Ken! Thanks again for visiting Bowmanville and coming by the house for a chat, getting to know each other was awesome, glad we were able to connect! The video is incredible and you represented Bowmanville perfectly! You are welcome back anytime my friend , maybe in the summer for a BBQ! Thanks again buddy, you rock! P.S. Dessert was absolutely DELICIOUS!
This video was really well done 👍🏻 I’ve been watching you for a very long time and it’s been really cool to witness the evolution in how you position your channel. Your videos bring me comfort. Thanks Ken.
I've lived in Bowmanville for 6 years now. My wife and I made a pact when we moved to not visit any national chain restaurants. Best decision we've ever made!
Our Reuben sandwiches are so much different here in my area of the US. The bread (rye) is always grilled such as this was, however ours are piled high with corned beef and sauerkraut to whereas you can't even get your mouth over the sandwich lol along with the swiss cheese and Russian or Thousand Island dressing. No mustard.... Love me some good ol' deep-fried frog legs. My folks had gotten me hooked on them when I was a kid lol. Definitely would have chosen the Bison Osso Buco as well. Love bread pudding as long as it doesn't have raisins (I'm the same with rice pudding). Those tarts looked amazing however I was distracted by the cheese as my family are cheeseoholics lol. The sausage roll looks just as good as the ones that we've tried at German Fest 😍.
Certain parts of Canada (Ottawa/Montreal area) do the high piled meat as well... We call it smoked meat up here, but it's essentially the same as corned beef.
Usually when the fries have that sort of bubbly blistered look they have been double fried, that’s what makes them so crispy and yummy. That rueben looks sooooo good.
Wow I sold a couple of million dollar plus homes in Bowmanville for my clients and never knew there were such good eats there. Going to have to visit the Olympia Restaurant for that Rueben next month when I'm there again for another listing.
Hey Ken!!! Love your videos!! I was born and raised in Northern NB … currently living in California! I love watching your videos, it makes me miss all the great Canadian food! If you ever find yourself in Northern New Brunswick… you have to try The Big D (drive in restaurant) Danny Burger…. East Side Deli steak sub!!! We also have some of the world best fishing in New Brunswick… Check out Grand Lake and California Lake…. Lots of celebrities and Athletes fish here!!!
There's few things I enjoy more than a good reuben. I suspect the fries are coated with corn starch. Olympia's menu looks like my kind of menu, lots of good options.
Thankful for closed captioning. Background music and conversation is at the same level as his commentary is. I have no idea what the wait staff was saying to him. But, food looked good
The mom & pop greasy spoons that have the colossal menus are my favourite, its sad that there aren’t many around anymore …Thanks for the awesome episode Ken !!
Massey House in Newcastle is a more upscale restaurant owned by the brother of the owner of the Olympia if you ever want to give that a try. :) Fern tarts are hands down better than a Bakewell tart any day! The perfect Paisley lunch is sausage roll, potato scones spread thickly with butter & ended off with a cup of Earl Grey tea and a couple Fern tarts! There are so many other nice things to get at Paisley but I kinda get tunnel vision for my all-time favourites! I cringe at the horrific prices for things like IRN BRU because they have to be imported but every so often I'll allow it as a treat. I wish Paisley had a little eating area & wasn't just a tiny little shop but I digress. Always a treat to get to visit there! Heather xo
Personally, I enjoy the Bakewell tart over the fern tart. I love the almond flavour, which is in the Bakewell. And yes, Mom's sausage rolls are the best!
Hi Ken! Love the videos! It would be so cool to see you walk around Bracebridge and check out The Old Station! You'll love the smash burger! Regards, Justin
Loved the video Ken! I love this kind of towns!! That Oso buco looked great! I love bone marrow, here we use it like a spread, on bread! It works fantastic with some garlic bread!! Also we mix it with some Mayo and use it in sandwiches!!
We used to catch bullfrogs and Mom would cook them and we had a few local buffalo farms here.Delicious and I use bison to make burgers..delicious.Also tried Emu and goat
Have never tried frogs legs but always wanted to try. Have had bison and it’s sooo good, richer in flavour then regular beef. Find dick, rabbit and venison is good too. That sausage roll looked really delicious! Awesome one, Ken! 😃😎
Have u seen the video of Ken pushing that asian guy to announce he was going to ask his gf to marry him and asked Ken to keep it a secret and he's like no this is youtube Ken's a bit of a prick
