Yes, our German national 80s pop treasure! But she was also very successful in France (due to the fact that she was born near to the border of France). The producer and composer was her ex-husband Michael Cretu from Romania. The background vocalist is Hubert Kah (not the one in the video!) who also had a huge success in the early 80s in the New German Wave (Neue Deutsche Welle) era. After that era he sang in English, I recommend "Limousine" and "Military drums". Sandra had hits until the early 90s, my favourites are "Heaven can wait" (I´m sure you will love the bass in this...), "Around my heart", "Secret land", "Little girl" and "We´ll be together". Not really, Sandra and her husband Michael Cretu, later formed the group Enigma in 1990, which reached global success. Even in this early 1985 Europop song, you can hear some of their familiar trademarks (like the melodic chandelier and the marching band drums) in Engima's future tracks.
yes was time for my fav female singer for the 80s , Sandra , so many 80s hits from her , Maria Magdalena , Heaven can wait , we'll be together , secret land and so many many years , thanks Derek
Hi from Spain! Wau so many comments on our Pop Queen Sandra.. I have been a fan since Maria Magdalena! I even had the Sandra Spanish Fan club. I met Sandra many times but the first time I was 16 back in 1990. She and the productions of Michael Cretu made her a very special unique Sandra sound style..together with the naturality of her own. She is just Fantastic and she lives in my country in Ibiza.
Yep, she is married to the keyboard player who did start the Enigma project but I believe is also the founder of Gregorian ua-cam.com/video/8JFGdH5wgCs/v-deo.html
Her success start from Greece, in the summer when her song maria Magdalena start playlist in the islands of mykonos and Santorini, and after that Europe get to know her .

Greetings from France Dereck ! Sandra was actually considered as the European Madonna throughout the 80's and early 90's. She was produced by her then husband Michael Cretu who gained international fame as a composer by creating the project Enigma, back in 1990, with the the major first hit "Sadeness part 1" which topped the charts everywhere, so as "Return to Innocence" in 1993, "Beyond the Invisible" in 1996, "Gravity of Love" in 2000...The debut album "MCMXC a.d" is still the album to date that stayed more than 2 years in the US billboard. You should react to this wonderful and unique mixture of electronic, religious and ethnic samples, lot of sensuality also but with strong beats most of the time. Michael Cretu sold like 70 million albums with Enigma and 20 with Sandra plus 10 million with various projects in Germany where he studied music. Enigma is so unique you can find fans from all over the world on their UA-cam channel. Enjoy !!
Sandra was the most successful female European pop singer of the 80s... Very famous in Latin America too...Follow this Sandra career journey because you will discover other 80s classics such as "María Magdalena", "Heaven Can wait", "Hiroshima", "Secret land", "little Girl", "Loreen" ... among many others

Just to give you some information on the music video, because you wanted to know how things went behind the scenes: The video was shot in an old Coca Cola factory in November/December 1985. As said by Sandra herself, it was snowing outside whilst on the set the crew worked with dry ice to make it look like the clip was set in a sauna/bathhouse. I hope this clears thing up for you. ;) Great video, by the way.
Derek! Thank you so much for bringing my favourite Singer back on a stage! Thank you for that amazing feedback to that totally underrated Artist! For that you always will have place in my heart on on my Abos! :-) thank you buddy! 😘
I was a fan ( and still am I ) and I think you chose her best song to new ears even if I like some of hers even more. She had many hits worlwide except in UK and USA. But she had a number one in USA with her band ENigma in 91. The title was 'Sadness'. But I suggest you to listen to ENigma's second worldwide hit 'Mea culpa orthodox mix' . Thanks for your reactions Derek it's good to share good vibrations.
