means legendary)
Love it!
Agreed 100%
Birds skill combined with brons longevity.....that woukd be scary
And before that he took a no-name college team to a championship
Pat Riley said "to win a game, I want Michael Jordan. To save MY LIFE, I want Larry Bird" to take the last shot.
can't argue with that one
Agreed. Most young people think Larry was just a shooter. They have no idea he was the complete package.
Thank you some much for the video mc.
I hear so much nonsense around me. People saying bird would play in Europe today .. such stupidity
Thats so insulting. Bird is one of the greatest to ever do it.
Bird won 3 championships not 4
Thanks mike. A few corrected me on that one. My bad on that.
Jumping high is just one part of athleticism, well the most visible other than speed but bird had above average height and agility can't forget stamina I'll say he's a great athlete. Chime in if missing other aspects of athleticism
Looking at the GOATs
PG - Magic Johnson
SG - Michael Jordan
SF - Larry Bird
PF - Tim Duncan
C - 5 way tie (Bill Russel/Wilt Chamberlain/Kareem Abdul Jabbar/Hakeem Olijawon/Shaquille O'Neal)
that's a good starting lineup right there!
Nah. I was there, like personally, and Bird was better than all that.
I really regret not getting to see bird in person. You're lucky. Glad I got to see him on TV a bunch though.
I usually have Bird as 2nd or 3rd on my list, depending how I feel. Either Jordan, Bird, Russell or Jordan, Russell, Bird.
I keep swapping bird and magic around at the 3 and 4 spot. Its hard to choose with people so great
It’s because of today’s GOAT conversation that I can no longer participate in it. Today’s GOAT conversation slights and disrespects the legends and stars of the past who paved the way. You just can’t do that. Jonny’s channel helped me appreciate and the legends of the past as well as lifting today’s stars.
Same here. I really enjoy talking about all the greats from the past.
Also, something we both discussed, its a joke comparing Brons assists to birds - the calculation of assists in the 80s was much more strict
Yup. 100%
@@TheRealMindCrimeand for rebounds as well.
Agreed. I had Lebron in my top 5 for a while now hes like 11 or 12 lol. Best to wait til they retire like you say.
This is my top 5 all time and also my starting 5. Hakeem, Duncan, Bird, Jordan and Johnson.
We have identical starting 5 except eith this lineup i usually go with shaq at 5 because I wanna see magic feeding shaq oops and i got to watch MJ and shaq a few all star gsmes together in the east and it was something special. Hakeem very well might be the best center ever though.
Bird only weakness, the cant win oscar best actors award. 🎉🎉🎉
IF....LARRY LEGEND played in today's era, he would get banned from the NBA and CANCELED by today's society and culture!!
What did he do?
Larry has 3 rings
Thats right. My bad on that. He got 3 in what....12-13 seasons i think.
@@TheRealMindCrime Larry’s Celtics won the chips 1981, 1984 and 1986.
@@TheRealMindCrime He got 3 in 7 seasons....technically. :)
Here's the list of all-time greats who named Bird top five:
LeBron James
Michael Jordan
Kobe Bryant
Magic Johnson
Kareem Abdul Jabbar
Bill Russell
Wilt Chamberlain
Hakeem Olajuwon
Isaiah Thomas
Scottie Pippen
If they named him in the top 5 ever list, then it should be settled
he's my number 3 all time
@@TheRealMindCrime I thought you said you have him at number 6
Along with scoring, defense is the one place Bird lags well behind Jordan, who was a 9X First Team All-Defensive team and a Defensive Player of the Year.
Yeah. MJ was a better defender all aroubd but Bird was a great team defense guy. His IQ helped him be at the right place at the right time.
@TheRealMindCrime _As I understand it,_ defense is about preventing the opposing team from scoring. Offense is about scoring more than them.
*Opposing teams scored **_less_** when Bird was on the court.*
1v1 Defense affects the one player that is being guarded by a player.
(1st, 1st, 2nd, 5th, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 6th)
☘️ Larry Legend
(1987 - 1990 seasons Olajuwon led the league)
Defensively I have him lower than Kobe but I could be off on that. I have Kobe just a hair under Jordan. I have Bird over Pippen. Arnett made a good movie, and another great reaction!
I have him just below Kobe as well with magic. They are all so great its hard to place them correctly lol
Bron travels. Carries. Charges. Abuses refs.
These facts alone remove him from ANY consideration as 🐐. Its an insult to the guys who played right.
I feel the same way
Agreed
larry was a great team d... je wasnt a dominant shut down guy... but his defensive effectiveness was great.. 4 time leader in defensive win shares.. his defensive rebounds blocks and steals meant he had a greater effect defensively than most
For sure. Team D wise Bird is easily one of the best ever. No SF did it better in my mind.
who doesn't consider him an all time REBOUNDER?//. certainly not me.. you honestly dont know a lot about Bird... but i get it.. but bird was the best passer.. best rebounder scorer. shooter... and was a great blocker
Agreed. Wilt was really special. So far only did one vid on him and learned so much. Definitely gotta do another one. His story is wild.