Still have the KFC bucket in nearby town Tilbury, Ontario. The bucket in Tilbury says "KFC", but I like the old school bucket that is in Bowmanville that says "Kentucky Fried Chicken".
The coating is for fry longevity and less waste. Lamb-Weston advertised in the cooking professional magazines 1989-1991. I was a Sous Chef at a country club and a Culinary Arts student, then.
Ahhh …. Absolutely NO on the frog legs. I had them back in 2015 while in Florida for the winter. It was a mom and pop place in the Everglades that was recommended by a friend down there. They were undercooked, with a slimy texture. Just about turned my stomach. I just can never bring myself to even try them again. My stomach starts to wretch when I think about it. I’m game for just about anything but not frog legs anymore.
Omg when I was a kid growing up there was a restaurant in my neighbourhood that had frog legs and I ate them all the time for years! I have not had them or seen them on a menu in so long. I want some now!!!
Arby’s I work at used be kfc with bucket sign back in day, then they built brand new building behind grocery store across from us and Arby’s bought building and remodel it into there restaurant that stands there as of today .
It's awesome you did that for Kevin's family it's a really cool thing seeing people give back to other people and just being nice in general is amazing to see another reason why I'm proud to be a supporter
I felt so badly that I couldnt join you my friend but I am glad you popped in at my apt to say hello. Please come back during the summer & I will hopefully be feeling good enough to join you for lunch or whatever. Im so glad you enjoyed yourself . I loved the video very much 😃👍
By the way Ken to clarify The town of Bowmanville is in the Municipality of Clarington(a combination of Claremont & Darlington I believe) & in the region of Durham
Ken, I had to look it up to make sure I was right. Clarington includes the town of Bowmanville the village of Newcastle & the townships of Clarke & Darlington. The municapality was renamed in 1993 by combining the two townships
I forgot to mention to you Ken that my home of almost 32 years( 1965-1997) was the fourth side street north on Liberty Street (Liberty Place) If/When you come back during the summer I could show it to you 😃
Hi Ken , not sure if this is the first time I’ve noticed but that’s cool you added a few countries to the price chart for the amount you spent , very cool
traditionally marbled rye is toasted but what ever is the next best thing. Restaurants are i’m sure on a budget crunch since covid but thing’s available are a bust
I think it would be romantic if you got Carol s name tattooed on your arm or chest ( you said you wanted one when u passed that store).Great video,, those ontario towns have a lot to offer 👍
As soon as I heard the beep, I knew it was a fire/etc. alarm type ‘chirp.’ At first, I just thought fire alarm and wondered why he’d have a fire alarm in the van.
Hi Ken, my kids and l watch your videos all the time we check for new videos everyday…we live in Bowmanville and got so excited to see this video….Awesome!!!
yea know very annoying when the power goes if their done that what happens chirping. TIP get a duracell 9 volt multi packs some you get lucky they last others have leaked luck of the draw. even try re chargeable ones use your jackery to re charge them. energizer makes a charging station look for the unit that does AA,AAA, 9 Volt. Don’t close and lock the lid i just let rest together when the battery is full unit shuts off. i found it gets too warm so i just let the lit sit on top. let it charge till it shuts off fresh battery. slide the connectors to the back put in your batteries resets it should flash blue stays illuminated till solid shuts off. remember at home to press the test button that also re sets the unit. the indicator should be red on the detector. we had a very very old unit that required no battery it was hard wired. it got old even the steam from a shower bugged it. found out it didn’t beep just a gurgled noise. from time to time test them. we got a unit that does both. what they need to have is dedicated battery that self re charges if the power goes it lasts a few days then shuts off without the chirp/of a dying battery maybe a bright led would be less annoying then stick it a charger like jackery using a usb or charging station by energizer. their are times batteries are hard to come by. that your ordering some
Hey Kevin, a summer BBQ sounds great! I’ll bring the British Sweets. Thanks again for the awesome recommendations
Hi there! Thank you for visiting Bowmanville! Clarington has plenty of local spots that are worth checking out. We're so glad you enjoyed!
It's a good thing he ate his meat or he couldn't have any pudding. How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?
Just the basic facts
Legendary reference 😂

