Why not w 16 like the Bugatti have but rather make it a hemispherical combustion motor w16H full high strength aluminum block to save weight with quad turbo small to large turbo so no lack in boost anytime then make a accual supercar that is 3200lbs or less from dodge with a 10 speed awd with electrick assist motors for launch and now were talking 1 of the fastest supercars ever built. How do you know that because he has a gay ass shaker hood that says that? You never even heard it running why don't they say it's a V12 with 8000 horsepower nobody would question it cuz the goddamn thing never runs
@@milesonewheelwinter that was going to be the srt in 2009.. So yes that is a real srt v10 viper motor in that challenger. Seen it in Chrysler at Carlisle in 2010
They went the right way. The Hellcat fits the Challengers purpose of strait line performance with horsepower and torque. The V10 NA is better for track use like it was in the Viper
The thing you gotta keep in mind though, is that the Challenger had only been reintroduced just a year before; & it only came in one model. The other thing to remember is that Chrysler was on the verge of bankruptcy at the time. If it hadn't been for the government buyout, they may never have made it! Then came Fiat, which changed EVERYTHING!

It’s a crazy fun concept but I have to think we would have been paying near Hellcat prices for it. That V-10 has always been ultra exotic and... pricey.
Remember folks the old saying there's no replacement for displacement...the biggest chunk of horsepower power always come from the engine so now imagine the numbers they would of hit when introducing forced induction to that v10
If you look at how everything played out, you can tell the SRT10 sparked the hellcat development, and exploring the profitability of the V10 in other applications.
If the Demon has around 800 horsepower and it has a V8, that's around 100 horsepower for each cylinder. Now add 2 more pistons to make the SRT10 and now you have a 1000 horsepower Demon *i m a g i n e*

He was more 'traditional' and did not like the idea of a 4-door Charger, but I understood the idea of progress in the form of using old names on new cars. Heck, look at some of the other cars they slapped the Charger and Challenger names to (i.e. Mitsubishi-made Challenger), and the idea of a 4-door Charger was not out of the ordinary. Look at the up to 717HP beauty we have now! Bo and Luke Duke would be hard pressed to catch up to one of the regular Hemi Chargers--heck 300HP V6 with their '69, lol!
Something about that 99 concept - it just looks so cool. They did a cool job styling it. The modern Chargers though are great across the board & its a great time to be into cars. I would love to see dodge and ram come together for another viper truck ....went to the track the other day and seen one tearing ass I personally think that it would give the Shelby truck a run for its money
That V-10 had always been aluminum since the beginning, & I mean block & heads. The HEMI is still an iron block, even in the Hellcat & Demon. Doubt that there'd be that much of a noticeable weight savings. They barely shaved 100lbs of the Demon by removing most of the creature comforts from the Hellcat.
I feel like having a v10 7L engine with only 600hp is a waste. Not a fan of v6 but twin turboed v6 engines can dust it. So why going bigger when it’s not necessary better. Get super/turbo chargers to a better use and stay with v8.
Put a blower on that v10 & it's not getting touched. Some squeeze 1500hp on stock internals - a larger displacement means a higher ceiling with forced air
I have a challenger widebody and love. If they would have offered 600 hp natural aspirated probably would bought it if price was right atleast 12-15 grand less.
I think that if they went with a V-10 which was also lighter than the V-8 cast Iron they would have gone with Turbo chargers (yes two of them) the car would have been over 1000 hp 5 years ago for sure. They would have been wrecking these cars at a faster rate than they are now. I don't think they were tooled to put the V-10's out in those kind of numbers though. In 2009 they had no idea how the Challenger was going to be received long term.
The more I think about it the more I think I should have got a new 5.7 vs getting a 392 Cause it’s easy easier to make more power and adapting forced air to it. Vs having a motor that’s dam near maxed out And trying to build it up
Evn 426 hemi clocks well on strips. imagine if there was a viper it would have been so much fun. Or may b dodge is keeping something for viper in future.