OMG OMG OMG Sandra LOVE her, you need to react to Maria Magdalena, Stop For A Minute, Hiroshima, Heaven Can Wait and these songs by her then husband who produced all her stuff up until early 2000s Michael Cretu with Samurai, Gambit & Silver Water & 2 songs he did with Manfred Theirs called Snowing Under My Skin & a cover of Schools Out under the name Cretu & Theirs. I have all of her albums on CD , and all the albums she did with the girl group she was in before she went solo Arabesque look them up very Boney M ish. The bloke singing is called Hubert Kemmler who was in the group Hubert Kah which you need to react to their song Limousine
Alphaville, Modern Talking to stay in Germany... And after you have to discover Italo Disco style with lots of bands from Italy in the eighties... Fun Fun, Ken Lazlo, Miko Mission... So many songs. Thanks from France
Yeah. I liked Ken Lazlo, all the others, and Jeanne Mas, Indochine and others. Hey hey guy, really cool.. Do you really have to make this about nationalities? So sad. Thanks from Germany.
The 80s were amazing:) You should isten to the extended 5mins version of this. The solo starts with an accoustic guitar, goes into an electric guitar and then moves into a synth solo. One of the best solos/bridges i have ever heard in my life.
There used to be blue screen before the green screen. They definitely had it back in the 1980s, maybe even 1970s. The technology wasn't as refined as it is now, so often you could see some artefacts on the edge where the person is.
Finally a reaction to one of europes most successful female singers, still most sold records for a female artist from germany with more than 30 million. Almost 30 singles charted in the german top 100. every album charted in the top 100. you should check out more songs: Secret Land, One more night, Everlasting Love, Stop for a minute, Don't Be Aggressive

😂 OMG! Epic reaction! I’ve never heard this song either since I don’t think she got airplay here in the US which is a shame because it’s such a great song and those SYNTHS! Now, let’s talk about your comments! Love you “throwing your approval” and the bath house comparison! Hahaha! Hmmm, I wonder how you would make that association (LOL!). Cracking up when you were commenting about how “she really WANTS IT!”. Did you find this video to be “steamy”? 😂 loved your air-synth too, that’s my usual reaction as well when I’m really into a song with epic synths. You need to keep reacting to songs with heavy emphasis on synths. I know you reacted to Dead or Alive “You Spin Me Round”, but, they have another song which is just as epic and I personally think is better called “Lover Come Back To Me” which after seeing you react to this video, I think you’d enjoy hearing and seeing the video too. Very 80s campy synth pop, but, also irresistible. 😊here’s the link ua-cam.com/video/U6E3fslffUw/v-deo.html

Hi! Hi!, Midnight Man, One More Night, Secrets of Love and even more recent stuff from her such as Maybe Tonight, Infinite Kiss, etc. I'm looking forward to more Sandra reactions.
Hi Dereck ! Maybe you could try MARIA MAGDALENA by Sandra. Pretty sure you'll love this one too.
❤🎵🇫🇷
Wow...such nostalgie... Thank you for sharing ♡♡♡♡♡♡
Hey dereck ! Please do alphaville : sounds like melody ( the audio version, not the video version). It s a masterpiece of the 80's
Aaaah Sandra I remember this woman, so beautiful 😍
"Maria Magdalena" from she, is great too 👌 ❤️ kikoo Dereck 😗✌️
Just to give you some information on the music video, because you wanted to know how things went behind the scenes: The video was shot in an old Coca Cola factory in November/December 1985. As said by Sandra herself, it was snowing outside whilst on the set the crew worked with dry ice to make it look like the clip was set in a sauna/bathhouse. I hope this clears thing up for you. ;) Great video, by the way.
Hahaaa....you'r reaction is epic!!!🤣🤣you are open the door of heaven my freand!!!👏
YESSSS...!! Especially Heaven Can Wait is a real masterpiece and goosebumping song!🔊⚡🔥
Pleeeeaaase try "heaven can wait" and of course "Maria Magdalena"
Personally I also like" around my heart" and "secret land" very much
Alphaville, Modern Talking to stay in Germany...
The 80s were amazing:)
You should isten to the extended 5mins version of this. The solo starts with an accoustic guitar, goes into an electric guitar and then moves into a synth solo. One of the best solos/bridges i have ever heard in my life.
