I've had my firetv for about a year now, and I bought it from a friend. It's probably 3 years old. Since I bought it I've replaced the remote batteries (and I'm not exaggerating) at least 30 times. If I can manage to get 2 weeks use from a set of batteries then I consider myself fortunate, but typically they last about a week and it doesnt matter which brand i use. I've used the most expensive to cheapest from dollar tree and they all last about the same amount of time. Sometimes the low battery warning box will pop up on the screen immediately after putting new batteries in! Thankfully i can get 6 batteries for $1 at dollar tree and it will usually get me by for about a month.
My batteries won't last a day. But when I tested with continuity meter it doesn't indicate any short. Any other reason that is draining the batteries so fast?
I have the same problem , but mine has always done it from new. I thought it was the cheap batteries supplied that were dead before there time. They only lasted a week! I put in rechargeable batteries , they lasted the same! All the other remotes can go for up to a year or longer before they run out.
Do you think, adding a kill switch in the remote will help ? Especially cause the fire stick connects with the wifi as well. I think the stick is just inherently a battery guzzler
I have had the tv for almost a year, batteries started draining fast 5 months ago. Bought Duracel, had to put new batteries every other day. Crazy! Tried alkaline batteries, same.
Done the reset a few times, but never helped. Ended up giving up and we just use the remote app on our phones... Might try this, but mine has seemed to drain too fast from when I first got it..
i have an idea for everyone if their too lazy to take it apart just take out the batteries when you're not using it and im gonna be honest i threw my remote at the wall from frustration
I have removed the battery cover permanently and loosley taped the batteries in place. When not using the remote I pull one battery up and off of the terminal with my fingernail. To use the remote again I press the battery back in place with my thumb. Crude but it works! I'm thinking about adding a momentary switch to press when using the remote and then releasing it.

Thank you for your help. I thought I was going crazy because my firestick was using so many batteries in such a short time period. 😄
Oh that's crazy mine haven't finished after 7 month
I have the exact same problem. In two weeks the batteries had to be replaced. Other similar remotes go over a year without replacing. Not good.
Amazon will soon start making batteries to mint money
Bill Curtis mine had to be replaced in 3 days!! ITS NOT FINE

If you press the circle at 9 o’clock, the return button, and the guide button all at the same time, it’s supposed to fix it per some Amazon dude.
@ Charles Balagani try cleaning your battery post with baking soda and water. It worked for me
Very poorly designed remote by Amazon
