Great video. Are you new to the Keene Newport H2 sandals? I'm on my fourth pair and have been fishing, camping and hiking in them for almost 10 years. They are about the best adventure sandal around.
@@OutdoorChefLife Nice. I had the Keen Targhee II hikers for backpacking and they helped with sore feet, but the Newport H2 are perfect for coastal Florida here.
I've honestly tried to get one of your bullet lures every time you put them on sale and they sell out so fast I've never got one but I can say you two guys are quite far some of the best fisherman I've ever seen in my life shoutouts to Outdoor Chef life and shout outs to Northwest fishing secrets
I'd be stoked on a "grills lesson" too, and the different portable stoves you have vs the porcelain one you just used. Any info would be quite handy. I was especially impressed with the porcelain one for car camping, and the stove in your van (forget which episode) that folds up. Seems like a good option compared to what I use for backpacking. Do a plug, review, whatever you want to call it, I'm watching you for educational and inspirational porpoises, so school me, please. Gonna check out those water shoes mine are falling apart and i've already caulked them back together 3 times... time for a new pair. Sea you next week.
Can’t tell you how much joy your videos bring me taku, I’ve gotten my own spear and have been hitting the tide pools here and there using your catch and cookvideos as inspiration. 👍🏼
I'm from that area. Now you know why you don't see as many anglers around!!! Honest to goodness fishing and cooking video. Thank you guys. I really enjoyed this video.
Yaaay finally my local east bay fishing hole! It’s tough to catch things here off the bank. So happy to see someone who knows what they are doing go here and struggle alittle. Validates myself almost never catching anything here.
Speaking of Keen, I bought my first car back in 1987-a 1958 Volkswagen Beetle-from Rory Fuerst, the founder/CEO/whatever of Keen back when he was living in his parents’ house in Atherton. I had no idea I’d be buying the best sandals ever from him one day!!!
down here my buddy bought a separate boat b/c of the invasion of these mussels. they're tiny, but infest absolutely everything, and you need a coded wire after inspection from trailer to boat so if you clip it for saltwater you need a new inspection and a new cable which takes I think a month. You have to use the boat somewhere that has rangers to give you a new coded cable on exit or you forfeit everything, so you have to think about your launching spots. I approve, if our "lake" (reservoir) was contaminated it would be horrible. They only recently allowed kayaks, and it's a different process: you pay either way 5 bucks to get in and then something to pressure blast your kayak with hot water before entry. I say it's a win-win. As it's a reservoir, swimming is not allowed (I disagree with that as the water is processed later) and kayaking was until recently banned, but now YOU CAN DO IT! so check out "lake" cachuma. there are plenty of camping spots up there too, 5 bucks per vehicle, 5 per kayak, 80 rental of an aluminum boat, not sure about camping, bait store and all that at the launch, check it.
Taku for fool-proof lake trout fishing, especially rainbow, use sinking line, with a chrionomid and a small rubber leach pulled over the bead. Works every time. If you are ever in British Columbia I will take you belly boating up in the mountains behind Whistler. Love the show.
Man I love Keens. Been wearing them for years, particularly good for me as I have really wide feet, and their sides fit me great (I wear Targhee 2). Waterproofing on their boots is top notch and they are durable. So glad they are a sponsor - great fit for your channel Taku.
Nice KEENS! Keen are my favorite fishing shoes they are waterproof, lightweight and super comfortable! Great video! fresh catch and cook are the best!🎣👍
Tacos for taku , well one trout is better than peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, the queen of fish’n is miss’n , hope everyone has a Merry Christmas 🎁 and a Happy New Year 🎉
Trout marinade. Orange juice, soy sauce, honey, ground ginger, chopped garlic, ground pepper and some green onion. 20 mins in marinade and cook. Really works well on all fish .
I was just about to get out and catch some trout today but my plans got canceled 😩 it’s been a month and a half since ive been able to fish but at least taku comes in clutch with the vids
I love all of your fish taco videos man. They are something unique out of all the videos you make, and so special. I think it’s time to make a fish taco playlist Taku 😬. I should go buy some tomorrow.
Been to that lake before. Never had luck trolling or using lures in general. Your best bet is using powerboat and worms. I've actually been pretty productive there once I switched to bait. Nice vid man!
Lake del valle I was there that day.. i was the only person that fishing near the beach..I think u guys asked me what kind of lure I was using..I said spoon.. BTW it smells delicious when u were grilling that trout..
here in pa we call stocked trout pellet pigs. lots of people dont like them and say they taste muddy. but i like them and eat them all the time. i am gonna have to try this recipie next year.
This is more my jam being inland and not a huge trout fan. I need to try this. But, seriously Taku.... as I've been saying since the very beginning. Come visit Shasta County. Year round fishing and camping. And, I can at least suggest some bait. Thanks for another banger.
taku have you thought about doing traditional bow hunt and cook videos?? i would love to see videos of you hunting and what recipies you would use for different wild game.
Enjoy the creativity of your dishes, need to enjoy my catches fresh off the water like this.👍 Fyi Eastbay lakes...not allowed to throw the waste from your catch back in the water.
big ipa guy myself. you should come to cape may new jersey and do a fishing vid here and try cape may brewery. best brewery in jersey. love the vids btw
So that lake is a little harder now they usually lower the water this time of year. But this year because of drought they kept it high most fish will be hugging the shore like 2 to 3 feet of water. Shore guys have been killing it with small lures. One of the reasons the fish are close to shore is stripers keep them out of the deep. Nice video where did you get the grill ?
Planning on doing any more fresh water fish recipes? Also if you’re ever over in Lodi come check out the Hatchery or swing though the kitchen I work at.
Always dope to see you do a catch and cook. Love the content every time! I died laughing when Ensei said, "chicken in the woods?!" Thinking you were actually talking about a chicken in the woods! Lmao!
6:20 that actually looks like a native rainbow trout the stocked trout have the adipose fin removed or the fin behind the dorsal (in most cases) I’m from the bay too and do a lot of lake fishing in the area 9:45 the orange meat also a sign its native normally stocked trout don’t have that bright orange color
that fish was stocked for sure. had the signature wear and tear on its fins from growing up in a hatchery run. i dont think all stocked fish get their adipose clipped, and that lake has a regular stocking schedule. if anything, that fish was put in when it was smaller, and it grew up eating the food in the lake instead of pellets, likely why it had the orange flesh.
I thought it looked like a native with those markings and adipose, too. If it was a hatchery fish then it likely had been holding over for a season or two.
Even though you caught one fish, you still managed to make some great food, with the fish tacos. I also noticed some visitors from up here in Canada, were flying over this lake. The Canada geese needed a nice place to travel to. Hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Cheers! ✌️#TakuTuesday

Maybe one day I'll actually get the cop one of those bullet lures if you ever decide to make a run again and put them on your website
U had the magic bullet
I need a few bullet lures bro!
"If you can't catch a fish catch a buzz"; I represent that statement! Nice vid, well done.
Always good advice
Learned that at about 16-17 old fisherman's trick.
I mark that quote as legendary haha, you are a hero Chefff!

Cilantro stems and roots are great for making broths too!
Very healthy looking stock trout! I have never filed trout before. I only clean them the regular way. Great recipe.

must be Del Valle, yeah their boat inspections are super strict and ridiculous; I've had people fail because their boat was wet due to the rain
