The new effects in the old rat room, are so much better then what we had. Good on Disney
That was the ONLY improvement. Happy that the snake is new and working, but it moves so slow. I’m still disappointed that the collapsing bridge is still not working and the moving doors are still not moving. Disney needs to dump money on making those iconic effects work again.
Amazing improvement. God I wish they would just close it longer so we can get more upgrades. Especially the dart section right after the new replacement for the rat scene

@@josephmora5230 nah. Nothing gets around the fact that this ride is from the 90s… it is now in preservation status rather than money dumping
@@josephmora5230 but tbh the doors effect would be hard to fix because it would be demolishing the ceiling to fix that one scene so it probably never be fixed
Looks like a very solid refurb! A lot the effects look to be working again, new scene to replace the rat fog, and everything looks brighter and crisp. Shout out to all the cast members that gave this attraction the much needed TLC to bring it back to life in a short period of time. One of the best attractions in the resort when at full potential. Best we’ve seen it in a while
I’m gonna be honest… as happy as I am to see the snake moving again, when I saw the photos of the new animatronic being shipped in I kind of had hopes it would be a completely new, much better animatronic. Like the IRex they added to the Jurassic Park ride at Universal. I was looking forward to a whole new snake with modern technology to replace the old one.
Same here. This snake looks way too cartoony
@@Daftchild89the cartoony-Ness of it is also a side effect of it being Giant. Since snakes aren't usually ever THAT big it just kinda looks cartoony by default. The retracting teeth and black lights don't help
If it wasn’t “cartoon like” it wouldn’t fit the theme of the ride.
@@rylanfernandes7371 I disagree, the only other thing in the ride that has that cartoony quality to it is the skeleton warriors, and I've always assumed those are meant to be artwork and not an actual depiction of animated skeletons. Mara, Indy, and the rest are all done in a realistic style.
Still wish they brought back Indy saying "careful.. watch for anything that slithers!" right before the Cobra, but they haven't used that line for many years.
When Indy is at the gates there’s also a new effect behind the gates… it’s the power Indy is trying to save you from
Yeah it looks so much more mystical than what was there before, it better communicates the idea that Indy’s trying to keep some supernatural force at bay, which was never clear with the old curtain effect in my opinion. Still not sure anyone riding can tell your car is supposed to be levitating though, lol

I noticed that immediately too. That is my favorite science because it sets up the whole story that something ominous is about to happen.
so glad they fixed the snake :) but it seems more stiff than it used to be
A friend of a friend was an engineer for the snake and they had a hard time finding the perfect level of power for it to move forward and not have the head shoot off… it’s harder than it looks to make the animatronics….but the snake looks great

The statue of Mara in hall of promise actually looks like gold now
I still prefer the fireball effect in Tokyo. The projection of the temple collapsing and the electric effects are definitely a big improvement though.
Honestly my only real wish with it is to get more fog in the ride, especially in the lava lake as the lights on their own don’t look great compared to how they were when there was fog there. Also singing the paint job so that it’s less neon as I think it looks better with more natural colors.
This ride brings me so much joy. It's peak Disney for me. First time I ever rode it was with my Mom and Grandma as a kid and my Grandma was TERRFIED of snakes. So when we got to the snake part she screamed and it's this fun memory I have of her to this day and I am pushing 40. Hearing you go "oh my god, oh my god, oh my god' in excitement just brought that all back. I am sad the three doors still don't work.
Broke twice tonight and the cue is a lot brighter now. You can tell things are crisp, but the moving skeleton don't come down anymore and when we were on it the jeep stopped at the boulder. Just need Disney to fix broken items and add new elements and not just add new and forget the old.
Fixes: Enhanced lighting on focal points and characters including Mara, Indy, large skull, molten lava rocks under the bridge to name a few , glow paint redone, sound effect queue's such as the wire snapping on the bridge, snake lash, darts shot from walls, and Indy hanging/ball drop. Re-watch and pay close attention to the details of the video and mentioned rework.

First,Thank you David for showing the queue. I can never see the first part of the queue because I go through the wheelchair line. I always wanted to know how it was. Very exciting Indy is back! Everything looks great brighter and new effects! Woohoo! Awesome!!
Of the things that worked opening day that are still broken... The mirror wall at the entrance where you're supposed to see which door you're going in still doesn't move. You already confirmed the pole in the spike room. The ice machine is still dead. But those seem to be lost causes.
All the new stuff looks awesome! Glad they replaced the rats. That effect was always kinda iffy. The snake moves again! And all the new "side rooms" look so cool!
Can't wait to ride it again!
I was watching some old clips of this ride from 1995-1997 yesterday to take a look at the mirror wall that I remember moving from when I was a kid.
Unfortunately I don't think we'll ever see that move again, as the reason it moved was to angle the view to whichever of the three doors the vehicle in front of you went into. Since the vehicles always go through the middle door now, it no longer needs to move.
I can't recall if it's currently pointing at the middle door though.
There are several other videos from today showing the pole in the spike room working.
I don’t think they’ll even fix those not the moving room especially because of structural damage
@@CameronSmithAU The mirror wall was supposed to let you watch other cars go in, and give you an indirect way to look at Mara, so it's kind of a bummer it doesn't move.
Right now, it doesn't point at anything when it's folded up against the wall.
Only wish I have is for them to reintroduce more fog in the ride. Especially in the lava lake.

2:58 The pole does work! We tried the same day you did and it worked perfectly fine! You just have to give it more of a tug.

That's a pretty nice upgrade since that portion of the ride you're just riding in the dark. now there's something to look at. It also looks like they brought back the old snake lunge. Rather than the two shot thrusts of the head they went back to the one strike where the attack was closer to the vehicle. I hope they do more to the ride in preparation for Dial of Destiny.