I like the supercharger’s better, I’m glad they went that route.
nothing like a screaming v8 hemi with a whine of a supercharger
Nice one!👍nicely shot ...still can not believe that's a phone microphone! Lol✌!
This SRT-10 is a beast right?! Dodge makes very cool concepts
that 1999 charger isa beauty ! u can see where the inspiration for 2025 charger came from also.
I would love to see dodge and ram come together for another viper truck ....went to the track the other day and seen one tearing ass I personally think that it would give the Shelby truck a run for its money
I agree with you - that Ram SRT-10 back in the day was awesome. They did a great job
I read something somewhere (idk if it’s true. Might be) they had this 8.7L Viper V10 crate engine that made 800hp off of natural aspiration
Imagine a super V10? The shaker name would come not from what the engine does to the car, but what the car does to the earth beneath it.
SRT-10 would've been a monster
I prefer the hellcat for the weight savings alone. That thing would weigh over 4600 lbs!
Think about what that SRT-10 would do with a blower on it though
That V-10 had always been aluminum since the beginning, & I mean block & heads. The HEMI is still an iron block, even in the Hellcat & Demon. Doubt that there'd be that much of a noticeable weight savings. They barely shaved 100lbs of the Demon by removing most of the creature comforts from the Hellcat.
I cant believe they're still making that v10 seems impractical to me
No they don't. This is a 2009 concept, never made it to production
I hear you - something really nice about having that kind of power n/a. This thing would've been a monster
If they was to supercharged v10 i think that would have been the 1000 hp engine right there.. But is it expensive to it
easily. SRT-10 engines can handle a lot of boost. Most do twin turbo setups
Both versions of the cars would have been killer!
Agreed - Dodge makes some cool stuff!
@@RTLife Mopar or no car
Why would I want a V 10 in my challenger that puts out over 100 less horsepower than my redeye?
Think about what that v10 would do with a forced air setup
An srt10 with a 4.5 blower would have been the CATS meow..
That would be a monster. Would likely be a supercar killer
V10 with a supercharger now that would be insane
That thing would be untouchable!
R/T Life Hell yea lol probably undriveable
I love the 1999 concept charger.. it reminds me of a more accurate 1969 charger made modern
Not many of us out there like it - they did such a great job on it. I would love it in my driveway
They should make a srt10 charger/challenger. Think about it. V6- R/T- 392- srt10- then the hellcats
imagine throwing a blower on that v10 - v6 R/T - 392 - Hellcat - SRT10 (1300+hp)
R/T Life ford and Chevy wouldn’t know what to do to catch up
Where was the “vs” part? Looked more like a comparison than a vs.
I would like to see a srt10 charger.. with viper powered badging.. viper hood, shifter.. snake in the dash on red line.. be so sweet.
That would looks slick - def a monster
The srt10 is a concept. I was like wtf???
This thing is a beast - thought it would be cool to show it off a little
The more I think about it the more I think I should have got a new 5.7 vs getting a 392 Cause it’s easy easier to make more power and adapting forced air to it. Vs having a motor that’s dam near maxed out And trying to build it up
392 throws up some solid times - a little weight reduction, demon springs & radials you're in the 11's. Can't go wrong with that
R/T Life yeah I can’t really do too much weight reduction. Kinda family Dailey driver car (some what )
What's the location of the video? Cool old buildings.
That is an abandoned pshy ward on Long Island - def a really cool spot for fun!
Evn 426 hemi clocks well on strips. imagine if there was a viper it would have been so much fun. Or may b dodge is keeping something for viper in future.
I really feel that the viper would've been a true monster of a car and would surely eat up all them fancy euro cars.
Imagine if they decided to put a forced air setup on it down the road. Thing is a monster N/A
With a forced setup in a viper it would be hands down the most powerful production car in the world and best of all it be a true bugatti killer.
Imagine a supercharged version of the 8.4l
Supercar killer! Well over 1000+WHP
FCA nowadays: You get horsepower! You get horsepower! You want horsepower? Here have some horsepower! Horsepower? Horsepower?!! Horsepower for you, and you, and you. HORSEPOWER FOR EVERYONE! HOOOORRRRRSEPOWER!!!
hahahaha so damn true!
Ummm the higher displacement with fewer cylinders is what gives more low end torque