Clarington is the county/region. Bowmanville is the town.
Also, The Toasted Walnut has fantastic breakfast and amazing shortbread cookies.
Usually when the fries have that sort of bubbly blistered look they have been double fried, that’s what makes them so crispy and yummy. That rueben looks sooooo good.
Chicken buckets are so expensive now. You used to be able to get 8 pieces for $12 in the US and it wasn't that long ago. Almost $20 now.
Yarbird is the best! The staff is the most friendly and the cocktails are 🔥
Great video, great to check in with you again. Warm wishes from England 🇬🇧
Wow I sold a couple of million dollar plus homes in Bowmanville for my clients and never knew there were such good eats there. Going to have to visit the Olympia Restaurant for that Rueben next month when I'm there again for another listing.
*gags*

Reminds me of a few of the mom and pop diners near me I haven't visited in years. It's time to show them some love.
We still have an abundance of them in our area here in Michigan. They are definitely our go to when on vacation.
Request : camping at a duck pond for 24 hours
Loved the British shop. Bakewell tarts are from a place called Bakewell which is a small town in the peak District England . I was there last week.
freshly ground black pepper is the only way to go.
Enjoy the stealth camping Ken😀 and good to see you trying the British snacks.Sausage rolls definitely better warmed up!!Diane 🇬🇧
Love all your videos from over the pond here in England. Was great to see you try a few British items! 🇬🇧

42:21 you know when ken is making the lawnmower sounds, its a good one haha
Again, why does your voice change every time you say "out"?
@@marvingecko1232 oh so is he speaking American most of the time? It just sounds fake when he says "out". Like he mimics another person saying it.
I love when you go to these hidden gems and explore their menus 👌👌👌👌
I live in the UK and never heard of Empire biscuits
Next time you are in New Orleans you need to try the fried frog legs
DUDE! I go to Orono to see my aunt, right beside Bomanville, part of Clarington as well.
Personally, I enjoy the Bakewell tart over the fern tart. I love the almond flavour, which is in the Bakewell. And yes, Mom's sausage rolls are the best!
I live in Louisiana where people eat frog legs. I don't like them. They taste like chicken and fish at the same time.
This makes me so happy my buddy is part owner of the Yardbird
Thanks for the great tour of the city! That was a really good video! 🤛🏻👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Ken! Love the videos! It would be so cool to see you walk around Bracebridge and check out The Old Station! You'll love the smash burger!

Reuben seems so wrong to me with mustard.
Exactly lol. I was like "Where is the Russian or Thousand Island dressing?" lol
Hey Ken Domik.. That's pretty cool Ken.
Loved the video Ken! I love this kind of towns!! That Oso buco looked great! I love bone marrow, here we use it like a spread, on bread! It works fantastic with some garlic bread!! Also we mix it with some Mayo and use it in sandwiches!!

Ken, what a neat town Bowmanville seems to be. The Bison at the Yardbird looked very yummy! Another great video from you. Thank you.
Did the dog owners at 14:52 not leave a window open for him/her?
I love frog legs. They taste like fish but have the Texture of Chicken.
