- The Yamaha Tenere 700 is a great bike in stock form, but adding a few Yamaha Tenere 700 mods to the bike takes an awesome adventure motorcycle and makes it even better! In this video, I'll walk you through installing several very popular and important Yamaha Tenere 700 upgrades, including Tusk handguards, Tusk crash bars, a Tusk top rack, Touratech radiator guard, Touaratech works footpegs, Touratech brake pedal extension, and a touratech rear ABS sensor protector. These mods for the Yamaha T7 will ensure the bike is protected and running at peak performance no matter how much I abuse it while riding off road.
I'm no mechanic, but I managed to survive this Yamaha Tenere 700 mods install process and I'm very happy with all of the results. This adventure bike is ready to rock and roll!

For somebody who claims he isn’t mechanically inclined, you do a great job.
I'm getting a little better
Just installed pannier racks and bags on my MG TT85. Wish i had videoed my install. Would have shown the typical learning curve for us non professional mechs. Thanks for sharing Dork!
Thanks for reminding me, I gotta put the new foot pegs on the Brozz this weekend and figure out how to adjust the pannier racks I have to put on and make them fit. Got a trip to Maine in August.
Just finished adding a lot of the same mods. The Tusk stuff went on easy and was a good value. I especially liked the fender eliminator kit install. It was super easy and really cleaned up the tail. Now it’s time to get this T7 dirty.
Bought a new DRZ this month and been adding a few mods to it per your advice. Nice suggestions so far!
Fun stuff. I'm hoping to see your exhaust option ( provided you do it) . To me although certainly not the first , it is the MOST needed mod. Besides it looking like a sore thumb the horror stories I heard about a bent frame scared me . Good luck and have fun. Modding my bike was probably the funnest part!!!
The gel style threadlock is awesome. It’s not messy at all.
You turned her into a total beast. She looks ready for anything without question. :)
Great mod's looks great. New radiator guard looks like it will let more air in for sure.
Gotta tell you I’m very impressed with the T700. It was a bad ass on the TAT last summer. We did some pretty advanced off road sections and it was all I could do on my suspension modified f800 gs to keep up with my nephew. The t700 although not a heck of a lot lighter was much more nimble. I’m still considering adding why in my stable.
Man, that tenere is handsome. Can’t decide which one I like more. Tenere or the other one you got there, name escapes me..
I changed the foot pegs on my Ktm 690 and it was the toughest mod of all the mods I’ve done to her and I’ve done a bunch of stuff. If I would’ve made a video of the install I would’ve had to put a foul language warning ⚠️ at the beginning 😳. Those springs are very tough to get back in their home. The Tenere is looking awesome 👍
Great job........still trying to find my T 7..
i saw the KLR you still have it! yes.
Looking good mate
She's looking good!
Note on the Tusk crash bars for the T7. I was taking mine off to install a graphics kit and with no torque at all turned one of the front four cap screws into string cheese. Had to grind off the head, push the threads and nut through the other side. Which credit to them was very easy. Just turn the handlebars to the front tire is out of the way. I like the bars, they've saved my bike plenty of times but maybe think about getting some grade 8 (well 12 b/c metric) hex head bolts for where they overlap in the front there :D
You said before you didn’t do these type of videos because people don’t really like them. But, I loved this video! Please keep doing these! Love you content most enjoyable adv guy on UA-cam. Thanks!
They just don't get a lot of views but I'm really happy to hear you enjoy them. Thanks for watching!
Cool bike
Forward planning!!
Just an fyi the metal that the rear brake lever is made of is pretty soft. My nephew went down on his t700 on the TAT last summer in the slick bright orange Georgia clay. We were creeping along. Clays slick as ice. Light drop on side of rear break lever. Twisted it all crazy like. We took it off used two channel locks and straightened it back out easily. We ended up repeating this two other times. Not sure what it’s made of but never showed signs of metal fatigue.
Be mindful on those side body panels but there is a tab that slips in at the top to keep it in place you will likely eventually bend that tab and break it off. No consequence but just know it’s there. Also that rubber foam that’s on the inside will fall off little bit of gorilla glue or something like that will help that remain intact
i came for the self humiliation and levity, for that i just committed myself to the Dork nation by purchasing a membership...happy trails
Lol. Awesome! Welcome to the club!
I always use blue thread lock when installing farkles, or when reinstalling factory hardware. I’ve lost various fasteners over the years before I learned the thread lock trick.
Good trick. I need to do it more often.
My first bike lost a lot of hardware. It was a 1994 DR350SE that I bought in 1994.
Eventually I started using blue thread lock.
It isn’t necessary to use in every time you R&R a given bolt. One application will typically work for several instances of removing the screw or bolt.
Can you grab the bars on the top rack. Like handles if need to pick up the bike? In between the two connection points. Thanks.
You’re lucky! Glad you can get stuff sent to you - that’s awesome! I can’t get anything! Seems most stores should be selling, “Out of Stock” signs because that’s all they have on their websites!
I've been pretty lucky. Only a few things I haven't been able to get yet.
Ha. Haters go! Glad to see you had to mess with those Tusk hand guards. I had to too on the KLR. I guess just cuz they're "universal". I'm glad to have them on there. Pretty bulletproof 👍 The first TING you hear against that headlight guard, you'll be glad you had it. Or maybe I just ride too close 😏
Yeah the universal ones almost never mount right up without some adjustment.
Any plans to ride in Utah? I bought my first bike and plan on doing some camping trips this summer. There are so many cool places here.
Riding out there with Everide is on my bucket list. The UTBDR is one I'd love to ride someday, too.
Could you share the link of the bag you show in the video just for few seconds.?
How did you get that back 3rd bolt off under the lights? Mine was on so tight it instantly striped the bolt and now its stuck. Can even install it.
How do you take that middle clip off when removing the OEM radiator guard?
I looked at their website, but couldn't find anything for the CB500X... Who would have the accessories?
Must be nice! Im going broke upgrading my bikes! Tell RMATVMC to give a call lol
I do loves me some farkles.
The T7 is looking T-riffic
I have done that handle bar ouch many many times 😜🤣
I bet you never thought you’d be turning wrenches, a few years ago, like you are now. You even figured out bolt size magic.
It's kinda crazy for sure
I am interested in purchasing a dual-sport. I have cash and am wondering what you would sell the 700 Tenere for? Thanks for the great vids & information Dork-in-the -road!
Not planning on selling this one anytime soon.
Order of operation. Always install inside items (radiator guard) first.
Does anyone know where to get the Tusk crash bars in Europe??
B E A Utiful!
Dork! You need to do the seat hack, so you can pop the front seat off with out tools after you pop the rear.
Already done. ;)
I'm going aluminum crash bars on my tenere just as strong and half the weight
With the foot pegs file clean where the bolt goes through they seem to put to much material on them and it makes the hole to tight
I ended up having to hit it with the Dremel for that very reason
@@DorkintheRoad ya IMS told me it was from the powder coating process… you’d think they would get it right with the price they charge!
What tires did you order and from where??? Thanks.
Tusk D Sport Front Tire: bit.ly/350Wn8e
MotoZ Tractionator Rallz Rear: bit.ly/3wvCGzs
Skid plate maybe ??
Got a Touratech one ready to go. It just wasn't here yet
Im such a nerd. I'll be weighing every piece I add and every piece it's replacing (when applicable). 😂
My OCD is causing me to sweat watching this install video with no thread locker being used on anything, lol!
High fender!!!
It's here. Just need to put it on 😉
Blue loctite??? Lol
All the money you spend on bikes you should buy a motorcycle lift😃
Get rid of those giant orange blinkers.....they look terrible!!!!!