Yeah! So much brighter and it looks like they FINALLY fixed the boulder which was always my favorite part of the ride! 😃
My friends and I were VIP guests and taken back to the exit where our "host" took us through having those workers boarding others on other side stop so we could get in. After the ride was over, one of the exit attendants asked how we enjoyed the adventure? I said it was great with the exception of the boulder NOT FALLING ,! Disappointing! He said they were having trouble with it and pulled us aside giving us free return tickets good for 10 guests and to come to the front of the lightning line on our return!! We grabbed a couple of strangers as our guests and the boulder fell that time! Remarkable we were so very fortunate!!!!
Cool vid. Thanks. Looks like the spectral energy in that first post-rat room is what takes down the hallway in the second part of that scene. Some have said its Mara's energy ( as seen maybe at the beginning with all of the lightning across the walls that already existed). I also noticed that the projected animation on the doors to the temple seems to be more detailed than before. The Gold room projection has the door unlocking with circular locks. And the future one seems to stretch time lines (like hyperspace) and then creates the starfield. I did not notice these being so detailed before.
I think that the existing projections are all still the same. They just LOOK clearer because all of the projectors have been upgraded or re-focused.

I used to not want to ride Indiana Jones but then decided to ride it and now it's one of my favorites. Luckily, nothing was broken that I can remember when I rode it. I'm so glad they did a refurbishment though. It's fan favorite! I love the snake and the sound and effect of darts whipping past your head. Thanks for the update! I can't wait to ride it again!
I love it, I was surprised by those new effects! This has always been my favorite attraction so I’m happy it got a refurb!

Looking forward to the comparison. Glad it got some love -- the last time I went on (Feb 2019) there were issues. It had a partial breakdown - lights on but we weren't evacuated. When we made it back we were given the option to go around again -- there were issues on the second trip -- it was complete but multiple things weren't working right.

Those "spirits" things reminds me a lot of the energy that zapped the Nazi's when they opened the Ark, not sure what the collapsing hallway was supposed to represent maybe similar to the things that happened at the end of Indy 4? Or maybe just a rando stone build hallway structure that collapses hence you take a different direction in your car.

I'm glad they fixed the rat room scene, out of all the effects on the ride that I thought needed a SERIOUS upgrade, that was the one for me. I really dig the magical lightning tearing down the temple! Very cool addition and I'm glad that one of my favorite rides doesn't look as tired as I've seen in recent POVs over the past few years.

It seems to be a quality refurb! I like these crisp projections and vibrant lights, the snake looks cool and more interesting, new stuff is great!
I did not expect they would fix the bridge or the three door switch, but it's a little weird that they can't just add that fog on the floor. The big room scene has lava in the pit. And it was designed to have fog blending those lava isles with environment and adding glow. Why not to fix it? Did the fog machine break? Is it too expensive to replace? hmm seemed to me it was the easiest effect... well. When Disney was introducing Tiana's ride, to replace my favorite Splash Mountain, they mentioned that it would have some super advanced fog projection effect. I can image those fog machines will break just like these broke and no-one will fix them lol.
The ride looks amazing! Glad so much of it was fixed up! This ride very much needed it.

Out-of-towners here so been a minute since I’ve ridden it, lighting package looks like it got a big upgrade from my memory. More purple and more features were better lit, like the dragons in the big room.
So glad it finally reopened!! Can’t wait to ride when I go back next time!!!!

FreshBaked. David, To be honest as long as the boulder scene is working and the lighting has been fixed I'm happy. The 2 new scenes look great additions to the adventure we need a few more of scenes like this. sad that the snake still does'nt do very much. But at the very least Indie's back. Cheers, Chris Perry.

That fast motion walk through the cue was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen
I havent been to Disneyland since i was like 6 but im going for my 21st birthday this year! Ive always been obsessed with watching videos on ride mechanics. I really wanna learn how to work with audio animatronics too! Indiana jones is one of my top favorites to learn about and watch ride theoughs of.

Guys the 3 door effect isn’t going to be fixed. We would need to rip up both the foundation and ceiling to have it fixed plus the company that makes the parts to fix it doesn’t exist anymore. Everyone goes on the same track. Disney isn’t going to spend the money on an effect that doesn’t really do anything. The mirrors weren’t fixed because those initially were to hide the door effect and since the door effect doesn’t work its purpose is now mute.
The new lighting effects look like the ‘power’ from the Ark at the end of Raiders. Awesome :)

This is one of favorite attractions at the park. I really love the music and background sounds, it really makes you think you are in the movie!!
Also, one time it stopped and we were directly under the Indy hanging by a rope. Kinda funny.
Two effects I believe are missing and needed are fog in the room past Mara as you veer toward Indy holding back the door and also smoke in the lava pit below the bridge.

Cool! The specter and collapsing stonework effects look great (the collapsing effect looks like it utilizes the Pepper’s Ghost illusion somehow?...) Y’know, have they considered a virtual version of the Chamber of Destiny in which the three portals are projection mapped and it’s the projections that shift right and left instead of the whole wall? @8:47 I thought those park goers in the background were being kidnapped into some secret passageway as that stone slab closed but then I realized that’s probably an elevator. 😂🤣

I went on this one later that night the ride kept breaking down all day but finally got qued in to do it I haven’t rode it since I was 6 I didn’t like it all then but I did it recently and I feel the bumps too

I thought it was cool that the beginning scene when you first enter the door was different with each of your rides. And it matches with different faces of the idol once you entered the door. I wonder how many versions there are 🤔

I was at Indiana when it opened they had cards that helped read the story on the walls.The line was so long it was crazy.
