ADDRESSING THE FALL-OUT FROM THE ARYY EPISODE

- Last week I spoke to the terrific young musician Aryy, and received some pretty tasteless comments. I also lost over 100 subscribers overnight. I address the controversy head-on in the beginning of this week's episode of Ukulele Tales.
There's also an interview with Magnus Sjöquist - Swedish U-Bass Supremo, and fellow Kala Brand Artist - who I met at NAMM last year. We didn't get to chat for long but among the topics that did come up were his 15-piece Steely Dan tribute band(!), his thoughts on using the bass as a lead instrument, and duetting the U-Bass with a bassoon back in his native Sweden.
Magnus also talks about how he decided to take up the U-Bass... after reading a review of it in a magazine!

I've been attached to this channel for years, waay before a millions subscribers when you were just a small channel. I've got to say you are just as genuine and inspirational today friend! I need to get the uke out again and get back to it I think, keep being you dude!
As always amazing. There are plenty of other subscribers that will keep listening! I have been learning the ukulele from your tutorials from the beginning and they have kept me going when I thought I might not carry on. 😊

Not at all surprising you lost some people. But I appreciated you spotlighting a trans artist given current climate. Better to lose people over that than the channels I've unsubscribed from for choosing fearmongering and hate. There's no good reason to hate on queerfolk. Thanks for your explicit support :)
Hear hear! Well said, John. Ukes and music should bring us together, not tear is apart. Losing closed-minded bigots is no loss at all. Thanks for standing up for your fellow human beings ❤️
close minded bigots meaning normal individuals who recognize the havoc unleashed on society by transgenderism and the individuals who transition. just thought I'd clear that up 😄
I've followed you for a few years now and always loved your tutorials! As a trans guy it means a lot to hear the support you've shared today. Thanks for teaching me all that I know🙏
I had no interest, so didn't watch that one, but you have so much great content, I'd never unsubscribe.
Sorry to say missed that episode, but having listened to this, damn, you're good. Really proud to say I subscribe to your channel 💜
I just wanted to say thank you for wanting to uplift the voices of trans and queer artists. So many of the most loved musicians are queer and have been openly for years (Freddie Mercury, Elton John, David Bowie, Tracy Chapman, etc.) so I don’t understand why people are acting like people who make music can’t be anything but straight and cisgender. If anything, music gives people the space to express themselves in ways they probably wouldn’t be able to otherwise. So thank you, John, for showing your love and support for awesome queer people who make awesome music 😊
Ew
No worries, John. You can’t please everyone. But, I think you do a great job. Keep looking for great artists: straight, or LBGTQ - it doesn’t matter. It’s about the music.
You are better off without them. You and your channel do not need that kind of energy. Never apologize for lifting up instead of punching down.
Mahalo for addressing this, John. Eo ka māhū! 🌈
Hi John, I just wanted to say thank you for everything you do! You're better off without those bigots - if they can't accept there's diversity in this world, they probably don't get music anyway.
bigots are pretty awesome
As a long time yt follower and user/promoter of your app who also happens to be trans I appreciate your continued awesomeness. Xx
👋👋 Just wish I could subscribe twice 😁
King 👏
Will add you for highlighting trans artists.
Of all the left things to be mad/unhappy about, people really left over a Trans artist??? I know the numbers affect you, but IMO, your channel is better off without those ones anyway🤗 music has no limits...
It's hard to imagine someone could be into ukulele and yet be a hateful bigot. The uke is an instrument that inherently feels calming, and peaceful, and being hateful seems antithetical to ukulele music, at least to me.
I just don't understand the concept of bigotry. The fear of difference. I just don't understand it.
not fear of difference, recognition of stupidity
First Bud Light, now Ukulele musicians. It’s always the snowflakes from the right that cry over refractions of light.
Yet they're the macho side of society 😂 but always crying over things that don't affect them
@@jamesdantebates Because they aren't real men for crying.
@@Mr.YasQueen huh? I will assume you meant real men don't cry?
@@jamesdantebates Yes, real men don't cry, they are cry babies. They aren't macho.
liberals are snowflakes dude. They're practically synonymous.
Religion man, what can you do 🤷♂️
Good riddance to those who left, you didn’t need them or their hate.
Your channel is better off without them.
I don't want to political but... but I will have my say on tolerance and acceptance... if you don't like (insert whatever here, for you it's LGBTQ) then good riddance... impressive acceptance and tolerance!
Unsub then. And hold this massive L on the way out.