Shaq's FT was definitely a weakness.
And Shaq Couldn't Shoot Good at The Free Throws, ha ha ha ha
@@gailshepard-cook6350 I didn't know this till I looked it up, but Wilt sucked at the FT line too
@@jammiebooker6489 I’m not picking Wilt either.
He injured his back in 84
Yeah. And by the late 80s it really started to get bad at least from what we could see during the games. I'm really glad he got to play on the dream team before hanging up his hat. Bird was and still is awesome.
Magic, Michael, Larry, Timmy and Bill Russell all-time starting 5
And Bird did it all in half the time as Lebron lol
How in the world is LBJ considered an all around player? He can't dribble, can't shoot, can't pass, can't lead, is terrible in the clutch, doesn't play defense,...
I have 20 more
You could make a argument that Bird was the league's best for close to a decade .If you seen him play you knew....He Produced
Frm 1980, 1 jordan, 2 bird/magic, 3 duncan. Sorry kobe. Im a diehard celtics.😂
@@TheRealMindCrime for my center its wilt
Larry Bird was better than 95% of players in NBA history
LeBron might play till he's 60 in his stat padding attempt 😁 But he's already just 6 shots shy of most missed shots, he's 3rd in most missed 3s, and 5th in most missed free throws plus he has by far more turnovers than anybody else 🤣😂🤣 Larry Bird is a legend, LeBron....Not so much, 😁
100%
Bird even said recently that when Len Bias was drafted he was prepared to play a few more years then hang it up. "The team will be in good hands" he had a very non selfish mentality to rhe game and i respect him for that.
Bird didn't need to shot jack either and unlike Jordan or Kobe Bird could out rebound his teammates
Larry Legend was the man, one of the three deadliest players who ever played, endless bag, assasson mentality, and greatest trash talker... he 3rd in my alltime greats list... as for greatest small fowards... Larry Legend easy
Bird deserves ao much more praise than he gets. He was so deadly and so tough. Bird was one of a kind.
@@TheRealMindCrime Oh yes, and when you hear stories about him by other players who played against him or with him, cut from same cloth as 2 dudes who were killers like him, dude is down 20 and with broken kneecap and returns to play 4th quarter and wins... that sums up Larry Bird
Look no hand checking since 2008?
I have lebron above bird in all time rankings but the greatest sf of all time is bird
I can totally respect that mike. On my all time starting 5 I got Bird at SF.
Agreed! Hes in my top 5 too but not the goat. Best sf of all time though for me.
I might get some crap for this haha but Bron is above Bird on my list. Im a white guy from the south larry bird is our basketball north star 😂 but no for me Bron has surpassed him
Hey i can respect that man.
Bird is definitly top 5 ever ! Better then James
Thats BTMs Intro Bro
I have bird magic number one open the door for the NBA Michael Jordan 2 blowing the door away and you could have the rest
I respect that. Most people don't respect bird and magic and its stupid. They passed the torch to mj. Nba wouldn't be so big without MJ but before him Bird and Magic paved the way.
LeBron isn't a top 20 player. So much hype. And Bird is 2nd or 3rd on my list if you remove centers all time.
...what are, 3 things LeBron James doesnt value?
Teammates, coaches, teams, winning, championships, fans
😂😂😂. lost me at DURANT LOL... no boards no passing no defense,,, WTF... obviously all around bird jordan and james are up there... i simply cant say lebron is a sf.... he is more magic type pg.. he didn't play the sf post like bird or play off ball... cant possibly call lebron and bird same position
Oh KD ain't on my list lol. But i know for some younger viewers that might be their favorite. Or lebron. But Bird is my all time greatest SF of all time. Hands down. Not a contest. He played rhe position the right way. Bron and KD play it like a guard. I'm not a fan.
People over 50 Know Hes better than LeBronze
Johnny already making excuses for Lebron to flee to another team
Seriously??
@@TheRealMindCrime well, in the thumbnail of his new video he has "Where should Lebron go now" like it's a given he's gonna flee the team he tore down (which for Lebron it is a given), but he should be held accountable for his actions, and to me this feels like normalizing it
@@TheRealMindCrime he does have the best intro though 👍👍
Your information is all wrong Larry Bird only has 3 Rings 💍💍💍. Plus he Broke his Back in 85 not in 91 he played the last 8 Years in Pain. Plus they're more but I'm not autocorrect but your all over the place without even seeing the Board...
You goofball. He's the best ever.
He's in my top 5. Also greatest SF all time for me. Bird was special man. Hope you're doin well.
first
You win!!!!
@@TheRealMindCrime yessir
LeBron owns his son Bird
Lol. Any day of the week
You got me confused. A whole video of complimenting larry legend and you coming at me as though I'm a bird hater. You good ronald?
If you like bird why you mad about a video calling him one of the greatest of all time? People are cray
I think you confused bro
Nobody cares what you think.
You good?