Sandra & her Husband also made the Band ENIGMA with big hits like " Sadness" or "Return to Innocence"
When they shoot the video it was actually very cold .
I'm a huge fan of Sandra since she came out in the 80s
Her closest rival from Germany is C.C.Catch, would be interesting to see your reaction to her songs such as "Soul survivor", "Heaven & Hell" & "Heartbreak hotel".
They were so hot back at that time, CCCATCH still is gorgeus.
CC Catch is Dutch. Her one producer Bohlen is from West Germany and and the other Rodriguez is from Spain
I was a teenager in the 80s and am now in my 50s. I still love this music and love that younger people like it too!
I’ll never be Maria Magdalena
You’re a creature of the night
Maria Magdelena
You’re a victim of the fight, you need love
Promise me delight
You need looooove
...
lol
I think you're mixed up buddy...that's her other, better song. They are indeed similar though.
Only adding the lyrics of the song referred to in my previous post. I guess that was confusing haha
The video was filmed in an old Coca Cola factory and it was winter. It was ice cold and the vapor is not hot water ;-) At 01:34 you can see her breath in the cold.
Man, you hit on ALL of her great songs.
Best track from Sandra.
This is just sensational, you can listen to this for hours non stop.❤❤❤
I just found this one. Chorus is gold
Try “stop for a minute” by Sandra
Hi Derek! I'm glad you finally made a reaction to Sandra! Her songs are gorgeous! It was popular in the USSR and remains very popular in Russia now. I recommend Maria Magdalena
Innocent love
Midnight man
Don't Cry (there is a video from the studio, and there is an interesting clip from a fan in black and white)
Secret land
We'll be together
Around my heart
Hiroshima
Don't be aggressive
Everlasting love
Haven can wait
Forever
Sandra is timeless and my best is Everlastings love, I spent so many nights away on London dancefloors with that track
With sandra, you’ll often approve Dereck, she has a lot of hits, a lot.
Secret Service - Flash in the Night. 1982 Epic 80's song
This video was filmed in an old factory building in Munich/Germany.
Haha...souvenirs... I was in love with her in the 80's :-)
You could check "Maria Magdalena" and/or "Innocent love"
Yes! Innocent Love (1986). Epic. What a song! My fav after In The Heat Of The Night. He'll like it!
Ahhh Sandra... at last! Good choice. Approval right at the first chorus => german qualität. They are not only good in cars, but in international-music as well. Check out Boney-M, Falko, Nena, Propaganda, Enigma, and others.
discover Sandra catalogue: Innocent Love, Stop For A Minute, Secret Land or Around My Heart...etc
Sandra is awesome, i love her songs and beautiful voice, i grew up with her songs.
Dereck, Sandra has been very successful in Europe with various hits, she was a queen of German dance. She is the narrator and sensual voice of the Enigma project ;-)
Thank you so much i was fun of sandra when i was 13 th ❤
j'ADOREEEEE Sandra Cretu evry songs is beautiffull
So happy you're reacting to Sandra and loving her ! ^^
Thanks Derek, I really like your videos. I'm French and I was happy to see your reactions to Mylène Farmer. Sandra Cretu Lauer is my second favorite singer, I recommend her album " Close to seven " released in 1992 with 2 songs by Sandra" Don't be aggressive "and" I need love ". Good video ;) .
Since u have discovered this 80s synth gem, please react to Sandras 1st mega hit Maria Magdalena, Heaven can wait, Innocent love and her producer Michael Cretu’s hit Samurai! You will be blown away!!!
Definately a good Idea!!!
I love sandra so much, great video, thank u so much
Sandra : one of my favourite artist : " Hi Hi Hi ", " Don't be agressive "... You should react to Kim Wilde's songs : " Cambodia ", " Never trust a stranger ".
My favorite Sandra song
Sandra. Enfin !!! By the way, she is french-german ;-)
The look of french, the sound of the german... or is it the other way around ? :)
Just kidding. The is a very beautiful and talented singer.
